Hi guys,
Got this problem: when I use wifi, the clock/weather widget can locate, and get the info about weather, but it can't display the city name. It just shows "Current location". This won't happen when I use the 3G connection.
When get into weather app on wifi, it will show a notification "unable to contact location service to update your current location". Also, this won't happen on 3G.
I cleared the data for the apps, like weather provider, etc, but it doesn't help.
I have the same issue & i'm still looking for a fix

I some how got it to work, go into Settings-Power-(uncheck) Fast Boot. Restart your device and on the top right you should get an icon. Click the icon and it will ask you to pick your time zone. Hope this works for you.

Whenever I go to google search, it tries to find my location and I see the GPS icon flashing.
I made sure to turn off Location settings in the browser (even toggled it).
...what gives?
if you go into settings, you can disable it
i recall i selected the option to NOT use GPS to get mylocation
and selected instead use phone network to determine my location
Hi folks. I picked up a new HTC One a couple days ago. Love it!!!
One issue I have, though, is an "authentication problem" message that I'm receiving.
It happens when I go into the Gallery (when it updates).
I get an error indicator in the top left, and I receive a message that says "Authentication problem" when I drag down from the top left.
When I tap on the error message, it shows a Facebook page with an error note. If I click "okay" I then go back to a main phone/desktop screen. But the error indicator in the top left remains.
If I instead back out of the Facebook error page, I have a notification window on my screen that reads, "Authorization problem - Please authorize HTC Sense to access your Facebook account. Once your HTC Sense is authorized, you can read and post updates in People, Gallery and Calendar."
I don't know what it's looking for me to authorize or do, or where to do it. And I can only get rid of the error note in the top left corner if I restart the phone.
I'm not sure if it's related to Blinkfeed or something else. With Blinkfeed, it's not my "home screen" and I moved that Blinkfeed screen all of the way to the side and have nothing checked, so the phone is not updating anything through there. I'm not sure if it's related to this error message problem I'm having.
Please help. Thank you.
Sounds like it's Facebook authentication that it's looking for. There should be a way to turn that off. At least I hope there is.. my phone won't be here until tomorrow, but I'll be damned if I want Facebook to do anything with it until I tell it to (which is no further than installing the app).

Yeah, I'm sure there's a way to turn off whatever is causing this to happen, but: 1) I don't know why it's happening; and 2) I can't find whatever I need to do in order to stop it.
Problem solved.
From what it seems, the One's Gallery was trying to interact with Facebook and couldn't. I went into Facebook from my desktop and turned on Applications (I had it off). That seems to have done the trick.

yes facebook is requesting AUTH for access to your photos. the gallery section now will pull photos from your facebook if you have it setup. BUT if you have 3rd party access turned off everytime gallery goes to pull when you start it, it will get rejected from the facebook website which is why you were getting the AUTH issue.

Anyone having issue with the S Voice not able to get data for weather? Every time I asked for the weather it gives me an error saying "weather need location, GPS, etc."
The weather up is working fine on the Gear though. I wonder if I need to install Accuweather (I think this is the provider for the Gear) on my phone.
Thanks in advance.
Mine works fine.

I had a similar problem. I don't use Samsung's weather widget on my N3 so set it to "never" update. When I did, my Gear stopped updating the weather also. I have weather set to update hourly now and that's when it updates on my Gear too.

That's weird, I don't have that option for weather. Just the clock....
And just to be clear, the weather app itself updates normally. It's when I "asked" S Voice for the weather that I'm getting the error.
Thank you.
So I have the note 5 for few months now and after all this time I haven't found a solution.
Basically I use the app called livescore and few other football/soccer apps that notify my when I select certain matches for goals to show up like notifications.
The settings in the app its self is fine, notifications are on, the settings in app manager are also fine.
I haven't found anywhere settings for notifications to show up or not when not on wifi. Do those settings exist? If they don't then what the problem might be?
Its really frustrating as the same thing doesn't happen with whatsapp which works fine with notifications over LTE/4G but when it comes to other apps it just wont work.
ALSO my samsung default email app wont show up new emails unless I am on wifi or unless while on LTE/4G I go inside the app and refresh it.

Hey,
This also randomly just happened to me. The way I fixed it is by going into settings --> Applications --> Application Manager --> MORE --> Reset App Preferences. Notifications all came in after i did that and haven't had a problem since. Let me know if it works!
I've noticed that at least two apps will mysteriously stop working in the background, causing problems:
First, most important, I use my Google Voice number, not my SIM number, so I need Google Voice to be running so that it intercepts my calls and uses the right phone number to make calls. If I open Google Voice, it will work for a few hours, maybe a day, and then GV stops working and calls start going out through my SIM number.
The other app that exhibits this behavior is Garmin Connect -- my watch gives me notifications, but then, for no reason, it will stop working. Opening Garmin Connect solves the problem.
I have ensured all permissions are set as liberally as possible, even the "allow autostart" option. Not sure what else to do. Any ideas would be great. I did not have this problem with my Mi 8.
Thanks!
I think I had a similar problem with the Runtastic app that I use for running: After around one minute of screen off time it would stop getting GPS data.
I fixed it by adding it to the list of apps that is allowed to run in the background. You can find this setting in the power and battery settings ("Akku & Leistung" in German).
I think you are talking about the Battery Saver > Choose apps ("Saving power in the background") list. In that list, you can set background settings for each app. I had both of these apps already set to the most liberal setting, "No restrictions (Battery saver doesn't restrict app's activity)". I changed them both to the second setting, "Battery saver (recommended)", which seems to be an automated, smart method the phone uses.
I also decided to try turning off the Use Adaptive Battery setting ("Limit battery for apps that you don't use often"). Maybe this is the culprit.
Any luck there yet? My vivo active hr does not even show live notifications....
