I have a Streak 7 with android 2.2.2 on it. And rooted.
I cant seem to download some app's.
Facebook, messenger, and a few more.
This doesn't make since.
Can someone help?
Have you tried the Amazon App store?
I have the same problem. Apps that say they are compatible and that I installed on my ZTE Blade and Mid7 tab won't install on the Streak. Trying to install Lookout and WiFi Sync Manager.
Anyone got any ideas on this one. I could find the apks and force install but would prefer to do it through the market

Those should all work on 2.2.2. Try clearing cache and data on your Market and starting fresh (Home---> Menu---> Settings---> Applications---> Manage Applications---> All---> Market---> Force Stop, Clear Cache, Clear Data; restart and open your Market). Doesn't affect anything and it's worth a shot.
Did you flash 2.2.2 rooted, or root 2.2.2? If the above doesn't work, you may have a corrupted Market. If that's the case, download the new Market apk here:

Tried the market reset, no difference, then installed the new market and still no difference. I have a new streak 7 with 2.2.2 installed and rooted using gingerbreak.

I just tried installing the Facebook app on 2.2.2 (Streakdroid 1.3), and had no issues with it. Unless someone has a better idea, I would recommend doing one of the following:
1. Install via the web based market.
2. Load up ClockworkMod Recovery (via ROM Manager; available in the market) and flash a new ROM. I'd go with Streakdroid if you don't need WiFi, stock/rooted 2.2.2 if you do.
Sounds like you got a bad update, but I can't say for sure. If you install a custom ROM and still have no luck, it may be something specific to your Google account (though I should think that would be far less likely than something being wrong with your particular firmware on your S7).

Hello All,
I used to be on RoDrIgUeZsTyLe MUIU rom and bunch of other custom roms. Every rom has its ones pros and cons but were not very stable. So, I thought I will go back to stock. So, I flash stock rom and stock recovery and received OTA update and installed the updates. Now my phone is on the below version.
Android Version 2.2.1
Build Number - FRG83D
Market Version - 2.12
Baseband Version - 32.26.00.28U_4.06.00.12_7
I was able to successfully download and install many apps but whenever I try to download YouTube I always get "Installation of Youtube unsuccessfull" message. Also, I researched and saw that some people in Europe on Vodafone rom are having this issue. How do I know if my android version is totally stock?
Do you guys have any ideas on how I can successfully install this app without having to root my phone again? I would like to stay stock and unrooted if possible.
Thanks.
use titanium or manually uninstall the current youtube app, reboot then try to install again. Its because its a system app currently. youll probably have to do the same for car home, street view and a few others
I am un rooted, so I won't be able to use titanium. how do I uninstall manually though? I didn't have any issues installing other apps like street view etc.
Make sure the app is installed on your phone, and unmount the SD before updating...

I tried un mounting SD card and installing and still that didn't work. Thanks for trying to help though.
Try uninstalling the old version of YouTube first.

....if you do not have root access how were you flashing an miui rom?
I was getting the exact same thing as you were, all you need to do is remove the old youtube app
good luck
Thanks for the responses. Like I said in my post I was rooted before but un rooted and went to complete stock 2.2.1. I know uninstalling youtube would resolve this issue but I am trying to find a way to uninstall the app without being rooted.

I have a Galaxy S I9000M, just came back from repair at the Montreal Repair Depot.
Had some trouble unlocking it to run on Fido network, but finally got that working using Helroz's unlock tool (so, phone is rooted) and unlocked).
Used it for a little while (about an hour) installed a couple of apps, and now, suddenly, I cannot install apps from the Android Market. When I try to install, the app goes through the process of downloading, but then it does nothing. I get no error message, no notice of install failing, the app download indicator disappears from my notification area, and the app is not installed.
Has anyone else run into this issue?
Any idea of a fix? I have powered off/on, no change. I would prefer to avoid having to factory reset, but will do so if absolutely necessary.
Thanks in advance for any input.
Having the same exact problem here...
same issue
Same thing is happening to me as well. It started after I rooted my phone using super one click root.
I also used super one click root on my phone, but the if that's the cause of the problem, then it doesn't cause it right away. I was able to install several apps after rooting, then suddenly I couldn't install anything.
I have read that for some people, unmounting the SD card will work. i had an external SD card installed, but i had that in before I downloaded apps that installed properly. For me, unmounting (and removing) the external SD card did not have any effect on my problem.
For what it's worth, I'm not running any special ROm or anything - just standard Froyo 2.2 (JL2) as released by Samsung for the Bell I9000M (I didn't upgrade, it shipped back from repair with JL2 installed).
Same here

let the market update the new version of maps and itll work. its workin now for me.
How can I force Maps to update?
Just some info guys: it seems to be a known issue. Checked the help in the main Market page: http://market.android.com/support/bin/static.py?page=known_issues.cs .
It's under download and installation issues. Please report it if you're having the same problem so they can fix it faster.
Ok the problem seems to be fixed by downloading/updating the Google Maps app. If it still doesn't work make sure to:
-clear data on the market app
-restart your phone
-update Google map and let it install fully
Galaxyluv, can you tell me how to force Maps to update itself? I cannot find any option to make it update

I am not really sure, mine showed that it needed an update. Maybe you can try to uninstall/install Google Map again and make sure to clear data on the market application FIRST.
After clearing my Market cache, and uninstalling market updates, market re-updated itself, and I can now install apps again (who knows fo how long, though). Hopefully, it will stay and i will stay happy.
Under Manage Applications I can't uninstall Market Updater for the above solution.
Any help?
im haviing the same issue guys, i have put a post up with same sort of problems

gonna try this now cheers
Sorry could I get some clarification on the suggestion jayisgod posted? Cos Im obviously missing something here.
I personally force stopped the market App, cleared the data in Manage Applications (btw the Cache button is grayed out) and then restarted the Market app (Agreed on the terms blah blah) and still get the same issue.
Btw in Manage Applications -> All I can see a Market Updater package but I can't delete it or force stop it (both options are grayed out).
Thanks
PS: I am using Darky's Rom V9.1 if that makes any difference

Is the new market pushed to our phones automatically? I'm on CM7.1 nightly. Just wondering if I should just install it manually or wait.
Thanks!
Why not install manually in any case?
Look for 3.0.27

Good point, not like it would make a difference. Thanks Jack.
is it still enormous? The last time I tried installing it the thing was 8mb in size...seriously hurt my poor n1's space-free so i uninstalled it.
It has always auto update for me. You can wipe data for market using TB to speed up the process.
If not you can manually install it, make no diffrent how you get it, work the same.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
wiped with TB, rebooted and received the new market
@disgustip8ted If you are rooted and have Titanium Backup installed (you might need the pay version... I can't remember), you can select these updates and merge them back into the ROM to replace the original market. This will clear up all that space.
@baseballfanz My market update worked every time except for this last one. I was at the old one until I decided to wipe and update my gapps to T's latest unofficial gapps file with the #151.
Uninstalled it too. New Market was too slow and clunky for me.
Hi there, i bought a Nexus S to replace the Xperia X10, and i notice that i can not update the market, i am stuck at 2.3.6.
i went to apps managemet and uninstalled the "updates" and clear the data for the market app but it doesn't work, it keep downloading the 2.3 version instead of the 3.1 version.
In the X10 the market updates correctly so it is not a country related problem.
any ideas???

I wish I could keep the old market. The new one is slow, laggy, having strange bug of it wanting to attach itself to another Gmail I have, and I have no need for books or movies.
If I pull the new out and install old, the new one updates all by itself. I don't know he it's possible to keep the market from updating itself.
Look under /system/app for MarketUpdater.apk and either delete it or change the permissions to 000.
Then go to manage applications and uninstall market update.
Your market will now stay the same

As far as the market goes.....
Make sure you have the MarketUpdater.apk in /system/app. Also clear try clearing data for the market under settings-->applications-->manage applications
And for the software updates....
What version do you have? Because not all models and carriers are at the same software build number.
i haven't rooted the phone, and it is stock.
i am the only one with this problem???
my phone is factory unlocked and it is a i9020a phone.
Its not a "problem". The update isn't instantly pushed to all phones right away. It gets pushed in stages or something to that effect.
Edit:

Download it, put on SD card and install

yes i undesrtand that, but there is a previus version i think is the 3.1.3, and i can't get that version too, and it's released months ago, the strange thing is that i can update to the green version 2.3.1 from the grey one (i don't remenber the version but it's one of the first market available).
3.1.3 was never released to our nexus s
Hi,
I had thesame problem as you are experiencing now. Tried the downloaded version but uninstalled it.
Since this morning i have the official market app.
This is how i got it, maybe it has nothing to do with it but its worth a try.
- go to settings and enable location via.Wifi and cellular
- go to app management and remove cache, app data and the market updates you might have
- in the launcher open market app, accept terms and let it load to home screen
- push home button
- lock your phone for about 15minutes
You should have the new market now. I tried this twice and both times it worked then i disabled the location setting and it didnt work.
Hope this helps you.

@p.pavljasevic, your method confirmed working, I just did mine and got 3.1.5 now.
I stop trying long time ago thinking it might've been not pushed to the phone yet, I just tried it and it worked.

Ok, the wifi and gps location was activated, i uninstalled the market updates and clead data and i went back to 2.13 version (the grey one), wait a few minutes and the 2.3.6 version was installed (the green one). I also tried turning wifi and gps off and no luck
someone says that the 3.1.3 version was never pushed to nexus, anyone else experienced that??
I am glad that it worked for at least one more person, hope it can help more people.
I dont know if and when 3.1.3 was released but i am on 3.1.5 now.

Hi All,
Honestly I have searched for this everywhere.....
Can't get the iPlayer App to work. I'm running Milestone AOKP 4 at the moment as the TP came with this pre-installed from ebay. (ITV Sort of Works) Embedded flash also doesn't work and I am redirected to the flash site which says I have it....
I've also downloaded FlashPlayer 11 from the market but that doesn't seem to work. Can anybody help me?
I'm new to flashing with Mboot & ACME (Not really used either) But very comfortable with ROM Manager and CWM Recovery stuff)
Also whenever I go to youtube on the browser (stock / Chrome Beta) it force closes and I have to restart the app. YouTube App is working fine.
Is anyone else experiencing these issues? Is it recommended to move to CM9 Nightlies or Alpha2?

Try doing a wipe / factory delete, wipe dalvik cache and install the latest nightly.
There are many free apps in the market, like doubleTwist, that are great media players.
I don't use Chrome. Dolphin HD, Opera and icsbrowser+ are what I use. Some things that one can't do, one of the others can.
Your can flash using cwm, install zip from sdcard, but you won't have data. But if you have a backup, you can try and restore data using CWM advanced restore > restore data. That's what I do.
Good luck.
Edit: Boot into webos and make sure it's up to date. Should be 3.0.5. Also install the speed tweaks, preware and patches /kernels.

I guess the webOS version doesn't really matter if you only run android. But I use webOS quite a bit. It's a great os, you'll also find that the battery life is much, much better.
