[Q] HTC HD2 Android APPS2SD - HD2 Android Themes and Apps

Hi Hello,
this is my first post in this forum and I hope you will forgive me my bad english and the fact, that 2 hours of searching haven't figured out answers to my problem.
I flashed my HD2 by using this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893620
Everything worked well and I'm really impressed of the performance my HD2 now shows.
My problem:
I wish to install APPS2SD and searched quite the whole Internet for a manual to do it.
But it seems all manuals are NOT for my configuration.
Due to the flashing process there is hspl 2.08 and magdlr 1.13 installed on my phone.
When I try to get in "recovery" via magdlr it says something like "missing source".
I guess something is missing but I didnt't get it.
So please can anyone show me the way to get APPS2SD installed?
Thank you!
HagbardC

format ur sd card and try again, but make sure u followed the instructions EXACTLY how the developer says,if uve done all that, cwm and fix permission

There are many roms supporting this feature automatically when you have an SD-ext partition.you can try one of them.

Need help with Apps2SD (Running Regaw ROM)

I am currrently running Regaw Mod 2.1 and would like to have apps2sd. I have searched and searched and am confused.
I found a tutorial BUT it says it is for JF 1.5, what the heck is that? lol
(Sry cant post link as i am new member )
My SD Card is partitioned and ready to go.
I am fairly new to all of this as i just rooted my hero on monday. I know that some ROMs come with Apps2SD but after trying most of them i prefer to run Regaw's ROM.
Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Also, is it possible to change my kernel version to allow overclocking without changing my ROM?
Thanks in advance to everyone willing to help a noob.
bumpity bump bump
Hey man. Just do a search for "a2sd" and the first result should be the one you need. Follow the instructions in there to get it installed. On my hero now or else I would get you the link. Let me know if you can't find it.

Follow the instructions there.

Thanks.
I actually ended up loading fresh 2.3.3, partitioned my card, enabled apps2sd through his rom, downloaded all the apps i normally have, and then reflashed Regaw and all my apps showed up even after wipe so i think im good now.
I tend to be a little impatient so i did all of this while i was waiting on a reply lol.
I made a huge mistake of flashing fresh to my phone. Had to flash regaw twice to get it working proper again after my nightmare with fresh. It will never touch my phone again, I can promise that!

Help with G1

I was going to help my friend root his G1 and install the CyanogenMod 6.1 on it.I noticed on his G1 it said android 1.6.I was hoping someone could point me in the right directions to a link for rooting and installing the rom.So if you can link me to the newest rooting method and a link to install Cyanogen it will be appreciated.
Thanks,
eastwood
The downgrade to cupcake/one click root works for most G1 phones, but check the build in About Phone. If it's DMD64, you will probably need to create a a Gold Card (reference: the Unlockr). If you want to save time abduction hassle, check out the Gold Card Helper app in the Market. You will still need to follow the Unlockr's steps. Hang on, i'll find you some links...
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Ya, if you get the Goldcard Helper app (note that Goldcard is actually one word), you can effectively skip steps 1 to 8 in this method:
[Can't post links yet. Just google "unlockr how to create gold card"]
And no need for ADB! You will still need a PC to use that Hex editor. Are you using a mac?
After you get a goldcard, doing the normal dowgrade to 1.5 and one click root works pretty good, and there are many guides to doing that around here and on other forums.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Thanks for the help. After i get settled in from work im going to begin studying on how to create the goldcard you mentioned.
Thanks for the help,
eastwood
Let me know how it goes and if you need any help

[SIMPLE GUIDES] How to root/un-root the HTC Legend + Install ROM's [H-BOOT 1.00]

Rather than looting half of London, I spent my time giving something back to the Android Community.
I've compiled this guide on how to root the HTC Legend vodafone. It's pretty simple in my opinion and I've tried to make it as easy to use as possible. I have included a lot of images and started right from the beginning.
List of Guides:
How to root the HTC Legend [H-BOOT 1.00]
How to un-root the HTC Legend
Advice on choosing ROM's

I think I've added in all the credits, but if I haven't then please tell me. I'm also making more guides for noob Android users.
Thanks for using the guide, and if you have any suggestions, please leave a comment.
N.B. Guides have since been taken down due to newer methods of one-click rooting.

I just rooted a day before you posted and believe me this are the steps I followed...and woo..its rooted
I hope this post is made a stickied
Very nice, and lots of pics! It should help a lot of people out.
Thank you. When I tried to root my HTC Legend, I couldn't find a proper guide, so I thought I'd make one to help other people out.
Hi Thanks i just swap my iphone with htc legend from my gf and planning to root the phone. this would be my only guide, hopefully no issue will happen and i will report back. the guide looks good and simple but the only thing i find is, TOO many files needed. maybe i can combine all of them and put in 1 place to help other newbies !
but i still shock to see number of files i need to root an android ! and the files are sooo big aswell ! different from iphone, you just need a website or 1 software to jailbreak it hehehehehe - relax im an android fan boy now !
Every Android device has its own rooting method. The one of the Legend is really long; but don't worry. It's not that hard as it seems. Also this guide is really good!

Error 140 means that you need to re-create the GoldCard. Your phone must also be connected as, "Charge Only". You could also try plugging your phone in another USB port. Also check that you have AndroidSDK installed.
Added another guide with some advice on choosing ROM's. I'm also working on a simple un-root guide.

questions on roms and roots

I just got a thrill 4g cause my iPhone was messing up and was wanting to get better performance out of it, i know nothing about phones though! I downloaded a gameboy app and its talking about roms which i saw on the wiki here what they were but i don't know where to find them and what to do with them when i do.
sorry for the newb questions and thanks in advance for helping!
First off, welcome to the Android community!
Secondly, your question.
ROMs for a Gameboy application are (typically) illegally downloaded copies of games that you run through an emulator (the Gameboy application). ROMs in the phone world are custom versions of the Android operating system that are created by the community.
I can't/won't really help you with obtaining game ROMs but, if you would like to know more about custom Android software, stick around, ask questions and you might learn something new. Here's a nice little article explaining Android ROMs. http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/05/01/custom-roms-for-android-explained-and-why-you-want-them/
ok thanks, i didn't know that they would be illegal... i'll do some more reading and try to figure stuff out more.
Not a problem at all, if you have any questions, I'm sure anyone here would be glad to answer them.
ok so i found some roms but they didn't work... i'm guess i have to root it first?
Yes you have yo root and install cwm all that information is available in tge development section on this forum install and enjoy your phone the way it was meant to be

Wait do you just want gameboy roms? You dont need to root at all to do that. All you need is the gameboy emulator app, and then do a google search for what ever game you're looking for. (Ex. Pokemon red rom)

for right now yes... i had 2 of them but one ROM didn't show up when i turned on the gameboy and the other ROM showed up but it was just a black screen. I want to mod my phone to make it run better but i'm not sure i want to chance turning it into a $500 paperweight.
Well when you download a gameboy rom, you have to unzip it before you can use it. Its possible you just had a bad rom. There are dozens of different sites that have roms up. Some work some dont. Try a different one. As far as making the phone run better, you'd need to root, install clockwork, then flash a phone rom. Its all show how to do on the development forum. Just take you time and read everything first, its really pretty easy. Oh yeah one more thing remember phone roms dont unzip, gameboy Do unzip.
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA App
ok i'll check out that section, there was a question i had on a post over there but i can't remember what it is now, guess i need 10 posts before i can post there too so i couldn't ask it then. Will i lose 3D? i read somewhere that i would if i rooted my phone
You will only lose 3d on the cyanogen rom. Just rooting will do nothing to you phone, other than allow root access. All the thrill 2.2 roms have working 3d.
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA App
You won't loose 3D if you root your phone. You might loose 3D if you install a custom ROM. It depends on the custom ROM.
yeah i guess thats where my questioning is leading too, i don't exactly know what ROM is right for me. Basically i just want a phone that works, i keep losing GPS, internet and reception... is there something that helps with that? Also i've read that you can make it a WiFi hot spot with certain ROMs or is that just after rooting?
Again i apologize if this has been covered, theres a bunch of names or terms floating around here and it might as well be a foreign language to me...lol
I used the doomed rom by Urabewe. It was a great rom very fast, stable, and great battery life. Everything worked on it including 3d. I switched to the cm7 nighlys, but they dont have 3d. If you looking for a great stable rom i highly recommend the doomed rom. Btw you asked about wifi hotspot, im pretty sure every thrill rom on xda has that option included.

exactly what i was looking for! thanks man, now to pull the trigger and actually do it lol...
ok so i did this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1365876 (steps 1 through 4) followed by this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363132 but i got lost on the recovery.img thing... do i need to download it from my phone? and how do i know if it'll be put on my SD card or the internal storage?
Those are both different ways to do the same thing. Did you root your phone? You need to do that before you try to install clockwork.

i'm sorry i put the wrong first link... as far as i know it is rooted because i did 1 through 4 on this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1251663 There was a program that popped up and i clicked "root"
Have you tried to enter into clockwork yet?
Sent from my LG-P925 using XDA App
ok, i've rooted and did the clockwork recovery, i've got Rom Manager (clockwork), chainfire 3d and terminal emulator on my phone. By entering i don't know what exactly you mean but it said "flashed to clockwork" when it was done. Sorry for making you guys walk me through this holding my hand but phones aren't my thing...lol. I ended up downloading some random stuff online trying to figure out the recovery.img thing, do i do it from my phone or from my comp? i've been searching this site like crazy too but every things foreign to me

OTA ICS upgrade made my phone laggy

Hello,
I've installed the ics update of htc. Since then my phone is crazy laggy and slow. Anyone else experiencing this?
I'll probably do a factory reset, and if nothing works I ll go for custom roms. I just wanted to know if there is anything I can try before these.
Thanks!

It's best if you flash custom roms. It really unleashes the true power of the Incredible S. You see stock software from HTC isn't optimized. And when xda gods like mike1983 (i think) create roms like arhd, you will experience true power

Thanks for the answer! I'm interested in doing that, but I use only linux and I see most of root s-off stuff needs a Windows PC, and for hboot 2.02, there is no straightforward guide yet. If I find a nice guide JUST for linux (and for hboot2.02), I'll sure do it.
Cheers

Doesn't sound ok, my device became much faster and more responsive... A factory reset should help... Otherwise you could try disabling useless stuff you'd never use anyway.
Yeah, you should try the factory reset and you will slightly better than before formatting.

Flash the RUU for your phone, and then Reset it.
I did it that way and it was fast.
I ve read a bit about ruu, but it still seems to need windows machine. I would install a custom rom if I had windows. By the way, how do you find the ruu? Do you get it from HTC?

I flashed RUU but did not reset it. Most of the time phone is slow. Does factory reset after RUU really does the trick?
I am kind a sick of reinstalling my apps, because I allready did 2 resets after first OTA, downgrade to 2.3.5 and new OTA (before RUU become availible) and after that - 4.0.4 RUU. Perfomance stays the same - slow.
Disable that weird office app that came with this update, I think that may solve your problem. At least it worked for me!! I'm using Documents to go anyway so I didn't need it

Hey Guys,
I had updated my HTC Incredible S recently and found ICS was great but had major problems as phone became "laggy" and took more than 16 seconds to get back to Home Screen after hitting the Home Icon.
I did search for the solution on google and found the trick mentioned by Luckyone199 in the link as mentioned below:-
androidforums.com/htc-incredible-s/580085-all-about-ics-htc-incredible-s-ice-cream-sandwich-update-rolling-out-now.html#post4751371
And guess what.... it worked wonders!!
Just go to DEVELOPER OPTIONS under Settings and UNCHECK ''DON'T KEEP ACTIVITIES'' on bottom of the menu.
It just worked great and now my phones is ultra-fast and I able to make the best of what ICS had to offer.
It should work for other phones too. Thanks to Luckyone199. Please do try it and post back so it will be helpful for others too. Thanks Guys

Hey Buddy,
Try to keep the "Background process limit" to Standard Limit and Uncheck "DONT KEEP ACTIVITIES" and then restart your phone. Please do reply if this worked. Thanks
It's strange that some get laggy experience and some get much better performance after the ICS upgrade... My phone is blazing fast compared to gingerbread. Don't forget that Sense 3.6 is heavier... Browsing, running apps and even 3D performance have improved! In Modern Combat 3 there's a huge difference!!1
Have they improved the qualcomm drivers or is just ICS more tweaked for games & hardware acceleration???
