When my screen slide up its scratching away the black/silver finish next to the left side of the keyboard. Anyone else having this problem? I also called verizon and i will be receiving a new one.

Never really noticed until I read this but mine is actually doing it just a little on both sides of the keyboard. They are sending you a new one just cause it is doing that?
Called and verizon had no problem sending me a new one

Yeah if its a new phone, they usually have no problem exchanging it out and making you happy.... they don't want a refund

ah, there is definitely a wear problem there. looks like the sliding mecahnism is scratching the paint. that's too bad, i really like this phone. my guess is a replacement will do the same thing. maybe some protective tape around the bezel will fix the issue.
I have had mine for a little over a week, use the keyboard for everything and dont have this issue.
I can see a spot where the screen slides its a little darker than the rest but does not seem to be removing the paint or anything like that.

i ran my fingernail over the area and it's definitely scratched. the question is the durability of the paint. i've only had my phone since Friday evening of last week and i'm already noticign the wear.
I haven't had any scratching when I slide it up

wow! mine is definitely not that bad. yet.
I'm using the snap on case for the holster, and I know when I slide it out, I can feel some dragging.
With it off though, smooth as silk.
I never put a case on my phone. Why take away the beauty of it. I have insurance and warranty if something goes wrong or breaks.

Yeah I'm having the same issue. I've had it for about a month now, and a while ago I would hear a scraping when the phone opens. I noticed there are two clips underneath the screen that probably help the phone STAY closed/open. This is where the scraping is for me. Mine is pretty bad at this point, now have silver lines about half a cm thick on the back of my screen. Pretty sad. I know the OG Droid had this issue after alot of wear and time, but this is early. :'(
Do you carry the phone in your back pocket? looks like compression scratches.
No. Only had that current phone for two days before i noticed it.

I myself just picked it up from eBay in black. I did some test to see durable it is and it is a pretty damn good case. The case took a fall from ten feet and still kept my phone intact so I'm gunna have to give it props.

You sir...are daring (assuming the ten foot drop was one if your tests and nit an accident)

Haha it was a test. I have a backup phone (captivate, yuck I know) but I was just testing how durable the case was. Whipped it at the ground a couple times and have to say that this case, as bulky as it is, is definitely worth the money

I am sick of my otterbox commuter. It's done a great job protecting the phone but it's ugly and the front portion sticks out to far and is too close the screen causing difficulty hitting keys on my keyboard holding it in portrait. This case comes in colors so it could definitely looks more stylish. Is it easier to access the whole touch screen?
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2
You actually don't feel like the case is covering anything in the front. Atleast that's what I feel lol. It takes up such a small amount of room you probably won't notice it too much. Deff recommend the case!
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda app-developers app
I actually did try this case out, along with an Incipio case, otterbox defender, and another which name escapes me atm, but I felt this one was too bulky for my pocket and the rubber was very sticky attracting lots of fibers and lint. I went with the Incipio silicrylic case and I think I'm better off now than with the otterbox.

I ordered my nexus on Friday of last week and it did not ship until late Monday and ups delivered it yesterday(early, thanks to them). When unboxing it, I noticed they there were clearly 2 pieces of tape on each side as if it had been opened and resealed. My nexus has no problems whatsoever (except for the flickering, which is minimal and from previous devices should be fixable with software). I actually see no reason for this to have been returned and think that perhaps Google is opening the devices to verify good ones before they send them out. Anyone else received recent devices with two pieces of tape?

Do you mean the black seal tapes on the black box containing your nexus and was your nexus wrapped in a clear plastic wrapper?

Use the search feature, this has been covered in the last few days. The tape intact/cut seems random. -Ara

I read that you can order your Nexus with your credentials already saved, like the kindles. Is this your case?

There were several owners that reported the double tape phenomenon. These owners were not luck as you though and reported one or more of the common issues.

I notice my screen flickers on white screens while at low brightness sometimes... is this normal, I saw you mentioned it.

Ah I've reread your op and I understand that the seal was broken or tampered and was hidden by putting another tape over it
Had a quick look at my box and didn't find double tape. Maybe someone did a check test during the last production line or had to reopen it to put the right adaptor or other stuff in?

As another (potentially redundant) data point, mine had one piece of tape on each side, and I only had to enter my password as well. If people are getting boxes with two pieces of tape on each side and one has been slit, then perhaps there's something there.
Or not. Who the hell knows anymore.
Mine was in the nexus sleeve, slid out and a plain black box with 2 black tapes- tough to cut.
My question is why would you give out your credential info online so someone can preprogram it in???
It makes it easier to setup and btw, the pre-loading a google account doesn't open the box (they don't have your password), they link it to the device's serial number and when it boots up, it automatically loads your data after you input your password. Or so said the others in the last thread for this issue. -Ara

I've had the ONE about a week and I've been babying it until my case arrives this coming week. Well I noticed today there are surface scratches on the screen already. I thought the gorilla glass would be better but damn these scratches are annoying me... Lol my ocd I guess. Any way to get rid of them or do I have to live with them forever. Thanks
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
You can't get rid of them but if you put a screen protector on it will hide them.
I've heard if you always clean your screen your more likely to get scrathes! Having a oily screen helps fight scratches by creating lubrication when your fingers are swiping etc.

Yuck. I like my screens naked!

I cleaned it once with a cloth to clean glasses. But other than that it's just been regular use. Well as long as I try to forget and not pay attention hopefully it won't bother me. Thank ya for the replies.

I have to disagree with you.
I took mine in the shower and while the screen worked it was hard for me to do anything because the water was hitting the screen and I guess the screen figured it was a finger. I couldn't do anything

Very true. I remember how it basically became a standard in Japan at least 5 years ago. Glad to see the US market manufacturers beginning to show some care for longevity rather than building phones that last exactly two years

Mine gets a daily washing and I also take it in the shower to listen to tunes.
I do notice if the water hits the speaker at the right angle then well,, it sounds like crap for a few hours until it dries out.
Yes the screen does go wacky but that could also be having the extra sensitivity turned on?
Probably already posted but here is my daily wash the S5..
