[ROM] [STOCK] CUBE / CUBE_lean_v2 (root) | v20g-2.3.3
DISCLAIMER: I'm not responsible if anything happens to your phone. Use this at your own risk.
Based on stock v20g, but recovery flashable. Will not update your baseband. Works only on the new baseband.
There are two versions
CUBE - 100% equal to stock.
CUBE_lean - stripped down and rooted.
Important:
Do not upgrade from Froyo to any of these ROM, you won't have GSM/UMTS then.
If you already have the new baseband you can use this.
If you do not have the new baseband you can not use this.
Do not use LGMDP to flash this ROM.
FAQ:
Q: Oh no! Yet another gingerbread ROM?
A: This is not yet another, it is the stock one, just in different packaging.
Q: And why do i need that again if there is a stock ROM already?
A: If you do not want to flash via lgmdp but rather use your already existing clockwork mod recovery.
Q: What's the problem with using lgmdp?
A: It flashes more than you need if you just wanted to downgrade. And it flashes "dangerous" areas of the phone making it more prone to create a brick.
Q: Mobile data is not working after flashing this rom. What now?
A: Go to settings and set the APN manually. Consult google for your operator settings.

Yes. If you already have the original GB, then you have no use for this. If you've gone further and flashed a custom GB rom and now want back again without flashing anything vie lgmdp: this is for you.
Just flashing this zip "ALONE" via recover will get me lg based gingerbread? :O
If so its cute... Dnt temme I need to flash the baseband before flashing this thing

No it won't. This won't upgrade your baseband. You need a new baseband already. This ROM is when you don't want to flash the baseband again to get back to stock.
It's confusing ... I m on Mick's CM7- 6.5.5. Can I just flash the zip file as normal to upgrade to this ROM?

Mik's CM7-6.5.5 is using the old baseband. So you can't.
I think i'm gonna clarify this a bit better in the first post.
Another GB rom...i can't stand on this any more :|

this kind of posts should not be here, this is ROM doesn't give anything to the comunity, this should to be moved to general o another section.
This is actually pretty useful. I was wanting to go back to the stock GB kernel/ROM (having too many issues with the custom ones), but I didn't want to go through the whole ordeal of using LGMDP again. Thanks for this.
You also need lgmdp to change the baseband, so its ridiculous

It can't be flashed without a computer. It needs KDZ/LGMDP.

I'm curious. Has somebody already used the provided ROM and had success flashing and running it?
I wasn't able to flash via LGMDP, for some reason it kept going into fastboot.
I flashed this and everything is perfect.
All you hating should just shut up. This helped me a lot.
Thank you.
BTW - rooting doesn't work and the APN's and settings and bookmarks and everything are from a different carrier, not mine.
Weird but... whatever.
I just want it rooted. Anyone that can help?
Why would you want to use this?
Install gingerLOL which is rooted and cleaned. Its still slow because its still based on official crap but certainly faster than this.
I think is useful enough...
You have to use lgmdp tool just once ,not again and again to change from v20g to v20c or other downgrades, just flash this rom and then flash any official gb rom you want instead of using lg tool again...
But if you want to flash a froyo rom then you have to use lg tool again....
All these if i understand good,
Or not????

my 10 day old galaxy s is very laggy!!! it is rooted too.. can anyone help me please and can someone tell me how do i unroot... i rooted with chainfire's cf-root.. thanks
If you find it laggy now, unrooting it would probably be the wrong step to take, as root is required for the majority of modifications you can do to your phone.
Overclocking your phone will provide you with more performance. I would also recommend checking out Pikachu01's scripts, as they will help immensely. Also, make sure none of your apps are monopolizing your CPU in the background.
I'm sure others will have a ton more advice to give. Tweak your phone to work how you want it and you'll be more than pleased, I guarantee it. My SGS certainly does not lag on me, but it did take a little tweaking to get it there. Good luck!
If you want someone to help you, you need to provide more information. What version of firmware are you currently running?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
First of all thank you everyone for your time...
yes my galaxy s is very laggy and im using
Firmware: 2.3.3 (updated by kies)
Baseband: I9000XXJVO
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9000XWJVH-CL184813 [email protected] #2
Build: GINGERBREAD.XWJVH
I Know unrooting will make lag more but i want to know a solution for unrooting in case i need my warranty back....
Upgrade to 2.3.6 JVZ here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881
Root with Semaphore 2.1.1 JVZ here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112908
Follow all instructions on how to flash in first link. There are screenshots and intructions on How to Flash. Notes: Use the 512pit file, and when you flash semaphore, put it in the PDA section. Put phone in Download mode, power down completely, and press power, home and volume down.
If you want your phone fast and lag free then you may have to step outside your comfort zone. You will not find a magic app to make your current firmware fast, its just not. The links Ive given you have downloads and info on how to make your phone fast and lag free. The first link will even contain a download of your current firmware. To find out exactly what your current firmware is, including PDA, Phone and CSC, open up your dialer and press *#1234#, write that info down it will be helpful for you identifying what to download in case you want to flash back to stock for warranty purposes.

My friend also said his lagged after rooting, there is a unrooting script
Just download Semaphore or TalonDEV kernel AND Thunderbolt scripts that you need.
Unrooting shall accomplish nothing. You need a new kernel and scripts/tweaks like Thunderbolt has.

NO i don't want to unroot but i want to know if there is a possibility to do it... I son't want to flash other kernels because my phone is 10 days old (11)) i just want it to become like when i purchased it.. thanks you guys for your support and your time...
You won't lose your warranty because of root. Samsung does not care if phone is rooted or not. Just like the others say : download a custom firmware with custom kernel and use pikachus thunderbolt scripts.
This is the only way to help you
To unroot you just have to flash the stock firmware that came with your phone (you can see a list in SamMobile site). Easier way if you just want to unroot is to flash stock kernel (unrooted one).
If you just want to phone to its original state when you bought it. Then power it down. Then hold power, home, and volume up all together. This will put you into recovery mode. Do a wipe data, wipe cache, then go to advanced and select wipe dalvik cache. Then reboot your phone. If you're still not satisfied with your phone then also reformat your internal usb under settings> storage. You will lose all info on your phone so do a back up of important data. This is where root is good because you can use titanium backup. After reset your phone will however still be rooted.... But you won't be even close to unleashing the real full potential of your phone unless you upgrade your firmware and kernals with Thunderbolt.

Gingerbread has always been laggy due to lack of ram. If you want a really good and absolutely lag-free rom, I really recommend that you flash your phone to Froyo 2.2.1 (ZSJPK). It has been the best rom I've used, compared to JVT, JVZ, AOSP ICS roms, and a bunch of other custom roms.
Agree about GB, its best if you remove all the Samsung bloatware and services, and try not to use apps that use up RAM via services.
I use stock jvt with all the bloat removed, a nice theme, and semaphore 2.4.0 bm and it runs very well. I do have to freeze facebook when not in use, but it makes a difference. I also tuned ext4

Well why don't you flash a custom rom, there are plenty of them with amazing speeds and you shud try them, also you can simply use a lag fix like the one from voodoo if you don't want to get into the rome and stuff.
another question guys.. i have 2.3.3.. i tried to update ( through kies) but it says i'm up to date.. because the thunderbolt kernel requires minimum 2.3.4, how do i update it???
Should I 3wipe after updating a Rom? I wiped today. Why doesn't it become the original one(like just after flashing the sbf)? My English is poor, sorry. Appreciate!
the *3wipes* you are talkin about is used only wen u shift frm one rom to another like from cm7 to cm6 etc or unless specified by the Dev...after you install a custom rom in order to go back to stock you will have to flash the original sbf again
add a thanks if it was helpfull

I updated to 2.3.5 then rooted with megaton root, installed touch recovery.
Installed cm7.2 and gapps. All good but service at all. Switched to vengeance with gb baseband and same problem. All else is perfect. I did A factory data wipe twice.

Did you flash V20P?
OR
Did you Flash CM7 from P925?
I just flashed cm7 from the site for p925. Then I flashed vengeance 03d for p920 with gingerbread baseband. It worked with froyo so not sure if the model # means a lot.
Ok I see. I did both. I did the official gingerbread update with the lg update tool then I rooted then flashed touch recovery. Then flashed cm7.2 releases on 3/15/2011. That's when I lost wireless service. I then got vengeance rom because I thought I needed a gb baseband. All functions of phone still work with the exception of the wireless. Help pleeeeaaassseee!!!
It doesn't want to detect any networks at all. Wifi works like it should.
if you updated with the lg tool you have a gingerbread BaseBand so no matter what rom you flash you keep you BB it doent change it cant be flashed with CWM so what rom are you on now vengeance or CM 7.2?
Vengeance but I still have the 7.2 zip file

Yes. I updated to gb with lg update tool. Worked 100%
Then I flashed cm7.2 no data did factory reset still no data. Flashed vengeance for gb baseband and still no data. ThAts how it stands right now.
It won't find any networks at all, AT&T, t-mobile, nothing. Both of those showed up with both of these ROMs before on a different lg thrill that had froyo.
If I can't get it working I'm stuck with the iphone3gs for a while. I'm prepared to answer any questions and follow any instructions. I will flash it back to stock and leave it that way if I must.

I really DON'T want to advertise, but currently Lestatious BioHazard 2.9 supports V20P. You just have to choose that kernel when it asks.
Can you hook me up with a link. I tried that with my other phone but it said the file was invalid. I will try it and if it's no good I got a stock link you sent me previously and ima use that last. Stock is last choice!

If you have problems with CWM you should check here the points 8 and 26 to 30. I have the some problem but unfortunately I have no clue how to fix it, even with those tips, but maybe it'll work for you. And if you'll find any easy way to install CWM for stock recovery <3e> please let me know, I've been struggling with it for quite some time now.
Also remember to choose right CSC when installing stock rom - you can check what your code is here.

You do need need to downgrade. Install CoCore kernel, exDialer, Textra SMS. Also debloat your ROM - use scripts available in the forum.
Alternatively you can use HarshJelly with exDialer and Textra SMS.
