So i dont know if im the only one who has search for a good LWP of the xoom Boot animation so for all you who have serched well here is a diffrent way of makeing it, if i knew how to code it i would of lol
first off there is an app out that would let you make your own LWP out of images
Search market for LWP Creator
you will also need the boot animation images found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=526522&d=1298587966
extract files and or rename part0 to whatever you like just so you know what it is
transfer files somewhere into xoom memory (remember where you sent them)
after LWP Creator has been installed go to wallpapers, livewallpaper LWPcreator settings uncheck sdcard go to folder path, change placement and sizeing and adjust desired FPS , back, set wallpaper and you got it a live wallpaper of the xoom boot animation, there are other images you can use but i like the stock xoom animation for lwp
youtube link of how it looks (audio is crap so remember to mute it )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLqPf9_PdtM
Curious what is the effect this lwp has on your battery life, if any?
not too sure on battery life i been running LWP on my xoom since i bought it the only thing i noticed that drains my battery is the display itself by that i mean watching movies and so on but other then that not really noticed much else

As we all know, the CoolIris gallery on the Nexus One makes compressed versions of the pictures it has for faster loading times and smoother 3D effects. However, I was not expecting to see the same hideous compression on the wallpapers I download and then apply from the Gallery. They look simply rubbish in the display and that's disappointing. I've attached a screenshot of how this actually looks. The actual wallpaper is actually quite crisp and sharp.
Is there any other way to apply a wallpaper without using the gallery and consequently having it compressed?

Try wallpaper set an save from the market. I only saved a bg, but see if it does the trick

Nope, still looks compressed. Any other options?
Bump. Anyone?
link me the full size picture (upload somewhere) and i'll try a few things here.
The only solution i have found, was to add the wallpaper i didnt want compressed to a launchers default wallpapers. I use ADW, so I replaced the default adw wallpaper with the htc sence wallpaper (the static one). Had to make sure it has the same file name as the one its replacing. I originally did this using metamorph, but that stopped working, so I use "App Manager 4.5" (google it). I copy the AWD Launcher's apk file and use app manager to unzip it, I then replace the wallpapers I want and use app manager to recompile the apk making it usable on the N1 again, and it works like a charm.
The sense wallpaper no longer has the hideous compression it has when applied through the gallery, I was hoping this would be solved with froyo's release, if only to be applied to wallpapers only, but I guess not, till then, this is the method I have to use for the wallpapers which are affected.
I use "My Gallery" to avoid the wallpaper banding issue. It by-passes the 3D Gallery when choosing an image to be set as a wallpaper. The troubles with "My Gallery" are 1) it cant crop the image to fit the phone resolution. So large images must be pre-cropped. 2) The image organization is horrible. It doesnt have any function to go to specific directory. It'll just dump every image it could find on the SD or internal mem. If you have loads of images, there'll be a lot of scrolling involve.
All,
Where should I put my images that I would like to use for wallpapers? Even with the stock images, I noticed that depending on what menu I used to set the wallpaper, some were resized strangely.
NC 1.1 Autonooter 3.0 Zeam Launcher.
Thanks!
where you put them shouldn't impact the image size. you can put wallpaper images anywhere really. i put them in /media/wallpaper on my sdcard.
I tried saving images from websites using the built in browser and then set them as wallpaper, but that didn't work.
I downloaded Opera Mini from the market and then I could properly save images and set them as wallpaper.
Maybe there is a setting for the native browser that allows for proper saving, but I could not find it. Anyway, Opera is a pretty decent bowser so I'm perfectly happy using it.

Thanks for the tip. But, I'm trying to use my own pictures - not web images.
1200x1024 is the proper size for two screens. 1800x1024 for 3. you could try resizing before setting as wallpaper to see if that works for ya. make sure you expand the box to take up the entire image when selecting it or it will mess up the sizing.

Thanks. Happen to know the right size for 1 screen? is it 600 x 1024? (seems to be if my math is correct)
But, what I'm more curious about is where to put the files. Seems there is a /media/wallpaper on my sd and my internal. Which should I use? I want it to show up in my "wallpaper".
Also, happen to know if it is safe to delete the stock pictures / wallpapers. Some of them are downright ugly.
Thanks!
don't know about deleting the stock images. you could try... i doubt it'd hurt anything, but just to be safe, make sure you nandroid first.
ya... i've never done a single screen, but that is the right math... 600 per screen.
either place will work. i've loaded them in both locations and they work in either.

I had the same problem, solution is to download coveroid. Any wallpaper you want will just go into the coveroid download folder, and then set the wallpaper from inside coveroid. For some reason the non-default launchers cause issues with setting wallpapers, but coveroid seems to fix this.
1200x1024 is the correct size for 5 pages. When you slide from one page to another the background doesn't move by full 600 pixels. It only moves by 150 pixels.
The built-in gallery function scales the pictures in an ugly way when cropping for use as wallpaper. It's a conflict between 3 screens of the B&N Nook and 5 screens of the typical Android launcher.
I followed the sticky with tips and downloaded the Wallpaper Set & Save app. It lets you navigate for pictures through directories and sets them as wallpaper while preserving the resolution if correct to begin with. I'm very pleased with it. My wallpaper now looks correct.
Thanks for the help!
I hope to have some cool wallpapers soon. It helps to have a Pro photographer in the family.
ok so here is a little trick to getting the new honeycomb boot animation as a live wallpaper.
1.go to market and install this app (LWP creator)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748566
then put the folder i made on the root of your SD card then select it and bam you'll have the honeycomb boot animation as your live wallpaper.
edit im gonna upload the file as a zip unpack the file and place the folder on you sd then select the folder in the live wallpaper creator app
EDIT2 here is a small sample as to what the outcome will be ("""but know with better resolution !""")

Thank you for help: BLOWNCO, Simms22
Looks cool!
I noticed 64.png is a little off, you might wanna delete that frame. Also, are there higher resolution of the animation available?

in that folder I upload, is the maximum resolution
(in animation settings I use a 90 FPS)
I know this question has been asked already, but the suggested locations given for Android 2.x don't appear to be the same in Honeycomb.
I applied the wallpaper directly from within my browser (if I recall) and don't have it stored locally in the Pictures or Downloads directories, so I was hoping somebody would know where android caches it. I've had a look through the file system but I couldn't see anything that stood out.
I also tried an app called "Wallpaper set and save", which I thought was going to come through, but the result looked horrid - I suppose that's something to do with using it on HC.
I'm using a stock UK xoom (unrooted).
Any suggestions welcome.
Same here. Looking for answer, please.

The way that honeycomb applies wallpapers is really wacky. If you have 3.1 you will see guides when you crop using the wallpaper tool. If you do not have 3.1, download one of the templates available in the forums and you will see what is "useable".
problem is that HC stock wallpapers are stored inside in Launcher2.apk.
I've just found the way how to set wallpaper in the best quality, resolution and without distortion/blur
If u use this method u not loose any part of your picture cos there is no crop it just fit the whole picture on full screen
All u need is this app MultiPicture Live Wallpaper and its free
So how to ?
-long press on homescreen
-than go to Wallpaper->Live Wallpaper and select MultiPicture Live Wallpaper
-select Setting and set your folder with your wallpapers
Done
This app actually changing the wallpapers in particular time but u can also sett it to use only one picture if u don't like changing
There is a lot more settings what u can play with if u like
So enjoy
Since this was brought up, where does the 2.x Android versions store the current wallpaper?
Can anyone make a transformers type theme but using an android scheme? like the pictures posted. and like a transformers type bootloader using similar android toon scheme. just a thought would be dope if someone can make it as i picture it.
Droid-life.com search Droid prime boot animation. They have a download with sound. Back up the originals, put in media folder, rename sound to Bionic.ogg fix permissions to match originals done.
