Hello guys,
I have little trouble here, I own Incredible S with andorid 2.3.5 and HTC sense 3.0
and I was going to root it but befor rooting I needed to S-off and managed to do so.
Problem is that I failed, i tryed almost everthing, including revolutionary which I liked most but it doesn't work because of unsupported bhoot version.
supported versions are 1.09 and 1.13 But I have 2.00.0001 so it doesn't work..
I'm almost noob in android but want to have phone rooted so please give me some advice..
What is the easiest way to S off or to downgrade hboot to 1.13 or 1.09 (I don't even know if it's possible..)?
Thank you very much,
Nick.

If you want true S-Off then this is your only solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373697
If you just want root and don't care about acknowledging to HTC that you are doing so, then check out the unlock procedure at HTCDEV.com. Note you will have to give HTC info about your phone that potentially void a warranty claim.
Well, main reason of rooting is to install georgian fonts.
As far as i know there is no way to install fonts on unrooted phone soo will that method help me to use fonts after rooting?

If after you unlock the bootloader, you would then be able to flash a custom recovery and this would allow you to flash the latest versio of SU-3.0.xxx.zip which would root your phone and allow you to install fonts.
thanks mate, is there any noob friendly guide to install SU ?

Is it possible that you have a file named PG32IMG.zip on your SD card? That's what it sounds like is happening. Delete this file and then start the process again.
I know there are stickies but I am still unsure of where to start.
My phone is stock ICS + Sense 3.6
I want to root it so I can install root only apps. Further down the road I want to install CM9 or another rom.
I rooted my Desire with unrewoked last year, which was really easy, but for the Incredible I can't figure out where to start.
I am not sure if the stickies apply to ICS as well?
Help please

You are in uncharted waters my friend. ICS/Sense 3.6 introduced a new HBOOT 2.02.0002. Your only hope is that the Downgrade script that uses 'tacoroot' exploit stills works. Here is the link if you want to give it a shot and then report back on your success or failure.

The way I rooted mine was firstly unlock the bootloader via HTCdev, then flashed 4ext recovery via fastboot. I was then able to flash Superuser via recovery and finally installed Busybox from the market

Thanks for this post. I forgot that this was an option because so many people dismiss this option because they don't want HTC knowing that they unlocked their phone.

i think u need to first soff ur phone!!for that u need to downgrade ur hboot to 1.13.0000 or 1.09.0000!! apparently the tool tpbklake is sugesting can downgrade ur hboot(i havent tested it) then u need to soff via revolutionary!! its all easy once u downgrade ur hboot version!!
i really hope u can at least give it a look at guides made by our fellow forumers and ask questions accordingly when u got stuck on certain steps or something. tpbklake provides useful link there, why dun y have a look first.
im not a pro, but i think most important of all u need to know what rooting is all about, if u want to go along the easy way, then just unlock ur device through htcdev, flash custom recovery, and flash a pre-rooted rom available (most of them are pre-rooted).

That's not the file he linked. That is my downgrade script which will not work on your hboot version unless your phone is rooted.
Your also describing a stock recovery, you need a custom recovery to flash the superuser file that naathaanb96 linked. Copy his file to your sdcard.
link to custom recovery http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-vivo.img flash this using
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-vivo.img
reboot into bootloader
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
and select recovery from the bootloader menu. When the recovery loads select install zip from sdcard and choose the superuser zip file you copied earlier and confirm. When that completes, reboot and you're rooted.
I followed your instructions, and still not rooted.. I noticed after the installation of the superuser package that the version is 3.0.7 for android 2.0 - 3.2. but i have ICS version 4.0.4

Where did you get 3.0.7? Not from this thread, right? Because you were linked to 3.1.3, here's the link again, just to refresh your memory:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1195049&d=1342168095
FYI 3.0.7 is actually compatible with ICS if you download and install the correct package.

clarified on following
My Device is running on HTC 4.0.4 ICS with HBOOT 2.02.002 -- it can be unlocked only from HTCDev.com
1. Before ICS update, All Bootloader are unlocked other than HTCDev.com. What are the disadvantage on unlocking from HTCDev.com
2. I have installed the HTC Sync which is came along with my mobile. I Came to know, i need to uninstall HTC Sync keeping the Drivers.
Can i use the HTCSync Drivers instead from this link?
Install HTCDriver3.0.0.007
Download
http://db.tt/9S4iEsg3
3. I am currently having problem with installing any application (.apk) from File Manager. The install button is disabled But when i cleared the media storage, i can install from file manager. But its temporary fix. But I CAN install only from Market.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1643065.html
This make me much worried,
During rooting process, i need to install various files (Say, superuser.apk), will this problem in my mobile cause the rooting process to fail?
OR Installing from ADB is different so that i can install and rooting wont be interrupted.
Please help me.. I am worried about point 3, mentioned above.

As you already installed htcsync you wont need to install other USB drivers as the htcsync drivers will remain even if you uninstall it. In fact, you don't actually have to uninstall it, you can just exit the program from your taskbar. I mentioned it in the tutorial only as a precaution, anything trying to interface with the handset could interfere with adb daemon operation.
You don't need to use tpbklakes guide anymore as I have integrated that process into the script.
If you need help with the s-off process, the best place to post is in the scripts thread, I'll be able to respond much faster.
Be aware that s-off is not root, it is setting the security flag to off which enables access to all partitions, you will have to flash superuser or a custom Rom to get root access.
If you cannot install APK's from file manager, it might mean that you have not checked ALLOW NON MARKET APPS in your settings. I think it's in your development menu.

Hey guys, I've recently received my HTC international. It came with 4.2 but I updated it to 4.3. I've unlocked the bootloader and do have TWRP as recovery. Now I'm trying to root my phone and also s-ff but I run into a problem because my hboot is version 1.55.
I've tried various of different methods to root my One, they all complete successfully, get a shortcut for supersu still not rooted.
Can anyone help rooting One with hboot 1.55?
You only have to flash this...
Just tried. I am getting the same message I did before in SuperSU... "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!! If you just upgraded to Android 4.3, you need to manually re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device."
Just to clarify, this device was not rooted before 4.3. It's a new device. I took it out the box, plugged it into my pc, UPDATED to 4.3 (which updated hboot to 1.55) and then I started looking for ways to root. Unlocking the bootloader worked perfectly but cannot root :/

Yes. I am running the official 4.3 update. Maybe I should have mentioned this before, my aim is to get the Google Play edition, 4.4 on this device. As far as I know, I need to be rooted, s-ff for this.
Ain't there another way of doing this? Eg, flashing Android Revolution 40.0? what would happen if I tried flashing this on non rooted device? is there a way it would root the device?
I was able to root my device using openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-m7 as recovery. SuperSU 1.80

Install Android Revolution HD 31.6 then use rumrunner to s-off. That's what worked for me.
Hello everyone, I've read over many post on rooting this phone, did research online and even watched youtube videos, for some reason its just not working for me. I have unlocked my bootloader, with my unlock code.bin, I've installed TWRP version 2.6.3.0 because the 2.5 version doesn't work with touch for some reason. I then went into recovery mode and hit install and hit SuperSu-v1.25.zip and it says successful. I do notice it says "Updating partition details" . . . then followed by "E:Unable to mount '/cache". I hit reboot system, use the root checker app, and it says sorry phone is not rooted. I click on supersu in apps icon and get message saying "There is no SU binary Installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a pronlem!" I hit ok and the app exits. What did I do wrong? Any help would be appreciated
Try updating your recovery to 2.7.1.1 (via the same method you installed 2.6.3.0) and try using the most up to date su.zip. do a Google search and you should find it in the first couple of links.

Thanks for the reply! I found an update to supersu and installed that zip with same version.recovery. I updated prior to posting to their 2.8 version but something made my phone stay stuck at the HTC brilliant spreen so had to use a recovery and reinstall this older version. Well in any case phone is rooted, now to find threads of getting s off on 4.3 android
Gaining s-off is dependent on the hboot version not the android version. Reboot to your hboot and you'll find your hboot version. Hboots 1.56 and 1.57 are very troublesome to s-off manually, but the sunshine s-off method makes light work of it (it will cost $25 though).
