[SCRIPT] Juwes Ram optimization - Wildfire Android Development

Hi, i found this on xda, so i didnt make it... Juwe did... all thanks goes to him.
This script will make your RAM in the best optimization, the best optimization means the best balance between free memory, multitask, speed of launching apps and system speed.
I personaly tested it... the results were great. It made my rom faster, smoother and the battery lasted longer. So try it... the file is attached... use CWM to flash it.

is it working for every rom? (sense and cm7)

Just tried it on Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 . Works like a charm ! Thanks, Aca902 !

Yeah it works on all roms, ive been using it for my galaxy tab, wildfire and LG O2x its good on them all

kernel
And what about the kernel. In original thread they say: works just with kernel which supports bla bla..... . It is safe I hope.

Hmmm ... interesting ... i try

i you have doubts... backup.

after i flash it..
it become like a original rom(lost all my apps,themes..)
i use CM 7
=====FIXED====
Need to reboot again lol

I test on CyanogenMod7 Nightly Build. It's work!

is the difference so big? is it really that fast?

You can also see the change if you go to 'running services'... there is much more free ram then before. There is a difference, and it isnt small....

ok, i will try it

The original thread says "...that supports init.d", and to check you can download that app and check for these values:
LMK values
10MB, 16MB, 24MB, 48MB, 56MB, 72MB
VM values
50, 10, 5, 10, 90, 5
what are the LMK and VM values? I want to know for sure this works on mine before flashing it (running CM 7.0.2 and I do have an init.d folder in system/etc/ )

you can use AutoKiller Memory Optimizer to check the LMK values but i dont know how to check vm,i searched for that two

I installed that one (the galaxy one did not work on the wildfire ) but what value is the LMK? What are the abbreviations LMK and VM? I first thought VM was virtual machine but the value is not expressed in MB so...

Works a treat for me. Thanks a lot

So you just download this (scan qr code) and then flash it under clockworkmod as a normal rom?

yes, just like that

cm method dont work for me i need to copy it then change permissions to work, but ist not a bigy

you lose all data and programs?

[Q] Cos-Ds or Gingeryoshi or Ads Magpie????

i currently have Sparksmod 2.1 and i am unsatisified. too laggy.
I can't decide on which rom to get, COS-DS , GINGERYOSHI, OR ADS MAGPIE?
I have researched and according to many, all these roms are good. Which should i get and why? please be specific.

if it is cm stuff you want then follow the firerat link on ADS's dropbox site
it is Magpie built into CM7
forget yoshi roms they are just binary mixes of old ezterry / cm with themes added
for A good stable ROM then look at Ezterry and ADS if you want built in apps2sd
for added functionality (cm) then COS or as mentioned above Magpie CM7 (which is over three weeks old now )
atm I'm using CM7 Magpie
It is not quite as snappy as ezterry/ADS but has all the extra CM features
I haven't tried COS yet but it looks to be a good mix of ezterry, magpie and cm and will no doubt be many times better than yoshi's because it is built from source and not just a mix of old binaries
so cos-ds then?

yeah why not
like I said I havn't actually tried it myself yet
looking at the thread the latest versions may have some stability issues since the Magpie was added.
but tbh there is nothing stopping you from giving all four a spin
maybe try the CM7 Magpie first
reason being it will be the slowest but has the most features
I think that will give you a useful benchmark to compare with the other more lightweight roms
Its just a case of finding which features of CM you can live without
(but I think ADS will be adding in the dropdown powerwidget soon as Roalex has tipped Anddisa as to what is required )
That's the great thing with COS, ADS and Ez
they are all sharing to make things better
Yoshi is just Mixing up several pre-compiled roms.
There is no real development/innovation going on
yea thats what i was thinking that COS-DS might have some stability issues since its still in the nightly stages.
I was looking for something stable and fast.
By a long shot try COS-DS. Ive been running it awhile and its very stable. I dont know where anyone gets that it aint. Give it a try you wont be dissapointed.

all three roms support compcache and all you need is just a simple script to change the value of compcache used. install gscript, copy the script and run it
here is 32 compcache
Code:
swapoff /dev/block/ramzswap0
rzscontrol /dev/block/ramzswap0 --reset
rzscontrol /dev/block/ramzswap0 --disksize_kb=32576
rzscontrol /dev/block/ramzswap0 --init
swapon /dev/block/ramzswap0
free
you can change the figure to any value that suits you.
swap can be done using firerat's all in one patch
p/s:the increase compcache script can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6762470&postcount=208

Choose between Cyanogenmod and 2.3.6

Hi everybody,
this is my first message in this forum
I have a Galaxy Next (= Mini) with Official Gingerbread 2.3.4, with root.
Now I want make my phone more fluid and faster, but I have no idea of the Rom I will flash.
The most famous are Cyanogenmod (7.1 or 7.2?) and the last Gingerbread (2.3.6).
Can you help me in my decision, even telling me the differences between the two Roms?
P.S: sorry for my bad english...
flash cm7.2.0 RC2 by squadzone its stable fast looks nice + u can use his OC kernel
The gingerbread 2.3.4 is the most fluid that i ever tested, I veer used Cyanogenmod but 2.3.4 is better than 2.3.6 (And the .3.5 SUCKS)
Thanks for your advice, but can you post the differences between Cyanogen and 2.3.4? What has more of Gingerbread?
cyanogen is better it has overclock it has a graphic equalizer, it's more customizable and it's not vendor dependent...it's pure android
Ok, i choose Cyanogen 7.2, but what about RC1/RC2?
CynogenMod7 RC2
For me CM7.0.2 RC2 is the best i've used so far.
Plus 782 OC Kernel
Plus A2SD Darktreamor
Try it. You'll love it

I must flash the kernel and the script via "recovery mode" after installing Cyano7.2, right?
yes. all other kernel and update using recovery (in CWM).
But after flashing the kernel, for changing frequence of the CPU i must use No-Frills CPU Control or the frequence is freezed (at 652,753,782 Mhz)?
yes. use No-Frills. and set it on boot. after reboot, it will set the frequency when it finish loading your home screen

cyanogen have many advantages over stock original firmware like you can have your mobile prerooted,
can change boot animation from cyanogenmod setting ,
can add status bar widget for quick access to data, wifi 2g/3g brightness etc. ,
can add screen on or screen off animation,
can use different types of lock screen,
enable/disable boot animation and sound,
can use 16 bit tranparency,
can set dalvik vm heap size,
can set cpu frequency,
set sdcard cache size
and the most important things
can apply themes
stock rom didnt have all these things

RC2 has additional CM settings and tweaks not available in RC1. Both are stable enough though, at least for me.
Swap in Linux (Android) is something similar to what paging file is in Windows. Some portions application memory will be reside in swap partition instead of being in RAM. You can google for more info. Anyway it's not something that you must have, so if you're still confused then no need to use swap

I'm now on Emanon V3 (2.3.5, baseband: XXKPI, build number: gingerbread.XWKS7) Can I flash cm7.2.0 RC2 now or do I have to flash gingerbread 2.3.4 back first?
Hey guys am having the same dilemma, am still on stock froyo on my sg mini and am thinking of going gingerbread for now until maybe ice cream sandwich becomes possible and stable. Am torn between going for a stock gingerbread rom and a custom rom (most probable one so far is cyanogen). My main fear with custom roms is the very many minute bugs that turn out to be quite critical that show up later when the rom gets proper testing by the masses which is why I have waited. The main points I am looking for is mainly
*improved battery perfomance for my phone
*get rid of stock apps that came with the phone such as opera 5 (since I use 6.5) and quick office etc
*increase flash capabilities on the phone such as being able to play uefa fantasy football and make suba while browsing on opera mobile. Thus eliminating the need to visit internet cyber cafes here everytime I wanna change something (yeah I love my football)
*As much improved performance when it comes to playing videos such as mkv (yeah I know its a stretch but I will take whatever perfomance I little perfomance boost I can get)
*though not such a big gamer but I would love to be able to play atleast one or two 3d games on my phone every once in a while
*ability to overclock for more performance and underclock processor for battery saving gains when the situation is appreciate such as when its in the pocket and all I need is to receive calls and messages
Is that asking too much ;p ? So with most of that in mind which btw cyanogen stock rom should I focus my attention on? which versions are most stable? Is it worth it? Are all or even some of my needs even reflux realistic hence plausible? Thank you
-just got a 32gb class 10 micro sd card for it hence I never have to worry about loosing my flash disk, just carry my cable ;p feels like christmas already

-For a stable phone i use official 2.3.4 KPI with root acces.
Pro:for official:
-Nice phone call app
-Nice contacts app
-Stable features as sound,wifi,GPS,
Minus for official:
-not many custom features
-low volume of sound
-For tons of custom features use CM7.1 RC1 original by tj_style
-themes
-widgets with quick acces to data on/off etc..
-DSP manager boost your volume.
But in CM7 usual are issue with GPS update position in real time, wifi drop after a wile from some hot-spots,radio difficult to fix.
Personaly i like by far stable 2.3.4 KPI ,but i use CM7 just because i use DSP manager for volume boost ,because i use TTS service with Ivona engine and Voice Notify to read my messages and notifications.

Thats quite an interesting comparison. how would you compare the GUI between the cyanogen rom and stock gingerbread when it comes the contacts, keypad, phone call, messaging apps? I kinda like the swype gestures in my froyo. The gps issue in cyanogen has me worried coz I use gps alot as am in a new city. Once I hook it to the car charger and dashboard mount am able to use it to guide me to drive into unfamiliar places most of the time without fear of getting lost these days so a good and accurate gps lock is essential in my phone.

I didn actually read all the stuff, no time now(maybe later).
But CyanogenMod is the best. Period.
YMMV.
Edit:
ok, only squadzone's cm7 has overclocking and undervolting possibilities...
i use swype beta, default CM UI will not be any special..the best part is the Tmobile theme chooser...so pick a theme of ur liking and done.
tons of customizations are possible...i dont think there is any prob with gps...except in tj's cm7 u need to flash a gps fix.
give it a try and u'll know.
Take your time, i will be here waiting.

[Q] Trystan34 Help

Hi there,
I am new to rooting and flashing etc
I have an LG Optimus 2X
I want to over clock my phone to 1.5GHz
I still have stock rom on froyo 2.2.2
LG-P990
Baseband 1035.21_20110614
Kernel version 2.6.32.9
Build number FRG83G
LGE Version LGP990-V10c
I have rooted with super one click.
Can someone please help me? I want to over clock to 1.5GHz and make it fast as possible. Could you please tell me step by step how to do this and what rom to use. I am currently on the stock rom. I have made a back up using rom manager. I have backed up all my apps using Titanium Backup. I may need another method for Nandroid Backup.
I heard that the update to Ginger bread was not good and has a bad camera app not like in 2.2.2. Is the rom and kernel that gives you 2.5GHz e.g. CM 7 going to be a different camera app to the one in froyo?
Thanks
Alright, luckily you have rooted so I don't have to explain that ...
First of all a titanium backup will just do fine so don't worry about that.
Second if you want to overclock you need to flash a custom overclock kernel on your phone. You can find many of those in the dev section of course. There are even custom overclock kernels for stock rom if you rather want to have stock instead of MIUI or CM.
So flashing a kernel goes as follows...
1. Download the kernel (duh.... )
2. Reboot into recovery
3. Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
4. Flash Kernel
(this will only work for you if you want to flash a custom kernel for stock roms of course)
Then your next question...
Uhm... Yeah, I think it's true that the camera app on Froyo is better than on other roms. At least that's what I've read in the many threads here on XDA.
Hope this helped

WOW!! Thanks for the fast reply!! On other sites I would wait one day for an answer!
I would like to try cm7.1 stable but I am not sure if I would like it and I have never flashed a rom so a bit nervous.
What are you running currently?
Haha, but this is not just some other site this is XDA!
Currently I'm running a CM7.2 KANG + IronKernel with vadonkas Powersave patch. You can find IronKernel in the dev section of course.
If you want to try CM then I think you should also try a. CM7.2 KANG. Those are better than just ordinary CM7.0.1. Note that if you want to try cm, you have to do a full wipe in recovery mode (wipe data, cache, dalvik) but you can always restore your data with titanium backup.
What you also could do in case everything goes wrong (I highly doubt it) is to make a total rom backup from your stock rom so you can always go back to stock. You do this by going to ROM manager and click on backup ROM. To restore the backup you go to recovery and click on restore backup.
Personally I like CM more than any other rom because it's very smooth and has a nice UI. But this of course is just a matter of taste.

Is there really a kernel thaf allows overclocking to 1.5ghz on o2x? Because I only know spica's Horse power kernel did implemented it, but because there are so few devices that can run 1.5ghz stable, it was dropped back to 1.4ghz.
In fact there are many kernels which can run 1.5 Ghz stable. For example IronKernel, VorkKernel and Swiftextreme you can find them all in the dev section.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda premium
You should precise that the above kernels are only for CM7.
On stock ROMs you can use Spica's kernels and FPS dr4go's ones.
On stock ROMs it was decided to get rid of 1.5 as depending of hardware flaws, some had great instability, and no real gain compared to 1408 MHz.
AFAIK, those speeds are not necessary for daily use... You won't gain much subjective smoothness I guess, with a good kernel at stock speed it's very snappy.
But you'll loose battery much more faster. Even 'non Tegra Zone' games are very fluid at stock speed, as most of them have been designed for monocore phones...
The only gain should be if you regularly read MKV HD films.

Oops yeah you're right
A KANG is a CM rom but then developed by some developers outside cyanogen. They use cyanogens source code and improve it to as they want. Often they put new or other things in the rom those are referred as cherry-picks. So a KANG is actually an improved CM stable ROM.

Yes. Flash the ROM in first of my previous answer (Temasek's Kang). Then grab Ironkernel in the kernel thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359307).
Vadonka : it's a script you add to any ROM you want, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310272&page=12 .... Search in posts Vadonka's signature, there are links for his script.
You should be aware that cm7 is nothing like stock LG roms. CM7 has original gingerbread looks and feel.

Hey again
IronKernel also comes with a ramhack for your phone. So 32, 64 and 96 just means the amount of extra mb ram for your phone.
However note that this ramhack also comes with a prize namely:
32 MB = no reboot possible
64 MB = 1080 p video recording and reboot doesn't work
96 MB = no reboot and no 1080 p/720 p video recording and some heavily textured 3d games might not work. Also for some reason the camera doesn't work either.
More info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359307
Second question:
It might not work, but you can always try it or just read the replies from other users. They'll inform whether it works or not. However you can assume that it works since it's a fairly recent KANG.
Third Question:
Yep, just flash it right over your IronKernel. You might want to wipe cache and Dalvik first. (at least that's what I did)
Or what you also could do is directly flash vadonkas hybrid on your phone. This contains already the latest IronKernel with patch.
Then your last question:
I'm using Go Launcher and widgetlocker too and yeah it will hide the gingerbread theme definitely if you install other themes for cm and for Go Launcher. Like for example ICS.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda premium
I don't need a ram hack.
What is ICS?
All I want to do is use a new good rom that has not bloat ware and stuff to slow it down, over clock to 1.5 and when screen is off under clock to save battery.
Now I don't want to do a ram hack since I don't know what it is or why I need it.
I am now confused. please help.
Bluetooth works since long in CM (that means a couple of month at least lol), but to test A2DP (bluetooth audio pairing to listen music on external devices) you must have... a dedicated device, and probably Temasek doesn't have one.
I don't kown anything in IronKernels, I don't use CM7 anymore.
If you want to try stock without bloat I think Gueste 2X is a good choice. I clearly think 1.5GHz OC is not a critical point to evaluate a ROM/Kernel.
What's gueste 2x??

[Q] which enhancements/modules/scripts should i use?

hello..
i am currently using primeHD v8.0 custom rom and i am on STOCK kernel..
i want to make my x8 more fast like while scrolling or app open/close etc.. , with better gaming, and more better battery life.
i have the following enhancements in my mind... i have read enough of reviews but seriously i wanted to collect them at one thread and ask about opinions..
1. primeHD v8.0
2. oc at like 710Mhz
3. v6 supercharger
4. chainfire3d with powervr plugin
5. smartass v2 cpu governor
now i came to a personal conclusion that the above 5 are certainly good and will definitely boost performance [i havent tried any of them yet except the first one obviously]
and then i see some other threads or tweaks/mods like
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1621808
2. e15 optimiser [i read t reviews.. and unfortunately it doesnt seem well]
3. jimdem droid tweak.. [this has particularly good reviews.. please take this into consideration]
now i have the following questions:
1. do i need the above mentioned 5 ? i mean all of them or some of them..
2. if i install all 5 mentioned, will there be bugs, forceclose, or any problem like rebooting .. if used TOGETHER? [exclude the overclock while answering this, as i know it depends on the hardware.. so..]
3. if anyone has installed or tested all of them please give a reply.. based on performance with games and at the same time improved battery life and day-to-day multitasking.
4. i mentioned 2 other tweaks too.. do i need them if i already installed the v6 supercharger?
5. does jimdemdroid tweak does any better thing at primehd v8.0 for PERFORMANCE and issues??
6. i know these scripts and mods involve libraries which at the system level do therir work.. how.. i dont know.. i a noob.. but anyway.. please provide a concise list of the things which are significantly good and will seriously yield!
if any better mod/tweak is available, please do share.. and remember i am on STOCK kernel with a custom rom!
does chainfire3d realy support the x8 gpu? i think not
Use Crazy home launcher, it has few features, but its the BEST for speed

Yes its support
I thank you for nothing sorry lol
-=PrimeHD=-8-=Alfs Kernel=-
chainfire3d works on x8.. as per this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1294198
..and please can someone relevantly answer all my questions??..
a lots of questionlets give a shortest. Here what i do to maximized my phone
1.stable rom-primeHD is quite stable
2.oc not more than 700-higher oc not make big diff except eat ur batt.
3.play with others cymod performance setting for best result
4.use smartassv2-balancing between batt life and performance
5.use RAM manager pro instead superchager for easy switch RAM requirement
6.use swap for more RAM
7.turn off unused funtions for more batt life only on when i need it.
8.use Titanium backup to freeze or uninstall any system apk that me dont use
God willing,ur phone will be fast, stable & have good battery life.many custom roms has build in tweak so install others will bring more harm unless u know what u doing
cheers

and swap wouldnt be possible on stock rom i suppose...

Its up to you man,
1.both of it is RAM manager but u cant install both in 1 time.I cant tell which one is good but the easy and safe one is RAM manager PRO.
2.Chainfire basically is Graphic card emulator to run games for other card.also its can reduce games quality to minimize RAM usage.so its nothing to do to boost up ur performance.use it only if u want to play certain games
3.Its Cyanogenmod setting like cpu setting, compcache RAM usage,WM head size, etc options.
in my opinion these setting is the best:
a)in cpu setting,use smartassv2 governor & set cpu below700
b)Comp RAM=26%
c)use JIT,Eneble surface,use 16bit,allow purging,lock home=ON
d)VM heap size=32
options may vary for diff.ROMS by default setting but u always can check for fully options by make shortcut for cyanogenmod setting.
long press on homescreen>shortcuts>cyanogenmod settings>Performance settings.
4.yes,some ppl says its no use to swap on stock kernel but if u on costum, believe me,its worth it
cheers

thanks a lot.. i got all my answers.. um.. actually i got a prob here... i was trying the v6 supercharger.. but i couldnt install it .. it said i had crappy version of busybox.. so i went to android market.. got busybox installer 7.9.2 [latest] and installed it... which while installing said that it couldnt correctly be installed as some old version of busybox was hindering it.. and it said to remove any version of the previous busybox... after that.. i anyway.. tried to run the v6 script through Terminal emulator.. NOTHING HAPENNED!!.. i exited terminal.. did a reboot.. what i get is a soft brick!!.. i was on primehd rom and stock kernel!
edit: i got the prob.. i used 1.20 version of busybox.. which bricked my phone.. any way i have installed ram manager pro now... and am not suffering from any problem now.. thanks !
and 1 more thing.. i couldnt find the comp ram settings anywhere.. others i have done..
npglad to help
Not sure about stock kernel.maybe stock cant support or rom itself
sometimes dev will set it to 26% by default & remove the option to prevent somebody mess up with it.not sure about primeHD.use search button to have some answer. If u couldnt find a satisfaction answer,u always can open new thread maybe some advance users or dev himself can confirm it.

thanks.. i installed the rom manager pr.. it works like a charm... but another prob arose.. i tried to do smartass v2 governor module via terminal.. with the steps written as to how to do it... it gets incorporate in the cpu settings also.. but only for sometime.. ie .. when i restart my phone.. the smartass governor is deleted.. i have to again and again do that.. i don know if ram manager is hindering with it... i have set it to balance!.. any solution??..
sorry,bro...
cant help u with this one.Never had the chance to play much on stock kernel(unlocked bootloader after 3 days bought it).If search button cant helped,I think u need a new thread.many Ppl here actually read only a title.they only step in if they got something to share.Good Luck!

How to speed up jelly bean performance?

Hi there, I have question how you guys speed up your jelly bean performance on ace?
Maybe u will tell something new for me
For example I:
* Use memory managment - zRam to max, allow purging of assets ON, kernel samepage merging ON
* Limit background processes to 2-3 (in dev options, unfortunately after every reboot that needs re-apply)
* After reboot I try to force stop every non-system app, whats running
(using task manager to see whats running)
* Using only one widget

And at this moment my task killer shows 140mb free on CM10.1 (bieltv.3, RC2 release)
Maybe you should flash Adrenaline Engine and install Seeder + Greenfy to keep ram usage to low level. The first two things I mentioned works very well on stock GB and make the phone really fast. Also you can use CAREFULLY Pimp my rom to apply mods to speed up more the rom. Be aware that you can't do that much because the phone is very not powerful and the rom is not optimized at 100% so above some level of smoothness you can't go. P.S. You can also use a swap partition or the kernel patcher Memod+Swapall.
Inviato dal mio GT-S5830
Pushing free mem into 50 or 75MB, smartassV2 or smartassH3 + sio, Greenify, replacing Launcher2 with the launcher from XperiaZ.
For swap I use Swapper 2 from Google Play.
Is it best of kind? and how good is performance?

I am sorry. I did not see your post.
Do you mean Swapper 2?
It is just an interface. You need a kernel which supports swap (like the one of the Cm 10.1 builds or erikcas' AOKP ROM). The performance depends on the kernel. The app just invokes busybox commands.
There are few apps that manage swap. If you want a simple one for swap files, use this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.azasoft.free.swapper
If you want it to have more features and/or support a swap partition (which is faster and better as it is mounted even if the phone is connected to a PC). The biggest advantage besides that is its feature to clean the swap partition when it gets full. If the app does not (like the first one), it will be lagging like hell.
So I recommend Swapper 2. :good:
However, make sure that you have a class 10 SD card. Other classes will slow down the phone. And the life of the card will be decreased due to the many read and write actions.
You can transform you rom on a Bareboned Rom to make it as fast as possible, e.i. deleting all useless apps!! instead of using apps to freeze others as Greenify, TB, AndroidTaskers... that of course is runnig in background, so the best way to stop all background processes is removing the app that produce these processes xDDD

Yes, probably one of the best methods. However, you will have to do that again for every new release.

JB is already faster than GB.
Thats enough for ace.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
lol but gb is much more stable i think.. thats why some users prefer stock roms instead latests jb roms
