Hi, I was trying to make the backup of my DS 7 wifi stock using ClockworkMod Recovery. After that I try to restore it, but after restore it stucks(Loop) at ClockworkMod Recovery. It's not working! Moreover, I can't change it to fastboot, can you please help me resolve it! Is there any way I can change it to fastboot.
I highly appreciate your help!

Got answere!
mount all the things you can in the ClockworkMod Recovery,
Go to cmd in windows,
c:\ cd android-sdk/platform-tools/
type these in adb shell
flash_image /dev/block/mmcblk3p2 /sdcard/boot_orig.img
flash_image /dev/block/mmcblk3p1 /sdcard/recovery_orig.img
select reboot from the recovery. now it will reboot and it will format misc and it will reboot again. NOW the device will load the os!!!
now that you are here, i also suggest to go to fastboot again and to flash all over again in this order:
flash system
flash recovery
flash boot

If you are getting failed with error:-1:Make sure: you mount internal sdcard from ClockworkMod Recovery> to copy files downloaded from here!
recovery: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/23637011/recovery_orig.img
boot:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/23637011/boot_orig.img

somehow i screwed up my recovery. i'm running ads-magpie with no problems. I need to get my recovery working again. either amon-ra or clockwork. in adb shell i type: flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-dream-v1.7.0.img It says /system/bin/sh: flash_image: not found
please help
if you are able to boot into the phone then go into your terminal app and then type:
su
mount /sdcard
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-dream-v1.7.0.img
and you're good to go...
still doesn't work?
then flash the recovery using a fastboot zip

Can you get into fastboot (hold down the camera button when you restart)? If so, then flash recovery image from there.
Open command prompt in directory where you have recovery image stored. Command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-dream-v1.7.0.img
yes but hopefully he has fastboot set up. if not then i'm sure we can walk you through or forward you to a tut on how to do so
I got it working, truth be told I don't how. I tried a command string that previously didn't work. It responded out if memory, twice. For kicks I tried boot into recovery and low and behold clockworkmod. thanks guys.
no problem anytime
I have an MTS CDMA HTC Hero, and I'm un able to put a custom recovery image on. I went into that HBOOT menu and at the top it says "S-ON" and I was reading that it needs to say "S-OFF" in order for me to put a custom recovery like Clockwork Mod onto it. My phone is rooted, I used z4root. I have no idea how to put the custom recovery on. And I cannot find the free version of ROM Manager in the market, and I tried the appbrain method and putting the .apk on my sd card method and nothing is working
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks!

Our phone does not require S-OFF to flash a custom recovery. When I get to a computer I'll upload a recovery.img for you to download. Until then download Terminal Emulator and Busybox Installer. With Busybox Installer open it and install busybox

there should be aman ra or an older recovery in the wiki
Whenever I put my hero into recovery mode I also get this red exclamation mark with a phone beside it. Is that because I don't have a custom recovery installed on the phone or?
And I'm also not too sure how to install a custom recovery on the phone.
Flash recovery using: ADB
NOTE: This method will work while you are booting into the current recovery on the phone.
1.Download the ClockworkMod Recovery: HeroC
2.Copy the recovery.img to root of the SD card.
3.Boot the phone into recovery.
4.Open command prompt, cd to the Android SDK directory & type the following commands:
adb shell
mount /sdcard
flash_image recovery /sdcard/"name of recovery".img
reboot recovery
5.Your phone should now reboot into the ClockworkMod Recovery (orange text for 3.0+).
Flash recovery using: Terminal Emulator Note: Requires s-off, otherwise you'll recieve "out of memory" errors.
1.Download the ClockworkMod Recovery: HeroC Download Optimus V Download.
2.Move recovery.img to root of the SD card.
3.Open the Terminal Emulator on the phone & type the following commands:
4.:
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/"name of recovery".img
reboot recovery
5.The phone should now reboot into the ClockworkMod Recovery (orange text for 3.0+).
Whenever I type in the first code I get "error: device not found" and I have my phone in recovery mode
do you have android sdk installed on your computer, if no , install it. if yes, open a command prompt and type,
cd C:\android-sdk-windows\tools
next type:
adb devices
it should list your device
next type:
adb shell
you should get a # sign
then procede from there
or try the terminal emulator method,,,much easier. you can get "terminal emulator " from android market...good luck
whenever I change my directory to the tools folder ADB doesn't work, but when I change it to the "Platform-Tools" folder ADB works.
Sorry for being such a pain-in-the-butt, but I'm new to this whole rooting stuff.
What's the terminal emulator method?
I was trying to do this method
"Type in the following commands:
adb push recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.7-heroc.img /sdcard/recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.7-heroc.img
adb shell
su
cd /sdcard/
flash_image recovery recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.7-heroc.img
reboot recovery"
but that doesn't seem to be working for me either, that's where I get the "Flash_Image: not found" error
hi.
I got a HTC sensation xl that not boot and adcard not accessible in recovery.

by searching in the web i thing problem come from kernel or memory partitions ...
my solutions ::
1. flashing kernel and test the mounting.*
2. flashing full .RUU rom.
3. partitioning memory by built-in shell programs.
I update the recovery, after that i flash kernel(from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1920274) by adb sideload recovery dose not boot and restart!!

[Emergency Guide] How to Blank or regenerate Watch (WA 5.01) after clearing \system
Prerequisit :
Be sure to have latest adb (1.0.32) and fastboot version. Download it from here
Link to know how to enter into fastboot
Under Fastboot
Download boot from here
Code:
- fastboot flash boot bootll.img
Download TWRP recovery from here
Code:
- fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Go to Recovery and format all twice with TWRP recovery
Flashing back stock recovery :
Download stock recovery from here
Code:
- fastboot flash recovery recoverll.img
Back to stock recovery, format twice
Regenereting system step :
Download rooted AW 5.01 system directory from here
Code:
- fastboot flash system system.img
Go back to stock recovery, Choose apply update from ADB (adb sideload)
Download AW 5.01 update from here
Code:
- adb sideload 149e0c34d0ab10d3e356d6301915dcc04552d9db.signed-lenok-LWX48P-from-KNX01R.149e0c34.zip
Reboot system now. Choose langage, etc.
Nota : At this time, if you don't need root and Chainfire SU (witch is useless at this time) you can go just for flashing TWRP by :
Code:
- adb reboot bootloader
- fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
And that's it.
Or following steps : Rooting back Watch and custom TWRP Recovery support
Download stock rooted AW 5.01 system directory from here
Code:
- adb reboot bootloader
- fastboot flash system system.img
Reboot Watch, autorize adb debug on the watch
Download Chainfire SU 2.40 from here or BETA-SuperSU-v2.42.zip
Note : You can remove Superuser.apk from the zip file into \common recovery which it is not compatible with AW 5.01
Pushing SU to the watch
Code:
- adb push supersu.zip /sdcard/su.zip
Back to Fastmod and flashing TWRP advanced recovery
Code:
- adb reboot bootloader
- fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Restart watch and go to TWRP recovery, install/flash su.zip from sdcard, reboot
Et Voilà !
Nice write up, I'm not sure doing the adb sideload does anything though. The system image is already patched, it was a backup from my device just rooted. Currently I have busybox working on the device and and working on init.d support so any changes we want to make will survive after reboot.
Sent from my A0001 using XDA Free mobile app
It'ill be nice :good:
HELP
I've done everything to try to get back to AW 5.01 but when I get to the adb sidelload part it says "error: device not found".
It's seem that windows 8 is not detecting my watch. Anyone have any insight on this would be great thanks!
Jay
edit...
Never Mind Got it to Work!
How did you get it to work?
I managed it, too. Turns out I had to reinstall drivers while in sideload mode. You can do it in device manager, select from computer, from list and find ADB composite device.
Hey guys, I accidentaly installed supersu apk on my watch and now I can see it in the menu all the time. How can I remove it from /system/app/SuperSu? Do I have to root first in order to gain rw rights on /system, remove whole SuperSu folder than do a factory reset for example and it won't show up anymore?

simply flash this in twrp > https://hostr.co/3yMSrXUUMD8B and it will remove for you and you will get root also
I have was trying to flash the TWRP recovery in my phone (Redmi 4a), but the recovery always got replaced after every reboot with the STOCK recovery.
I am now going to show how to flash this, beside the command line technique......(Although, some command line is necessary).....
1. Set adb and fastboot files in your Windows pc, fine
2. Now download the required twrp on to your pc and place it in adb-fastboot's folder.... or techies could path to that ****....
3. Enter bootloader with.....
adb reboot bootloader4. Now boot to twrp using......
fastboot boot recovery.img(I have named that twrp file as recovery)
5. Download super su zip, move it in phone, root your device....... reboot your device.......Now the second phase of process comes
6. Install twrp app in your phone, open it, copy the twrp image file to phone, tap on flash recovery
7. Select your twrp recovery in the phone and boom....... you have done it...... reboot to recovery by adb reboot recovery
I FORGOT TO MENTION, you should have your device unlocked, and I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY MISHAP and FOR THE STATE TO PLAY CRICKET WITH YOUR PHONE...... I am honest ....... IT WORKED FOR ME......
any tester n confirmed worked ?
No reason to do all those, you can flash recovery directly from fastboot with one command. The command:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
just boot to that recovery one time. This is good for testing a recovery or use it for one time without install it.
If you want to flash a recovery you just need to use:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Also for both commands isn't necessary to rename the recovery file or to put it adb folder, or root the device. Just need to specify the path and filename in place of "recovery.img". For e.g:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery C:\Phone\Recoveries\twrp_3.2.1.img
