ClockworkMod - GT540 Optimus Android Development

Hey everyone, so i have this question, few moments ago i tried Rom Manager from market and see if it does work on our devices, after i installed it i noticed it dosnt support our device now i wonder why? We do have a recovery image... We do have lots of ROM developers and lots of ROMS. Is there any way we can make GT540 support ROM Manager so everything would be more easier ? :s
Here's they're site http://www.clockworkmod.com/
And the app: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager&feature=search_result
People could easily update they're Updated ROM and Recovery via this simple app :S

I'm going to message Koush about this and see if our device will be added. But we need some sort of warning about flashing a fastboot ROM first, because we need a fastboot ROM to enable the 'misc' partition. Let's just say its our version of the 'nand lock'

bump, any news on this ?

It will be good first to get official CM support. The ROM Manager support comes along with that, because ROM Manager downloads CyanogenMod to your phone and installs it. I think only CyanogenMod supported devices have ROM Manager support (correct me if I'm wrong).

P500 is not officialy supported by CM, but recovery P500 is supported in ROMManager.
We just need ask Koush to add our device in list.
Here is a basic recovery config https://github.com/Mur4ik/android_device_lge_swift
I'm too trying to contact with Koush but still does not have answers.

I'm pleased to present my MoDaCo Custom ROM for the HTC Legend (this is the version based on the 3.14.161.1 Froyo reelase)! READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU START! No, really, it contains everything you need to know.
Remember that if you use this ROM, you do so entirely at your own risk!!
About MoDaCo Custom ROMs
MoDaCo Custom ROMs are based on official ROMs - either shipping or leaked. A MCR release is designed to feel as far as possible like a stock ROM, with optimisations, tweaks and complimentary additions that enhance the user experience. The aim of a MCR is to be ultra reliable for use on an everyday device.
Requirements
In order to use this ROM on your device, you must have a custom recovery image installed (Clockwork Mod).
Features (these are the features for the currently posted prebake, please check the changelog for any pending changes that are in the kitchen)
Based on the 3.14.161.1 Froyo release
Pre-rooted with su and Superuser Permissions by ChainsDD
Insecure boot image (ro.secure=0)
Optimised with the MCR build process
All components updated to the latest versions
ROM is de-odexed
Please note that this is the first Froyo release, many more changes will be added now via the kitchen and periodically updated prebakes (as per normal MCR builds!)
Changelog
Please see 2 posts below this one for the changes in each release.
Installation
To install this ROM:
Download the zip file of your choice from the links below (or the online kitchen) and copy to your SD card
Restart your device in recovery mode
PERFORM A NANDROID BACKUP FROM THE MENU
Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to your memory card
Upgrading
No wipe is explicitly required in order to use this ROM, however if you do encounter issues of any kind, it is recommended that you wipe your device and reproduce the issue before raising it here.
Downloads
This ROM is now available in the online kitchen! In addition to the kitchen, a prebaked download is available.

Hi Paul
Thanks for the quick release.
Quick question. What is insecure boot and what is deodexed? I've only flashed a few roms before, thanks.

My early ROM is a stock ROM - this is optimised, deodexed for themers and will be getting all the usual extra MCR stuff.

[DEV][UNOFFICIAL][RECOVERY] ClockworkMod v3.2.0.1 (v. gamma)

I have successfully ported ClockworkMod for Galaxy Ace.
Almost everything is working, including flashing boot and recovery images and full backup and restore.
TO-DO List:
Build flashable zip for Froyo.
Fix power-off (as it does a full power off, until you keep pressed power button, then it gets back to recovery).
Try to make a unified version for Froyo and Gingerbread basebands.
Get official support (already notified Koush).
Changelog:
Alpha
Initial release
Beta
Custom kernel with ext4 support (for Froyo and Gingerbread versions).
USB Mass Storage Mode fixed (need's testing on Gingerbread).
All Ace versions should work (using proper build).
Gamma
Fixed reboot out of recovery.
Reverted to 3.x version of CWM, as 4.x is being actively developed (breaking things).
Flashing method:
Flashable zips (currently only for Gingerbread):
Flash attached ClockworkMod-ginger-gamma-signed.zip from any recovery (stock or CWM).
ODIN (alternative method, currently only method for Froyo):
Flash attached recovery_gamma_[your version].tar from ODIN. Put Cooper.ods in proper field, and recovery in PDA field. Leave other fields blank and ignore both errors.
Please port it to the latest 2.3.4 and the european froyo version.
Thanks

+1.... Instead of working separately and trying to port CWM, if you, dee000000 and PabloPL collaborate then the work would complete faster and due to the combined effort i am sure that it would be better and also save time and effort of all 3 of you.

I have successfully ported ClockworkMod for the american version of Galaxy Ace, running Froyo build of Samsung stock firmware.
Almost everything is working, including flashing boot and recovery images and full backup and restore.
Functions not working:
Formatting partitions.
Reboot recovery (you'll probably end in a boot loop, booting recovery everytime, until you flash an stock recovery in ODIN).
Enabling USB-Mass-Storage mode
Changes pending:
Build for GT-S5830 (european Ace).
Add EXT4 support (custom kernel or module loading).
Build flashable zip.
Code cleanup.
Publish full sources.
Fix boot loop (should send recovery-done to the bootloader).
Tomorrow I will continue development.
Recovery image (for GT-S5830L) attached in a tar (you can flash in ODIN if you like).

Hi, great work. Could you share fix for graphics bug? How did you tested nandroid backup of boot/recovery? (could you test it on my CMW?).
If you want, i can send you what changes i've made, so then we would have fully working recovery for Ace.
Strange, USB Mass Storage mode is working for me (in my recovery). Didn't had to do any changes to make it working.
Edit 1:
I've fixed reboot problem.

using my fix on github?
will be more progress if you collaborating too on porting recovery for our device.
backup & restore seems okay, but i've bricked my galaxy mini when flashing rom via update.zip. i think it's because write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img", "boot"), command in update script.
are you have to testing flash update.zip on your recovery?

I've tested backup+restore. I've also tested "flash_image recovery recovery.img". Doing it from a zip shouldn't be so different.
Sharing my sources is on my original todo list since the beginning, I've just didn't have enough time.
Sources will be in http://github.com/ilarrain.
I think the fix for ace's bml flashing is already there.

Looked at your changes and they looks like the same as mine, so nandroid backup for boot/recovery should also work in my sources.
Now the only think is to fix reboot loop (i thought that i've fixed it - tested with fakeflash recovery, but after flashing it wouldn't worked:/). Will look at it tomorrow.

Great!!! So we need less versions to mantain: froyo and gingerbread, no matter the ace version.
i also create a backup for recovery.img using yours tar for froyo, if some one needs it

rm /cache/update.zip

Just flashed this ROM, everything looks good and working except:
- the hardware keyboard mapping is out. Alphabets are fine, it is the numbers and punctuations that is a mess. w=1 e=2 r=3 s=4 etc tried using the build-in keyboard changer but didnt help
- if I go to landscape and then back to portrait, the call, application drawer and browser shortcut which is at the bottom of the desktop will disappear. it takes a reboot to bring it back
- Tried to get the battery icon to change using UOT kitchen by uploading the apk file from the zip package but it doesn't seem to work.
so far that's it.
thanks for the effort

2) My phone's a stock phone from Fido in Canada. I've unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone. When I go to Settings > About Phone, my Build Number at the very bottom says "4.0.A.2.335"

Thanks for posting the link to 4.0.2.A.0.42. The previous rom link was missing.
Will this ROM work on my phone even though I've got an MK16a, and not an MK16i? I'm from Canada using a Fido phone, so I want to make sure my phone's Radio will work properly...this ROM is from the UK, so I'm not sure.
Just asking because on the Motorola Milestone, which I upgraded from, you had to select a different radio depending on which country you lived in.
Why do we even need to flash 4.0.2.A.0.42? Is CM7 not a complete ROM replacement? It is on the Milestone - doesn't matter what version you're coming from since CM7 replaced everything.
And FYI, the 10EUR donation was from me
Hope it goes to good use!

we need to ensure that you have the proper baseband (radio software) this is why we request an semc rom flash 4.0.2.A.0.42 has baseband 56

That would be great if you could post an SEMC update for the mk16a. One that will work in Canada
One final question: Is it possible to do a full nandroid backup prior to applying these updates, so that if I want to return to stock, I can?
I was thinking hotboot a recovery via fastboot, then take the nandroid, and then flash the SEMC update, and finally flash CM7.
The nandroid backup makes backup only of the TDs(/system,/data,etc), but it doesn't backups the kernel. As it's the same android & kernel version, it's mos probable the FXP kernel will work with the stock ROM, but I'm not sure.
Edit: I saw the Bi4ry post, and it says the stock ROM is not compatible with FreeXperia kernel.
Tried to use this instead of the official CM7 from cyanogenmod site but after boot.img it doesn't boot anymore and I can't enter CWM recovery....

Not to be rude, but... When will the FXP044 will be ready? I'm waiting for it. I used a unofficial port of CM7 on my old U20a, and it was really good, so I can't wait to try something better on my MK16a.
Also, will the update to 4.0.2.A.0.42 will be necessary anyway? Which part does the ROM would depend on it?

This rules that this has been ported, as I use the PhilzTouch on my Galaxy Tab2. I even donated a few $$ to him!
One question, with the shared kernel "feature" of the T, how did you avoid having it revert back to stock CWMrecovery anytime one flashes a new ROM?
Regardless, I'll try this out tonight.
Hey i always wanted this to get ported! Im using the leaked 4.3 rom and it does work but it only boots into the recovery everytime. Is this a bug or is there a way to fix this?

So how do I go about installing this?
Is it as simple as boot the "T" into flashboot mode and running

But I'd rather not blow away my phone if this is wrong.
Can I use this for the xperia V, too ?

Is there a trick to using PhilzTouch on the T to avoid the shared kernel?
I installed it via "flashboot boot philz.img" and at first glance, it seems to work the same as on my Galaxy Tab 2.
But then it turns out that its not really useable.
a) I was unable to boot back into my normal ROM. Rebooting always brought it back to PhilzTouch.
b) Even if I could have found a way to boot my phone, it turns out that PhilzTouch recovery was overwritten by the stock recovery as soon as I installed a newer CM nightly which I tend to do nightly.
hi all
can i use for TX ? do i need UL or not ? thanks
How to install this recovery?
fastboot flash boot boot.img gives me each time a reboot in recovery
fastboot flash recovery boot.img gives me an error.
Anyone got this working?

Would you please share how you did it? A how-to would be great including which ROM you came from and all the steps in clear chronological order.

You need Unlocked Boatloader at first!
1. install the 4.3 rom (any you like). Flashing the FTF with everything included
2. Flash this CWM recovery and install SU zip
3. flash FTF and exclude all except KERNEL.
Done! (limited time to write so made it short)

@steveboss is reporting an extremely sensitive touch interface, is there any way you can confirm it is working out of the ordinary?

Hello, I send you video tomorrow
@steveboss where's the video?
@Phil3759
I'm having trouble to get philz to recognize the internal sdcard partition (its a real partition, not part of userdata)... what ever I try, it just keeps failing...
Do you have a possibility to build philz based on the CM10.1 or the freexperia 'jellybean' repo for this device?
I'm starting to suspect the CM10.2 repo might contain some issues as it was put together with pure CM in mind, which might make it incompatible with the stock sony JB4.3 kernel...
The Xperia T made a jump from JB4.1.2 to JB4.3 in one step up, receiving it only a month or so ago, while the CM10.2 repo has been around for far longer...
The 'original' locked bootloader package has made the same jump up recently and CWM started causing problems for it's users too.

Look at the fireball device repo (fstab file) to use vold with real sdcard partition
Else use compatibility recoveryonly option in fstab with real blk device path

With 8.4 i have problems with usb transfer from PC to phone.
one small <100KB single file is ok but +1MB single file or with many <100KB the transfer is always hanging after a few percent. latest lg driver pack 3.12.3 is installed on win8.1.1 x64
no problems with previous version!

Problems installing slimcat 8.4 or 8.6.1 on my P990
Since this is my first post here please be patient with me. I have previously installed successfully version 7.8. Then trying to update to 8.4 or to clean install 8.4 did not work. Although twrp says "succsess" the phone when rebooted halts on LG logo. Tried to flash 8.6.1 - no success, changed partition format to f2fs and again at boot the phone displays s/w upgrade, wait for... and does not boot. I can fortunately restore previous 7.8 install from backup. Any suggestions?

Yes, I performed full factory reset, wiped caches and then reformatted data and system partitions to new format. Then installed 8.6 from zip and TWRP comunicated "success". But my device stalls at boot on lg logo now.

You need a new twrp version.
In general it is possible, but I don't know the diffrences between p990 and su660 (only kernel?).
My device does not recognize the root. how do I activate?

Well yeah , I have the new TWRP 2.7.1.0 when you go changing partitions, there's no F2FS in the option only ext1, ext2,... etc, could you anyway, make the recovery in the p990 compatible with su660?

You also need a kernel with f2fs support.
Maybe that is the reason why you can't see f2fs inside the recovery.

Oh I see, I don't think there's no kernel in su660 that supports it, and firtecy's kernel is for p990 only... Its hopeless haha, BTW thanks for your help

Hi i really like slimkat, and i have any suggestions : 1) would be great if you can add a way to swap sdcard between internal and external like in cm11
2) i think that hktheme manager is useful but now we have a lot of themes for the new cm theme engine,so consider to port it .anyway thanks a lot for your work
Hi everyone...
I have a p990 and stuck at the 7.8 ver. because my device don't show the f2fs option in the latest twrp...I have done a clean install (wiped everything) of 7.8 , installed the new twrp, and when I go to change the extension to f2fs, there is not that option there What am I doing wrong?
Tryed to install and the latest ver. of kernel but still nothing there...I forgot to tell you that the ROM (8.6.... .zip) is in the external sd card...
Done Used the AIO toolkit and flashed the v30 A and done everything from the beggining...Thanks and sorry for the mess
Sorry for my bad english

I think there no support enabled inside the kernel, or the kernel has no driver for your device.
Did you look into logcat (rom and kernel) if anything is logged?

Hello
LG-P990, Slim 4.4.4 build 8.10 works well,
-Install PCTVCenter
-USB not connect
-Anything not auto connect open PCTVCenter
-I'm trying to change Rom MIUI 4.1 (4.5.30) does step starter... Too old?
-Before, I recalls HDMI works with Miui, not market Slim, perhaps same USB not work Slim, if I'm wrong?
I disappointed.
Thank you.
Kind regards.
