I was trying to install DSP manager, and I replaced my libaudioflinger.so with a modified version, I rebooted and was stuck on a boot loop. The thing I didn't do it through CWM or anything, I just pasted the file using a root file manager.
Can anyone give me instructions of how to undo this, please!
additional details:
I use Linux, so Linux instructions would be nice.
I can have adb control over my phone.
The SD card isn't recognized.
These are the instructions that got me into this.
the backup libaudioflinger.so file is in my SD card
Rooted Cricket Zio 2.2, not modded in anyway.
Did you fix permissions?
Try booting ClockworkMod Recovery and run "fix permissions" from within the Recovery.

FYI, I am new to the game
Been doing a lot of research and decided to root with Z4 and to use Rom Manager (rooting isn't the issue). Flash ClockworkMod Recovery works fine. My problem - When attempting to Reboot into Recovery my hero attempts to reboot but stays at the opening HTC image.
Any ideas?
Try to make it go into recovery through ADB. I think that's the command program. Not sure. I'm very forgetful today.
Open up Rom Manager and flash alternate recovery then re-flash Clockwork Recovery. Hope that helps

Wonderful! Alternate worked. Thanks!!!

I was running Cognition 3.02 and wanted to make the jump to 4.1 but have hit a snag. I downloaded the rom and made a backup of the existing one w/ CWM. I moved the rom to the sdcard folder and renamed it update.zip. Then I entered recovery and disabled voodoo lagfix. While still in recovery I select install sdcard: update.zip. During boot up the phone froze in the cognition animation screen for sometime. I then attempted to restore the old rom in recovery mode and it has now gotten stuck in restoring data....type-yc-egg.png
Any ideas on what I did wrong here?
DOH!
Well it seems I muddled my way through it....ended up installing an old version of Cog using the install zip from sdcard option in the recovery menu. Everything booted up fine once this was finished.....whew! Then I downloaded the 4.1 ROM directly to the phone and left it unchanged in the sdcard folder. I then ran it through CWM and everything worked....re-installing apps now
Never change the name of the roms. Leave them the way that you download them.

I imagine the problem is solved but wanted to give my two cents. Update.zip is used not really used for flashing a new rom only for rooting and flashing clockwork.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
If you are simply updating to a newer version of a rom, there's no need to rename it update.zip. Using CWM, enter recovery mode and install. zip from sd card.

I tried flashing it through rom manager but when I went to boot recovery, it didn't show up. I deleted the 3.0.0.5 img. I tried flashing it like 5 times but to no avail.
If you are having flashing issues...try switching to the alternate recovery, bottom of page and then switching back....worked for me...

I think Koush has the older recoveries on his site, just download and flash from Terminal or ADB.
Here are four ways you could flash the recovery: http://romrepo.info/wiki/index.php?title=Flash_the_ClockworkMod_Recovery.
Just replace the file with what you have and any of them should work.
Follow andythegreenguy's post, except that if you have the newest ROM manager and you use Method 2 from the ROMRepo, the recoveries might be in the mirror.kanged.net folder instead of the koush folder. That did the trick for me.

My Tab is rooted and it says I have the correct recovery, yet I can't flash roms/backup current roms/get into Clockwork recovery. Everytime I try to flash something it gets aborted but before that it says Installing MICS failed or something similar. I'm familiar with flashing roms yet I don't know what's going on.

First, download ROM Manager and reflash clockwork mod.

I've done that a few times, still fails.

is you TAB GSM or CDMA? if you TAB is GSM you should use this tutorial . The Kernel it has already the CWM recovery, also will convert your system to Ext4 ..... Did you applied the patch from here . I believe you have a protected bootloader....
Thanks for the info. I'm not by a pc but it seems I don't need the secondary link, it seems I don't need the patch because it already is patched. And I have a gsm tab.

I just wanted to chime in to say that I'm having this problem too. I've rooted using the the proper steps and installed tom manager and downloaded the lastest cwm. I tell it to reboot and I get the aborted, signature cannot be verified blah blah.
I tried everything step over and over again and I always get that error so I cannot get into cwm.
Like the OP I have a t849 tmobile galaxy tab.
Any ideas?
EDIT: I figured it out
OK so this may sound stupid but when I first flashed the recovery rom using the adb push method for the recovery image and tmobile_zImage I did not have a micro-sd card because the SGT-849 has 16GB of built in memory. I just tried it again but this time I popped in a microsd and used adb to push the recovery flash files, ran recovery, rebooted, ran ROM Manager and told it to boot into recovery and ClockWorkRecovery Mod worked
So if you havent used the method if implementing an ADB bridge to push the tmobile flash files you need to do that WITH a microSD apparently.
My boot screen changed from the boring Samsung Logo to a Galaxy Tab + Samsung Logo. Which boot logo do you have?

I dont have knowledge in adb because I'm never on a pc, but I ordered a 32gb sd card so i'll see what happens.

I have no computer right now and I've tried flashing recovery images through terminal emulator but with no success. I downloaded a HERCIMG.zip that contains clockworkmod 3.0.0.5 recovery but hboot won't read it? It keeps saying 'no image found HERCIMG.zip' when I'm in the hboot section of bootloader. Anybody know why its not finding the HERCIMG.zip file? I'm at my wits end and am about to shoot this phone. Please help if you know anything.

I had this issue when I was pushing hercimgs to the sd card through adb without deleting the old (invalid) one first. Try deleting the hercimg from the card, empty the trash and manually add it again, then reboot to hboot. Don't know if this will work for you, but it worked for me.

Do I need a computer? Cause I dont have access to one at the moment and I have to use a different Rom. This stock HTC one is driving me crazy!
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
so do you have a bootable recovery right now? how are you getting the hercimg on there if not?
No, my recovery is screwed so I can't boot into recovery. I've tried terminal method install of recovery but it doesn't seem to work.

Are you actually rooted? Have you tried installing ROM Manager from market and installing a recovery through that?
Yes, rooted with superuser and everything. ROM manager isn't seeming to flash the clockwork or RA recovery at all. Everytime I try to go into recovery mode, it sticks at the HTC screen.
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
a couple of times when I've used rom manager to flash recovery, I haven't been able to boot into it by any other means than by using the reboot recovery button in rom manager.

Yes. But I just thought of something, how do I get the flash commands on my phone? The stock HTC Rom doesn't have them so I could possibly flash via terminal if I can get the.flash commands

So I got the flash commands, but after what seems to be a successful recovery flash, it just hangs on the HTC white screen when I try to go into recovery

Did you open up the hercimg and make sure the recovery was in there??? Also did you check to make sure the zip was named correctly??? As in HERCIMG.ZIP and not zip.zip

Yep. Everything is named correctly. But now the main problem is; why is it seeming like a successful flash (via terminal and Rom manager) then not booting in to recovery?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Well don't I feel stupid. HERCIMG.ZIP not HERCIMG.zip. well it worked and I got the recovery working but its not letting me glasnost ANY other recovery than cwm 3 :/
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
I'm pretty sure the reason rom manager was failing is because you had an unsupported version 3.0.0.5. Try this: rename that image to version 2.5.0.1 or 2.5.0.7 (leave the rest of the image name the same) so rom manager agrees with it and then try to flash a different one. Also afaik if you have rom manager it doesn't want you to use TE either, so it may disallow flashing thru there. Yet another reason I dislike rom manager, you should just delete it If you can flash a recovery using a HERCIMG.zip (I assume this means you are s-off) it will take any recovery you give it, there are no safety checks or signature checks at all.
