1) I'm tired of all these application killers that don't really kill the running apps. Is there any application killer that kills them for good, like FORCE STOPPING them? I've tried netQin and advanced tast killer, but neither do a great job (app suchs as google maps continue to reappear unless I force stop them manually)
2) I'm currently running Darky's ROM 10.2 RE, but I don't like the new market app - it's ugly and laggy. Can someone give me the GingerBread Stock Market app, please?

I been using Advanced Task Manager 4.1 before I updated to froyo and it killed all my unwanted apps very well. All the roms I tryed on 2.2 do this: they leave the apps connected to the internet open. It just wastes my battery. I tryed a bunch of other task killers and none of them work, the apps still stay open. I need to kill the apps untill the next time I open them. Anyone know a way to do that on 2.2 or what my prolem is?
Might want to state what your problem is or ask a question
I edited my post, any way you or someone else can help

For one thing you might want to download DroidWall and disable internet access to all unwanted apps. It is like Firewall for your android.
Also try Taskiller. I m using it and it kills apps and never let them start until screen turns on again.

See thats the thing, I want them to be off untill I turn them on myself. I think I'll re-download DroidWall (I have known about it) and all task killers do the same thing I guess, which is kill the apps untill the next time you turn on your screen =/
Could you give us an example of these apps that are "staying connected" and some indication of what you're testing to know that they are staying connected?
Apps like: Bloo (Facebook), Hi IM, Android Market, Weather Bug, & others that dont use internet like Astrid Tasks, Startup Cleaner Pro, Titanium Backup, TeslaLED & toggle apps.
I just want them closed when I kill them. Right now I have a shortcut to managing apps so I click on the running tab and manually force close them but thats a pain.
INDICATION: killing weather bug and the notification with the temperature stays.
After killing the apps I have listed they pop up again in the task manager 30 seconds later.
I understand android has its own way to manage apps. If they aren't being used, android will automatically close them.
Sometimes, though, android (at least mine) is stupid. For example, if I don't have the music app open, it will close and stop playing.
I'd like to explicitly force apps like IM apps or google voice or my music app to never close. Is there a way to do this?

nice question...
I don't mean to spam, but I will bump this until someone answers, 'cuz I've got the same question.
Well you have to increase the priority of the apps you don't want to close. An easy way to that is by using the "Auto Memory Manager" application.
I've used EX launcher once and it has that feature of locking the apps you want in memory and the task manager will not be able to close them most of the time.
renice pidof $process_name
try using the auto memory manager app in the market
quite important question indeed.
i managed to get lower OOM associated to particular applications, such as GO SMS and ADW launcher, which are 2 fundamental apps for me.
fortunatelly i did not have any problems with music player and training session recording apps. using Laszlos' ROM, ADW lancher and GO SMS had a great combination of quite stable system.
so i guess you have to find the best components
to tell the thruth i do hate application handling of android
I'm running CM7 and I'm happy with how it performs compared to stock rom. I see improvement in battery and memory usage. So that's good.
However, some apps like facebook, maps, tango etc still appear to become active in the background.
Is there an application which will easily let me manage rights for every app I have on the device? I dont want to freeze them, just change their permissions so they never do anything unless I intentionally start an app.
When I was on stock ROM i tried an app killer with auto kill. So i'd kill apps that were displayed. Check back a few minutes later and everything was back running again..
So to sum up..a good app manager that works nicely with CM7?
Edit: i found something called privacy blocker but I think that wont let me prevent apps from running by themselves....
Edit-2: Nevermind, its not going to work I think...reading this made me realise that some apps me be terminated at start-up, but preventing from booting at a later point is near impossible. Too bad. http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=14889
Just ignore them, Android knows how to manage it's RAM effectively.
If you won´t use some apps, use TitaniumBackup (from Market) and freeze apps you are never using.
Hey Folks,
Just wanted to hear some opinions on whether having a task manger is worth it. I've heard from both sides of the camp, stating newer versions of android can handle the load fine, and that more and more apps are running unnecessary background services.
I just did a clean wipe and reload of CM7 and I'm wondering whether I want my advanced task manager anymore.
Thoughts?
For me, I prefer no task killer. If I must close apps I go into running services and stop them that way. Usually they stop without me doing that.
I don't use one, not needed.
i never ever felt the need of having a task killer on my Inc S
the apps close by themselves when not in use.
v6 supercharger
just use v6 supercharger it is better than all the taskillers you may find.
I don't use one. I'm running CM7 and as Saenzscene said, I stop programs in the running services menu. However I never really had the need to do it as RAM was never a problem.
But I have noticed while running certain programs that if you press the "home" button, the program may keep running in the background afterwards. Whereas if you press the "back" button it will close the program's running service. Can anyone confirm this?
Never had the need for a TaskManager with CM7 or ARHD.

if you're using a task manager or task killer since froyo, urdoinitwrong
I'm using advanced task killer simply to kill anything that may not be shut down even tho I mean to.
As someone said above, it's possible that some alps stay open and keep your phone awake. I have a large ignore list which I use to ensure nothing important gets closed down, only the rogue apps, now my phone never stays awake when it shouldn't.

Yes, some apps like to run as a service process if you quit the app. FriendCaster is one example. I think they do this to handle sync process in the background.
I don't need anyone!
My choice is no task manager, android is good.
I have a few apps running in the background all the time. Facebook and blood and glory mainly. Is there a way to delete them for good? On Facebook I set it that no notifications and never refresh, and its still using up 12mb. Same with blood and glory. Any way to kill them for good? Is there an app maybe? Thanks.
Well, mainly in android apps have 4 components.
Two of those are Activities and Services.
The activities have UI, you can activate and use it. The services doesn't have UI since they are hidden. You can't Activate them manually and their purpse is to open the app fast. Deleting the app is the best way you can use a task manager to close them.
Advanced Task Killer, for example, has the ability to set timer for RAM clearing, you can set it to whenever you lock your screen.
if i helped you, hit the thanks button
Another way for ram.
I think of the amount of memory (ram) have effected to play game or run any application smoothly.
So If you use kernel Semaphore 2.7.4(GB) or 1.2.0 (ICS) there are choices for big memory to run application smoothly.
I want to kill an app like Facebook, and then I don't want it to run in the background after I close the app. When I kill the process , after aboit 10 seconds it goes on again!
Anyone!?
Anyone 2x?
use advanced task manager.or delete the facebook app and install fbm.it does not run in the background
I've found an useful article about Task killer apps:

Autostarts
There is an app on android market called Autostarts, it's an amazing app i've used it for over a year now and never had any problems. what it does it stops apps like facebook from starting up automaticly and keeps the app fully closed until you choose to launch it. Same goes for any other app which you choose to disable from auto-starting by itself. This is why Autostarts is so much better than say a normal task killer because apps closed by task killers restart themselves a few minutes later so your just running round in circles trying to keep the app closed probably eating up more battery trying to close it every 5 minutes than if you just left the app alone, where as with autostarts you dissable the app once then thats it it wont start until you tell it to, perfect!
Autostart sounds quite good
I'd also recommend using titanium backup to freeze the app, unfreeze when you want it and then freeze when you dont.
Autostart probably sounds like the easier option, no need to keep freezing and unfreezing, but knowing about titanium backup and freezing apps doesn't hurt
