[Q] THD game vs Non THD game

I have been trying to play Princess Punt THD version for O2X and it didnt run as smoothly as the normal one. Just a question in my mind, THD version, isn't it optimize for Tegra 2 Phone?

Well that one will be more detailed and using more resources so the strain will be heavyier on the phone than using the normal one made for most phones.
Iv played the optimized version anyway and experienced no problems other than its a crap game, maybe its your rom or you havnt cleared enough memory before launching the game what ever the case it works fine.... its you.

Are you using stock rom? It may cause by ran is low. Try to kill task b4 enter the game.

Usually most THD games have more detailed textures, but it doesn't necessarily mean they give more strain for the CPU. For the most part all THD games I've played run as smooth as their non THD counterpart.

Btw I have no problem running Princess Punt THD.

Hahaha, i am on "temasek's KANG build P204-69", so i guess i shall stick to the non- THD version.

just tried THD version on ICS 4.0.3 Kang3 runs without a glitch!

Yes it does the textures are larger so take longer to call into memory but it's made with the tegra 2 in mind so should be fine.
Tegra enhanced games are made to make use of the spare processing power and gpu memory that is left over so ofc the CPU is now under heavier load that's the bloody idea of these enhanced games to make use of the extra power if only you realised how stupid what you said just sounded.....

No, its really bad...
I cant play any FPS or shadowgun (or play like a cripple, stand and shoot) like this.

hi have you changed your ro.product and model? try entering google nexus S if you've already tried , download the full cracked version of rio, to increase performance use ram manager select profile hard gaming

Our device supports Dual touch.. And it works fine for me even for heavy games..
For not suported issue change build.prop to HTC, Desire HD..
All games written on first thread are working with multi touch..

Gangstar Rio Working fine on my CSL 2.3.4 stock rom very smooth and no lags with full 2gb sd data.

Hi,
So i was thinking about buys a optimus 4x to replace my old android but i would like to know if u guys would recommend this phone for gaming, i want to plug it on an tv via hdmi and use my ps3 controller to play on it when im travelling.
Know that u guys know the purpose of the phone would u recommend it to me ? Or should i look for another one ?

Game play is pretty smooth for me. But i find battery drains very fast when playing hd games.
Just ordered 1 mhl hdmi cable once i get then i can check and confirm its performance on my 50inch lg tv with my ps3 controller.
Cable is already shipped i should get it by tomorrow.

gaming is quite smooth but not very good. Even few good games are not officially supported, though runs good if you get from an warez site.If you want gameing, go for nexus 4 or optimus g or htc one x+. Good luck.

There is always support issue between known brands like there are many games supports only tegra devices..also for many games (check TegraZone app from playstore) it supports more detailed gaming graphics like Dead Trigger just google and you might get to see..what i am tryimg to say else let me know i'l share youtube link with you

I´ve searched some videos on youtube and I saw that is nfs mw and gta vice city have some lag during tha play and that worries me a bit because this is the type of games i would play a lot

If you want to play the games you should buy galaxy s3. 4x is a good phone but games on this phone are lagging. Or my phone is not original 4x xD.

Hmm...i was playing Shadow Gun DeadZone multiplayer game at high detail display without any lag.
But i assume some device might be lagging a bit.
For you i`ll try nfs mw tomorrow n let you know how it performs.

For example NFS MW, GTA VC, Beach Buggy Blitz, Zombie Driver THD.

Well-- i think ppl have diffrent thoughts about the gaming Some have lagg and some don't.
The games I play is: GTA:VC, Dead Trigger,Subway Surfers,Temple Run, Zombieville and Sword & Sworcery.
- Dead Trigger: The game is playable.. but it does have some fps drops and lagg.
- GTA:VC 1.0.2: This game is allmost not playable, it does have fps drops,some sound laggs and lagg spikes
- Subway Surfers: The game is playable, but has some lagg.
- Temple Run: This game runs fine
- Sword & Sworcery: No problems here, but then again.. not a demanding game
- Zombieville: No problems here, but then again.. not a demanding game
My phone is stock and not rooted. I tried to root and OC.. but to be honest, it didn't feel like it was doing any good.
My friends HTC One X runs these games with no fps drops or lagg, but his phone has JellyBean (android 4.1).
While this phone has Ice Cream Sandwich (android 4.0).. And there is roumers about a JellyBean update in Q1 2013 (or january).
This might fix these issues

I can see laggs in that video, you can play the game.. But the experience isn't that great. Atleast for me that is

how long did u play the game? Like in sessions ?

I would say near on useless for gaming, even hill climb racer is laggy,

i dont see much difffence from that htc one x video, to my video. it runs a little smoothier may be, but VC is completely playable on my 4X, almost lag free... i playd with maxed out option but resolution on 86% as far as i remeber. i play like 30 minutes ou maybe more with always the same result. The only bad thing is the heat....

Try to put it on max.. Im only playing on 100%-100%-max.. if you put the resolution any lower it looks alittle washed out
30mins isn't that much, try to be on a visit to someone old or someone in your family.. it will suddently be 1-2hours.. And in this time.. believe me.. sound spikes and laggs occour more than it should and yeh.. the heat is alittle unpleasent.
Anyway.. I did say this.. : for some it laggs and for some it dosn't.. it seems like it has some varity..

I tried nfs mw..it run too smooth..but i still havenot tried multiplayer mode will update on tat later. I dont have gta vc i`ll see if i buy 1 i`ll update(its expensive game)

You are the first person who is claiming NFS MW to be smooth:/ You can even see it in that LG optimus 4X HD gaming video.. that it's not smooth! thats for sure
Battery: Normal use.. phones, messaging, some web browsing here and there, music here and there, standby and some wifi.. I can easily have my phone on for 2days
Battery while gaming: It depends rly.. Sometimes it 's 3-4hours but sometimes its like 4-6hours.. rly depends on how demanding the game is.. if you have data/wifi on etc

Yes every game runs smooth. Dead Trigger contract Killer zombie 2 gta 3 modern combat 3 and 4 need fir speed most wanted all run without issue and many more. I set my 4x to 1500 MHz on performance with lowest to 1500 MHz as well with setcpu and i have no issue to play any game I want. And the only time I had lag was when listening to music it jumped like crazy and stuttered but ever since setcpu is installed set to lowest to 100mhz I have no more stutter when listen to music.

In my case without underclocking my cpu nfs mw work smoothly..
Howevr battery worries me so i`l try underclocking my cpu n then i`ll check battery perforfance.

Well battery is pretty normal when gaming that it will drop pretty quick. Otherwise I have no issues. Last 16 17 hours on heavy use as long as I don't use cellar data. Wifi seems fine but cellar data is a freaking battery killer.

Gaming problems, lag, low fps v20A

Hello,
I've just got a LG 4X so I'm new on this forum, but it's not my first day on XDA I had an Xperia S before which has worse performance without a doubt.
After I got the phone I jumped straight to gaming and experienced something not so pleasant... GTA Vice City 1.03 is unplayable, it runs like 10 to 20 fps with jumps to 60, then it lags again, after that I downloaded Real Racing 3 from market, it runs 5 fps at most... I can't play using OpenGL with FPSE ( neither could I with SXS but it had better fps) . Dead Trigger works as it should, but it lags too...
I have rooted v20A, switching governor to performance didn't help at all.
Is everything ok with my phone ? I haven't tried gaming on ICS since I flashed v20A as soon as I got the phone.
Damn, I wanna play this GTA sooo much and I can't, even after reducing all the settings.

PS: Sorry for my english, it's not my native language.

It's the same thing with me. A cell phone done for gaming is not good for games at all. This is a big problem with this phone. If I had known this, I wouldn't have buy this phone. Other phones not done for gaming have a better performance. I'm experiencing lag sometimes even with temple run.

My setup is v10d with gamebooster, hard gaming and ram tweaks enabled, most games run well with this setup. Only one I had trouble with is spiderman 1.1.7 so i downgraded to 1.1.4 and now it only stutters occasionally. The problem is the v10h firmware, the heat protection is.too aggressive and kills gaming performance

Damn again, your Vice City runs buttery smooth compared to mine I have very often and major frame drops and stuttering Real racing is 5 fps, I'm trying to lower the graphics settings, will report afterwards. I'm thinking beta of IB has ome bad 3d drivers or something, I'm hoping for custom roms with unlocked bl

The topic of the comments in your video are the same thing as here: LAG.
It's a tegra 3 mobile, it shuldn't lag.

Gta 3 is smooth on default graphics, i'm on 10d though, seriously v10d is a must for people wanting gaming on this phone

Not for me! GTA3, Asphalt, NFS ... they are all unplayable with V10A,B,C,D,E ... Whatever ... GTA3 have really big slowdowns on my o4x, even with v20a. Especially Tegra 3 games lag a lot :/ don't know why ...
on my nexus 7 the games have no lag problems or poor framerate.
i flashed 10 times, i reseted my o4x a couple of times but nothing helps. nearly every game lag like hell.
(sorry for my english) ^^

I also use gamebooster but its only really needed on nova 3 in my case. 20a is worse than 10d. Asphalt had a recent update that fixed lag, so did mc4. Only lags I have is slight stutters in spiderman v1.1.4, NFS (only at race start) and nova 3 on first 2 levels. I have A LOT of games too, they ran crappy on euro10h, a bit better on 20a but euro10d is the best

If i'm honest, LG Are terrible at making their own firmwares for more than capable phones.
As well as the Optimus 4X, i own the 2X. (Which is also laggy on the original firmware)
The 2X, has a huge community with hundreds of custom roms. On these custom roms, the Optimus 2X runs flawlessly. Once we have an unlocked boot loader for our 4X and a bigger custom rom community, i am more than confident to say that the 4X will run incredibly well too!
The 4X has huge potential! just not with LG's builds of android!
We just need to wait! :good:

If GTA and asphault are unplayable for you, than you have a faulty device and you should change it (if you can). I have no problemson w/ those game, only MW, that lags.

same here, every game plays fine except NFS MW laggs ocassionaly

Real racing 3 lags a lot. The same thing with NFS... GTA 3 doesn't run smoothly.

If you mean cool looks ok.
But if you mean temperature cool there are two explanation:
1. You are not relevant as temperature meter, some kind of anomaly.
2.You played in North Pole with heavy coolers surrounding you.
No offence but heavy games heats all mobiles ALL...

This game compared with others games,the phone no is a toaster, and have good graphics.
I no have a .apk, to measure the % capacity of the cores.

"Thomas Was Alone" was on sale not that long ago. Great game, and runs very well on the Moto X Play.

I prefer playing games on my gaming PC but sometimes for the sake of passing time I play Asphalt 8 & subway surfer on my moto x play ?

I play NFS Most Wanted and Asphalt 8 and NFS No Limit...though the most faboulous game is Most wanted ....may be the best in racing gmes in andriod

haha never tried on my phone..will try it out..did you try any other games like i play on my mobile...try leo's fortune a good gameplay and graphics..!!

haha if u have gaming pc then its awesome..still when you are out with friends..do a show off by playing hardcore games...!!
I will prefer to try out Injustice: god among us and wwe immortals...!! super action game..and wwe immortals lol if you try just look at the characters

hmm lol to be honest..never heard of final fantasy record keeper...i think world ends with you..i have heard about it..
I'll suggest to try world of goo..!! another classy game..!!

Haven't played many games on this other than Real Racing 3 (which is quite an intensive game but the MXP handles it smoothly) and NFS Most Wanted. Pretty happy with the performance so far.

Hmm..its good..but i dnt know why i dnt like to play most wanted on phone[emoji14]

@anks095 Does NFS No Limits work on your phone properly? Cause i think it had issues with 6.0 and also it never worked on my phone.

For me I like RPG games, good story, like Kemco company games, if speak of graphic I'd say N.O.V.A 3, asphalt 8, Final Fantasy 9, Unkilled and A LOT of PSP games run via PPSSPP.

Anyone tried ''Fast like a fox'' ? nice game. found it yesterday, couldn't stop playing.

no..it does not give me any problem ,,,,though it needs net connection for some minutes in the strting as it gets connected to server to sync up.Without internet connection You cant play the game . For NFS MW you need net also but only to check for update which basically nothing.

I do have net connection. I am mostly on good wifi connection. But still it didnt work. Then too i will try once more today maybe they might have updated.

where did u download the games for ppsspp? i tried but did not find a proper source..also what games can be played smoothly on mxp using that?

try aa and aa2 lol simple yet difficult to play and quite interesting and you can keep on playing for hours and wont get bored..
