[Q] Low memory, can only install a few apps - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Ive searched all over the Xperia X1 forum without any answer.
Ive recently installed Android on my phone and i love it, especially android market.
My problem:
After installing like 5-6 apps from the market I get low on internal memory. How do I solve this? I know about Apps2Sd, but not all apps can be placed to sd card.
Is this my because of my internal phone memory or is it because my ext2 cache, data, system partitions are set to low storage?
How do you guys get through this problem?
Answers would be much appreciated, sorry if this already has been brought up.

as long as there's no nand-flash for x1, internal memory is not used nor recognized by android.
those 3 partitions on sd-card are seen as internal memory by android.
so, your second guess is the right one - increase the size of your ext2-partition. ("data", to be precise)

Thanks it worked!

a2sd and phone memory HELP!!!

Hi everyone,
I have a sprint hero and I am using Fresh rom 2.0d... I am also using a2sd.
The Problem:
When I first flashed and had no apps installed my Phone memory read 101mb and I partitioned my 2gb memory card as: 1gb fat32, 800.8mb ext3, and 95.5mb swap.
I installed more than 71 apps and then the a2sd memory was 657.9mb (out of 800.8) {so we know that a2sd is working}, but my phone memory had lower to 49.4mb and decreasing even if i dont install any apps.
The Question?:
Can anyone tell me what is going on with my phone and phone memory? Is it normal that my phone memory has to be decreasing even if I am using a2sd or even if i dont install any apps?
Thank you so much community
p.s. I am a noob!!!!!
49 is pretty low, try clearing cache on the Browser and Market. Settings>applications>manage applications. Sort by size and clear cache on the Browser, market and albums. Also any application data is stored on the phones memory and not the sd card.
Now I have 61. All my cache is on my sdcard.... but I did deleted all cache and it cleared 5mb.
So you mean that all my apps are storing their information on my phone memory's and not on the partition of the sd card where they are installed?
thanks

Running Cyan's 4.2.15.1. - Apps installing to phone Memory

Hello Everyone, I was hoping someone could tell me if there was a quick fix or if I need to do a reinstall & add something that I didn't add.
I noticed today, my phone telling me it is running low on space & when I checked, it said I only had 9 megs left on the phone memory, however it did show I still had 465 megs on the secondary sd memory free.
I decided to try & install an app to see if the sd memory would go down or the phone memory. Well, the phone memory went down, but not the sd secondary.
I'm looking at the storage & unmount sd card & format sd card are "grayed out"
I also do have a \system\apps folder with some apps, along with the same one under \sd card\system\apps which that also has some apps.
Is there something I can do that can fix this? Or something else I need to check?
The only thing that I didn't do originally was create a swap partition.
Thanks
i believe if u reboot your phone all apps get thrown into ext partition. also try using cachemate , that will free up tons of space on your phone

If you want to have your apps on your sd card then you need an ext partition. You cannot currently house your apps on your sdcard.

any help here ? same question
I'd like to know this too
Hey,
I've looked through the forums but don't seem to find a definite answer. I have a rooted (with towelroot) Xperia V, with latest official nordic update.
So as we know, the big problem with Xperia V is that no matter how big external SD card you have, you cannot install APK's on it, making you run out of space real quick. The 2GB internal extended memory shows as "SD Card" to most software and the installers. Also, many apps don't let you explicitly define the location for file saves, so the 2GB will be used for caching etc on many occasions. Moving software to "SD card" in app settings as you would normally do on Android actually just moves between the internal extended memory and phone memory, but not the actual SD card.
I want to install my APK's on the SD card, and only keep minimum stuff on the internal 2GB. How do I do this? Can I make the phone not use the 2GB and instead use the 32 gig SD card I have in my phone? Can I somehow move the already installed apps to the actual SD card as well, or do I have to reinstall them?

Increasing internal memory of your Android One device.

Hello guys,
So i recently shifted to Android One device last week, and i was wondering due to its limited internal memory support we cant install much of apps & games on our Android One devices. Also transferring apps2SD card has a limited support.
So is there any sure shot way to increase that internal memory? Coz i'm trying to partition my SD card through TWRP recovery but its getting failed every-time. Any other solutions?
Any help would be appreciated plus it will help the other community members who are having same problems & doubts

[XT1073] How do I get more space for apps?

Hi there!
I got the newest CM 13 nightly, but the problem is, that even with the new option to make room for apps on SD card, it doesn't work as advertised-the apps still install on internal space instead of the SD card, some even can't be moved to SD.
My question is, how do I move the whole partition where apps install to SD? I don't want half-baked solutions that break some apps because they're a application-layer-level hack. A how-to explaining how to move whole system to SD would also be appreciated, or how to expand the application partition to eat up some more internal space.
Before posting some questions, some regular answers:
-my SD is a very good 32GB pro+ samsung card, it's speed is comparable to internal mmc.
-you can tell me WTF straight and in depth, I'm a dev myself.
Thanks in advance for yar responses
