change song with earphones - HD7 General

i see really few people blaming about this.
and this is a feature that HTC MUST put in this mobile: how si possible taht i can't change song with earphones? even my old Sony ericsson did it!!!

Are you using the stock headphones that came with the HD7, and when you say music are you referring to Zune?

yes and yes! i know that samsung does it, so its just htc probem

I would have swore the stock headphones changed tracks in Zune, but I stopped using stock headphones a while back. I'll test it out and let you know the results!

The stock headphones that come with the HD7 do in fact change tracks. Unfortunitly I hate earbuds so I'm using a set of Sony IEMs which, of course, are made for iPhones so the controls don't work. They sound good though. If anyone comes across a set of IEMs that do work with the HD7 please let me know.

really? How do you change tracks with it? The only buttons my headphones have are volume up and down and send/end call button, all for a total of three buttons, nowhere is there any skip track buttons...

a pint of beer if u show how to do this
stock earphones, like LuizRaul said, have just volume up/down and pause button. also if u double click on volume up or down, it doesn't change song.

I stand corrected. As I said I hate earbuds so I never actually used them. So, this morning I took them out of the bag and gave it a shot and nope, they don't work. Guess I just assumed they did. Well, you know what they say about ass u me. lol

and also with this Mango update htc didnt included the earphone control for changing the song

Have you tested this with headphones that have those controls. Because the stock headphones only have controls for volume. Also, I've started using BT Stereo headphones and the controls for changing tracks work fine on them. Even before Mango.

I'm on the same boat with you on this one... well actually, I flashed RTM Mango when it came out a month ago and they stopped working which is understandable, but then when I flashed the stock TMOUS 7.0.7004.0 I thought it would work, but it didn't so I started updating officially through Zune Desktop and every time it updated I checked to see if it worked and it didn't... I checked on 7.0.7008.0, 7.0.7392.0 and finally on Mango 7.1.7720.68 and it didn't work on any of them... so either I damaged my firmware permanently or something happened to the headphones (which is highly unlikely)
Edit: I was talking about the stock HTC headphones for volume and mic and both don't work only headphones work

Hi there,
the included headset has this nice small control element for the music player but sadly you cant unplug the headphones and use your own ones. I checked HTC's website for a small adapter, so i could use my own.
But sadly the adapter only offers a call accept/call end-button, no player controls.
Does anyone know a good headset/adapter with player controls like this, but for 3,5mm, working with the HD2?
Thanks!
wait a minute... you cant use your own 3.5mm headphones? that would blow. i hope you misunderstood you.

Nono, you didnt get me right^^...you can use your own, but then you have no microphone and no music player control through this small control unit.
What i want is to disconnect the headphones near the control unit so that i can use the microphone/control unit from HTC with my own headphones! But there needs to be another 3,5mm jack on the control unit...but obviously there isnt...
The link ive included in my previous post shows what i mean, its a headset from HTC for the Hero.
Hi there,
Why don't you use Shure SE530? It may not have the controls you are looking for ... but the sound ... ... just makes you forget all the things you have "thought" you wanted =)

Cause i dont want to spent half of the money the HD2 cost me for a pair of headphones God damnit, those things are expensive!
I wanna have the best of both worlds, thats why i would like to see this remote control with a separate 3,5mm jack for my own headphones...
I won Zagg headphones - good sound quality and it has a control button and hardware volume control. The button works with HD2 - you can stop/pause in the HTC Player. I did not check what it does during a call.

On the headphones that are included the answer/hangup button also performs the play/pause function. So I think they should work for you. Just no Fast Frorward/Rewind/Skip function.
maybe you can try bluetooth headset. I have Samsung SBH-500, sound quality is brilliant, and it have controls exactly what you need... (plus volume controls )

I agree! That's why I took out the soldering iron (and looking glass) and mounted my Sennheiser CX400-II's on the control unit of the standard headphones.
What I meant to say was that the HS U350 set may work for you because the one button should probably have the same double function as the middle one on the standard headphones

Yeah, maybe thats the only choice we have left, if HTC is not able to get another type of headset out in the next weeks...
wont chopping and soldering headphones create massive oxidisation of the lead. Not to mention the increases resistance for the signal to go through poor quality copper cable then suddenly in to good quality OFC copper.
You'd probably lose 50% of the quality the Sennheiser are supposed to punch out.
If controlling music is the problem then you will either need to solder an existing control pad onto your headphones or use something like the rce100 that lets you use your own headphones.
If it's just the mic you need then you will probably be able to use your headphones as I've currently got the westone um3x (which has no inbuilt) mic attached to the hd2 and the phone automatically routes calls to the hd2's inbuilt mic when i'm listening to music with mortplayer. So provided your hd2 isn't out of reach you will be able to listen through your headphones and talk through the handset like on Nokias.
Does anyone know of anyone who creates mic/music controls that take your own headphones that might work? Doesn't the iFone support this? If I have to settle for play/pause only I will, but I'd like to keep the track skip if at all possible.
I have a pair of Bose earphones which are really nice, but it's much easier to hit the pause on the HTC 'phones when someone wants to distract me in work than turn the screen on, go back to the music screen, then hit pause.
I have one of these from MobileFun:
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/apple-iphone-stereo-handsfree-adapter-p15226.htm
Less than £12. It has vol slider and call/answer, you plug in your own phones. The call button works as play/pause in WMP, Sense and PocketPlayer, but haven't been able to get it working in MortPlayer. If anyone has any tips for getting it working in MortPlayer I'd appreciate it!
i have this combo, that work very nice

[Q] Sony SBH20 vs Sony MW1

My gf is in Germany right now and shee's planning on buying me some headphones.
I wanted the Sone MW1, but I saw that a "new" model came out, the SBH20 and wanted to ask which one you think is better?
Also, where can she get them? She is currently in Mainz and she's planning on buying the from amazon.de
PS: It will be great if you could make some suggestions on bluetooth headsets.
Thanks in advance.
I'd say go for SBH20. It's newer, supports latest AD2P and most importantly has NFC support so you don't have to pair your device with it - just tap your phone. I'm not sure SBH20 is out yet though...

Thanks for your reply... I saw it on amazon.de today. How safe is that page?
just bought sdh20 just now. true multipoint. the previous bluetooth i had all only support music in multipoint. this one support phone in multipoint. the problem is, i can't really select music source. apparently the music source will be randomize between device.
There's an SBH50 on the way soon.

That's a disheartening step backwards. I am looking to upgrade my dead MW600 which makes selecting music source easy. Just press and hold play and then the icons for FM and all 3 paired music devices comes up, just slide the volume selector to pick one. But I don't think what I am talking about is multipoint in the way you mean. Just selector for one A2DP and one HFP at a time.

to select music source, use your device (phone) not the bluetooth. just select media on one and deselect media on the other.
one plus point is the volume button, unlike the stupid volume slider on MW600, this button really works when you need it, and won't act like it being press if it's touching your shirt.
of course beside the stupid volume slide on MW600, MW600 won hands down. but i rather have less feature than non working/hard to use volume control when i really need to adjust the volume, or a volume control that has mind on its own when touching anything.

True the volume slider is a bit of a nightmare even after I mastered it. I just wish Sony would hurry the hell up with their headset releases. I've been waiting for the SBH50 to drop for months and now I just discovered the SBH52. I was fine waiting but now my MW600 won't turn on I need a replacement soon and it feels as if Sony is never releasing the SBH50 or 52.

Is it though? I'm looking and I sure as hell can't seem to find it for sale anywhere.I found mention of it in the UK Sony web store sold in limited amounts, but I haven't seen hide nor hair stateside.
EDIT: Okay I did mind to find it but not from any legit looking stores. Two random stores I have never heard of. But they both have decent reseller ratings so maybe I will try them. I haven't used a generic ecommerce site in years. There is a 3rd part seller on Amazon but they are charging 90$. Is it normal for Sony to not have any top tier distribution channels?
Hmm found a UK site that says the 52 will be out in september. I wonder if the UK version will be any different, maybe I'll just import it.
I am stuck in same jinx
can someone help me i need headset where i can plug in my earphones and i am considering sony headsets
so SBH50.SBH52,SBH20,SonyMW1 or any other similar devices which could be suggested.
what are the pros and cons and trade-offs involved

[Q] Beats Audio

I'm planning on getting the HTC One, and a major problem I found with my last device was that Beats earphones with ControlTalk didn't seem to work properly, more specifically the mic and the volume toggle buttons served no function whatsoever.
So my question is, does control talk work on the HTC One? And is there any additional feature that comes with the HTC One that works exclusively with Beats devices, such as the device recognizing that a Beats device has been plugged in? (Obviously im asking because it comes with beats audio).
Thanks in advance

and that would mean only the center button works, not the up and down volume buttons right? If i remember correctly, that's the deal with every android phone right? They're just not made to use 3 button controls.
And ontop of that, is there anything specific the One does for beats devices?

Yea the mics ok and the button for pausing music, not sure about answering calls with it though, i find myself shouting when i use headphones for talking, and i get a bit conscious about it. I know how stupid people look when shouting to themselves on trains etc, i don't want to be that person
i doubt there is anything specific for beats device
those 3 buttons only work if its designed to work on android device, otherwise only the center button would work.
If the mic and the inline control is designed for iPhone/iPhone compatible, then the volume control would not work on any android device due to the difference in wiring in the control.
There is also a problem with HTC devices that are jelly bean or above, google now will take over the long press function no matter what app you use, and double click would call the last person you dialed no matter what unless you install "headset button control" from market. The developer of that app included a fix for HTC device to work around the double click issue, but unfortunately that app doesn't work very well with the stock music app on the HTC One. Most of the command you make using the control will be ignored due to a change in the stock music app, and the developer said its a known issue with the HTC One stock music app, and currently there is no way to fix it. He recommend those have this problem to switch to other music player.

I just want the mic to work, regardless if i use it for calls. Cause in my opinion it just feels as though the earphones aren't being used to their full capability, they come with a mic...so there shouldn't be a reason for compromise. Beats aren't cheap, and id rather not have limited functionality cause because my phone doesn't support them.
All in all, when im listening to music and a call comes, its really annoying having to pause the music, take out the earphones, THEN answer the call. And if for some reason you forget to pause the music before taking out the earphones, the speakers will start blasting the music after the calls over, which is much more embarrassing.

One button is still better than no buttons on my current phone, and the fact that the mic will work, is the most important part for me. So as long as the mic works, and even just one button works, its worthwhile. I just feel as though im getting a combo, with the One and beats earphones, i just get a genuine feel that im using earphones that are made for this device, instead of the ill compatibility with my current phone.
As for the problem with HTC devices, i dont see that to be much of an issue, as Sense isn't that appealing to me and i REALLY like personalizing my phone (i.e. different launchers, music players, and even custom roms when the time comes) so i probably will download my own music player within a few days of getting the phone.
I know this might go a bit off topic, but essentially i need to choose between the One and the S4, and the tipping point for me is the beats audio on the One. Also, i think hardware's more important for me as i like customizing my phone anyways.
Theres just one question i have left, that needs a slight explanation. So i live in Canada, and im currently with Bell, but most of my contract is left so i cant get a new phone. My friend, whose done is contract and is happy with his current phone, is willing to upgrade to a new phone and give the new device to me, while he keeps his old phone. Like i said i need to decide between the S4 or One...or any other device but i believe those are the top 2. And the problem is, hes currently on Rogers, and the phones going to be locked, and im more than confident that these providers are not willing to unlock the phone for me. So the question is, which device do you think there will be an unlock for first, letting me use it with my provider? Im not into paid unlocking as i believe it is not currently illegal and sketchy, so which device do you think will get it first, free of cost?

When a call comes through, the music pauses automatically. I'm sure someone can map the buttons on the beats headphones to answer calls etc, if they don't work already.

And when the call ends, the music turns back on. The ISSUE was that i would have to take out the earphones to answer the call, since the mic doesnt work with my current device. headset controls on the One are LAME

This is the kind of thing that makes me want to go back to Samsung, I mean they are the leaders in sound yet can't get music controls correct and keep a freaken standard. Last HTC I had came with a 3 buttons headset and through all Android did. With the One they give you good headphones but a single button headset and no way to skip tracks.:crying: I tried 3rd party apps like headset droid to make use of the single button headset but it seems like some clicks go unregistered, single click (pause) works, but when you double click all presses after that go unregistered and you have to click (pause) click (unpause) and then you can change the track.
I confirmed using the button monitor that clicks after a track change go unregistered which seems odd and I'm surprised no one else has this issue? This is with the stock music player.
When using Play Music and setting Headset Droid to specifically control it it starts to work like i want but weird the stock player canot be controlled the same way.
Complaints like this are stupid. It's just headset controls and if it is really annoying you buy a different phone.
I know it may seem a bit harsh but a complaint like this is a bit redundant.

Why is it stupid? The controls have nothing to do with the phone. The phone (stock music player) has the capability its just the supplied headset are lacking. If they supplied a 3 button headset like most newer phones then this would not be an issue (brothers Note 2 three button headset can skip tacks when plugged into the HTC One). Last HTC came bundled with a 3 button headset and if the One did I would not have to resort to 3rd party music apps and apps to control a single button headset. If they wanted to supply it with a single button headset then the music player should have been modified to support it.
Sure I can go buy Beats but the supplied headset should be able to complete a simple task such as changing a track.
I wish there was a MOD that fixed this! Drives me CRAZY. And I don't want to switch music players - I actually think everything else considered, HTC's music app is one of the best I've used on Android

Pffff drives me crazy, so ridiculous.
I wish there was a mod to bypass the damn default settings of the headset button. This way we could use Jays Headset Control app....
I gave up on it and use Google Music now, I really liked the stock player but can't complain with the recent updates Google added. I froze the stock player so it never kicks in
So it does not work with a 3 button headset, or you are just obsessed with the fact that it it not COME with one?
Because it would seem like a simple fix to just buy one, if the phone supports it.
I just used the 3-button control headset that came with my Desire HD (they're still available on the internet) and it worked perfectly as before. I can answer calls, skip tracks, change radio stations etc...

[Earbuds/Headphones] With Volume Control

Hello,
I saw this annoucement today > Sprint Exclusive Harman Kardon Phone with special earbuds
This got me to thinking, a lot of the Harman Kardon earbuds have volume control and answer/pause/hangup buttons. In theory, the hardware on this edition is identical to the other HTC M8s in the world. This is technically just a software optimization and a packaging of name brand earbuds. So I wanted to start a thread for Earbuds/Headphones that people are using that have working volume controls on the M8.
I am using some Note 3 (Samsung) earbuds with volume and call button. The volume bottons (Up - Skip forward a track, Down - Skip Back a Track) and the Call button (pause/play music) work, but not as expected. I know it may be a combination of software and hardware, but figured there has to be some thing that can work on this phone. It seems silly to have a phone with superior sound quality on the auxiliary output as well as the front facing speakers, with limited options for earbuds/headphones.

From what I have seen in my quick study into both the M8 & M8HK firmware & rom, it looks to be 100% software. You can actually find all the references to the HK software & enable it in settings by modifying the existing xml in the ACC folder. It won't do anything YET, just enable the options in settings, but once someone has a chance to do some digging & testiing, I am certain it will be an easy thing to implement. There are also already a few headphones that will work with HTC devices that can control volume. There is a thread just like this with lists in some of the older device threads, like the One X, One + & One M7.
obviously the stockers that come with the m8 work. also i have used a set of jaybird bluebuds but they are full bluetooth however everything works as it should.
since trying the stockers out last night, i have to say they sound better plugged in compared to wireless (obviously due to better connection and amplifiers etc). this got me thinking what others are available. i have been looking at the bowers and wilkins c5 earbuds. not the cheapest not the most expensive available but they are advertised as apple compatible. apparantly when used with android only the volume controls dont work. has anyone tried these out on a android.
I purchased the OEM headphones from HTC's site:
http://www.htc.com/us/accessories/htc-stereo-headphones/
And even these don't control the phone properly. Which sucks because the website says fully compatible with the M8.
have anyone used the bowers and wilkins c5 earbuds with an android specifically the m8. would love to get these but a bit expensive if they dont work as they are advertised as compatible with ios devices.

Hello,
I saw this annoucement today > Sprint Exclusive Harman Kardon Phone with special earbuds

That's one ugly HTC One M8! Looks like a huge iPhone 3g! I'm very happy with boomsound and the stock equalizers, music has never sounded better in my car streaming via BT. I've always used the latest Jaybird BT headphones. Once you go BT headphones it's hard to go back to wire/cord.
Volume control and play/pause should work with pretty much all headphones. Previous/next track and scrolling - not. This is because Apple has some very weird patents for music controls via cable. So nothing is gonna change in this matter anytime soon.
Not really true. Just about every earphones I've used that have 3 buttons don't control volume on Android, but they do on iOS. If they work on Android the pin out must be different.

That's exactly my issue. Stock ear buds that come with phone only have answer pause button. And any I've tried with volume only skip track. Sucks about HTC OEM stereo ones because I almost bought those. The search continues for volume control ear buds. I know wireless prob fixes problem, but I'm old school and like wired. Also, don't want to have one extra thing to charge. Still resisting Bluetooth as long as I can because most last 8 or so and I would have to charge daily. I use earbuds all day.

I've been using Sony XBA-2VPs on my GS4 (with volume wheel instead of buttons) without button mapping apps. Went to use them on the M8 and still works like a charm.
I believe a-JAYS Five would also still work on the M8 and that has volume buttons.

I've owned the c5's for about 2 years now and they work flawlessly. Control every thing without issue. And sound better than any other earbuds available imo.

Maybe it is the ROM you are using or a mod you are running because I have those exact headphones and they worked perfectly for my M7 and now for my M8. Play/Pause button, Volume Up/Down, 2X for Forward and 3X for Reverse, it all works. What isn't working properly for you?

Quick question: is the wheel a.. Potentiometer? If so, this has nothing to do with the phone itself.
About the apple dilemma: apple has a different wiring. Most of the headphone producers build for the majority, which they think are apple users. They have to decide. If it works on Android, the Apple people are mad. If it works for Apple devices, the Android people are: silent.
It's our fault.
Also, many OEMs that build Android devices do their own thing, which does not help, either.
It'd be nice to see some unity. But that's not going to happen soon, if at all.

Weird. I'm running Skyfall with barely any mods on top of it.
The headphones are working as follows:
Volume + = Next track track
Volume - = Previous track
Middle button = Play/pause
Are you running a customer ROM?

I've had these for quites a while and love them! I hear ya on being old school, but these last 6-8 hours easy. They charge quickly and sound great. Volume control, water/sweat resistant, a little pricey but a worthy investment.

I'm running InsertCoin right now but they worked on the stock ROM also. That was one of the first things I tested when I got the phone. I work overnight and ride around listening to music all night. Having working 3 button headphones are very important to me.
Just chiming in... I just received the HTC RC E190 set from Amazon. On my M8, completely stock, AT&T ROM, with both the stock Music app as well as Play Music, the volume + button will skip back one track, and the volume - button skips forward one track.
I got the original htc earbuds and for me they just work great. first i use them with an htc one x+ but hey just stop working sometimes. but now with the htc one m8 they work all the time. there is just one thing i dont like, is that i cant use the voice control when the screen is locked. i think it would be great if htc gave us the option to activate this,.
the sound of this earbuds are just great for me, the bass responde is very nice, but now i want to try something like the Dual Driver 3-button Black (Android) from degauss labs, they cost like 100 dollars, or the Sabotage Royale 3-button Black (Android) that costs 60 dollars
i hope this can help you
Hi, i've bought these: http://www.plantronics.com/uk/product/backbeat-go-2 .
Very practice and the sound is good.
For who cannot accept the last piece of wire must wait till gen 2015:https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1629248706/earin-the-worlds-smallest-wireless-earbuds (i'm waiting )
