i am talking about something like this :http://thinkflood.com/products/redeye-mini/
it uses the 3.5mm headphone jack and sends your ir waves to control things like a TV,DVD.....
is there such a thing for android i couldn't find one ???

Check here: www dot zokama dot com/androlirc. I unfortunately had to spell it since I don't have enough posts under my belt. That is about the android app and talks about an IR blaster that can be used with it. This is something I am interested in to, but haven't tried yet. I bought the thinkflood redeye mini (IR dongle for audio jack) because it was on sale and they were talking about supporting android, but they so far only support their larger IR blaster unit which works over wifi (just search for thinkflood and redeye).

[Q] HTC One Remote Controller function

So, we've heard and seen about the IR and remote controller function, but I didn't exactly understand it. Is it going to work with only smart TVs? I mean can we just use it as a normal, universal remote controller?

yey, thanks a lot!
I know this is a small feature but I've always been fan of little details like that. When I was a boy, I had a casio watch just doing the same, shame it is not working anymore.
thanks again

I don't think it is a small feature. That means that with the Right soft (understand app) you can virtually have the equivalent to a harmony universal remote control to master all your IR devices such as TV bluray home theater. I have an harmony and its awesome. Getting old though.

I would like to know how to access the IR port for app development .. got some ideas for some cool applications for that IR Blaster
AW: [Q] HTC One Remote Controller function
Already tested it and it works fine.
For most devices there are preconfigired setups. If your device is not listed, you can "teach" the phone by holding original remote to the power button and by pressing any button on remote.
Sadly the set of buttons is limited (only most common buttons available)

HTC released an SDK for that IR port even before the phone was out. Google it and bring us some nice apps!

I have read several reviews saying the IR blaster software supports Sky and Virgin satellite and cable boxes in the UK, my device is due to be delivered tomorrow, but would be interested to hear if any UK owners have tested this yet??

I am planning to develop IR apps for RC Car and alarm remote for a real car Of course I need a device first for testing.
If only they could have put the IR port just beside the camera I could have made something alot more better hahaha!
I'm still trying to find the remote? How do you use this as remote?

Has anyone got it to work with their Virgin Media Tivo boxes? Mine isn't playing ball at all.

Bigger hint: The App is called "TV" in the App drawer!
Have to say i'm quite impressed with it, i thought it was just a bit gimmicky but after trying it out it's quite good.
My 8 year old son was very impressed with it...."woah mum, dad's phone can turn the TV over!"......the wife wasn't impressed at all
Can't wait to get back to work in a few weeks and start p***ing the lads in the canteen off by turning the TV over!
Great thing is, that SGS4 also have IR sensor.
So we can expect some nice apps in near future and another devices with such functionality.
Back to the roots, earlier each phone had IR (ok not same like now)
Oh my. This feature is epic.
For Virgin Media users dont select your cable box as Tivo, it doesn't work select Virgin Media in the option.
Its Epic. EPIC EPIC.
I can't get it to work with my Sharp tv. The auto setup fails and when I try to get it to learn from my existing remote it will learn some buttons but not others. So I can mute the tv, but not unmute it. None of the numbers work, but the volume controls do.
Has anyone got any ideas? Would be awesome to get it all up and running.

You can try to teach your phone from a universal remote that works on our TV.
Well the -Vol button on my Denon DAB Hi-Fi remote in my office has just died so this new phone can't come at a better time.
Same for me, The work TV remote is literally in three pieces on the table after someone destroyed it this week.

(Q) Android 4.2 Bluetooth HID with Sense?

Has anyone heard anything about HTC having the ability to have bluetooth HID connectivity with the newer version of 4.2 ?
I know it's not out just yet too.
It's something which has always been missing from sense phones and something i've always missed.
Even when an AOSP rom comes out which has the connectivity there, i always seem to miss sense and then cut my losses and gone back.
Any info would be great, rumours, official responses, anything.
Cheers.
EDIT: So sorry, posted in the wrong section, meh.
Please move mod, sorry
In theory they should do! If I can connect a wired controller via OTG cable, then why can't I with Bluetooth controllers? What if we use Bluetooth adapters?

Wired yea, but unfortunately not the same thing as bluetooth, and a fair point about the dongle, although you would need the relevant drivers and seeing as though it was difficult to get some BT dongles working on windows vista even when those dongle were made for windows (including XP) i see little hope for drivers being discovered let alone created for android.
The point is, HTC have always blocked the bluetooth HID part of their bluetooth stack and thus we cannot connect to things like the ps3 controller for six axis support,, just try wiimote or six axis and you'll see what i mean.
I find it ridiculous that the likes of the asus prime and the s3 can have this and we can't, just doesn't make sense, or maybe they've struck a deal not to?? i have no idea.
Another thing (which is off topic) the CRT animation has apparently been removed, just like it was on the One X.
Another thing i find confusing.
If anyone else has anything else to offer, i'd love to hear it.
Cheers.

[Request] Any IR applications

Hay guys
I was wondering if there are any good applications which would make use of the IR blaster on my HTC ONE
for example TV remote control apps
because i searched the net and couldn't find any good app that works with HTC ONE'S IR Blaster
Actually there is a tv remote controll app pre-installed on the htc one.

Yeah, but CRAPPY LOW-LIFE PLASTIC Galaxy S4 has Infrared. We will see all those apps soon. Till then use HTC Infrared app.
Also, anyone knows if we could have IR file transfer again using some mod xD?
Edit: Added some attributes to GalaxyS4.
Anyone successfully program their HTC One to control their Apple TV? Didn't work properly for me. But I did get it to control my Sony TV.

What about the WD TV? I know there is an app but I want to control my TV and WDTV all on the same page. Weird how the market has literally nothing for a device with an IR blaster built in.

I gave up. On the remote and the WD remote.
One day, there will be some unified remote I hope.
IR apps are thin on the ground because Bluetooth pretty much destroyed the need for the blasters (still chuckle thinking back to eldest daughter sitting 2 phones an inch apart then holding her breath though the numerous attempts to share an MP3.)
HTC have brought the blaster back in a way it was really meant to be used, developers will start coding for it (especially as Sammy had to copy them to stay in the game. )

Hmm. I have a WD TV as well. Will try programming it next.
It's probably proprietary but if someone could make an app that pulls in your Logitech Harmony remote info that would be awesome. I know there is one on the Play Store from Harmony, but it requires a separate device (which we don't need since the IR blaster is built in).

In theory you should be able to point any remote at the IR blaster and get the HTC to learn from it. Not saying it actually works (all my kit was defined in the stock database) but it could be worth a try.

Programming for non-listed remotes works fine - I have done it for two unlisted devices without any problem
htc learns but when i try to add remote it obliges me add tv too.
We need an app that can execute macros and one touch commands similar to the Logitech harmony remotes.

Yeah, tried that with an Apple TV remote. Worked for a few buttons, but not for most.
The IR blaster works really well, used it to change a tv in a cafe at lunch today with great success :victory:
Stock app looks really well done (and lists popular shows that are on), but I haven't explored it too much.

iris scanner infrared light as remote control

I have been looking around the internet, and cant find any discussion about this,
Has anybody looked into/ or thought about the possibility of using the infrared light on the note 7 as a remote control?
Essentially from what I have gathered, the iris scanner has a seperate IR blaster to help detect your iris', so it stands to reason that if we could gain access to the control for the IR we could use it as a remote control.
I would love to see what the geniuses here can come up with, because I know it is to many a novelty, but there are a good number of us that really put that function to use.
If there is anyone more knowledgable about this then please make this happen!
Also if I am missing something, then please show me why this either is, or isnt possible.
The thought crossed my mind too. I'm pretty tech savvy but have no idea if this would be feasible or not.
Sent from my SM-N930T using Tapatalk
I also thought about it since I got it, the only problem is the emitter is facing wrong direction and it would be little awkward to use. However I only use it as a back up to full remote, if it's displaced(which is actually quiet often, since I have kids), so maybe it wouldn't be so bad. I almost jumped from joy, when my N7 worked as remote for my FIOS dvr, actually thought it was using iris scanner, but no, it's using wifi network instead so I still need ir remote for TV.
Did anyone tried one of those?

This "might" be possible once we have ROMs, maybe a developer could shed some light on this.

I saw that on amazon, most of the reviews say it doesnt work, and the Q and A section says it has problems with android, mostly because of lack of supporting app.
Has anyone tried an of these that actually do work?
is there any improvement in this issue?

What makes one remote app better than any other? If it has arrow keys and number keys, laid out well, what else would you need?

Different remotes (that switch automatically) based on location and direct access to it from the notifications/lockscreen
Inbuilt one doesn't control my 6 year old Sony TV for some reason. Controls older and newer ones!
Can't get any remote app to work well with my 8 year old Samsung TV. The only way I can get it to work is by being right up close to the TV. Though that may just be the TV's falut.

It has ir blaster and works great with AnyMote latest version... I'm using it with my Mate 10 and now with my P20 pro... I have 7 remote controls full edit design and works perfect... And yes AnyMote is way far the best app for ir remote but only if you know how to edit your personal appearance and with many widgets

Try peel remote. Or with the stock remote app you can create new remotes by learning it the codes with your stock tv remote
FYI: To get it to work with AnyMote you need to choose Alternate IR in the AnyMote settings.
I can confirm that the IR blaster does not work with my 2017 Sony LED TV.

Does your Sony TV use IR or Bluetooth for its own remote? No point trying an IR blaster if your TV is controlled by Bluetooth.

It definitely does! I have been able to control televisions out of my phone, I'm 100% sure it's got it. In fact, that was the one of the biggest reasons why I switched over to Huwawi. LG had it in V20, but not V30 and V40, I loved having that feature!
