I installed this ROM and rebooted and my screen doesnt advance pass the blue android splash screen
now i tried gingerbread and it made it through the splash but i got a message saying something about setup not working and forcing closed. then i went back to recovery and installed the gapps and it gets stuck on the splash screen
Are you using firerat mod? Also make sure to do a full data/ system, cache, and dalvik cache wipe. I usually do all three at least twice as I've had roms hang from leftover data. Also check to make sure files are downloading completely.

What recovery are you using??
Yea it's me again. With the
Modified Hero
im using clockwork recovery 3.0.0.5
i finally got gingerbread to work. i think my problem was with doing a complete wipe of the cache.
i want to try the froyo mod but dont want to end up back where i was of hanging on the splash screen.
do i need to delete the one click root file? heroroot010.apk?
Yes you should and just do a nand back up of your working rom and you should be good to try any different rom. Then if you want to go back just nand restore back to your old rom. And if you were able to get gb to work froyo shouldn't be a problem for you.
Yea it's me again. With the
Modified Hero
You also wanna ditch that customized recovery image. Use the recovery that comes with rom manager. That new one is missing some capabilities.

I second that! Hated that recovery both days I had it. lol
That's not the new one. The heroroot apk. installs the old darchstar recovery img. The newest one is RA1.7 and it has all the features. Good luck

thanks guys
where can i find R.A. 1.7
Clockwork recovery 2.5.0.7 works great. And that's what rom manager will flash for you. Since you likely have rom manager already, you should go with that. Most people post instructions with clockwork in mind, so it will be easier in the long term.

Like what? Besides doing away with amend scripts (which is due to CWM 3.x being based on the official GB recovery), it's the same.
That's basically it. But it causes extra work. And the original clockwork recovery works fine.
So if the OP wants stuff to work every time...

I was flashing some new ROM's and, as you should do, created a clockwork back-up. The only problem is once the new ROM's weren't working, i tried to recover my back- up but it keeps saying "sd-ext.img not found. Skipping restore of /sd-ext." at the end of the recovery. And since i always keep a few extra back-ups, i tried those but a message saying that there is an error while formatting /system.
Everytime i try to boot the phone, it stays on the boot screen with the X and won't load any further.
I'm begging for anyones help
You using clockwork 3.x by any chance?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
yeh the latest version
I would suggest switching to an earlier clockwork or Amon Ra...
Not sure what to suggest about your backup though. You could try flashing the img files individually?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
I tried flashing them individually and it still stays on the X boot screen..
I fixed the problem. I just flashed a different ROM and it finally started working again. Thanks for helping out
Its been weeks in the making (and weeks in the learning as well)and we've finally got a release to put out.
Much props go out to Sorry_8D (for compiling .9 images), sinisin, mattix7242, echobinary and beata|coyote (for testing this theme for stability).
Last but not least: RedmanX, and Crawling @ irc.freenode.net for some help in sticky situations.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION!!!!!
Please.... Please.... PLEASE!!! Follow directions! If you don't know how to use recovery, STOP... DONT INSTALL THE THEME -- Go read up on clockworkmod recovery, get familiar, then come back and give it a shot!!!
1) First, you need to go HERE to learn how to use clockworkmod recovery with our devices. If you already know this, goto step 2.
2) Download zip and push it to the root of your SDCard.
3) Fastboot boot into clockworkmod Recovery.
4) BACKUP YOUR ROM!
5) Once backed up, clear cache and dalvik cache using clockwork recovery ("wipe cache partition" and "advanced setting -> Wipe Dalvik Cache")
6) Install zip from SDCard
7) Marvel at new Shiny.
Download link at the bottom of this thread.
Features include:
Custom Black Status Bar.
Dark Gray / Black Notification area (statusbar expanded).
All Status Bar text changed to white.
Changed all statusbar icons to high res. color icons.
Changed battery meter to read out percentage level (every 5%).
Got rid of "Roaming Indicator Off" msg on notification bar and replaced with "Kyocera ZIO".
Removed "Roaming Indicator Off" msg from Lockscreen.
Added a Custom Boot Animation (replacing cricket AND android logo)
Changed colors of all yellow/orange pngs to cyan/green.
Changed Font.
Added "Reboot" option to Power Menu.
Things/issues we know about:
Homescreen focus background is still orange -- working on a fix
Not all apps will conform to "white text" in the expanded status bar. Some will remain black. This is something that is hard to change because it is app specific in most cases. I've made the expandedview a gray color in the meantime so you can still read black text on it -- working on a fix
With the Custom reboot power menu, and battery polling readout, thats just 2 more widgets you can take off your homescreen!
Lets have a moment of Silence for the Roaming Indicator......

Good job m8.
Pat urself on the back m8. You did a great job helping.
Thanks spz0. I hope to be of a little more help in further openZIO projects, other than just being the guinea pig lol.

We will have many more projects to come.

Thanks for all the hard work guys!!!! it works great and looks good, I even retained my kyocera splash screen. I guess with this, people like me can start making custom themes. Yay!!! couple of questions:
1. after compiling the .zip did you have to sign the package?
2. If yes to #1 what did you use to sign it?
3. What are you using to make the boot animation?
4. In theory - with clockwork working we should be able to flash other roms as well, right?
Fate... did you do a nandroid backup?
Sent from my Zio using XDA Premium App
In theory yes we could start to use other roms but its risky. Do a nandroid backup first, although others lost the Kyocera splash after using nandroid.

I did in fact do a nandroid back up. I was really surprised to see the "kyocera" splash screen when I rebooted after pushing the open Zio theme.
You only lose the kyocera logo if you "recover" from a backup. Just pushing framework doesn't effect the kyocera logo.
So I can backup with no worries?
I've been avoiding nandroid to preserve the splash for extraction.
Sent from my Zio using XDA Premium App
Yes, the Kyocera Logo will stay until you run a Nand restore. After that it turns to the lovely white bar.
Awesome
Thanks much for the the theme. It looks AMAZING compared to stock! Im surprised such an inexpensive phone can do so much! This is the closest thing to a custom ROM we have and so far im loving the changes youve made. Ill continue to test and will report back.
PS
If anyone else has a Win 7 X64 system and is having trouble getting everything up and running, drop me a PM
Hi, does anyone know if this theme can also be applied to the Sprint Sanyo Zio?
As long as your on 2.2 framework. From what I've heard sprint stopped the 2.2 update. You are welcome to be the first sprint tester for openzio themes. Check to see if your on 2.2 or 2.1 before trying... be cautious because I can't help you if you brick it.
Sent from my Zio using XDA Premium App
I actually updated to 2.2 the first day it was pushed out - but wasn't aware that they stopped it...
I shouldn't have any issues with the Clockwork recovery install - should i?
Thanks!
Do not install rom manager from the market. Use the openzio recovery and do not flash it. fastboot boot openzio-clocworkmod-recovery.img something like that.
You can do a nandroid backup but I strongly reccomend extracting your stock boot.img recovery.img and system.img using adb.

If you nandroid restore the stock boot splash image gets nerfed. Please research first, don't go crazy cause you want a theme.
Make sure you backup those 3 image files and remember do not flash the clockwork recovery, boot openzio's recovery.img
Sent from my Zio using XDA Premium App
Yes. See the clockwork thread also for instructions to booting clockwork with fastboot. If you flash with rom manager you Bork the phone and being on Sprint we may not be able to do anything for you at that point. See the clockwork thread in the dev section.
Sent from my Zio using XDA Premium App
Backup the boot.img then power down to fastboot. Boot openzio recovery, do a backup! And if you don't have a SD adapter like myself, Don't theme yet. Reboot.
Boot normally and enable USB storage, find clockworkmod in your SD and copy to your computer! You might need this.
Reboot to fastboot and boot recovery, now install from zip... not update.zip
If you don't do this exactly as I say I cannot help if you brick your phone.

With the new boot loader unlock it comes time to use a recovery other than safe strap. The easiest way to flash a custom recovery, in this case, clockwordmod recovery, is to simply download ROM Manager and use it to flash the Motorola Photon Q version of CWM Recovery. I flashed it and booted into it and haven't experienced any problems as of yet so for those looking for a custom recovery straight out of the gate, this is for you.
Sent from my MB886 using xda premium
Nice i don't know if i should try it or wait for an official one for our device. In the mean time back to my nexus 4
Sent from my MB886 using xda premium
If you really want to give it a spin you can always flash the Photon Q version otherwise I'm sure there will be an official version ported soon

Yea make sure to erase the rom slots. I forgot to and uninstalled then was missing quite a bit of space lol.

I haven't actually tried yet flashing a ROM but since I'm on stock and don't want to flash white yet I haven't had the opportunity, as long as its flashing to the device it should work with no problems

So far, i have installed the cwm for the photon q like you, and made a back up through it. Im going to see if it will restore from it as well. ill keep everyone updated.:good:
:edit: I sucessfully backed up my stock JB rom, wiped everything, and restored everything back and everythings perfect... I dont know what else to try before attempting to flash using the photon CWM. any ideas?
I uses the photon q recovery to backup & restore, and haven't had any issues yet. No ROM flashing for the time being, just haven't tried it yet.

Did you try to go back into CWM and wipe everything again after the boot loops? That sometimes helps when it is boot looping after an install.

I'm Stock Again, Restart always sent me to fastboot with a failed flash error, I could back out of it to the pizza ROM each time however I don't want to depend on my phone booting incorrectly so I used RSD and I'm stock again, I'm going to give it another try tonight.
UPDATE...Reflashed everything started over and everything works PERFECT Yippie!!! I'm very pleased!!!!

So what was your full procedure? I want to try this and try to install CM10 later.
From what I read, you installed the Photon Q CWM, installed Pizza through that, got boot loops, flashed back to stock, then installed Pizza again?

Fastboot was kicking errors and was boot looping into fastboot with firmware flash fail, I found however I could start into AOSPizza in DB mode (Safe Mode) , so I did that, charged up the phone 100% then used RSDLite and Reflashed Stock current firmware, it however does not re-lock the bootloader as some have mentioned might be the case in other post's, from there I started up the phone, turned on usb debug, used "motochopper" to root it, then installed Rom Manager from the market, flashed clockwork to device with the Photo Q CWM , copied AOSPixxaV1.zip ( The ROM ) and GappizzaV1.zip to the Phones internal storage not on the external SD memory card, from there went to clockwork mod on my atrix opened up the program and selected to reboot into recovery, went to the mounts and storage then select Mount System then go back then install zip from sd card then choose zip from sd card, then scroll to your rom and select it and it will flash when its complete you will go back and go to reboot system now, it will ask you if you want to bypass stock recovery on boot select it and your phone will reboot into AOSPizza......Have Fun!
I flashed the bootanimation zip from this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2793356
The animation works, but gets stuck in the middle, and the phone won't boot after that.
I tried flashing the Android L bootanimation zip after that from this page :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2799920
But it says installation aborted
Can someone help me out please? Will flashing another zip over the previous one solve the problem?
I can't do a restore from CWM because my memory card got corrupted a couple of days ago and there's no working backup
HELP
Reflash stock. Sounds like the bootanimation screwed something up.
Tried flashing another zip from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2619759
It flashed properly, but I still get the FIFA animation from the first zip and it gets stuck. Phone still won't boot.
Can someone please help me out here?

Got it to work. Cleared cache from recovery and flashed another boot animation zip. Phone's up and running again
