My phone is rooted running rooted stock rooted Mr2
I install mobile iron and it works for a day then stops syncing and I get an email from it that my phone is rooted and that is against company policy. I call to get it reset and the next day the same thing. Anyone know a workaround? I don't know what mobile iron is looking at to telll it is roooted.

i'd hate to be one the tough asses you see on here but, how about not rooting your company phone?
Not rooting a company phone, it is my phone but i connect to my work with it for emails, contacts, etc... but to take your method of thinking... Perhaps we should'nt root our phones at all since verizon does not approve of it....

I don't think he is saying that we shouldn't root our phones because companies disapprove. I think he is saying, don't root your phone if you want that particular app to work without issue....
I'm curious to know how the app checks whether the device is rooted. I see similar behavior with the new Android Market on my rooted Nook Color; Movies just don't show up, but I don't get a SuperUser request, or anything indicating the app is checking for the ability to gain root.

Are you sure its rooted? Rooted? Rooted?
I bet that the app can scan the installed apps and check for SU. I would check the permissions of the app and see if there is anything odd. If your running CM7 i thought a little while back they introduced the ability to block permissions for apps. Might start there.

all you xoom wifi owners check your market there should be videos app waiting for you in updates.
i see it but shouldnt we have a section in the market to rent movies now? i dont see the market update yet
yeah nothing in market yet but you can see movies you rented in the app and the shop goes to online im sure they will reroute it soon.
Its not just wifi Xooms i have a Vzw 3G Xoom and i got the update a little bit ago.
I see it but it does not install for me on us wifi stock 3.1 with unlocked bootloader.
yup, can't install on mine
please post videos apk
Can someone please post the apk so us rooted users can try it out and get a look at it etc..
The!
I have 3.1 stock will not install but just started showing device is compatible

This has been said before, but just as a reminder. You won't be able to install it if your bootloader is unlocked. You have to be completely stock and locked.
Just because we are told it won't work doesn't mean we can't get it to work.
Anyone have the apk yet?

I never said that somebody wont be able to make it work. Just that you won't be able to install it from the market. And as far as making it work, one would need to remove the checks that it does for modified devices.
I've had this on my wifi xoom ever since using BRD's method to update to 3.1. Is this update a true update? How do I get rid of the update notice?
Finally!!!!!!!
after 190909090 attempts!!! started to download and its working!!
Probably was something wrong with the google server not allowing to download.
try it again. everyone should be good to go.

Not entirely true it can be installed if your rooted, however you will not be able to watch rented videos.
My rooted wifi got the update via market today and installed without any issue.
I finally got it to install by first opening up the gallery and then going back to the market and clicking on update. I am rooted and running Tiamat Kernel.
Still no go for me either. For those of you that got the update today did your market change as well?
Anybody mind posting the movies apk?

So anyone know how to get around Verizon's root check. I get the following message when trying to watch stuff we've bought using their media manager app.

Usually you rename the superuser.apk file to something else, like superuser.bk, but this also disables superuser. It would be something you switch every time you want to use the app, then switch back when you're done. Not sure if this works for that Verizon app, but it's how people have gotten around root checks before.

It's certainly one solution, but most Superuser apps have a temporary unroot feature that will take care of this for you, which can be a lot safer than monkeying around with your APKs if you don't know what you're doing. There are also some good apps out there that can hide an active root, although it's been some time since I've had to use them.

I was told if I root my gear I can use bluetooth tether and essentially run apps on my gear. The apps I'm looking to run are for my car alarm and ingress. So what I was wondering is what I was told true? And do I just have to root my gear or does my phone have to be rooted as well? Because right now I have the Note 3 completely stock and unrooted.

You dont need to root your gear in order to run custom apps, depending on what type of app it is tho they may or may not work..
I would read up on side loading applications first, test the waters out.. the apps you require may work straight out of the box by simply side loading them to your gear with out rooting.
Alternatively if you find the apps dont work, you can try loading my rom which includes a few library's, unlocked features & other various functions that some apps require in order to run correctly.
EDIT: Here is a simple guide on how to sideload applications: HERE

Awesome thank you! I'll have to read up on how you sideload apps. I saw a YouTube video where guy was actually playing ingress on his watch, what was on his phone screen transferred to watch screen same for his car alarm app, he just didn't say if it was rooted or not I just figured it was lol. Sorry had to edit my post. I do think you probably needs to be rooted to run something like ingress since it's an online game and the gear can't run anything online like a game or Facebook so I guess maybe that's why it has to be rooted and use a Bluetooth transfer lol I'm a very big newbie when it comes to the gear.

Bluetooth tethering is the easiest way. If you root your watch you can actually install play store and download as if it's a tablet tethered. Some apps may need to be wifi spoofed with is a xposed module included in null.
Keep in mind your phone needs to be running an international rom. I had to get rid of my T-Mobile rom for an international to enable Bluetooth tethering. Wasn't the watch holding me back, rather the phone itself

So I've been loving this device so far but the only complaint I have is that every time my phone needs to use mobile data, receive or place a phone call, or send or receive a text message, the "Data usage is running" icon will appear for literally less than a split second and it's annoying the hell out of me. I've managed to record a slow motion video on my S4 in order to capture a screen shot of the icon appearing in my notification bar which I've attached below. It looks like I'm able to stop it from constantly appearing but the darn thing isn't around long enough for me to click on it...ANY help? I have tried to go into my application manager and disable it that way but no dice. Also, not rooted and completely stock.
The text on the icon reads "Data usage is running - Touch for more information or to stop ...."
If you go to settings, wireless & networks, data usage. Do you have a checkmark next to alert me about data usage. Is yes, remove it.
Sent from my lair.
Yeah, unfortuantely I had already tried that and it didn't work... Have you experienced the same issue? It's gotten to the point where I'll deliberately send my device a text message from another phone and try to tap the icon in my pull down but it just disappears so damn quick. I know it isn't really that big of a deal but I'm sure I can't be the only one on here who nit picks their phone.

Nope, totally stock. I've debated taking it in to Sprint but I know all they'll do is perform a soft reset (which I've done) and hand me back the phone.
Just got off the phone with HTC, That was essentially useless. Gonna take it in to Sprint tomorrow and cross my fingers for something good.

Yes, I am at work currently. I will give you a quick guide tonight when I get home.
After installing the Xposed framework, I installed the Notify Clean Module.

After that is running and ready, you need to trigger the notification so it can log it. Once that is done it will be listed as below.

I suspect it would as it happens with more than just messaging. Also happens when ending a call.
I have a unrooted stock g flex and the phone is awesome. The issue I am having though is after the 4.4.2 update my stock messaging app stopped downloading mms messages weather it be pictures or group texts. I have tried multiple add on sms apps and now 90 percent of me texts come in twice in the add on app. Im getting nothing from the stock app just texts come in twice back to back. I have reset apn and networks also cleared data on the stock app and the sms app with reboot to no avail. Ive even uninstalled the extra app and re installed and it still did the same thing. Any body else ran into this on tmobile?

Not sure if it will work being that your phone took the update. But try un rooting the phone, then update thru a computer. Then reroot phone.
Just for future use, before doing stock updates always un root the phone first, back to its factory set up.
Lots of rooted phones have issues do to trying the OTA updates while rooted and more then half the times have issues afterwards cause their rooted OS is missing original software that the update requires.

Rooting doesn't take away any of the stock software, installing a custom UI and modifying the OS is something completely different from attaining root. Seriously.
