[HOWTO] Restore ZENONIA savefile - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
i played a lot with Zenonia on my SGS with Froyo 2.2.
Before upgrading/flashing to Gingerbread 2.3.4 i backed up Zenonia savefiles (\data\data\com.gamevil.zenonia\files\*.*) using Root Explorer.
Now i would like to restore the savefiles, but whenever i try to copy my backups in the same folder the game does not recognize them as valid savefiles.
I don't want to start again from scratch.
Any suggestion?
Mattia.

Did it!
0) Have at hands the backup of the following files: BGM.sav, option.sav, Save*.dat. You can find them in \data\data\com.gamevil.zenonia\files\
1) Start ZENONIA and save for the first time.
2) Quit ZENONIA and force stop it in Manage Application.
3) Goto \data\data\com.gamevil.zenonia\files\ and delete the newly generated files (BGM.sav, option.sav, Save*.dat)
4) Copy your backups in \data\data\com.gamevil.zenonia\files\
5) as root do the following:
Code:
chmod 777 BGM.sav
chmod 777 option.sav
chmod 777 Save*.dat
Now you can enjoy your old savegames!

Ok, I did everything up until the last step. I have temp root access but have no idea how to input the code above. Do I need some sort of terminal app? I get root access with with VISIONAary (which allows root until restart) - i have copied and replaced those files several times and tried creating new saves and replacing them ect with a file explore but I think this part is the key that I am missing. Thanks!

Use adb
You can use a terminal emulator app for executing the given commands from your device itself.
You can also use adb shell from a pc. I use adb and Android Commander to backup and push save files.
QtADB and Android Commander are graphical shells(gui) for adb. They're avialable for windows as well as linux.

cat /sdcard/su > su

I am using the PRS complete rooting guide. And when it tells me to type cat /sdcard/su > su, i am getting this error message - cat: can't open '/sdcard/su': No such file or directory.
Can anyone help with this?
Do you have su on your sdcard?
use unrevoked. one click root
just use the one click method by unrevoleved its easier
Su is not on the SD card. The sd card is a brand new PNY card. I have Su in the sdk/tools folder.
Then obviously, that command will not work. Use the unrevoked method if you are unsure what these commands do/how they work. Less headache on your end.
where is it located?
maybe i'm missing something obvious, but why pipe the text rather than just copy the file?
Sorry if this is the wrong place, but that command is curious.
This is what it's asking me to do.
From PRS Complete Rooting Guide
Now type the following commands to make it persistent through reboot
Code:
adb shell
su
export PATH=$PATH:/system/bin
cd /system/app
cat /sdcard/Superuser.apk > Superuser.apk
cd /system/bin
cat /sdcard/su > su
ln -s /system/bin/su /system/xbin/su /* IF YOU GET AN ERROR HERE DO rm /system/xbin/su THEN REDO */
chmod 06755 su

I don't know what that guide does, but it doesn't seem right --- it'll mess up the privs, that's why the old root was written as an update-payload.
It's redirected I/O since you can't copy across filesystem boundaries -- ie /sdcard to a different mountpoint.
So if I reboot my phone now, do you think I'll lose root and have to start over?

Either way, it shouldn't matter much. If it didn't work or you lost root for any reason, just go to http://unrevoked.com/ and click on the image for the Incredible. Today unrevoked released version 3 of their tool. This will root your phone and flash the custom recovery all without your needing to do anything in a shell.

AND - if you appreciate unREVoked's work - please donate. They do amazing work and they do it all for free! We're the lucky ones to have such [email protected] developers out there who do this kind of stuff so that we don't have to figure out the exact second to push in our SD cards, push files to the SD card, and then push them to the phone at exactly the right time...... just download, run, and you're done.
Just use the unrevoked 3 you will save plenty of pain and struggle
unrevoked3 worked! Thanks for the help guys.

Batch install APKs from ADB in Android. EASY!!

I looked around the net for a feasable solution but nobody seemed to give me a practical solution. So I decided to experiment and came up with an unbelivable solution that takes literally 20-30 seconds per app and is FULLY automated.
My problem was as follows. I like to install new ROMs by wiping, flashing and reinstalling my apps. The problem with that is when you have 130 apps and Astro file manager seems to install 3-5 then quits back to the packages screen, it becomes extremely friken agrivating and simply hell-as annoying!
So I needed a way to install all my previously backed up apps (which Astro does a BEAUTIFUL job with) from my SD card to my phone all in one go, without prompts and without any input.
To do this its simple, just write your own batch script and run adb install.
You will need:
1. Android SDK (your version, ie. 2.2, 2.1, 1.6 ect.)
Code:
youtube.com/watch?v=A1SOSXwkc_8
2. USB Cable to PC
3. Enable "USB Debugging" on phone
**Prefer doing a fresh install of latest ROM, no third party apps and dont open Android Market if you have Froyo because it will try and download all your previously downloaded apps again. Cool but not cool here.**
Now, I assume you already have the APK bunch on your SD card, like I had.
I use Astro File Manager to backup all my apks to my /sd/backup/apps (which is automatically set).
Once you have all your APKs in one directory, I suggest putting them on you C:\. For example "c:\apps" for ease of scripting.
Step 1.
Open command prompt (CMD) and change directory to your "c:\apps"
Example:
Code:
cd..
cd..
cd apps
Now you should see your path set as "C:\apps" in CMD.
Step 2.
Create directory print.
In CMD "C:\apps" run:
Code:
dir /s /b > print.txt
This will print all directory files and extensions but nothing else, like size and attributes into your "C:\apps" folder. Now you will see a "print.txt" file in your "c:\apps" folder. If you open it, you will see a list of all your APKs.
Step 3.
Assuming you are using Notepad to view your "print.txt" file, press "CTRL+H". This will open the Find and Replace dialog box.
In Find type
Code:
C:\
In replace type
Code:
adb install -r c:\
Hit enter and it will modify all the APKs with the adb install command. Save and close notepad.
Step 4.
Now you need to rename that .txt extension in your "c:\apps\print.txt" to "print.bat". You need to have extension shown in windows. Google that if you dont know how to do that.
Once saved as a .bat file, simply execute and it will run through the sequence to install all your APK files without any prompts on your phone. Voila, and enjoy.
EXAMPLE:"c:\apps\print.bat"
Code:
adb install -r c:\apps\com.twitter.android-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\com.ups.mobile.android-2.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\com.vavni.android.battleship-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\com.viclabs.myRemote-2.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\com.waterflea.wifiscan-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\com.wyse.pocketcloud-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\com.xrath.jmsn-2.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\com.xtralogic.android.rdpclient-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\com.xtremelabs.android.speedtest-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\com.yahoo.mobile.client.android.im-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\com.yahoo.mobile.client.android.mail-2.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\com.yahoo.mobile.client.android.search-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\hongbo.bluescreen-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\info.marlan.sim-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\koushikdutta.telnet-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\kr.mobilesoft.yxplayer-2.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\net.mafro.android.wakeonlan-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\nl.rogro.GScript-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\org.ajeje.fakelocation-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\org.ale.abtc-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\org.android7.aviplayer-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\org.connectbot-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\org.gmote.client.android-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\org.iii.ro.meridian-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\org.kman.WifiManager-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\org.openobjectives.serverassistant-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\org.prowl.networkmapper-1.apk
adb install -r c:\apps\org.transdroid-1.apk
This will go in sequence and show "success" when finished installing. It will then run the next command in sequence until its done.

Wow, that certainly is an interesting solution. Personally I just push everything to data/app when in recovery, wipe dalvik-cache, then reboot, always works fine.
An even easier solution:

Thanks for the advice. However, I have about 50 apks to backup and Astro is unable to backup like 15 of them. IE Crystallight Defense. It just says it's unable to do it and I don't know why. Thanks for any help.
awesome, simple yet effective ... just restored 103 apps
thanks
this is simplest method yet...

Hello Fellow Androids!
If this is off topic, please accept my apologies. I am searching through all of XDA for a simple solution to adding apk. Now before you start bashing, please keep in mind that I am well aware of the "search" options + google + XDA etc.
Long story short, I have:
1) Rooted
2) Fashed many Roms (currently on Stock 2.1)
3) Lag Fixxed (see signature)
4) Removed Bloatware
5) I am familiar with ABD and commands
Problem:
All I'm trying to do is install certain "apk"s using ADB. I am well aware of the Program that installs/ pushes apps automatically that are found in G1 + Vibrant + HTC + Droid Forums without having to do any typin......BUT.....I would like to know my way around ABD <----Main reason why i dont want the easy way out.
I have been here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=716806
as well as here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743457
even been here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740545
I know what you are thinking, why not use them? As i said before, i would like to be efficient with ADB. So...
I have tried methods found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517874
As well as:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719
The problem I am having is:
Whether i navigate to my folder (desktop with all my apps) and use either
"adb push app /system/sd/app
adb push app-private /system/sd/app-private"
or simply
"adb install <path to file> - Example: adb install c:/apps/apps2sd.apk"
I always get the error: "cant find <whatever apk> to install"
No matter which directory i have it, i get that message.
Note:
1) I have debugging on
2) I mounted sd <----also tried Without mounting
3) I have used the same command when I removed bloatware but i understand Adding apks are slightly different.
4) I have all the drivers installed + Microsoft's .net framework + etc
What am i doing wrong?
All Critics, input, education bashing (just not hating) lol are welcome. Thanks!

Very nice, thanks.
Is there any way to make installed APKs being seen by Market ?
I mean, is it possible to relink all the batch-installed .apk files as they were installed from Android market ?
If not, this method is fine at first but becomes painful with all the lost market updates
Thanks a lot

Would be them updated from market, afterwards ?
I fear they'll loose the market link, by installing them from local apk files...
Even easier.
Thanks for the great information. I realize you can save yourself a few steps after gathering all the apk's in one location by using this command line (XP or higher):
Step 2. In the Android SDK folder containing adb, type:
Code:
for %f in (c:\apps\*.apk) do @(echo adb install -r %f)

This looks like a great solution. Is there some way to run this from the phone itself? When I tried using Terminal Emulator in ICS, I get a Segmentation Fault error.
Found this in Google results, was extremely useful for restoring all my Xoom apps from my pre-root times
Hi to spartan062984
Couple of suggestions which I found to work.
Copy adb.exe to \windows\system32.--- this will give you a global adb which works from any directory.
Make a folder 'APK' ( or what you wish ) and put your apk's into it.
In DOS cd to APK and then run your install e.g. adb install xyz.apk \app
Hope it works for you

[How To] Remove WebTopMod without root! [How To]

Since I was looking to be able to update my phone, I had to remove the WebtopMod. Since the previous instructions required me to root my phone to remove it, which was counterproductive because it would mean loosing the ability to update anyway. I looked through the WebtopMod installation scripts and came up with this guide to remove it:
View attachment WebtopModRemoveGuideNoRoot.txt
Note: I've attached the guide in a separate file, because the forum is stupid and thinks that exe, bak, odex, apk, and dex are valid TLD's and says I can't post external links. If I ever get "approximately eight" posts I'll put it in this post.
If you don't have the original backup files, look in page 3 of the howto post for removing it with root. (Thanks, MotoAtrixFan for posting it and twoeleven99 for alerting me to this)
Happy Updating!

you can update even if you are rooted you cant update only when you modify the /system or some apps
went step by step through your guide and I still cannot update - the apply_patch_check still fails at DockProvider.apk - aside from reflashing the stock SBF, what do you recommend?
Try this
Try setting the phone to usb mass storage mode and replacing the files in the WebtopModBackup folder on the sd/media area with these: View attachment WebtopModBackup.zip
The files in the archive worked for me, not sure why it wouldn't work. If those don't work for you, please post the console log.

Thanks, but something appears to be totally screwed up on my DockProvider and DockService applications on Titanium Backup - they are listed at the bottom with grey slashes through them. The crazy part is.... it works with the webtop hack, but the update doesn't see the correct files, so something is obviously messed up.
Now, by putting the files from the WebtopModBackup on the phone, shouldn't that fix the issue? Then perform the steps in your text doc? I can't believe I'll have to SBF stock in order to fix the stupid DockProvider and DockService!!
What I meant was, replace the files in the WebtopModBackup folder with the stuff in the archive, then re-do the instruction in the text file.
I'm sorry but your instructions aren't working for me. I've followed your instructions very carefully but when I get to the command
cd /mnt/sdcard/WebtopModBackup
I get a directory not found error.
I can change to /mnt/sdcard but when I type 'ls' nothing appears. The directory is empty.
What am I doing wrong?
One thing I've noticed is that when I enter the 'adb.exe shell ./data/local/tmp/psneuter' command, the phone appears to dismount and remount and then when I go into the shell the '/mnt/sdcard' directory is empty.
Yeah I'm also having that problem....I'm trying to push the backup files into the correct folder. However, when I get a read-only error, so from what I read I'm supposed to reboot into recovery mode. When I try to do this the recovery console says e: can't open/cache/recovery/command and I can't connect to my phone. Any help?
To start I want to say Thank you to the OP for posting this. But there are a few errors, so I hope I can help.
To anyone having issues with this, there are a few things that you must have to make this work.
Note this only works for AT&T Atrix as I do not have a Bell Atrix
#1; THE 1st PART DOES NOT WORK if you performed the update. You should be rooted. You can check to see if you updated by pressing menu --> settings --> about phone and your Build version says something like OLYFR_U4_1.5.7 it will not work, you need to skip down to my next post of my coding since you should already be rooted. The 1st part of this uses the method that made rooting possible, since that was removed with the update, it no longer applies. So if you are updated, you should already be rooted and can skip a few steps
#2; You must have a folder called WebTopModBackup with the .bak files in it on the internal memory (not your memory card but the fake internal one). Open the app called Files, select Internal phone storage, select the WebTopModBackup folder and make sure you see the following files, if not you need to get them
Code:
DockProvider.apk.bak
DockProvider.odex.bak
DockService.apk.bak
DockService.odex.bak
PortalApp.apk.bak
PortalApp.odex.bak
#3; Do not mount your sdcard. When you plug in your USB cable to the compter, pull down the drop menu, select the USB connection and make sure None is selected; then press ok. If one of the other options are selected, select None press ok and wait for 30 seconds for the internal and external cards to mount. @Phazoni more than likely this is your issue
#4; USB debugging must be turned on. Press menu --> settings --> applications --> development --> and check USB debugging if not checked
#5; Make sure you have at least 50% battery, just in case
#6; During the steps you mount (make it editable) the /system folder where the files are, if you get a read-only error you did not do step
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p12 /system
correctly or your phone is somehow not rooted.

Ok now let's look at the code in the OP
Code:
adb.exe push psneuter /data/local/tmp
adb.exe shell chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/psneuter
adb.exe shell ./data/local/tmp/psneuter
adb.exe shell
adb.exe push is the command to copy a file to your phone; so we are making a copy of psneuter and putting it on the phone.
adb.exe shell chmod 755 this gives premission to the phone to use the psneuter file
adb.exe shell ./ this makes the psneuter file run and creates a fake root
adb.exe shell this should really be typed as adb shell but whatever. This takes you into the phone's system to edit the files. While in adb, the line should start with a # if it is a $ then psneuter did not work. Just to try, type su and see if the $ changes to a # if it does continue
Code:
cd /mnt/sdcard/WebtopModBackup
This command takes you to the location of your backup, remeber step 2 & 3, if this folder is empty and you cannot get to it, you have an issue there
Code:
mv DockProvider.apk.bak DockProvider.apk
mv DockProvider.odex.bak DockProvider.odex
mv DockService.apk.bak DockService.apk
mv DockService.odex.bak DockService.odex
mv PortalApp.apk.bak PortalApp.apk
mv PortalApp.odex.bak PortalApp.odex
Personally this is not the best way to do this (rename the files by making copies and then making more copies), but not my code. The mv command moves a file. In this case you are only using it to rename the files removing the .bak from the end. See my code at the bottom
Code:
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p12 /system
This mounts the /system folder so you can edit the system files
Code:
cp DockProvider.apk /system/app/
cp DockProvider.odex /system/app/
cp DockService.apk /system/app/
cp DockService.odex /system/app/
cp PortalApp.apk /system/app/
cp PortalApp.odex /system/app/
This code copies the files into the original locations as the correct name. This assumes you are still in the folder where the backups are. If this fails, the /system folder is not mounted, the files are missing or you are in a different folder. This is also missing the chmod /system/app/* coding. I will cover that below
Code:
rm /data/dalvik-cache/[email protected]*.dex
rm /data/dalvik-cache/[email protected]*.dex
rm /data/dalvik-cache/[email protected]*.odex
rm /data/dalvik-cache/[email protected]*.odex
rm is the command to remove/delete a file, running these 4 commands will remove the system cache and will most likely cause your phone to reboot before the next step; that is ok.
Code:
reboot now
This reboots the phone and removes the temp root.

NOW for my recommended coding
After you follow my 6 steps above do the following
#1. on your compter press start --> run --> Type cmd this will open the command prompt for windows. Then navigate to the folder where the original WebTopMod files are located.
#2a. If are rooted jump down to step 4
#2. If you are not rooted and have not updated your phone type the following letter for letter
Code:
adb push psneuter /data/local/tmp
adb shell
You will now be in the ADB shell.
#3. You should see a $ so type the following
Code:
chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/psneuter
./data/local/tmp/psneuter
#4 This will kick you out of ADB, wait for it and when it does count to 30 for adb to reset. Now type the following:
Code:
adb shell
#5. You should see the # sign, if you see $ type su to change it since you should be rooted either by rooting the phone or using steps 1-3 above for pre-update.
Code:
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p12 /system
cp /mnt/sdcard/WebtopModBackupDockProvider.apk.bak /system/app/DockProvider.apk
cp /mnt/sdcard/WebtopModBackupDockProvider.odex.bak /system/app/DockProvider.odex
cp /mnt/sdcard/WebtopModBackupDockService.apk.bak /system/app/DockService.apk
cp /mnt/sdcard/WebtopModBackupDockService.odex.bak /system/app/DockService.odex
cp /mnt/sdcard/WebtopModBackupPortalApp.apk.bak /system/app/PortalApp.apk
cp /mnt/sdcard/WebtopModBackupPortalApp.odex.bak /system/app/PortalApp.odex
chmod 644 /system/app/*
rm /data/dalvik-cache/[email protected]*.dex
rm /data/dalvik-cache/[email protected]*.dex
rm /data/dalvik-cache/[email protected]*.odex
rm /data/dalvik-cache/[email protected]*.odex
reboot now
This
1. mounts the /system folder so you can replace the files then
2. renames nd copies the back-up files to the original locations in one step
3. Then the chmod 644 command sets the correct premissions for the files so they work,
4. clears the cache and
5. reboots the phone.

No need to flame. We all saw your request.
Head over to kfsowi.com which will porbably redirect you to another site where you can find a rooting guide.
Root for "11.3.2.6_user_326002520"
It´s still possible to root 11.3.2.6 with KindleSuite with a small tweak:
1.) Get an actual version from KindleSuite: https://github.com/secretdevwork/KindleSuite/wiki
2.) Extract the archive and search in folder "/resources/tools" for the file "11325.bat" and make a backup of this file
3.) open "11325.bat" in a text editor
4.) search for the code line
Code:
adb shell chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/*
replace this line with the following code lines:
Code:
adb shell chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/su
adb shell chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/exploit
adb shell chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/rootme.sh
5.) save the edited file
6.) start KindleSuite, go to Root section and select the "11.3.2.5" entry (which leads to the edited Batch skript)
7.) start the rooting procedure as described by KindleSuite
8.) profit
This is just a small tweak to fix the chmod permission problems with the original script but I think KindleSuite will be updated in a few days.
P.S.: the KindleSuite root procedure does restore 11325-boot.img but nevermind it is binary the same as in the original 11.3.2.6_user_326002520 image included.

Just says waiting for device after i select 11.3.2.5
Of course you still need an ADB connection and a fastboot cable for rooting the 7" Kindle and according to the "Waiting for device..." ADB connection is not established.

Getting permissions RW / RO in lollipop with root

Hello my friends
Good as recently know the Sony launched the lollipop firmware for d5803, and also know still do not have the recovery'm waiting anxiously for it haha. good'll do a mini tutorial to help them maintain the permissions so gives to delete some things like native apps. come on
# Install the firmware 23.0.A.2.106
# Make Root how giefroot
# Extract the file giefroot and within it there will be the files folder, you hold down shift and click the right mouse button and go to the option open command window here, Plans to open the cmd and type these commands below or copy and paste one by one. Well look at your mobile screen, will ask the permissions of adb.
adb push systemrw.sh /data/local/tmp
adb push modulecrcpatch /data/local/tmp
adb push wp_mod.ko /data/local/tmp
adb shell
chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/systemrw.sh
chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/modulecrcpatch
chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/wp_mod.ko
su
cd /data/local/tmp
./systemrw.sh
# Once you have done the above option you check with the root explorer to this with the permissions RW-RO
# download the firmware lollipop 23.1.A.0.690 also download the PRFCreator, UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46, Z3c-lockeddualrecovery2.8.3-RELEASE.flashable. With these files you create a rom zip pre rooteada. place on your sd card, enter the recovery and give the following wipes
**system, data, cache** given wipes, install the rom preroot and the end of the installation you off the phone.
# Open FlashTool in flashmod select the option D5803_23.1.A.0.690_Baltic_Generic firmware on the right side has the option called Exclude: below have numerous options, you mark only the option SYSTEM and click flash, do the flash firmware.
# Turn on the phone and see how this the permissions with root explorer. End :victory:
The files mentioned above to download are all found right here on xda :good:
Thanks my friend >>Pedrooca <<
Do not forget to give me a thank you [:good:], it will be great for me because somehow will encourage me to keep my work and create new roms and mods! Thank you all
So far no bug was found. I ask you please file a bug found that I can fix. Thank you
