can someone tell me if we can raised up the volume on optimus 2x cause it has a very low accoustic plz?

In CM7 rom there is a program called DSPManager that works great for that purpose for me. Otherwise there are apps in the market, for example "Volume+" and "Louder volume hack". I have not tried them though.

Same for me. Specially sound through external speaker while playing media is absolutely poor. I have a xperia x10 mini (1/3rd the physical size of O2X) and its external speaker sounds at least twice better if not more. Its a shame on LG for not looking into this aspect.
BTW Vol+ is for gingerbread only and LouderVolumeHack I have not tried.
Anybody with experience on this may help.
Using BB 614 with Blazing Dragon 1.9B ROM.

Doubt it will work on volumehack. They stated it on description. Guess have to wait for the gingerbread update or devs to work on it if they wish to.

Problems Summarized ? Buy or Not Poll !!

Hello Everyone,
I recently sold off my Vibrant and was looking at LG Optimus 2X as my next stop
However alot of people have discouraged me from buying this cell looking at the BSOD and other bugs but i still have a feeling that this phone is worth it because of low price and very good hardware.
As you guys are using it, it will be best if you can tell me about your experience with this phone which can help me make a decision.
I am getting this phone for like 325$ slightly used in Canada or 220 Pounds from UK.
Just write your Experience in this way:
Pros : Tell what in your opinion makes this phone preferred over others.
Cons: Please Explain the Problems here as thats the main cause stopping most of people from getting this shiny thing Explain it like:
1) Problem + How frequently you encounter this? + Has there been any fixes ?
I will be very thankful to all the community here using LG Optimus to tell us more about this Phone and take out any misconceptions about this phone If any

Well :
pros : cheap, tegra, IPS screen
cons :
-2.2, maybe no update to 2.3
-very very very bad drivers (aka baseband), implies :
Double core but cant install one single app without huge lags (even symbian is faster), probably due to bad scheduling
Reboots, freezes and random lags : more or less fixed
3G signal loss, even on perfect coverage, wifi error.
.....

Unlike other users I haven't come across any issues such as the BSOD, no freezes or auto shut offs.
I got the O2X last June and immediately update it to LG version 10c, most users have experienced better performance with this update but some have reported that it didnt fix anything.

Pros: cm7

If your here because you like putting custom roms on esp cm7 then the o2x is about the most perfect phone you could have.
If you want it working out of the box, then whatever lg did to this phone, they need shooting.
Me, I love cm and therefore only bought this phone because it was being supported
To have cm7 on a phone with a gorgeous 4inch ips screen, tegra dual core processor, 8mp camera with 1080p video recording, that's not made out of cheap plastic like samsungs phones, like I said about perfect lol

Is the Modaco FR19 a good option instead of CM7?
CM7 is not a option for me since the lack of A2DB.

Yea ofcourse for someone like me who keeps flashin new roms i nvr stick to the stock stuff. For me CM 7 > Stock for me
And i am hoping with the upcoming GB update things may get even better right ?

Pros:
Really cheak compared to the hardware it has (comparing it to an SGS2).
Awesome official Dev support. From Cyanogen, to Paul of Modaco, to MIUI, to Supercutio.
I have not experienced those BSODs. And I'm on a slightly modified stock ROM.
Cons:
None really. I'm sure GB will come. We all need to just wait.

Pros:
- Good Hardware, as others stated, average battery life(im saying average cause most android phones last a day)..
- CM support( that alones gives it a ton of +)
- Good Camera
- Ips Screen
Cons:
- LG
- LG drivers
- LG Updates(no gingerbread till now) :

I'd says it's best to wait until GB update until buying. or for LG to fix BSOD and other issues.
Afterwards it doesn't really matter cause u can rely on devs rom for future updates
and the O2x is constantly getting cheaper, atm it is like $430 delivered on ebay compare to other dual core phones it is quiet good value for money

I guess seeing the fact that Majority of people think its worth it and only a minority is frustrated over it i think i would take a gamble and buy it off ebay and see whats ma experience with a hope that some day LG will fix its drivers lol

if you can get a sgs2 or sensation for the same price, go get one of those, if not, the O2x will be the best option, install cm7 on it and it will be even better

No Problems for me..... everything works fine.
My Device is a really new one...maybe newer Devices have no problems with bsod ?

Right! And the thread "Phone shuts off!! Automatically!!" are full of happy owners. If you´re not happy you simply dont own a o2x. Lol.
I voted "sux" because my super cheap ZTE Blade is slower but definitely more reliable than my o2x.

Just wondering about one thing. Does installin CM7 or other custom roms helps somewhat with BSOD or not at all ?

A custom ROM can help. Not more.
Some people have after installed a CROM no problems with bsod. Others can do what they want...nothing helps....

Since it has a Wolfson - Voodoo support?

I heard LG has not released the source of their audio drivers ... but I'm not sure if this issue is solved? Is there voodoo kernel support for the wolfson in the LG 2x? Got 30 minutes left for an auction to bid on, speedy replies would be nice

Dude, feel free to use the search function. Search for something like "voodoo sound o2x" and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for

Voodoo works just fine in most custom roms, I think even on stock. I'm using it on my phone, works perfectly as it's supposed to, bug-free.

Not really that much quality improvement so far, but a bit is there and boy, do I love it! Curio says his working on something more, but knowing him right he's probably distracted by all his other projects makes us feel a little left behind, but I think that it's worth waiting for some more stuff from him.

Well as long as it sounds better than my HTC Desire HD, it'd be nice.

I noticed a large improvement, but only when using proper headphones of course, the stock ones won't make the difference audible. Audiophile headphones however, really gets improved by voodoo, bottom end is more clear, and high end is more clean, less distorted.

on miui rom it's the same. large improvement while using headphones.

Well I got some UE Triple Fi 10's .... I expect a better quality ... that's why I started the whole Wolfson endeavour, to be able to drive those in-ears properly. That's also a bit dependent on the output impendance ... I hope the one of the LG optimus 2x is very low, so the frequency response doesn't get distorted with the TF10s. There's other dreams to dream about ... a BBE sound enhancer system or so
Btw, is voodoo in the stock kernels that come with MIUI and CM7? Or do you have to flash those custom roms and after that select a specific kernel with voodoo?

Volume+ app

Some said it worth buying since it has nice effects (like Beats emulator etc), but it generated much sound distortion while using it.. I also have DSPManager (I turned it off when I used Volume+) and it has much clearer sound! So, is it just me, or it really doesn't worth its price?

I like volume+ better since it has the ability to amplify the phone speaker sound (which DSP manager can't do.)
If you're getting distortions, maybe you're putting in too much bass?

I think voodoo sound is much better if you are talking about boosting headset.. and its free if you use kernels which has merged the voodoo control codes. If not, there's the paid plus version but only works for stock kernels.

voodoo plus works with any kernel. the app loads the sound modules it self. you only need to have root.

I have tried voodoo plus on some beta custom kernels before, it won't install the drivers needed to run because of it detects incompatible kernel. Just sharing my experience..

DSP manager is better than any sound enhancement app I've ever tried, so if you're listening to music through headphones then I'd definitely recommend DSP. It also really depends on what kind of music you listen to, I know for fact that it works wonderfully with house, dubstep, hardstyle and hip-hop. Just the genres that require some nice bass boost
But I never really listened to music through the phone's speakers, so I cannot say whether or not DSP is better than the rest there.
And no, xilv3r, there's a whole bunch of kernels it does not support

[SOUNDMOD][05/05]FidelityXAudio - Ultimate high fidelity audio

I'm building a new ROM for my new Xperia Z right now mainly for even better audio quality. However, it'll take a while as I plan to try rebuilding audio driver library file for lower latency. Right now I'm on vacation staying at my parents' house so I decided to build this sound mod for Samsung WM8994 devices instead since I have good chance to reunite with all of them right now.
FidelityXAudio is based from PureXAudio for Xperia Z/ZL made by ZeroInfinity. I asked him for permission to derive his works with mine for all-in-one sound mod I plan to release for various devices that support Alsa driver. For this first release, it'll support Nexus S, Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Tab 10.1 and all variants. Installing this mod will give you the following features below.
Features:
Rooted & Busyboxed - This will replace current root and Busybox with latest SuperSu and Busybox. Since most root access for Xperia Z I tested are so unreliable getting bootloop after mounting system rw, I'll force better ones in this package to avoid that problem.
exFAT support - If you're using Android JellyBean ROM but still not have exFAT support yet, this may help you getting one. It works for Xperia Z/ZL but haven't tested for others yet.
init.d support - This isn't cheap recovery flash init.d script. It'll execute init.d script with root access from hardware boot script level so it works far better than conventional ones for locked bootloader running stock kernel.
Xperia Fidelity script - It's ultimate sound quality mod script I've been developing for years. Not only get you better sound reproduction but also make your system smoother as well.
PureXAudio engine - As FidelityXAudio is based on PureXAudio mod, most PureXAudio features are availble except audio effects and specific sound card stuff. I may consider adding them back later though.
Low latency tweaks - My tweaks inside PureXAudio for lower latency Alsa configuration. Not sure how much of it works though as real measured hardware latency won't change without modifying driver.
Mastering 64-bit quantization - The most accurate 64-bit floating point quantization in Android. I usually end it with 32-bit integer mode but this sounds better for crazy upsampling level.
DSD128 audio processing at 5.6MHz - This will give you high resolution audio simulation. The real sampling rate will still be 44.1KHz but with 128x upsampling for audio processing before downmixing is really something.
Fidelity nVIDIA audio configuration - Optimized for more direct bitstream with lower latency. Only for Tegra devices though.
Removed DSPManager for more solid audio performance - This mod breaks DSPManager in CM ROM so no point in keeping it and you probably won't need it anyway after hearing sound with this mod.
Download: PureXAudio v1
You can't flash this on other devices as it can break audio with incompatible sound card configuration. I tested on my Nexus S, Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Tab 10.1 and they're all working fine. Guess not many people still use them nowadays but they're great ones for sound quality wise. I'll update again for APQ8064 based devices in next version after releasing new Xperia Z ROM.

Yeah its working well and i can hear a little bit difference in the sound but the music sound is loud now So, its working awesome :victory::highfive::good:

It's designed for JellyBean ROM so yes.

Yes i tried on a JellyBean 4.2.2 Rom and it is working well :good::good:

Don't know if its a placebo but I seem to be able to crank up the volume much higher now before it starts to sound distorted, on lower volumes I cant hear any difference
anyway thanks for the mod will start using it daily and probably damage my ears :laugh:

Will this mod work alongside voodoo sound, or is it an alternative?

It works alongside with Voodoo Sound. Actually, I added my own Voodoo Sound tweaks as well. Some may not like it but that's what I prefer.

What headphones/earphones/speakers do you usually use with your devices?

I used to try all in market years back but now I don't really care much even R10/Orpheus failed to make my desire go wild now.
My current favorite earphone is Martin Logann Mikros 70. Not very bang for bucks but easy to wear with mic and bass sounds like speakers with dynamic driver in that long housing.
My current speakers is Rockport Ankaa. I like it more than its newer Avior models.

If you already use other soundmods, maybe it's possible that this won't work. Otherwise, I don't see any reason why not as I already included root/busybox/init.d stuff.

I don't use other soundmod.. I don't know maybe I don't understand the sound ... for busybox I install 1.21.0 ..

It works on JellyShot 4.2.1 v1.3? I flash it with CWM? I have Voodoo sound... It works fine too?

i'm sure that you will make this face when I tell you that i'm using CyanogenMod 7.2...
... so the question: it's only for 4.2.2 roms or it will work with every android os?
