First and foremost, thank you for attempting to help.
I recently rooted my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7' for ATT. I put the Overcome v3.1.0#16 rom on the device. I can not access 3G though.
I remember when the device was stock, there was a way to add funds in order to use 3g. I do not see this anymore. I followed some other steps making sure the APN was correct, etc. I can not access 3g though.
Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thank you.
Try flashing a modem from the overcome site? If your apn settings are correct, thats the only thing I can think of.
Sent from my "better than an iPad" tab... Running Overcome GINGERBREAD!!!
I sent him the at&t account app so he can use the sim card that came with the tab.
to follow up on the advice already given by friend btyork, I would recommend the JK3 modem.

Hey everyone,
I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S from Sasktel sometime in mid-october. This is the first android phone I've ever had, and after a few days i decided to try to root it. The rooting process went fine and I had absolutely no problems with my phone. However, i eventually decided to try a custom ROM. I went with Darky's Raw Steel Edition from this forum but after i successfully installed it (v2.2) I could no longer connect to the data network. I could still make calls and receive texts, but any sort of internet connection wouldn't work. When version 3.0 of the rom came out I installed it but had the same problem. I thought my best option at this point would be to just restore to the stock 2.1 firmware. I wasnt exactly sure what my phone had been on when i bought it, but i decided that I9000XWJM9 from samfirmware would be my best bet. I flashed with odin, and now I have no network connection at all! Does anyone know what my problem could be? Thanks so much to anyone who can point me in the right direction!
Find your apn settings from your provider or google it and it is is this forum aswell where theres list of them just enter your apn settings for your provider manually.

Thanks for the help! However, I'm having some trouble finding the APN settings for sasktel, if anyone could post a link or something that would be great. And gadgetcheck, I think you gave me the wrong link, it takes me to like a media site with nothing about APN settings as far as I can see.

the SaskTel i9000m stock firmware is JH2. If you're going to use a custom rom, use Doc's. That's what I'm currently using, no issues whatsoever (also on SaskTel in Saskatoon ) If you need the apn settings, let me know, and I'll just copy them out for you, but I'm pretty sure Doc's rom already has them, as I never had to add them. Though maybe they just carried over from my JH2 install?
Just flashed the new gingerbread rom. Works great but it doenst recognize my sim card or network. I have att tab. Any help to restore it?
Did you remember to download the Modem package too? That's what I'm guessing.

Did you flash the version with the bootloader? Any whiteline issue on boot?
No I didn't download or flash a modem do I need to? I flashed the one with the bootloader. No whiteline I noticed.
I flashed with bootloader, tried 2 different modems, and no network. wifi works. tried flashing back to stock and everything went crazy. While I was using Odin, I STUPIDLY, plugged in my Captivate to charge without thinking, causing Odin to fail and I got the "phone - ! - PC" Icon.......talked about scared! Ended up using Roto's ATT stock image and Odin to get it back running again, barely. Now I get CRAZY lines when I boot (like if you tweaked the cable to an LCD screen), can't see Recovery screen....total craziness. Still no data. so I flashed back to OverCome Gingerbread ROM following his instructions, still no data
UNTIL
I swapped the SIM card with my phone. I suddenly got data on my Tab, but data would not function on my phone. Seems like the problem follows my SIM. Background: I also had a weird issue before hand where I couldn't open the Market on Cellular data without killing the data connection on Stock Rooted.
Thought I'd share.
EDIT: oh, and I can send text messages without issue.
Go to Settings, Wireless & Network, Mobile Networks, Access Point names and make sure you have one called Broadband (assuming you are on the ATT monthly data only plan)
If you dont, create a new APN and name it Broadband & make the APN Broadband as well. Just leave the other options and save it & select it.
I think by default it comes up with the ATT wap.cingular APN with doesnt work with the Tab Data plan.

Well Son of B....you rock. What pisses me off is I've screwed up my boot screen (all kinds of colored lines) trying to fix this. Thanks.

Gingerbread 2.3.3 installed modem does not work
AT&T monthly pay as you go. What modem.bin do I load? Where can I get it. Is there any additional setup instructions?
Follow my instructions above and flash the JK3 modem fromt this thread.

Mine keeps saying insert sim card to access. So how do I get it to recognize the sim?
Please anyone with some help? Can I store back to original att froyo and just wait for official upgrade?
Have you guys entered in your APN settings for ATT Broadband?
I am also having a strange radio issue. I am using an ATT Tab with Overcome v2.0 Beta 2 and the JK3 modem. 3G data works great until I try to access the Google Android Market. As soon as I do it drops the 3G connection and wont come back until I reboot it. If I dont go to the market or only go to the market on WiFi it works just fine. I also verified that the same behavior happens with the JPZ modem..
My theory is somehow ATT is blocking Gingerbread Tabs from going to the market using their SIM card. Therefore I think maybe I need to edit my build.prop to spoof them. Can anyone recommend which values should be changed? Can anyone think of anything else that could cause this? Can anyone reproduce this issue on their ATT tab?

You used the bootloader patch app, right?
Reinstall the stock 2.3, then the root, then overcome. Follow the overcome guide, this time put the modem.bin in the phone slot in odin. There is no other fox for the wiggly lines. If you don't reflash everything, you can't get into recovery mode.
i cant get into the network settings as it tells me to insert a sim. I tried to flash the modem as well with no luck.
ok so I turned on my tab to play with it a bit and I had data! It was an H and seemed to work. When I restarted the tab it stopped working and said no sim again.
1) The Gingerbread rom has a modem with it that works fine on AT&T.
2) Did you leave your sim card in while flashing?
i did leave my sim in while flashing. Should I have it out? It seems the tab only recognizes the sim card every so often. Not all the time. Any way to flash the sim recognition part?
Could you please post how you flashed your att tab so I can follow it? Thanks.
Hi,
First time poster here, so I apologize ahead of time for any mistakes. So my question is, is it possible to enable phone calls using the Overcome 1.6.4 rom. I have a T-Mobile Galaxy Tab. It's been flashed with the Tmobile modem, but calls end right away when dialing. Ive read practically every guide regarding enabling phone calls on the galaxy tab. From what Ive read, most of the guides require you to flash a different rom (Euro) I believe. I know I would only get edge when using it as a phone, which I am fine with. What do I need to do to enable the phone feature on just the Overcome rom or do I need to follow the guides and flash a different rom? I would be using a T-mobile sim card, do I need to delete the efs folder after backing it up as well? Thanks in advance.
Nothing?
No one has an answer?
Google "t-mobile rotohammer modem switcher"
Thx in advance for any help resolving this issue. I have a US T Mobile galaxy tab, model SGH-T849 with a T Mobile sim card. I used the Overcome guide to flash my ROM and it seemed to be working flawlessly. I can text message but I can not make phone calls or use the data services for internet. I am using kernel version 2.6.35.7 Overcome-v3.3.1 #101. Thx again for any help resolving this issue.
I believe that Tmo specifically blocks its Gtabs (based on MEID) from any data services except that "approved" for tablet use (e.g. the $30/mo data option). This is one of the reasons why I bought an AT&T Gtab instead, to use on Tmo.
But I would think that voice calls should work as you as long flashed in the right modem... don't think they are blocking those, although they could (maybe they do, that's the problem?) Check your modem...
I flashed in Kratos on the AT&T tab and both Tmo voice and data work fine (limited to EDGE, though).
I'm using the modem from the T Mobile folder, I'll flash it again but is there a reason it would allow texting and no talking?
search for two threads " t-mobile redirect" and "roto modem switcher" follow the directions from both those and your t-mobile tab with kratos will be all set

Thx I got the phone part working but I'm still having problems fixing the data. I have done a lot of tinkering since I flashed the rom and could have made a mistake somewhere. I'm gonna do a clean flaw of the ROM and follow the directions again for redirect and modem switcher. I will post my results when finished.
I did a fresh install of the Overcome ROM,
Installed modem switcher,
Followed redirect procedure and everything works fine.
thx again for the help!
I had a tab on the overcome rom, enabling the phone feature on rogers. it's working great, no problem.
I sold to a dude who wants to use a DATA ONLY plan. The tab doesn't recognize it at all.
Is this a modem issue? Do I simply flash it with the appropriate modem?
