Hey Guys,
I have changed my mind again, and decided to go with Darky's newest rom. I had always thought that 2.3.3 JVK came with the gingerbread boot-loaders but never see it mentioned in the areas that discuss going from one firmware to another. With JVK 2.3.3, is it required that I first flash a JVQ firmware first before flashing Darky's new 10.2? Any help would be awesome. Thanks in advance. Specs as follows:
Bell Mobility I9000m Vibrant
Model Number:GT-I9000
Firmware Version:2.3.3
Baseband Version:I9000UGKC1 (Flashed this separately when I first installed GB due to poor signal.)
Kernel Version:2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVK-CL75655 se infra SEI-28 #2
Build Number:GINGERBREAD.XXJVK
CWM 3.0.0.5
Rooted
Have a look on Darkyys forum (link on his ROM Post) and follow TotallyDubbeds video of how to flash it, i was on a "stock" deodexed JVQ and followed the instructions to load it and went without any hassle.

Hey guys! i have a i9000m galaxy s. Itts running darkys 9.5 ,darkcore 1.4 and JVE modem. I need to send it away but im not 100% sure on how to return this phone back to COMPLETE stock! any tips? thanks guys!
returning to stock
Hi, just grab the ROM from Samfirmwares.com (Froyo or GB) and flash it with Odin, ticking repartition (going into Download mode). I suggest you to get the JVH version as this is the one that will be released by Samsung these days. Then install ramads Deodexed ROM over it to get better performance. Now you have stock ROM. Anyways, I recommend you to flash Juwes ROM on top of it that is as stable as stock and just has another theme besides several improvements under the hood.

There's the link to the firmware section:

You have to register to be able to download.
Grab I9000XWJVH ## CSC = I9000NEEJV3 (CSC for nordic countries).
Then unzip and flash according the guides here or at samfirmware.com
no no no dont flash gingerbread 2.3
it is not out officially yet, well for most of us it is not. unless kies says its available dont use it.
flash 2.2.1 froyo, this is available world wide and will stop the nasty men at samsung raising their eyebrows.
Hi Guys!
I was reading now through a lot of thread but as I never flashed a ROM before I didn't get to know what i wanted.
I am running Gingerbread 2.3.2 (JV1) and want to change to Darky's Extreme Edition v10.1.
What do I have to be careful about? Do I have to install Ficeto_JVH_Odin before?
Sorry for asking, probably there is an appropriate explanation somewhere but I couldn't find it.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Regards

- V10.1 is based on JVH firmware so to flash it you need to install a JVH base ROM first Flashing a base ROM means flashing it with Odin. Ficeto_JVH_Odin is what you should use. Everything will be explained, keep reading.
- If you already flashed Ficeto_JVH_Odin then you can flash v10.1 over it, else you need to flash Ficeto_JVH_Odin before flashing v10.1 in CWM.
- If you flashed Ficeto_JVH_Odin & Ficeto_JVH_CWM on top you can also flash v10.1 over it no problem.
- If you come from Froyo, from Gingerbread JVK or JVB then YES you need to flash the JVH base ROM. If you don't you'll probably have problems.

OK so did i get that right: I first have to install Ficeto via Odin and then I can install Darky's 10.1 via Recovery?
Sorry, I know there's always a risk of bricking the phone, but I just want to be sure that I don't destroy it because I made a fatal mistake flashing it from a wrong version.

yes flash that ficeto JVH first, thats the gingerbread base, then you apply darky's rom over it
Thanks man. I know it sounded stupid, but i just wanted to have a 100% guarantee that i got i right.

no probs. we would all prefer you ask a simple question than, start a post ' i bricked my phone' lol
Hey guys, just started flashing roms etc. yesterday, and ended up being completely amazed at how versatile these phones can actually be!
My phone is a GT-I9000M on Bell's network in Canada.
I am currently running Darky's ROM 10.2 on Ficetos Deodexed JVH for the I9000
PDA: I9000XWJVH
PHONE: I9000UGKC1
CSC: I9000XEEJV3
I want to try out Cyanogenmod7, and am curious as to whether I can simply install the update.zip package on my Ficeto JVH? Or do I need to re-flash back to a stock version of 2.2 before installing CM7?
Thanks for all the help!
PS. Not quite clear on which of which is a kernal, rom, etc. so bear with my lack of proper classification.

HOLY CRAP, Thank you, I could not find a definitive guide for CM7 on a SGS for the life of me. after googling, searching here, the wiki, and the CM7 site, nothing.
Thank you so much!
Hi, I am having problems upgrading my phone from Darky's v9.2 Extreme Edition to DarkyRom v10.2 Resurrection.
After alot of forum reading/trial and error/semi-bricking I successfully installed v9.2 on my phone using heimdall.
Phone specs:
Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant (Canadian Bell)
GT-I9000M
Firmware version: 2.2.1
Baseband version: I9000XXJPY
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9
Build: Darky's v9.2 Extreme Edition
I followed this guide to get version 9.2 installed using heimdall(darky-resurrection-edition-guide.1578 -sorry couldn't post url), I couldn't get any version to work using odin.
And now I've been using this guide to upgrade to 10.2, attempting installs with odin and heimdall, with no luck (darkyrom-v10-4-2-xwjw1.6577-sorry couldn't post url), doing the "long guide" outlined in the post.
After I try this guide my phone shows the DarkyRom logo and then infinitely reboots.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should try????? I've currently reflashed it back to v9.2.
I don't completely understand firmware versions, kernel versions, rom versions. I think I am running Froyo version, if thats whats 2.2.1 means. I have mainly been fooling around with this because the kies update semi-bricked my phone. Anyways, thanks for the help/suggestions
I also read in another thread on here to use the app DarkyOTA, in the app store it says that my device is not compatible with this app, so not sure if that is the proper route.
Flash a stock GB rom with Odin.. then a cf root kernel.. then you can install any custom rom you want from clockwork mod recovery.. I have never used hemidal so I can't help you with that...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Hey all, in a bit of a time crunch. I have a friend coming over tonight with an i9000 and I'm going to help him flash a custom rom as he's disliking stock 2.x
I have just about every tool/rom/kernel/odin package/etc. imaginable downloaded for the captivate but I need to know what I can use on the i9000.
Here is what I need from you guys...
- A link to GB bootloaders (odin flashable) for the i9000
- A recommendation for a good clean & stable 2.3 ROM (he won't want 4.0 just yet)
- A link to an odin flashable kernel with the latest CWM
- i9000 windows drivers unless the captivate ones I already installed will work
I know the captivate and i9000 are super similar but I'm pretty sure you cant flash an i9000 with captivate ROM's even if they are i9000 based. The only thing I'm actually concerned about is flashing the proper bootloaders. After that its smooth sailing.
Thanks all in advance!
hey man,
the best way to do this is to flash the leaked jvu through odin found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431596
You can find odin and 512 pit file for i9000 at www.samfirmware.com you can also find device drivers there too.
the leaked jvu is a pretty good rom for your friend, and from there you can flash any rom found in the i9000 development section.
