-Ok, so I have been playing around with custom bootscreens...so i decided to download some videos and convert them to .png images and then build a bootscreen from those images......here is a very crude sample.....if you like my crude example or have any ideas go ahead and throw them out here and what you want and i will try to build them and post them on here for you and others to use.....Thanks
-This Boot screen is set up and tested on the HTC Desire HD/Inspire 4G at 480x800 Resolution at 15FPS.....but can work on many other devices without changing anything with a 480x800 Resolution
-Just copy the boot screen and place inside the system/customize/resource/.....(you can use programs such as (Droid Explorer/Android Commander) and on your android device by copying bootanimation.zip to your SD Card and then using root explorer to copy to destination)
-You can also use various programs that allow you to easier install custom boot screens such as......(Bootanimation Installer)--Download Below
P.S. I am very aware that the file is quite large...but it works.....
If the bootscreen doesn't work on your phone, change the frame rate in the desc.txt file.....
EDIT: There was a issue with the demo boot animation, but is fixed now....

The zip is flashable through CWM on at least galaxy s phones and a mt4g, so I imagine it works on others, too.
Credit to jlbmgrnr for collaboration on the idea and packaging it.
- Standard disclaimer about me not being responsible for phones getting messed up goes here -
file: dancing-boot-anim.zip is just the dancing, without the fake apple bootscreen.
file: bootanim-dancing-edify.zip is flashable with CWM3

I love the vaudeville green man. Can you put up a version without the -unqualifiable- apple?
In 2011, it's not as if we still have fight to get the green man a seat at the table.
awesome boot animation man. already installed it to my HTC Desire HD. good thing it's 480-800 resolution by default. i thought i would spice it up by adding my own custom sound mp3 to go along with it. sound file link at the bottom of this post.for those with a DHD you can push the files through AndroidSDK adb with the following commands. for this instance i am using the rom LeeDROID 2.2.2. connect your dhd to your computer and make sure it is set to charge only and make sure debugging is set to on.
first download vaderville-boot-anim.zip and extract the contents to a folder on your computer. first go to system folder and then media folder and find the bootanimation.zip file. copy and paste the bootanimation.zip into the same folder where your adb.exe is located which is usually program files\android\android-sdk\platform-tools\. open up adb through your cmd prompt and execute the following commands to load the new boot animation.
adb remount
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
also extract and put the android_audio.mp3 file into the same folder as adb so type:
adb push android_audio.mp3 /data/local
now we test everything out by rebooting
adb reboot
if everything goes well, your dhd will reboot and play the awesome boot animation along with the "new york, new york" song by frank sinatra minus the voice. this tutorial can be applied to any android phone provided you know where your rom stores it's boot animation file and sound file.
thermanlee maybe you can ask jlbmgrnr to add this sound file to the package so it can be flashed through cwm. in the bootanimation.zip you can open up the desc.txt and change the resolution to fit your android phone and then save and flash it. enjoy
Awesome

(Same deal as before. I imagine thermanlee will want to pop this into post #1.)
Hi!
I've made a dark downanimation.zip (animation while phone is switching off) to replace the stock one from HTC. It's like the original one, but on dark background, to go with the dark splash screen and bootanimation that's floating around in the ARHD rom thread. Tested in my Desire HD (480x800). Don't know if someone else had already made this, but I couldn't find any...
Install Instructions:
OPTION 1:
Open root explorer, rename the file darkdownanimation.zip to downanimation.zip and paste it in /system/customize/resource. Then define permissions to rw-r--r--, like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
OPTION 2:
Flash the darkdownanimation-flashable.zip in CWM.
Feel free to use it and comment on it! Thanks to Dude360 for making the flashable zip!

Thank you all! Probably you're looking for it in the SD card. In root explorer, select the ".." to go up a level and the system folder is there. Don't forget to select "mount r/w" before pasting the file.
Absolutely awesome downanimation. Using it now!
This one should be flashable, havnt had chance to try it yet myself though so let me know and Ill remake it if not.
Quick splash screen question, are they 'permanent' or do they revert back to the white HTC every time I reflash?
I flash roms quite a lot and usually incorporate boot/down anis in the rom cleaner script. Never dealt with splash screens before.
Cheers

This is absolutely looking great. Unfortunately i m using HD2 and not-a-big fan of android OS yet. until then i wil have to stare at the animation from my laptop / pc wondering if you would release the same for 480x800 device. jus the png file will suffice...
xD
good job mate... hope you can build start up black screen like this.. =)
Hy Community.
I hope this is the right forum for this thread.
I wanted to install a costum bootanimation today, but I didnt found anything goog in our resolution.
So I decided to make this thread.
Just upload your animations here:laugh:.
I Optimized one for our phone its attached to the post.
If you have a request to optimize a bootanimation for our phone send me a PN with the link to the bootanimation.zip or the thread it is in.
Requirements:Rooted phone(how to:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818502)
How to:
1. Copy bootanimation.zip to your sd card.
2. Open a file explorer with root (read and write) permissions
3. Copy bootanimation.zip to system/media
4. Have Fun!
You do this at your own risk, but as I think the worse thing that could happen is that your get a blackscreen until you see the homescreen(correct me if I'm wrong)
Sorry if I did any language mistakes. I'm not a native English speaker.
[EDIT] Thumbnail only shows 1st picture didnt know that sorry. Here is a link: http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/446/pdice3.gif[/EDIT]
How to optimize bootanimation for your own usage:
1.Get the bootanimation zip file from the animation you want to optimize and extract it.
2.Download http://www.chip.de/downloads/Picture-Converter_16499323.html ( Its German. But you actually dont need the Englisch one its just pressing some buttons)
3.Open PictureConverter.exe

description of the picture:
1....Browse the files you want here
2....select the output format i took .jpg and 100% (I dont know if it works with other formats too but I think so)
3....Adjust Resolution to 720x1280
4....output directory
4.Convert the picture to 720x1280
5.delete/move the original pictures and move the ones from the dir "konvertiert" into the part directory.
6.open desc.txt
in this file there will be something like this (Brackets are comments)
720(width) 1280(height) 20(i think this is the time in ms between the pics but I'm not sure)
p(no idea whats that just let it at p) 1(1..play 1 time 0..repeats the pics) 0(no idea what that means) part0(name of the folder)
7.zip it. Set compression to storage and install it. Thats all.
Please Upload the animations you optimized so everyone can get a piece of the cake
So I tried my best to make a lettering for our device. But the problem is I'm a total noob at cinema 4D.
It would be great if someone could make a better one .
But as for now I will upload mine so you will be able to see which great device you're booting at the time
btw :you have to rename bootanimationlettering to bootanimation before you copy it to system/media but I think everyone knows that here.
some sites where you can find bootanimations:
Some of the bootanimations there are in 720x1280 just open desc.txt to look it up

ALL BOOT VIDEOS CONTAINS SOUNDS !
It is checked and found working in 4.2.2 Please let me know if it works in others too.
More Description :-
1.It is "bootanimation" binary will be placed in /system/bin
2.Plays MPEG-4 @30fps video more smoothly than H.264(depends on decoder of your phone).If you a have good hardware then you should go with H.264
3.Put MPEG-4 (.mp4) video of compatible resolution in
/system/media/bootx.mp4 (start up video)
/system/media/bootxoff.mp4 (shut down video)
4.Flashable zip contain demo boot/shut videos can be changed easily.
Benefits of using this-

I'm using a custom Xperia Z3 ROM, while shutting down it shows the shutdown animation integrated in the ROM not the one included in the flashable zip.
check if /system/bin have only one " bootanimation"
b/c your factory " bootanimation" binary may start with capital " B " . if you have then rename it to anything!!.
then delete old .zip shutanimation
from /system/media
also check for "shutanimation" or similar file

Where's devilex94's credit for posting the original bootanimation binary that you're using here? All you really did was relabel some things and added some boot animations.

and here is the preview
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aquFmQsOwM
i'm sorry but this binary is from diff. source not from aosp
and why did u say that without even reading
my binary uses single video doesnt uses .zip
and it uses better method for decoding MPEG-4
than aosp's..

I got excited that PA 5 came out finally. So I made my own custom bootanimation using their logo. I thought I'd share it with you all. I hope you like it!
Requirements:
Unlocked bootloader
Rooted device
Root explorer app (Solid Explorer recommended)
Install Instructions:
Rename the downloaded file to "bootanimation.zip"
Transfer "bootanimation.zip" to internal SD card
Copy file to /system/media
Set file permission to rw-r-r-
Reboot! Enjoy!
Download:
With Text
480 - 540 - 720 - 1080 - 1440
Without Text
480 - 540 - 720 - 1080 - 1440
Now supports Theme Engine. You can download it from HERE.
Check out my other bootanimations:
CyanogenMod
Oxygen OS NEW!
Hit the donate button if you like my work!
Any chance you'll release a version compatible with the CM Theme Engine?

You sure your device is rooted? If so then Make sure root access is granted to solid explorer.

Just place the bootanimation.zip in /system/media give it rw-r-r(644) permissions and reboot, very easy it takes less than 10seconds to do this and if you want to keep your original animation just rename it to bootanimation.zip.bak before importing the new one to avoid over writing the original file, or save a copy of it else where on your /sdcard or Pc.
awesome job
Beautiful dude!
Doesn't work i have root. placed bootanimation.zip overwrite (rw r r). but just a black screen also tried with rom toolbox pro doesn't even preview. Cm minimal worked just fined.
It must be the official bootanimation !
