If you use a Honeycomb ROM on your GTablet, you would have noticed that the bottom status bar in Honeycomb is persistent and no app seems to be able to get rid of it. Well, this is a feature of Honeycomb which allows you to use a device without hardware button for function like "Back", "Home", "Menu", etc.
For many users, this "persistent status bar may not be a problem. But if you feel like that status bar is "cramping your style" (perhaps you have a movie scaled perfectly for the GTablet and you want to watch it in it's full screen glory) and you know that the GTablet hardware buttons gets you where you want to go, you now have a way to getting rid of that status bar.
dima_tr @ TabletRoms has developed a small app which toggles (show/hide) the Honeycomb status bar at will. He has shared this app along with the source code at TabletRoms (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=App-to-toggle-Statusbar-in-Honeycomb-works). I have merely mirrored his work here in an attempt to share this with the community here at XDA.
Once installed, this app does not create any icon in the launcher. To use this app, you have the long-press the "Search" button". Upon doing so, you will see a pop-up with a list of apps with "Statusbar Toggle" as one of the apps (see the first screenshot below for an example). Selecting Statusbar Toggle will toggle on/off the status bar. You may choose the make this the default action for the Search button long-press action.
As of Flashback Alpha 7.1, this app is included in the ROM update zip.
IMPORTANT:
Please note that this app requires "root" permissions since it does something which is not exposed by the "official Honeycomb API" (i.e., it is not something Honeycomb ROMs allow developers to control).
This is a Honeycomb specific app and will not work on other versions of Android.
I take no credit for this app. All credit goes to dima_tr @ TabletRoms.
Though I have personally tested and used the app on Flashback 7.0 and GTabComb 3.3, I (or the developer) take no responsibility in the unlikely event that your GTablet blows up and wipes you clean off the face of the earth. Use at your own risk. Have fun!!

SCREENSHOT [Honeycomb Without status bar]
Works like a champ, thanks for the heads up
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I am posting this from my GtabComb 3.3 with 1024x27 extra pixels...
Brilliant, +1 for the link.
Thanks
I am on Flashback 7.1 and it works the first time, but after that it brings up a blackscreen with StatusBarToggle across the top, and the statusbar at the bottom. I am not locked but have to hit home to get out of it and the statusbar is always there. As I said it is gone the first time, and if I go in to settings and applications and clear the default settings it works the first time again.
yes! this is something i've been on the lookout for. thanks.
Sweet!

yup. its in all nexus s's also, power control widget. its just modified in cm to include more features
there are paid apps $0.99 that can do that as well
as i recall Switch PRO (forgot correct name) have the option to attach itself to the status screen

Stock Android 2.3.1 (which Nexus S) uses doesn't have that.
PS. Is it really necessary to write in bold/red/italics? Man it was annoying having to edit the quote to remove all that.
my work around is to stick the Power Control widget on a screen of my choice
it's included with stock Android
but there is no option to attach it to the status screen

Yeah, that's what I thought
to above user, i loove to use different fonts/color/size.
well, i was looking for the powercontrol for the statusbar, as the statusbar is accesible everywhere, when desktop is not, as i recall

Again, CM has the setting to change the colors and the items in the status bar power widget
Widgetsoid does a great job at a power control widget and it is free.

I've missed this from my Galaxy S too, but the best work around I've found is Quick Settings - search on appbrain (cant post links as I'm 'new') and configure it to display in the notification shade, but to hide the icon in the notification bar.
If there is another solution to properly get buttons as on the Galaxy S ROMs (other than the often suggested - "flash CM7") I'd love to hear of it though. I know the notification shade can't be edited by a simple .apk, but this isn't the first time I've seen this request and would have thought it really ought to be possible somehow without delving into the deepest darkest recesses of the android system -but of course I am probably wrong
Yet the newest version 5 has many bugs on our Droid. The suggestion bar will not show in a browser. The resizer disappears after using. The newest version erases the backup when you reset to defaults while not so with version 2.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aitype.android
Update v2204 is attached.
I just tried all day & 100% indeed. Nearly anyway, I can't get the personal shortcuts to work. The current Play emoji plugin works.
The resizer works even in a browser.
Makes me question what happened with development after v2. Lollipop is a good guess.
Installing F-Droid & keep the app chooser "open" letting you choose F-droid or Play. Then just touch the screen to kill the app of the day.
Be mindful of the cut button in the middle of the 3 mode bar. It will clear a long comment with an inadvertent touch. There is an undo in the utilities button.
Bugs
Also "expand the textbox" kills the suggestion bar.
Sometimes the suggestion bar hides & you must close the KB with the back Navigation key & reopen by touching the input field.
The ”make it my own"/urban experience (lol WTF is that) is neat to get the popup & key pressed color to linger- I always thought to popup went way too fast & still does with this mod but lingering key color is better than the popup. Trouble is with all these screen mods it is easy to out-type our processor. Edit disabled the popup completely-just the key fade is better.
I have attached this popup-less settings backup with some other mods.
I included my backup settings to put in Android/data.

In Play store there are poor reviews for the new version (good reviews for this version) on our phone! On most phones the reviews are poor for the newer versions.
This top row has a 3 mode button for numbers, special characters or editing-a delete key & much more. As mentioned above the cut key can be a disaster at times but I have saved my posts with undo key from the 3way button.
Click on ai.type.zip.txt & copy Mega link to download.
Install but do not launch/open.
Don't bother with setup helper by launching the app after install. Next go settings/ language & input, enable the app, put the backup in sd-android/data, Go to settings, language & input, settings, prediction, restore data.
You need to disable (settings/app/) the stock keyboard & reboot too.
Download F-droid from Play, to stop the app of the day nag.
Do not select a default. Do nothing, just tap the KB to clear.
This is still my fav KB, the copy, paste & other editing buttons being right on the top row is nice when the auto appearing ones won't show themselves.
Peace friends! ! !

I've been very busy with my android desktop and was a big rush to get my supplies LauncherAdvanced, unique thread of my development HERE
I would like to clarify that I have compiled this launcher for a long time, then the android trendy JB was 4.2, I had to make some optimizations so that it can get better at 4.4 and 5.1 (maybe in the future 6.0).
The purpose of the launcher is the same as I always have in mind, do not like and have never liked large packages and applications do not like too much RAM consumption, thinking that I developed this launcher, it is a typical size coming from ADW sources @AnderWeb (Thanks).
Their characteristics are very clear, see below:
Desktop settings
Set icons and wallpaper
Set style dock bar
You can set colors and transparencies in the apps grid
you can create folders and name them
Speed to open the apps grid
Animations, themes etc ..
You can also back up and restore it if you want to save your settings
Known bugs:
At the moment he does not have a transparent status bar (I will fix this)
By using wallpaper is a blur in the dock bar (only the launcher wallpapers, you can use other without problems)
Some other?
It is fully in the development of state and I will appreciate if you understand java and can help me with corrections, so I'll leave my sources available on GitHub
DOWNLOAD HERE
To install:
Download the latest launcher
Pass to your SD
Install usually how to install an apk SD
enjoy
Hi dev I'm using this launcher from past 3 days, really I'm loving it.
I got every thing which I want like ,
It's light weight.
Smooth
I can set it to full screen by hiding status bar.
Specially the short cut icon sick at the bottom ( I really loved the concept).
But after using it I felt like I'm using kitkat launcher in my One plus one (5.1 lollipop).
And their is no smooth scrolling.
Their is a problem with animation.
I'm not getting the widgets properly like my cm weather widget unable to display weather only time and date .
Each icon using more space then the actual size.
I'm unable to increase the size of icons .
Old type widget and shortcut section menu etc .
But I'm still using it coz I'm loving it.
Hope you ll update it soon with latest standards.
Thank you dev
Since this queston isnt' a simple one, I have moved it away from the "Noob" Thread
Anyone try to swap the navbar to the Samsung way?
I am a long time Note user and after two years still can't get used to the back button on the left. I have tried to get to system ui tuner by holding down the settings "cog". It doesn't even try to spin after 20 of long press.
It's running fire os 5.4.0.1. I have been able to get the Google framework and play store on it with APKs from another device.
Just to add clarification to my post, I have searched this thread for the list below and nothing useful has come up.
-nav
-navbar
-nav bar
-nav swap
-swap
-nav button
The only result was a post that talks about nav buttons with Xposed installed. My device is not rooted.

This post will be updated with apps and procedures that I have tried
- Softkeys - home back button from the play store.
It's nice this puts a second nav button bar on top of the FireOS nav bar. If this is the only way to give me access to a right-hand back button. then it will work. However my aim to to emulate the Samsung nav bar.
Here's what it looks like.

- rooted devices can use a Xposed Framework module (eg: gravitybox) to add, delete, rearrange and/or redefine navbar buttons
- aside from the 'home' (center) button navbar buttons can not be changed on unrooted devices
- navbar overlays exist but have various shortcomings that may or may not be significant depending on app suite
Thank you for that clarification.

I've been using the Mate 20 for the past 24hours, being first time Huawei/EMUI user, there are some weird experiences going on.
1. Bug - App switcher:
Open recent apps, I'm not able to switch apps by clicking the partially visible adjacent apps (will go to home screen)
The only way to switch apps is by scrolling to the desired app and make sure it shows at the middle of the screen, then click it.
2. Navigation Bar Experience - EMUI? Android 9? :
The navigation keys' positioning is kinda bad. The icons are too packed at the middle of the screen, instead they should be placed more evenly, and the clickable areas should be widen. (I drawn an image below to better explain this)
I'm not sure this is an EMUI thing or Android Pie thing? How to make a suggestion to Huawei?

I agree, the current nav button setup is stupid.
Hope they fix this issue. Until then I'm using Fluidng.

It's controlled by Huawei, btw it's shifted like that because there's a "rotate" button that appears on the nav bar when you tilt your phone and auto rotate is off, you can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWOp1b-5thQ

I see. But that is rarely used. It shouldn't affect the main navigation keys that are the basic function of a phone.
