Iphone 4 vs Samsung Galaxy S2 - Off-topic

What is your personal opinion about the 2 phones.
Sent from my Rooted GT-I9100 Cognition S2 v1.08 using XDA Premium App

My opinion is that they cannot be compared. Not because of the fanyboyism that will blind some, but that they are entire different generations of hardware. The iPhone 4 was released over a year ago, and the Galaxy S2 was just released. The original Galaxy S is what should be compared to the iphone 4 because of the similar specs/release date. Saying that I feel the Galaxy S2 is obviously the superior phone.

simply just own both of them. i used to have 4 iphones back in august. 1 2g, 2 3g, and a 3gs 32gb.

I prefer just to have one phone, and spend more money on cheese.

I'm neutral, but interesting to note that Samsung Galaxy S outsold iPhone 4 in Q1 of this year in Japan. That's quite an achievement for a single Android device.

You can't compare them, the galaxy obviously has better hardware and it runs Android, can't compare any Android device with any ios device in my opinion there both in classes of there own, the only true test would be to run Android on the iPhone and vice versa, but in terms of hard ware the 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor in the 4 hasn't got any where near the power of the Dual-core 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 proccessor, then the g2 has double the RAM and full hd recording, there is no contest, is have one but I'm a HTC man just waiting for them to release a nice big dual core

And buttered toast. And tea while you're at it.

galaxy has better harware

Compared to the S2, the iPhone 4 is WORTHLESS in every aspect. It's not even a comparison, they're worlds apart.

Have a SGS and a iphone 4,
Overall like the SGS more for tweeking, gave the iphone 4 to my GF and she loves it lol

So, according to you, the iPhone is like your d!ck?
I jest, I jest.

I think this will be an endless loop, cuz igone 5 will be better, den sgs3 will be better and so on
Sent from my GT-I5801 using XDA App

Well, the Loyal Apple Users will obviously always choose iPhone 4 over any other phone, without comparing the hardware. In terms of software, it all comes down to personal choice really. Some people prefer the iOS, while most others prefer Android. But the Samsung Galaxy S II beats the iPhone 4 hands down when it comes to hardware, so its obviously the better phone imo.

Lots of people find Touchwiz horrible
Touch wiz is more comparable to iOS than stock android is I would say. Plus, all of the must have apps that he mentions are also available on the S3.
As a new iPhone 5 owner, I actually agree with him - Jellybean is the best mobile OS - but the difference between the S3 and Nexus 4 is negligible, in my opinion.

I can't stand touchwiz. The core android functionally is there on the S3, but I can see why he likes the N4. Simple is beautiful.
You should post this article on some iPhone forum, and not on a Nexus 4 forum. There you might be able to convert some people. We know that the Nexus 4 is streets ahead.

The only difference between s3 and nexus is come may and we will be rocking key lime Poe and S3 users will have to wait for 3-4 months for it.. By Dec we will have another update for us where as s3 users won't know if they'll get it or not since s4 would be release by then.

Android os is better but an iPhone is a better phone overall. Battery and screen are amazing. Nexus 4 screen is nothing brag about. The price is the main bragging point.

What phone compliments the nexus 7

Currently using an iPhone 4s alongside my nexus 7, OK its nice to have best of both world type devices, but I would like to use my nexus to be able to use mighty text type apps so I think its time to grab another android phone, got an option locally a guy wants to swap his galaxy note, but I'm thinking this is pretty close in size, what would you recommend?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Galaxy Nexus all the way. The Nexus 4 is too fragile and not worth the hassle in my opinion. Sure it has a quad core processor and 2Gb of RAM, but honestly.. who uses that on a phone.
I would recommend the HTC One X, but seriously... After some of the stuff HTC have been doing nowadays, I struggle to recommend HTC.
I have an original GNote and can't imagine having any thing else. There is a bigger difference in size then you would think.
And remember "When you go Note, 4 inches is a joke".
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I am finding N4 compliments N7 greatly. Basically you get some great raw power on both devices, but the tegra in the N7 give way for different, but complimentary usage. Tegra exclusive games run with great power, while N4 runs non tegra with even greater power.
Maybe it was a design decision so that both devices have equal usage. XD
Well screen size is also a factor. I am not so interested in watching video on the N4. Still I find myself using both devices at once a lot. N7 definitely being the couch/bed lazy movie viewing device.

Mainly camera functions. Maybe Samsung should focus more of their energy into camera.

Happens in every forum. Everybody loves the phone they have and will defend it ruthlessly. When another, newer phone comes out people bash it. Just how it is. The sgs4 is a nice phone. Its not a let down or disappointment. Its just not a nexus. Nexus gets first updates and amazing development. That's what matters to me the most.

After the nightmare of dealing with Samsung and ODIN I vowed NEVER to own a Samsung Phone again. SGS4 looks like more of the same as the SGS3 and as someone called it the SGS3s That is exactly Samsung's strategy. They are copying Apple even more in this regard. They will keep the SGS3 going for another year as the more "Affordable" SGS like they were doing with the SGS2 recently. Notice all the Deep discounts for the SGS3 lately? I can't wait to get my self all on the Nexus Line (as well as my Wife). Tired of all these bad Custom UIs and Carrier Hostage crises.

It depends on a screen size (and free funds to spend of course ). If the screen size is 5" or bigger I will consider N4 of HTC One.

My upgrade is in September so I still have some time to go. If Google comes out with a vastly improved nexus without a recycled design from another device. By vastly improved I'm talking about Camera quality, LTE, full HD screen and battery life. Sure I'll go for the nexus 5 but if they don't improve all those than I'm going to contemplate jumping ship.

Hmmmm...Nexus 5. If you'll note, the current nexus lineup are all named according to the display size. For Google to add a 4th nexus device to the lineup is unlikely (to much to manage), so the best guess is a refresh of the nexus 4, possibly by another manufacturer, and probably later in the year. What we can expect for I/O is a refresh on the nexus 7 (with the same name), and possibly a non-nexus device from Motorola that runs stock Android.

I think we could expect a new phone as well. Considering that key lime pie is a major update, there is bound to be new features for phones not just tablets. So they will be probably need another device to show off the new features of the new build. I'm doubting they will use a nexus 4 as a demo device, its already fairly old news.

I'll sneak in here among the hail of bullets Samsung is receiving to shoot my praise.

I haven't used a Samsung device in over a year (S2). I've been using the HTC One since last April. A great phone, I've been satisfied with it now than any other so far. However I'm looking for a change now, and the S5 looks perfect. I am super excited to get it!
My biggest gripes with the One was the non-removable battery firstly, and lack of water/dust proofing. Everything else about it is awesome. I'm glad the S5 can take care of those issues for me.
The removable battery is the ONLY thing that would make me consider S5 over the rest. But honestly, if you're on an S4 already, I see absolutely no reason to upgrade.
I've owned the S1, S2, S3, and S4, and each iteration brought big enough leaps that warranted a year over year upgrade (better GPS, bigger screen + higher resolution, significantly faster, etc). Unless you're on a Galaxy device older than an S4, there really is nothing new here.

Everybody is expecting miracles but let's remember one fact: iPhone 4,4s,5,5s all use the same design. And we are talking about 4 years of development, right? I think Samsung has offered a step forward with S5 from 3 points of view: best processor at the time, ip67, and ( o dp really hope) the best camera in a smarphone. I just hoped for 3 gb of ram and minimum 32 Gb internal.
