I already use the standard email client for my Gmail since I have two other email accounts, and I like being able to have them all in one unified inbox.
My question is, if I sync my Gmail calendar and contacts through the standard Email client using exchange (push), and disable the integrated Google contacts/calendar sync (presumably through the GMail app?), will that be any more or less battery/bandwidth efficient? And could I then use SGS Tools to uninstall the Gmail app, or are there other services that still depend on it?
Thanks!

what about setting up an exchange account and only using it to sync your work calendar?
or set up your primary account calendar to have access to your work calendar.
the nice thing with android 2.2 is that it will fully sync multiple gmail accts, including calendars
did you ever get this resolved?
Hello! So i'm new to the whole android scene, ive been using iPhones for 2 years, and windows mobile for years before that.
Currently on my phone, i have the gmail app for my gmail, some other email app that came with the captivate for my exchange syncing, and im using K-9 mail for my MSN email accounts (there's 3).
Everything works very well EXCEPT for the hotmail accounts. I would prefer to have all of my email accounts in 1 email app where i can open it up, pick the account and choose the folder i want to view (inbox, junk, trash, sent items, etc..)
Im having a tough time finding one... I'm ok with using 2 or 3 but 1 would of course be ideal. The biggest issue im having is the syncing. Ive tried every setting possible and my K-9 mail will not auto sync with the msn/hotmail servers. The only way to get my mail is to get into K-9 mail and tell it to sync, then after several minutes i'll have everything synced and see my new emails.
Is there an app that can combine all these, or just the hotmail accounts that will sync every hour or so automatically that anybody knows of?
Why not auto-forward your hotmail to your gmail. Or POP your hotmail from your gmail? You can set up a filter to label them as hotmail messages, or even use the multiple inbox lab.
There is no good all in one email app

MSN/Hotmail now supports full exchange sync with email, contacts and calendar. MS claims there is known issue with Android 2.1. In my case, I found the contacts sync doesn't work for me. MS advise you to use Android apps like TouchDown etc to do the sync instead.
The exchange server address is m.hotmail.com and use your email address and password to login.
So, you can use the default email app to add exchange sync for your MSN/hotmail account. The downside is that email app limits you to max two Exchange accounts.
I've heard that if you had rooted/lagfixed your SGS, you cannot sync your phone contacts, is this true? Haven't installed Kies yet.
If this is true, can you please give me an alternative to sync my phone contacts with? I have Gmail and Yahoo Mail installed in my SGS, and YahooMail is syncd with my YahooMail contacts on phone, but not with contacts that is originally on the phone. I join contacts for them not to be redundant, and it's pretty annoying.
Is it okay to sync my Gmail contacts with YMail contacts then sync the GMail contacts with Phone Contacts????
not true
you can sync over the air contacts via Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail
and Outlook if you use KIES, or the WiFi Android Manager

Woops, just saw the Q+A section. This thread can be deleted.
Hi I have been setting up all my email accounts, etc. I did not have any issue setting up the email accounts, however; when I clicked on my Google calander it is only syncing gmail e-mail accounts. Not my work outlook or yahoo ?
Is there a way to get both the outlook at yahoo to combine with the gmail and have all events sync into one calender ? I rely heavily on my work computer calander and prefer it to be on my phone with everything else.`
if you use the outlook APP to set up your email it has a built in calendar got the outlook account, for Yahoo use this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.dmfs.caldav.yahoo
