I searched some places on the Maps app that pop up pretty quick in search history as you search for new places. I would rather these places not be shown to the wife when she uses my phone. I cannot figure out how to clear the search history. The places do not show up in my google map history...only in the phone. Can anyone point me to where that is stored so maybe I can delete the file?
Go into recovery and clear data?

Hahahaha looking up porn shops and "massage parlors" for a happy ending? Girlfriend's address/date locations?
lol jk
try to clear google search data maybe?
I tried the google thing...I cleared everything there...but it still shows up on phone. Where do I find recovery?
Menu> Settings > Applications> Manage Applications> All> Maps> "clear cache" and "clear data"
That should do it.

Yes I tried that as well. The first time I went there Maps was not even an option as a running program. I then installed an update and its there. But I have since cleared the cache...there is no option to clear data...only to uninstall updates...history still shows.
There must be a file this is written to that I could delete.
Titanium Backup Pro> Backup/Restore> Maps (Short tap it) > "Wipe data"
Maybe that will work for ya.
edit: Installed Google Maps from the Market, did a quick city search, it saved it to the history, then I did what i outlined above and ... Success.

Guys, I'm sure there used to be an option in eclair to clear browser download history. I can only see cancel all downloads in froyo?
Apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere, I did try searching first :-/
I don't know if this is the only way, but it's all I'm seeing at the moment. Open settings, applications, manage applications, all, download manager, clear data.

Thanks for the reply, tried it & unfortunately no joy; download history still there
In browser, click menu> more> settings> clear cache, date, cookies, passwords, etc, is about halfway down (you have to scroll).
I would also close the browsers windows (in browser, click menu> windows, then x each of the windows)
For downloads, click menu> more> downloads, then longpress each file...

Before you search for a new camera app have you cleared out your camera cache and tried the camera again?
Do the following:
Phone menu button > Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All
Scroll to Camera (or whatever the name of the camera app you're using) and click on it
Click on the "Clear cache" button and since you said you haven't done much with it, if you want, click on the "Clear data" though clearing data shouldn't be necessary at this point.
Its tha stock camera app that option was not there
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
You mean it was greyed out? All apps will have the same options so it'll be there, just probably not available which is also rather odd, imo. When you look at it in the "All" list, what number do you see under the Camera listing? While you're at it, what number do you see under "Camera Firmware"?
Sent using XDA app on a modified ROM
I cant get to it. I tryed the firm ware up grade and it wouldent do cause it force closes. Idk what to do wish i could find the stock files for it and copy over them and see if that would work...

Hi,
Almost all apps I have are missing from My apps on market, because I restored them via Titanium backup.
I can find all of them on market and they are marked as installed, but they still don't show up in My apps, which makes it impossible to update them.
Is there any way, besides reinstalling one by one (that would be really painful since I have about 100 of them), to bulk-add them back to market?
Go to settings, applications, manage application, all, market, clear history and cache. Should be job done.

Erm... Are we supposed to have Google Play yet? I mean literally everybody I know with an Android device has had their Market auto-updated to Google Play, but not on my tablet... The tablet shows up in the Google Play compatibility list too. Have any of you got the Google Play update? Have I missed something? Or has it just not shown up yet?

Have you tried clearing Market cache and data? If you have the button "Uninstall updates" then click this also. Then open Market, accept the terms and close it again. This should force it to update.

Works for me, BTA it can be restricted depending on your country. Here it goes:
Updating the Android Market Icon to Google Play
20 Mar, 2012
PLEASE NOTE: This News & Alert is specific to our mobile and tablet products with the ANDROID operating system. So the following may not be specific to your product (e.g. Series 7 SLATE PC - XE700T1A operating system is Windows 7).
Instructions for upgrading to the Google Play application (apps, games, movies and books).
1. Select (tap) the 'Android Market' icon.
2. Read the pop-up 'Terms & Conditions' menu notifying the end-user of the upgrade to 'Google Play', and select 'Accept'.
3. At this point the icon should update and say 'Play'.
4. When the 'Google Play' menu appears, select (tap) 'Continue'.
5. There will be a name change at the top of the screen, when inside the market app, but the layout will essentially be the same.
Note
Due to a small data download requirement, this change may take some time depending on the end-user's data connection.
For the fastest update we recommend using HSPA+ or WI-FI.
6. Move back to the home (main or idle) screen, and select (tap) 'Applications'.
Note
a). If the handset is rebooted then the 'Android Market' app icon will have been removed.
After this select (tap) 'Applications'.
Then replace the Android market shortcut with the 'Play Store' icon.
(This can be done by dragging the icon to the home or main screen from the applications menu).
b). If the handset device is not rebooted after updating the play application then the icon will need to be removed manually from the home screen and replaced with the new Play shop icon.
Navigate to the apps and create a new shortcut to 'Play Store' by dragging the icon to the home screen.
Please note
On the Galaxy Nexus devices the homescreen shortcut will automatically be removed.
Therefore the end-user will need to navigate to the apps and create a new shortcut to 'Play Store' by dragging the icon to the home screen.
Important
If after the above procedure is performed, the 'Market' icon is not replaced after some time with the 'Play Shop' icon, then the end-user will need to perform all of the following steps as outlined below.
Move to 'Applications' > 'Settings' > 'Applications' >' Manage applications', and check that either of the icons appear in the list as shown. Then:
• Select 'Applications' > 'Settings' > 'Applications' >' Manage applications', and then select the 'Android Market' icon. Then select (tap) 'Clear data'.
• Select 'Applications' > 'Settings' > 'Applications' >' Manage applications', and then select the 'Android Market' icon. Then select (tap) 'Clear cache'.
• Select 'Applications' > 'Settings' > 'Applications' > 'Manage applications', and then select the 'Android Market' icon. Select (tap) 'Uninstall updates'.

My tab just updated yesterday to Play as well.
Do things look squeezed in to anyone else? The app tiles in the main part, and my installed apps and information columns don't take up the whole screen. The toolbar at the top and the green stripe do though, so it doesn't seem to be a malfunction.
The tight quarters make things feel squished. Plus, I find it much slower than the Market already.
buggy play store
I was forced to take the upgrade today. Now I can't scroll thru installed apps. I have to update them one at a time even if I don't want them. Am using a rooted i957. Anyone else having this problem? Solutions?

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded "cache clear" and ran it but still no scrolling. I really don't want to keep updating the bloatware but it looks like I'm being forced to. I know people are working on a rom for the i957. Hope they come up with something.
the playstore looks really nice. But i think the old market was a bit quicker.. or not?
I tried searching because I thought I'd seen the answer to my problem before but I came up empty so I apologize if this has been asked and I missed it.
I did a data wipe on my phone today to see if it'd clear up some issues I was having. After the wipe non of my apps from the play store are showing up, regardless of free or purchased, the only thing that comes up is the preloaded apps.
What's the trick to get the play store to refresh and load my apps?
I tried to restore the backup I made before the wipe but it fails to reload.
Wiping data will remove your downloaded apps. Open the Play Market, hit menu, "my apps" and you'll see a list of everything you currently have downloaded/installed. Swipe over and you'll find the list of everything you've purchased and downloaded recently (free or not).

Thanks, I didn't realize it did that.
I thought there was a way to get it to reload most of the apps automatically but this will have to do.
I appreciate the help.
