Check out samfirmware.
You need to register for that site, but that's where most of us get our non-cooked firmwares around here...

That's probably an official ROM.. Where did you get it from?
Hey there,
I grabbed it off samfirmware.com
Anyway, can anyone verify with me?
you can get official rom from KIES
If you flash a older firmware I'm sure Kies will update you to the newest official firmware of your region.
Also this should be in Q/A...

Your ROM has a valid date code and hence should be official. All the leaked ROMs have date codes like JMx (Eclair), JPx (Froyo)
For your ROM J = 2010 and G = July (A = Jan, L = Dec). There could be no M or P month after that, hence they are essentially leaked ROMs which are not officially supported.
I see a caveat here - some people report that a JMx ROM is officially supplied to them through KIES or their local service centers. I don't believe so and can only see valid timestamped ROMs as official and supported.
Hey, I have a Singapore I9000 and am on stock FW.
I am basing the official FW based on Kies which says that for me I am on the latest official FW which is DXJG4. Official firmwares I believe only come through Kies.

latest firmware for singapore users should be dxjg4.
at least off kies anyway!

I would say just about all of them. If you are with Telstra then you can only use a few modems that would give you the NextG network.
There is an OZ thread that you might want to use for this.

as the title suggest..what is DDKQ8 ?
it is one of our the baseband no. of our ace. you can update it by flashing the latest samsung rom or rom based on it. i tried DDKQ8 and it is smoother and better than others. you can just google and find information.

Yep.. Official from samsung.. DD stands for India, its the region code.. KQ8 for the exact baseband version.. Versions in this format are always official from samsung.. Modded roms are named differently by devs..

Hi guys I'm running CM11, ICS 4.2.2 on my Galaxy Ace, GT-S5660D and want to downgrade to the original OS the phone came with, I believe it was GB 2.3.6 or 2.3.7. My phone is rooted but I have no idea how to bring it back to the original Android version. Any help would be appreciated!

really simple my bro
first download the firmware from sammobile
then flash it via odin
just select the rom carefully for your GT-S5660D variant
dont download the rom of I or C variant it will brick your phone
if you have any problem ask for help

Thanks for the quick response!
I'm not sure what odin is and I don't think I used it when I flashed CM11 onto my Ace.

Thanks this looks promising. But when looking at this site http://www.tsar3000.com/Joomla/inde...laxy-ace-firmwares&catid=55:samsung&Itemid=82 there's no Canada under S5830, only European countries. Should I download the Canadian firmware under S5830D?

Before you install anything, is your phone GT-5660D or GT-5830? Make sure to download the original firmware for your device. Installing any firmware meant for another device on your phone can, in the worst case, hard-brick your device. As for the firmwares, you can download the one that is near to your region. In fact, any regional firmware for a particular phone will work on it. You can also find all the Samsung Galaxy Ace firmwares in the following link,
[Share] All Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 Stock Firmwares (2.3.X) Ever Released
Hope I Helped
I just did it with the help of that thread. Thanks all.
