Hello,
tried to find anything about it in the forum... just bought this cable:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270650208388&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
hoping it would work...
i am currently using perception 10.3 and firebird 2 v0.8 kernel, tried switching to the newest speedmmod kernel - didnt work.
is it a 2.2.1 issue? anyone got it to work?
Thank you,
Yossi
Different cables are hit or miss. Some cables just don't work even though they look identical to good ones.
i just want to know if anyone got it to work with any cable on 2.2.1, if so...what is your configuration? (ROM, Kernel...)
My son has a cable for his leapster gamepad. It works great on stock cog2.3b8 however the video (yellow) was actually one of the audio cables (I think red) so you may just need to swap connections around until you find one that works.... make sure to check the tv-out box in settings.
Those cables (in general, I didn't look at the ebay one you linked) work great. The quality is better in landscape mode. I use the one that I got with my Zune dock, it works great, and lined up correctly.
Hi,
a little more info... i ordered the original samsung cable. the seller assured me its a genuine product.
but it is for the i9000.
is there a chance we have a different mapping for the 3.5 mm connector???
Thank you,
Yossi
one more thing, can anyone check with a multimeter a cable that works, and tell me whre does the yellow plug connection go to in the 3/5mm connector?
mine is like this - the pin goes to the 3rd contact, and the ground goes to the fourth contact.
seems right to me...i dont know why it wouldn't work...
looks like a good quality cable too....
anyone has any idea?
Thanks.
Yossi
guys, on my search i found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741542
i have my cable set the way its mentioned here. can anyone confirm that this setup works with a captivate? not only i9000?
Thanks!

Hi All,
I have a T-mobile tab with an HDMI dock and I have been using it as my media center ever since the motherboard to my HTPC has crapped out. I'm currently running overcome 1.4.2 with UC/OC kernel. My tab works fine with the dock and by that I mean playing movies or streaming from the internet from apps such as "TV shows stream". However when I activate bluetooth it disrupts my viewing anywhere from 8 to 15 minutes whereby causing the video that I was watching to restart. This has happened on my previous Roto rom as well. Again, once I deactivate bluetooth, it works fine. I'm using a logitech PS3 bluetooth keyboard to surf from my couch. Even without the keyboard connected to the tab this problem still occurs. So something with the bluetooth is causing these weird restarts of my media.
Does anyone else having this problem? It is really annoying. Perhaps modifying the bluetooth script or something to that effect is needed. Any ideas anyone? Otherwise I love my tab and even more so with the use of the dock.
Are you using wifi or 3g data when you are in the cradle?

I'm on wifi. Never tried it with 3g.
Okay...so here's some more info. If I keep the logitech ps3 mediaboard keyboard active by moving the mouse or pressing the spacebar every 6 to 10 minutes or so the media continues to play. So it seems that when the keyboard goes into power save mode and disconnects it causes the media...ie: movie, show, or flash video to restart or exit. Does anyone else with an HDMI dock experience this problem? Videos play fine without interruption so long as bluetooth is disabled.
For those of you who aren't experiencing this issue, what brand/type of bluetooth keyboard are you using?
Okay, well it looks like I'm chatting with myself but oh well. Here's another update. Even with keeping the keyboard active through clicks or mouse movements streaming media will still restart after a given time. Usually around 10 minutes or so. Keep in mind that I have now found that it seems to only affect streaming media. Media that's on the tab plays fine with the only interruption being a brief image flicker when the bluetooth keyboard goes to power save mode. I would also like to reiterate that leaving bluetooth active on the tab does not cause any problem, streaming or not. The issues I experience only happen when the logitech mediaboard is on.
I'm hoping that the issue here is with the keyboard alone and not with tab's bluetooth program. To test out this theory I went ahead and purchased another bluetooth keyboard. I found a logitech dinovo mini on ebay for $62 with free shipping. If nothing else, the form factor of the dinovo mini is pretty cool and it has good reviews. Wish me luck with this new keyboard. I'll give an update when I receive and test out the device.
I use the apple mini keyboard, but not tge cradle. I might try it tomorrow. Good luck with the new one.
I got my Dinovo Mini in the mail this morning. It works flawlessly. No more restarts on my media!!! Very nice compact little unit. The only thing it is missing as far as the tab is concerned is a home button. Other than that, a purchase well worth the $62 bucks IMO.
P.S. --> If anyone knows what combo buttons you have to press to simulate a home button please let me know.
HDMI - Flickers
Muh
I have also problems with the Media-Dock and HDMI on my Flatsceen TV.
I'm currently using PDA: JMK.
(Firmware 2.2 / Kernel: 2.6.32.9 / Build: FROYO.XWJMK)
The Error:
The Handshake betwen the Galaxy Tab and the TV looks like it works well. After a couple of seconds I get a perfect picture with Sound. But after 5 seconds the picture disapers. 2 Seconds later it comes back for 1 second, and disapears again. The picture the starts to flicker ... comes, goes, comes, goes ... sometimes I see then snow for a second, then comes the picture back and disapears again ...
What I think what could be the Problem:
I think it could be a problem with HDCP.
What I tested:
I connected the Galaxy Tab with the same cable to a PC-Screen. Perfect picture, no problems!
About the TV:
I tried all HDMI-Ins. Including the one that is special for connecting a PC to the TV. I have no problems with my T-Online Media Resiver (Entertain) connected to my TV over HDMI. And I'm shure that HDCP is used with the T-Online Media Resiver.
Does any one have an Idea how to fix the Problem?
Greetings,
Heavy
I had an issue with the picture going in and out as well. For me the problem was I was low on charge and I had the dock powered by a non stock charger which only trickle charged at most so the picture would keep cutting out every time it told that I was low on battery. This doesnt come up until you get around 10% remaining. That was solved by using the stock charger. The only other time I had an issue is when the tab is not secure in the cradle which was remedied by disconnecting it and then re-inserting it back into the dock.
Hope that helps.

Sorry for posting this in this thread.
But, it would interest me if the HDMI-Dock really needs a USB-power-cable plugged into it to work?
Muh
Yes, the dock needs power to use the HDMI out . . .
My problem for shure does not be casted by power problems. Im getting more and more shure that I have a compatibility problem betwen the Tab and the Toshiba TV.
I will now search in HiFi forums for a fix, and inform you when I figured out something. May be a older firmware could fix it to . . .

Heavy

i cant understand why it needs a usb power cable for hdmi out?
is this really needed technically for it to work?
or is it just, idk to pester us?
because ipad also just has a hdmi adapter thing, where the usb cable is only optional.

I dont know, but without power you will not get any signal . . . I think the dock needs the power . . .
And i can not find any help for my problem in the web. It looks like i am the only one who has this problem.
But I figured out now that the tab is using 1024i as resolution . . . Does any one know if there is a way to switch the output resolutin of the hdmi?

no the tab upscales to 1080p.
there are sometimes problems with tvs that arent fullhd. it has to be fulllhd and not hdready or something inbetween, otherwise there might be problems.
The dock needs a power cube to work. Without one it won't function. However you can use a non stock power supply but you'll end up running down the power, albeit more slowly. Why this is a necessity I'm not sure. I think for the majority of the time you would want to otherwise it will run down the juice pretty quickly since the screen stays on while outputting to the TV.
It is best to have a TV that is full 1080p. My 6 yr old TV is only 1080i but it still works. Others may have varying results.
It would be nice to have a standalone HDMI cable similar to the AV cable but I haven't seen anything like that yet.

In other teste of the docking i did also read 1024i, and thats exactly as what it has been identified by mx tv. My tv can do 1080d, that can not be the problem . . .
May be you can double check as what you tv identifies the signal?
Do you think it coulf be a idea to try an older firmware? Any known changes in the hdmi out in the firmware versions?

Ok, i know now where my problem comes from . . .
The tab realy sends 1080p, but my tv can only do 1080i. :O
Any chance to set the tab to a lower resolution for the hdmi out?
When i connect the tab to a hdmi - vga converter i will lose Audio? Right?
(the tv has a vga in)

VGA:
picture quality loss (like from DVI -> VGA)
no audio support
but its still better than cinch
It work only with android 3.1 and high. Does it work on cm9 4.0.4 ???
anyone know where I can BUY one of these. even on samsungs own site nothing comes up when I search for SE-2188BB
I have a usb enclosure for my T61 optical drive but it does not work on my Note II. it says usb connected and thats it.
Hi, i would like to ask you.
I have i9000 (Samsung Galaxy S1) and i have connected s1 with cm10 to radio system in my car by Tv-out. Everything work perfect. Tvout is working but...
If i shutdown or reboot my s1, tv-out after that is off. I dont know, if is it possible to set tv-out ON permanently.
I tried a lot of ROMs for s1, but in all roms after reboot, tvout is off.
Thank you

This is something I'm also interested in, is it possible to have the tv-out active even after shutdown? Or maybe have an automated script which does this after the device turns on?
@ Vulcan - Which ROM are you currently using, and does it support OTG?
TIA
I have Cyanogenmod 10.0.0. I have tried a lot of ROM, but always after reboot, i had TV-Out disabled.
Today, i installed "Bot Maker" application, where you can record touches on your phone and after that, you can repeat touches by one-click to widget.
I know, it's not good solution, but it's temporary solution
I haven't tried OTG yet. I'm going to try it tomorrow night and i will inform you.

Thanks man, appreciate it ... I'm considering getting one Galaxy S Plus for a DIY project, and was wondering for starters whether the tv-out is available on some other ROMs (the official last one was 2.3 I believe)
So, I've obtained the phone for my project, and it is actually a Galaxy S Plus (i9001) ... and I have the Nokia CA-75U video cable ... the audio works, the video doesn't ... tried inverting the signal-mass trick, no change ... anyone has a helpful tip how to get the image to be outputted? The Nokia's cable is fine (tested with the multimeter), the phone has a stock 2.3.5 firmware, and I have the TV-out option available in the Display settings

I am probably too late to the party but ill post this answer anyway for other with this problem
I had been trying long and hard to find the right combination for the TV out cable and finally stumbled upon this youtube video that explained exactly what you need to do to get it to work.

I am not posting any pinout as that just adds to the confusion. Just follow the instruction in the video and it should work.
Hey guys, I asked this question on AndroidCentral and no replies since 2 weeks, so I'm asking here
I have a 2016 Golf which has Android Auto.
I also have an old Galaxy Note 2 (SGH-1317M) which runs very fine but wasn't compatible with Android Auto.
Yesterday, I rooted the device and flashed a new rom to 5.1.1
For now, Google lets me download the Android Auto app on the phone. However, when I connect it to my car, it says that my device is not compatible. I am also able to open the app on my phone but it says that my phone is not compatible either.
Is there a way to change the "name" of my device to make it compatible at that point (I heard a build.prop file but i'm not sure).
For now, the device model in my settings is "GT-N7105". Let's say I would change the name for the Galaxy Note 5 name.
Before modifying the Build.prop, I just want to make sure that it will work.
Thanks!
Hi all,
I'm looking as well for such kind of information - I have a Galaxy S3 but saw tha same as in the box from MAAYO...
So, anyone has a solution to this?
Best Regards
Magic01
Look in to changing the name on the build prop, but i dont think its going to help. For the most part i think the hardware set is whats preventing it from working. Some phones dont have MHL to connect to the head unit, and some only work with the international version of the phone.
My wife's phone (doogee f5) doesn't have MHL but it works with android auto, so I don't think that's the problem.
OTOH mine (homtom ht7 pro) doesn't work.
Both phones run android 5.1 and have the same set of codecs, if is there a way to make mine work by tweaking the build.prop I'd really like to know.
Edit I just checked and my son's phone (moto e 2nd gen.) also works, so it's not the memory either (1 GB on the moto e vs. 2 on mine). It seems the only phone that's not working is mine
Google dropped MHL in favor of Cast. None of their software will require MHL.
Note that Nexus 6 completely lacks MHL, yet is fully compatible with AA.
Yes, as you say (and as I have tested) the lack of MHL cannot be the cause of the incompatibility.
The help(less) center tells that the cause could be a missing codec or not enough ram, but it cannot be neither the codecs (both phones have the same set of codecs available) nor the ram (I checked with a moto e with just 1GB ram and it has no problem connecting to the in dash display).
Google should tell the exact cause of the incompatibility, so we could at least know if a tweak of build.prop could fix the issue
Oh, wait, maybe that's the reason they don't....
