Just a random shot.
The camera produces very usable images and i'm an amateur photographer with a Canon 5D.

yes, just a ratio problem with 720p video, but picture are good (for a smartphone)

Thanks for sharing pics buddy. Looks really good. What about pics in low light conditions.
I think if you play captured video in quick time thr is no issue with it and to me it seems software issue which can be easily fixed in next update (hopefully LG do that).

Low light quality is just like every other small sensor phone camera, mostly crap. With an imaging sensor so small, you will not get close to real camera quality anytime soon.
I think the camera in the Black is just the average smartphone quality. There might be slightly better ones and slightly worse, but it's still just a smartphone.

Nikon Coolpix s6200
10x optical zoom
Nikon quality low light images
Sony Cyber-shot m630
5x optical zoom
Samsung mv800
5x optical zoom
If I had to choose one of them, I'd go with the Nikon
Thanks above but was looking for something more in terms of technical . Not just about zoom. Coolpix is out of the running now due to when using camcorder and zoom you can hear on playback the zoom sound like a drill

Well with cameras that small, there's not a lot of technical difference.
The higher optical zoom is always better than digital zoom.
Nikon has reports of excellent low light pictures.
I've got a canon sx210is with 14x optical zoom, Jessops are doing it now for £149 so it's probably available elsewhere for less.
I bought it as a 40m dive enclosure is available for it.
I also got a slip on extension tube that allows you to use filters.
The low light abilities of the camera really impressed me.
This video was taken on a dark boat during a dark overcast day. The only lights that were on are the coloured disco ones shooting around
I took this out the front a few nights ago when we had snow. Only street lighting was used.

It all depends what you want to use it for.
If you just want a point and shoot to take snaps, then go for the cheapest one of the bunch.
That's some funky dancing lol. Thanks for the answer.

The camera360 pics look better and more colourful to me. Maybe I should try it too !
Awesome, I had my first opportunity to use Camera 360 today, I jacked up the image resolution, zoomed in as much as I could and took a shot looking out the 4th floor window of a dropbox.com office here in SF. I was impressed.

Backcover on. Personally I don't see any difference with backcover on or off.
you can try HDR camera+, if you want to sompare with Camera 360
I use from a long time the camera 360 con la option of hdr light and i am very satisfied. The picture with the camera original of optimus is very week seems like no have color but with the 360 the picture looks like wonderful picture. Yesterday i founded a new camera software even better then all the soft of camera and named U-cam. Try it.
Looks really nice. I made some tests some time ago but i didn't see any big difference.
I'm gonna try camera 360 again!
Optical sensor is quite good, made by Sony. But also we have second "glass" on back cover, which can get dirty inside and out. Then at the end I think software is to be blamed about most of the bad results, even though we have some options that other can dream of. Like panorama mode or even simple flash for photos
But lousy brightness and white balance on auto mode can ruin all that. Can be fixed by manual setting which is is pain in the ass, but there are software fixes for later.
Every photo editor has it. Paint.NET has "auto-level" under Adjustments for easy fixing, but I do it with Picasa. Use it for managing my photo collection anyway, and there are a lot of auto or manual editing options. "Feeling lucky" usually makes wonders out of my not-so-attractive photos, sometimes it even looks like lite-HDR effect. Try it: http://picasatutorials.com/2009/04/picasa-tip-im-feeling-lucky/
Camera 360 is a great App. I use it for 2 years now. But your comparison is not about photo quality but rather about settings.
Compare the Camera 360 HDR Light photos to the LG stock camera "Vivid" option.
Also I cleaned my back cover glass with laboratory grade alcohol and microscope wipes last year. There seemed to be residue from the glue holding the glass smeared across the glass. Mainly on the inside. Once this was removed I never had dramatic differences between cover on and cover off.
There is dust in there sometimes and there are fingerprints on it, but they are wiped off easily.

[Q] question about the camara?

hi guys im possibly coming from a galaxy note 2/xperia z (didnt like it lol)
my question is the 4mp camera is low compared to others im not interested in printing them off ect but just want to know is the picture on screen as clear and crisp as say a 13 mp camara
thanks
Its 4 ultrapixels, not MP
@Community (no offense intended to OP), but its things like this that are gonna hurt HTC One sales.

It IS 4MP. However i don't think it takes bad shots at all! 4MP is still double the pixels of full HD so on screen it make no difference at all. The images are sharp and clear (at least they are on mine). 4MP in focus with good lighting is better than 8MP but blurry and dark.

No, it IS 4 MegaPixels, Ultrapixels are just a marketing term... and anyways, "ultra" isn't a form of magnification so 4 UltraPixels wouldn't even technically make sense!
UltraPixel or MegaPixel, the resolution of the images are the same, and itll be as crip as any other picture, you just wont get to zoom in as much.
Its ultrapixels, from how theyre marketing it
And i've seen the pictures it can take and theyre good, im not against the one, just pointing an obvious consumer misunderstanding

Fact of the matter is most people point and shoot in low light clubs etc.
The fact they say it records concerts with good audio had me sold.
I never zoom into pics and as long as they're big enough to look at i don't give a frock.
It's not really full marketing BS. Here's a clear illustration of what HTC did and why it's called ultrapixel.

Where the whole squares are the camera's sensor size. :fingers-crossed:

[Q] Possible to abandon UltraPixels boosting the camera resolution of HTC One?

I have got the HTC One from the end of May. But I still have some questions on my phone's "UltraPixels" Camera.
I wonder whether this technology is a software adjustment or a hardware settings?
4 MegaPixels should be all right for daily usage, but I always like to pinch to zoom my photos while browsing.
HTC One failed to reveal some details in the picture comparing to Samsung GS4 or Sony Xperia Z. I want to ask if it is possible to abandon the UltraPixels technology to boost the camera resolution to 8MP or even 13MP? Any app can do it?
Attaching my photo taken using ultraPixel HTC One at Hong Kong IFC Centre!

I believe it's hardcoded into the sensor that it only uses 4 mp for the image, while the rest of the pixels on the sensor used solely for exposure and gathering light

The phone only has 4 megapixels
They are larger than your regular phone megapixels, there isn't separate sensors for gathering light since that's how all camera work in the first place.
So to the OP, no.. Do some research on how these things work. Really.

You need to learn how to take pictures with the One because the pictures you have posted are terrible quality and the first is washed out. You're always best to focus on the sky and underexpose the rest of the shot and then edit in Photoshop or something because the quality of pictures I've taken are way, way, way better than them lol

Can someone take a low light test shot please?

Considering getting N5 for the wife. One of the main reasons she uses a smart phone is the camera. My S4 takes HORRID low light shots. They are more noisy than girls when Justin Beiber shows up at a middle school.
http://patentlystupid.com/sw/2013-10-05%2014.40.31.jpg is a good example, as you can see the subject is darker than the background the phone was stabilized on the arm of my chair I was sitting in and there has been nothing else changed about the pic. How does the N5 do in low light situations?
Thanks!

Under my desk at work before sunrise. Too dark to read under there.
Edit: I tried to take a comparison shot with my Nexus 4, but it was mostly blotches of black.
Took this one last night after sunset. Hdr+ was turned on. Honesty I think the camera is quite good for low light still photos. Much better than my note 2.

So far its looking like low light is as noisy as S4. I was hoping with the lower res camera there would be other camera improvements. Hmm...
Best low light camera I am blown away

Isn't there already a photo thread which already has low light pics?
