Do you have 3 button recovery?
If you do, dont bother installing, ROM Manager, you wont need it. Just copy the ROM and CWM's update.zip to your phone, 3 button into recovery select reinstall packages, you'll then "go back", reinstall packages again, then you reboot into recovery, and install your ROM
Where can i get that

Okay. So, you were running Paragon, you flashed Phoenix, and you want to go back to Paragon.
Hopefully you made a backup of your ROM before you flashed Phoenix. You then used Odin to flash to stock, rooted, and installed ROM manager.
If you flashed back to UCJF6 (Android 2.1) you won't be able to restore a backup based on Froyo 2.2.1, which is what Paragon is based on. That's why you're getting an error. You're going to need to do a fresh flash of Paragon. Place the base Paragon ROM on your SD card.
Use ROM Manager to flash the base Paragon ROM. Now, on the base Paragon ROM, use ROM Manager to restore your backup.
I'm hoping you did everything one should do prior to returning to stock with Odin, as in creating your backup, disabling your lagfix, etc, before using Odin to get back to stock. Also, take into account that you need to have the same kernel installed on the newly flashed ROM and the ROM you're attempting to reinstall. So, if you had a custom kernel installed when you made your backup of Paragon, make sure to flash that kernel on your newly installed base Paragon before you try to restore.
Good luck.
The sad thing is that i cant use rom manager i rooted my but it doesnt let me use clockword recovery

I'm having a problem with rom manager as well.i get the error downloading recovery. I may try to flash an older version I have on my laptop. I'm using the stock rom and rooted.

I too am having a similar problem, I'm on stock and trying to get ROM manager to work but it won't let me flash ClockworkMod Recovery or even an older version. As stated already I get the error message "An error occurred while downloading your recovery." However, it seems that if I select my phone as an i9000 Galaxy S, ClockworkMod will download, but it won't work.
And for the record, using the 3-button recovery I only get the options of:
reboot phone
reinstall packages (which says the update.zip is a bad file and won't open)
delete all user data
delete cache data
I should add that this is the first time I've seen this situation and usually I'm able to "install .zip from sd card" but in this case I can't.

My apologies. I should have read your original post a little closer.
You can try installing clockwork recovery manually via this method:
Take the attached zip file and rename it update.zip. Connect your phone via USB to your computer. You'll notice there's already an update.zip file on your phone. That's the update.zip which was used to give you root permission. Take the newly named update.zip file (clockworkmod) and replace the update.zip (root) on your phone's sd card.
Now, disconnect your phone from your computer, and power down your phone. Press the volume up AND volume down button at the same time, then hold down power. Keep holding all three buttons down. The ATT screen should pop up once, but keep holding down the buttons. The ATT screen will pop up again, and now, you can let go. This should get you to the stock recovery screen. Use your volume down button to scroll down "reinstall packages". Use the power button to select the option. This will install clockworkmod on your phone. Now, it'll come back to the same stock recovery screen. Tick down once again to "reinstall packages" until clockworkmod pops up.
I'm not sure if ROM manager will work with this version of clockworkmod, as I stopped using ROM manager a while ago. I just reboot into recovery manually and navigate clockworkmod with phone's physical buttons. I guess you can give it a go.
If this doesn't work, something might have happened with with the odin flash, or a lagfix wasn't disabled prior to going back to stock, or Dalvik cache wasn't wiped, or your cache partition wasn't wiped, etc, and you might be out of luck.
When I want to flash a ROM, I always make a backup, copy the backup onto my computer, backup my apps with Titanium Backup, copy that backup onto my computer, disable any lagfixes, flash to stock using ODIN, master clear, root, install clockworkmod, copy the new ROM zip file to my SD card, do a factory reset in clockworkmod, wipe cache partition in clockworkmod, and wipe Dalvik cache in clockworkmod, then install my new ROM.
I've never had any problems using those steps. Good luck.

Dude, ROM Manager does NOT work on Milestone. You need to flash a Vulnerable Recovery using RSD Lite, install Androidiani Open Recovery, go from there:

Thanks, dude. In the list of ClcokwordMOd, i find out there is a row for Milestone. Click on it, I also am able to download a file of Recoveries which is specific for milestone. But it does not work.
One thing I would like to raise here is that after i cannot use update.zip any more. Cuold you please explain why? It also says "cannot verify signature"
Thanks
Because your phone does not have the vulnerable recovery installed. Look at the link I posted. It has everything you need to get up and running. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

The Milestone mentioned in ROM Manager / clockworkmod is probably the Alltel Milestone, which in reality is a droid 1.
Now that you have installed cwm, you have to remove it from your phone and then install Androidiani openrecovery. Before that you need to install vulnerable recovery from here using rsdlite.
Note that it may take more than one try to get cwm out of the system.

What did you end up doing after it hung for an hour? Because if you haven't flashed a custom ROM, you should still be able to boot (rooted) and you can try the Nandroid backup again.

I take the batterry out of the phone and restart it again. It works normally but the backup is not done because i do not find out the backup under Openrecoveries folder. I did try the second time but it happed again and i had to take the battery out of the phone and restart.
please help
I actually had the same mistake as you before (using ROM Manager on our Milestone).
I recommend this:
1. Backup your SD card content
2. Reformat your SD (slow format)
3. Place the AOR 3.3 (Androidiani Open Recovery) files back in (use a fresh download if possible)
4. Perform Nandroid backup again
Note that there will be no "backup" content in your OR folder. Instead, you will see a new "nandroid" folder in your sd root.
Thanks dude. I find out the solution. I wipe all data + cache, then I download a fresh recoveries and then i did the backup again. It works well.

You should not use ROM Manager to do the backup or flash for Milestone. please use Open Recovery 3.3. Download it and please delete CWM folder also. Please wipe data/facotry reset for doing backup or flash. (IMPORTANT). It will work.
Alright, I recently factory reset my rooted and CWM'd Revolution and I was getting immediate boots into CWM recovery. I followed the steps outlined http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161537, and I was able to successfully boot to the LG screen. Here in lies the problem, it is now infinitely bootlooping... it stays on the LG screen indefinitely. I have left it lit for hours at a time, no luck. I have googled for hours and found nothing. Also, factory resets in CWM don't give a completed script, but recovery just resets and I have no idea if anything was actually erased, but I do know it still doesn't work.
So, is there anyway to save my phone?
quick recap:
1. phone is rooted and has CWM installed.
2. it is bootlooping.
please help!!!
edit: with some good camera work, I was able to capture the error string at the end of the factory reset:
E:format_volume: make_ext4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
then a rapid reboot and back to step one. The phone will then boot back into CWM, and if I reboot, it will stick on the LG screen indefinitely.

yes, verbatim.
It is as if nothing happened, no log at the bottom, it is fresh.
The reset at the end of the factory reset is normal. Can you flash anything in cwm? You may need to flash a rom to get further.

Not to thread-jack but I'm in a similar situation. I was trying to get RevRom1.4 to work. I'm rooted. I've installed that premium version of clockwork, and then installed clock work recovery. I was able to boot into CWR and get to the sd card and see revrom1.4 but it would not install. I get the error message "cannot open folder/file" something to that effect.
But I was still able to restart and go back into stock LG phone. After hours of frustration I decided to do a factory reset from the lg settings menu. My phone restarted, the LG logo comes up and then it goes to clock work recovery. I can't get out of it, and restarting it simply brings back up CWR.
I found the fix from thecubed about clockwork exit fix. But I have yet to try it (at school). Is this the way to go? Why won't it let me install roms from clockwork recovery?
Being a noob, I have no backups. Please help me!

Run the xip you saw that cubed posted that should fix you. Idk I never ran into that situation myself so I can't promise anything.
And side kick: Just do a full restore even if its from like your first backup. The restore will give you your boot image and everything back hopefully allowing the phone to finish the boot process. After it boots go back to CWR and do a data wipe then flash 1.4. Reboot and set the phone up. Should work fine. Hope this helps.

That CWM is not correct for our phone you need to use thecubed's CWM, it can be installed from the Revo_toolkit.
The exitrecovery.zip file should get you out of recovery. Then download the Revo_toolkit and install the correct version of CWM. After that you should be able to successfully install zip files and perform backup/recovery.

I did use Rev_Toolkit to install clockwork recovery. It is version v4.0.0.2.

I was running Ginervolt 2.0 on ZV7. I chose to install the Stock ZV8 rom using LGNPST. It eventually installed ok. Afterward it successfully installed the ZV9 Rom from the Big Red Mothership. I used @dexter35803 's VZ8/9 Root utility to root the rom and it worked. SU is installed and is allowing root access to cachemate and RomManager. However, I am not able to install Clockwork Mod.
I used Easy V8 to install CWM. it reported access denied.
I tried to install CWM using the one click method and it reported access denied errors.
My attempt to confirm CWM recovery was to use
Code:
ADB Reboot Recovery
from the command prompt to force it to boot into recovery.
That resulted in the LG Boot logo, followed by a black screen.
I used the PWR + VOL Down button to gain access to CWM, it proceded to wipe the user data like the stock recovery,
Lastly I used RomManager to install Clockwork. It succeeded in gaining root access via SU, and proceed to reboot. Now it's Stuck @ the LG Boot logo.
After waiting 5 minutes I pulled the battery. Now if I use PWR + vol down, it will wipe the user data, but again hang at the LG boot Logo.
What should I do?

use root explorer and go into system/etc/ and delete the file called install-recovery.sh
The reason why you aren't getting clockwork recovery to work is because the install-recovery.sh is a shell script designed to over write any recovery back to stock recovery on each boot. So when you run the cwr tools and the phone reboots the script immediately erases what you just did. So deleting this file before you run the tool will allow the tool to install a perminant cwr
then run V8 all in one root plus cwr here https://www.dropbox.com/s/l1090uvf1iw3jux/V8%20All%20In%20One%20-%20Root%20and%20CWM.zip
and choose install root and cwr options and viola
+1 on removing the script.
But before all that your going to need to flash the v8.tot in emergency download mode, use the test mode fix, update, use the v8 aio, and hope you have a nice day. if cwm doesn't stick then try removing the script described above and rerunning the aio smile and have a brewski for your time and trouble.

You should really read his second to last little paragraph. He used Rom Manager to install CWM when it's not supported for the phone. So now he'd have to install ZV8 through LGNPST to have a working phone again. Also, This should really be in General instead of Development.
Where should I start?
With the Phone @ the LG Boot Logo screen, the LGNPST windows application will not recognize the phone nor will ADB.
Update, found something
1. pull battery
2. pull USB
3. hold [PWR] + [vol Up]
4. Plug in USB
5. Wait for display to flash and read "Downloads in progress. Do not Disconnect cable. "
But this only lets me update the phonebook, not flash a rom or use ADB. what now?
When you select the phonebook file to flash, use the instructions on selecting the v8.tot. It'll flash everything, not just the phonebook.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't cwm not available for v9? So going higher than v8 is useless until the way to install cwm is figured out, besides I don't remember seeing any posting that there said that there is a custom ROM for v9 yet.

test mode fix
I found the thread on
Code:
[URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26737282#post26737282"]Test Mode Fix[/URL]
But it just crashes in XP native. Any thoughts? I have installed DotNet 3.5 Framework, but that doesn't seem to work.
Well, I found the zv4 TOT rom that I could download from. (most of them now only let the owner re-download.)
I flashed it with LGNPST. So with this FroYo rom, it no longer reported to be in Test Mode, when plugging in a USB cable. However, it also would not update through
Code:
Settings Menu --> About Phone --> Software Update --> Check New.
I used LGNPST again to flash the ZV7 rom over ZV4. However the phone again reports being it test mode @ startup and when plugging in to a PC.
I hope the VZW store can fix this, i am all out of ideas.
I would try the test mode fix on another computer first. Test mode is an obvious sign you did something you weren't supposed to do
You may have to run it a couple of times for it to fix test mode. You'll know when it works, after reboot you will see USB icons in the notification bar.

I formatted my system files using Cwm Recovery now I have no way of getting my phone back even no them crappy files are still there lol.
Problem is that I have no way of getting to a computer. And I got rid of mine as it was on finance.
All I have is my phone with cwm recovery installed, a Rom and a zip kernel I think. No backups nothing.
Also I have use of a kindle fire and ps3 if helpful. And another z1 uprooted which is my missiles which can download files and transfer using my ad card but she doesn't want hers broken haha.
Anybody think they can help relive my phone for me?
Thanks
Download a Rom compatible to your phone to the sd card using the other phone, pop it in, boot to recovery, flash zip, restart, boom all set
Sent from my SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
Which rom and kernel would you advise me to go for considering I do not have access to a computer so no flash tool available.
I used to have just stock stuff. I tried ihackers but can't even use that!
I'm on 4.3
And that firmware that's ends in .290. Can't remember the rest.
The rom and kernel I have on my device isn't compatible I don't think, that's why it didn't work wen I tried
I would go as simple as possible untill you get it to boot. If you have .290 stock kernel with recovery I would try one of [NUT]'s roms. Find your model here and down load the .290 flashable version and try that http://nut.xperia-files.com/
A Z1 user may have another idea?
When you get your phone back on you could try a megawipe.zip which I used to use on the Galaxy S3, no idea if it's still supported or if it'll work on the Z1, but I can't see any reason why not, bare in mind it'll delete everything on your internal memory so get ready to sideload, push or get another rom on there afterwards, if youre able to install from an SD card then do it that way (the rom i mean, megawipe has to be on the internal)
Those files youre referring to will not be there when megawipe has finished.
