I ask the question because last week I finally got sick of waiting for Samsung to release Gingerbread for the GT in the UK and followed the instructions to install it myself.
I was gald I did it but a couple of days ago Samsung obviously released it officially.
Are there any differences or any reasons why I should go to the UK official release?
+1

What number is the UK rom? JQ1 is Italian, JP4 is Spain.

Can someone give me a simple answer?
I'm getting a little confused with all those releases, all with codes starting with JP, AFAIK they are beta, not official release codes.
What happened to all that fuss about the official release date, mid November, etc?
We are in December already.
Thanks,
Paulo
The JP versions are official. Why do you think they are not?
Depending on your product code, they have been available via KIES for some time now.
Depends on the region, I'm living in India & I have got an official update via kies. If it shows up on kies than its official dude....
If this Froyo versions we're getting from Kies are the final versions than this is a big shame for Samsung. This ROMs just sucks and they are laggy as hell. The Samsung dev guys should come to XDA foruns and learn about Galaxy S ROMs... What a waste of a good piece of hardware... Shame on you Samsung!

Had to update my Kies to get the Froyo update! Legit 2.2, Optus Australia.
Since I'd rather not spend time with Odin (kinda chicken!?) I'd rather only update the firmware using what Kies provides...and here is the issue..
The last available firmware through Kies is the 2.2 dating back to october...have any other Norwegian Telenor customers been able to get newer firmwares using Kies...or must I do what so many others do and go for Odin if I'd like the latest versions?
Im returning my sgs due to the faulty gps and exchange support.
I have a nordic generic sgs. And the latest fw is the onw from october. Were told by a samsung rep that a new release were due at xmas. But havent seen it yet. If you are going to flash through odin. I would recommend Darkys ROM.

Last I heard, from a swedish forum, was that the nordic version will be released before march.
So we should expect it in january-february.
Hi all, posting this on behalf of a mate.
I will quote what he has asked me and if any of you clever lot can answer this I and he would be most grateful.
I bought a Galaxy tab 8.9 from expansys a few months ago & they sent the French version. Firmware & lots of aps were French but most of it was crap anyway.
I've been waiting for the ics firmware update but I'm wondering if it'll just update the file to a French one? Any ideas?
Even better I think there's a jellybean rom for the 7310 which is probably better but I haven't got a clue how to flash it?

It's a P7310 running android 3.2
Any and all help appreciated on this one folks
Cheers in advance.
All the answer is in development section
got the exact same model from expansys with the french rom. updated it to the uk rom no probs n then took the plunge and installed the us version of ics and again it worked no problem so in short flash away
Upgrade to ICS
Thanks to suwandiapr & nirogu325, I could not thank them in development section due to less than 10 posts.
I have upgraded to ICS 4.0.4 of USA (Stock) from HC 3.2 of Switzerland (AUT). I have read about screen issues affecting the people who have upgraded to ICS from HC, especially tab with firmware region of AUT (Switzerland). So I flashed to USA Version of HC 3.2 and then Kies automatcially upgraded to ICS 4.0.4. I am really happy and no problem with screen.:victory:

My phone was on LRK but I'm from the UK
Mine was From Italia, i changed to LRK because Germany always gets the updates first (at least for note, or at least the last 3 major updates) and I'm from Venezuela..
I see no point on changing roms to brasil or any south American carrier.. They get the updates months after the official its released...

There is no official jb out yet, we're still waiting. There are leaked source jb roms which are as close to stock as possible like lsa or lsc but they still have bugs.

Btw, official jb is likely to be released soon, like within a month unless Samsung do as they did with ics and run over again, but judging by the leaks, that's doubtful I'd say.

Samsung promised JB to February?
That's good..
They have not promised anything whatsoever.

Hi all.
I have recently moved to Australia and i have taken my Gnote with me. I works on all the networks fine and im looking to flash it with Jellybean from ICS.
Is there anything i should know about doing this like.. radios and compatibility etc.. or can i just pick and choose something i like and flash it?
ALSO,
If i was to flash it with the official firmware just to take it back to stock, would it matter if i did this with a Australia version if its different? or would i have to do this with the UK firmware.
Any help would be great!
(spelling mistake in title Note not 'not')
I have a French note that I use in Australia. So far the best JB radio/modem I've found is XXLSO and I've tried several.

I've done the same as you - from London to sydney two weeks ago. No complaints, no changes, nothing. Just a new sim and go! Using an international Note mind

Im from Australia and so is Sweet ROM yet is made from latest international firmware and used by people all over the world. My device is an international version originally with German firmware many moons ago.
In short, it doesn't matter mate
