How to Link installed apps with Market? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello friends!
I updated my cell from froyo to Gingerbread as then restored all my apps with help of Titanium backup pro. Problem is that now all my apps some how got unlinked with the Market and when I go to my apps in Market, none of my apps are shown in the list. Because of this I dont come to know if there are any updates available for any of my installed apps.
Is there any way to link them back with Market without installing them all over again.
Thankyou.

Try going to settings>application>manage applications and clearing data/cache or whatever it lets you clear of the market app.

Go to titanium backup>options> more>market doctor.. Since you are on pro titanium backup you can use market doctor..

@EPHRAIM033 Does that mean I can link a app downloaded via .apk to the market? And, yes, the app is also in the market..Can I do it or no?

this worked only once.. later again those apps lost the links i think.. they are not appearing in 'my apps' on market!!!!!!!!!

what worked for me was to re download the app from the market on wifi. it will error out with the message already installed then will show up as installed in google play.
An easy way of pushing the apps to the phone is to log onto googleplay web site reselect the app and select install.

Of course you can. But if the linked app is a cracked paid one(ore a free app from an other market eg getjar wich is free there) the market will show it in my apps but it won't let you update it... If the app is avaiable for free in the market and you donwloaded it else where there are no problems with linking and updating it..(and no i dont have illegal apps i know it cause the "gold apps" from getjar are not updatable after linking them to the market, it'll show you a message that you didn't purchase the app..)

[Q] Best way to back up?

I flash a lot. I'm getting sick of manually reinstalling apps. I used mybackup pro but it seems like it would forget apps. Right now I'm using AppBrain. Is there any way to back up all apps then reinstall them from the back up and have them run like nothing ever happened?
android should install them automatically once you link your phone with your google account. Other then that not that I know of, unless you move all apps to sdcard.
I think it only does that on the stock rom.
nope, did it for CM6 and Enomthers rom (sorry i cant remember how to spell it)

I think there is a way to use your AppBrain account to restore all of your apps onto a new phone... no data, though.
I think most phone solutions (TiBU for example) require root to backup your applications.
But.. if you had Froyo the market remembers the apps you downloaded and you could've re-downloaded from the market
Of course... you would then have to root/download a leaked Froyo ROM that didn't currently toast your Android ID.
...... shoot just check out app-brain - if that doesn't work I think you'll be hosed.. just write down what apps you downloaded and re-download when you get your new phone.
Thanks for the advise...I'll try

have you tried MyBackup Pro from the market?? its $4 i believe and you can backup w/o having root, although if you do decide to root it has more advanced backup features

[Q] Anyway to "link" and apk installed app to the market ?

Kind of a weird question but if I install an application from an apk, how can I "link it" so it shows as installed in the market and get auto updates?
I am planning to flash my rom and i have d/l quite a few apps that I want to avoid d/l again (internet not so good in our part of the world) so just using apk to install would be much faster
thanks
Titanium Backup can recreate market links. It's called "Attach to Market (forced)". I don't know if the free version can do it or if it's only the pro version, but either way, it's a really great app and totally worth the money if you go for the pro version. It does require root, though.
Market will make the links automatically as soon you login.
Be aware that some apk's you collected can be incompatible with particular device.

thank you both for the quick reply
I do have titanium backup free I will check this
Deaad you mean there is nothing to do ? all apps are taken from my current ROM (Stock) running on the note
I think that I missed your question.
If you need to flash a rom make a CWM backup first in case of emergency.
In case you need to wipe first than you need also a titanium backup.

What should I do?

Wow! Thanks for the solution! Now i have Youtube app back in my app list!
Still wonder why Titanium Backup done this only to this app, and how did you know this? HAHA
I'm not sure who's responsible for that. It could be Ginger DX.
Anyway, I found that while randomly browsing TB. I have also another app frozen, not only on GDX but in other ROMs too. It's "Market apps installer" with the cyanogenmod icon.

Actually it's not (same as the Market Apps Installer being talked about below your post). If you take a close look there's not a single script anywhere to freeze any of these two apps, nor is there any hack in the system.
Also, YouTube.apk is in /system/app if you look - so if you installed / upgraded correctly (flash, full-wipe) there are no problems and the YouTube app will also show in the app drawer.
I said it could be GDX but I highly doubted it. But what about market apps installer? I have found it frozen in every recent ROM I've tried.

For some odd reason Titanium does NOT show me any frozen apps.
I had the same problem, unfreezed the app and the search doesn't work on the app.
