Recently rooted my book and when i try to open youtube it opens then closes immediately. Any feedback?

It's a known issue. Use Titanium backup to clear cache for YouTube app and it should run fine until you put nook to sleep. Or install different YouTube.apk, but I don't know which one, sorry.

This should help.
For how long this fix will work? My concern is "it should run fine until you put nook to sleep" from MK[PCTF] at previous post.

Don't worry about that... I did it once about 2 weeks ago and never had to repeat it. I guess it is safe to call it a "permanent" fix

Thanks, bro
This didn't work for me. But long before I did sign in youtube with a wrong account ******@youtube.com, and every 5 minutes get a google sign-in fail asking for password but can't do anything about it. So I tried the wrong thing, uninstalling a installing a diferent apk. So learn from me.
Can this be fixed through ADB by pushing an app to system/app? if so how, I'v been eyeing this thread --->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910008 , but I don't feel very conformable with commands, I don't want to mess my nook up.
Just look on the forums youtube.apk uninstall your current version, copy the apk to your memory and install it using some file browser. It worked for me
I already tried, with 3 different: app installer, ES file explorer & Astro. No luck, thanks though

Hello XDA, this is my first post, as searching has answered all my questions until now.
I installed cm07 builds 13 and 14 several times over the last two days and can't seem to get flashplayer to work. I uninstalled and reinstalled it several times. I've gone as far as to completely formatting my internals before reinstalling and nothing is working. I'm currently running cm07 build 14 with dalingrin's kernal. I appreciate any help.

Im still running Nightly 8 but as Far as I know Flash is working perfectly for CM7 on all builds of it.
What are you trying to do? what website are you going to and what browser are you using?
I had same problem
Used root explorer, set data/app to rw and renamed flash.apk to flash.apk.bak
Rebooted, downloaded flash from market
It works now

Thanks for the responses.
I just tried renaming rebooting and downloading and it didn't help.
When I go to www YouTube com and click on a video, I always get the same error message: cannot play video. It does it on both HQ and standard video.
Not sure what else it can be other than flashplayer. It used to work fine on Nookie Froyo ...

Any other ideas?

I was under the impression that flash not working on CM7 was a known issue that they were working on. I would imagine it will be fixed in a matter of days.

Not from everything I've read. Flash is supposed to work and apps like YouTube are are the ones they are working on.

Flash works in browser only. My experience is that it is a little choppy for video though.

I used Browser, went to www.youtube.com and it automatically changed it to mobile. Finally, I found a setting marked Desktop and the result was typeface that required an electron microscope to read (even zooming did not help much).
I found a video and the result was "You need to install Flash 10.1" and a link to do which required the world's smallest finger not to click on the ad right below.
Finally got it installed and Flash works in Youtube Desktop in Browser, but video still does not work in Youtube Android App

you got it. youtube app does not work with cm7 yet because they do not have hardware video acceleration working. I think this is posted at least 1000 times
an easier way to get flash is to download it from the market.

If you are seeing "Super Manager(battery,SD etc)" by "ipop", that is not the real Super Manager.
I don't see Super Manager on my Froyo SD Nook either. But I see it as number one search result (Super Manager by Gpc) on my phone.
I don't have confidence these Market fixes are 100% complete. It seems to help with some apps, but I still seem to be missing a lot of stuff (had to download Firefox last night on my phone and copy to my Nook because it doesn't show up either).
yes, you're right the gpc one is what i was looking for.
i too see it in my phone. i have copied my phone's build.prop fingerprint to NC, but still no luck.
sigh, the app itself is no big deal, i just want to understand how market can tell if my device is eligible for an app.

Try using App Brain. I was able to get it through there (although I don't think it showed up in the regular market)
thanks, i do see it in appbrain, but whenever i click perform install, it redirected to market and then ended up with a msg "requested item is not found."

the easiest thing i found was backing up my apps using appmonster on my phone - then uploading them to my dropbox account- then installing them from my dropbox to my nook.
this of course only works with apps on your phone that you backed up; and it really is kind of a hassle if you are searching for new apps.
I don't know if this is a problem related to the recent patch for ROM Manager, but I upgraded that app and it didn't fix it, so...
Anyway, I have two apps giving me fits right now:
Amazon's new MP3 Cloud player for Android, and "Good (for Enterprise)", which is a corporate email reader.
Both apps complain that my cell network isn't enabled. Both apps should work find over WiFi, and they are communicating with their servers in some capacity, because they are able to tell the difference between a valid login and an invalid one. But once I enter a valid login, they both complain that I need to enable my cell network.
Any suggestions?

I'm not sure what you mean. I'm on WiFi, and I can connect to Amazon's web page fine. But when I login to the app using my amazon account, it complains about not being connected to a cell network. Why would it care if I'm on wifi?
Do you have the phone.apk telephony.apk and mms.apk renamed or removed by chance? The app could just be looking for those.
Ahhhhh, I see...
You mean like this thread?

I haven't done anything like this on purpose. I'm running the stock ROM with eclair and rooted via autonooter. Can I check for them using a file manager or ADB?
Ran into the same problem when I tried running the Yelp app on my Nook Color. Kept crashing on the install. After passing emails and logs back and forth with Yelp it turns out it crashing when it's looking for a phone, even though I'm on wifi.
He said they'd fix it in the next major release.
Robert
I just updated my NOOK app and it does not run. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with the same result. Anyone else gotten the updated nook app that came out today running under CM7?
EDIT: Never mind. I cleared Data and then it was able to run. . . It does require a complete reload of all of your books due to a new architecture. . . so bear that in mind. . .
Hopefully this addresses the general crappy performance the old nook app had under cm7. I swear every other app I use works flawlessly. The old nook app constantly forced closes, is very insensitive to touches, and just plain old sucks. Eventually when you got it to load a book it is pretty stable but will still lose your spot every so often.
It drove me to set up dual boot stock/cm7. I am booting back to CM7 now to test the new version out!

agreed, not really impressed with the nook app, it does work though (newest update). irritates the hell out of me when it loses my place, i've found that the bookmark feature seems to work if I can remember to use it lol.
The only reason I use the Nook app is to show off to my little niece about the page-flip feature, that's all.
I read .epub using either Cool Reader or Aldiko while using Adobe Reader for .pdf.
How did you install the the 2.7 update? While the nook app shows up in the Market, there is no option to install or update. When I go to the web based Market interface, it claims that the nook app is not compatible with my CM7 Nook Color. I've tried the usual fixes like editing the build.prop file for screen density (160/161) and also to make the device/manufacturer appear to be HTC. No luck. I found a 2.6 apk that works fine, but have yet to find a 2.7 apk outside the Market. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Uninstall the market update and you can search it and it will have a download button.
I wish the nook app supported the "read to me" books that I bought and now can't use unless I put stock back on my nook. I'd like to also be able to read them on my phone or another tablet.

I am running into the same issue with Phiremod'd 6.3 and the B&N android app.
However in my case, once uninstalled (original was corrupt and would not work), returning to the Android Marketplace and selecting the app does not bring up a download button. Gives me all the info about the application, but no app download or uninstall.
Any thoughts as to why this is happening? If it were windows, I'd say there was a registry setting left that was making the system think the app was still installed...

I have a quick question: is it possible to lock the old market down so it doesn't auto-upgrade. Every now and then, out of the blue, I fire up the market only to find that the app has updated. I can then stop the Market and uninstall updates. But it's a pain in the a$$ to do that over and over and over...
Uninstall the market updater app. (I used Titanium Backup for that.)
