Ok, I used LG Utils to unpack the kdz file and got the cab file. I extracted the cab file with 7zip and got 2 files, a LGP970.dll and the wdb file. Now I want to unpack the wdb file but there is no Inf_WebDnld.dll file to use.
Shouldn't the Inf_WebDnld.dll file be inside the cab file? Or am I missing something?
you may need to pick files from phone...
I already talked about this.
When KDZ packs a DZ inside, you can unpack it. This is true for LG P500 for example. However, for LG P970 and P990, the KDZ comes with a WDB inside whose unpacking instructions are inside it, so it can't be done.
Cause it is CDMA packing method. Dz files inside KDZ is UMTS method. All CYON phones have same packing method : wdb file and strange dll file.

I guess many people don't have 5830i....(only Indians have it though as the phone was released only for India..)
So wait for a while...most of the 5830i users ain't rooted and it will take time for the users to find your post. I wonder why Samsung released a different regional version of the phone..it isn't a good concept(for devving atleast! ).
If you have deleted the file by mistake, you can always use Odin to reflash the rom you are in. You can get the firmware file of 5830i from sammobile.com...
Or if you want, I can send the file you want from my s5830 if you want.
IMO...it will take some time for you to get the file..!

Mr.n00b-insulter,if you are such a genius, you would know that extracting firmwares of ALL Samsung phones are not possible. For example,S-5830i.Download some firmware from sammobile.com,extract the zip, would love to see how you would extract the firmware and get /system and boot.img

Not for India only...Most of the new Ace's that are being manufactured now are S-5830Is.So,if you buy an Ace now,its more likely a S-5830i rather than S-5830

You can use it with any stock based rom. You can get the apk and .odex file from the repack's zip. Don't deodex it.It's faster leaving it that way and sometimes (rarely) opt codes get lost when deodexing.

Not without adding the lg-framework stuff that it depends on to the cm10 framework.
Firstly i tried normally deodexing and pushing to system/app, then i read what you wrote here... You are right xonar ;p
LG uses opt codes that are fast but are 'unsafe' and is only allowed in odex files. ( why V30 repack is so fast and snappy compared to cm10 )
'unsafe' meaning if it's used wrong it can have unexpected results at unexpected places.
The reference I'm using is fairly old so it might've changed.

You sure that the ROM is in a .rar file? Maybe you have the wrong file, because I think this link for the ROM and it isn't compressed in a .rar file, it's on a normal .zip.
The link you post is for another version of the rom.

Maybe a naive question, but did anyone try the android kitchen porting tool already? I mean the ROMs dont differ too much, are both still JB and even for the "same" device. I am currently short of time, because of my bachelor stuff, but if we get it going this way, we could at least see, where we need to start and could start debugging/using tgis new stuff
