Microsoft MyPhone Shutdown - HD7 General

I'm using HTC TP2 but I also have HD7 which I don't use because I can't move contacts, text msg, etc, due to lack of MyPhone app for WP7
After MS shuts down MyPhone service, all the content will be moved to SkyDrive service.
Once this happens is there any way to move contacts texts, pics etc. from SkyDrive (Windows Live?) to HD7?
Thanks

SMS/texts cannot be restored or backed up (yet) on Windows Phone 7. Period.
Your contacts will be converted to a CSV file, which you can download and manually import using Windows Live Hotmail, or Gmail, or many other e-mail services. Then just sync it with your phone.
Pictures, videos, music, can be downloaded to your PC and sync'd to your phone via Zune. Windows Phone will also automatically recognize any picture folders on your SkyDrive and they can be displayed through the Pictures hub if your Windows Live ID is linked to the phone. Alternatively, once the Windows Phone Mango update comes out, there will be a built in way to access your SkyDrive files through the phone.
Office documents can be e-mailed to yourself, or stored on your SkyDrive for access from the WP7 browser (until Mango).
Favorites cannot be backed up or restored to Windows Phone 7 (yet).
Calendar items will be converted to an ICS file that you can import into many different calendar services, then sync that service with the phone.
Note that the document detailing the My Phone service shutdown says that not all data will be migrated over. Only contacts, text messages, calendar items and photos. The rest you must backup yourself.

When you say yet do you mean that it will be possible inn the mango update?

I say yet because it may be possible in any future update. In Mango, I don't see the ability, but I'm not going to say it will never happen, just a matter of when.

It seems that my contacts and text messages are not synchronized with the SkyDrive account.
My phone is based on WM 6.5.3 and I would like to preserve my contacts for future phones.
Do you know why the synchronization does not work?

Where are your contacts currently stored? Depending on where they are stored, there are a few options.
- If they are stored on the phone, you can connect the phone to your PC and use Microsoft Outlook to sync your contacts to your PC so you can use them in the future. You can also use the Windows Live app on the phone to sync your contacts back and forth to your Hotmail account, though this sometimes does not always work as intended and may end up erasing your on-phone contacts to replace them with the ones in your Hotmail account.
- Your contacts should have been backed up to a .csv file before the service stopped. You can use this file to import into other e-mail/contact applications (such as Outlook, Gmail, Hotmail, etc.).

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it.
The interesting fact is that they are stored in my MyPhone account. I use the same Live account for SkyDrive and it is empty.
In the attached screenshot, I show that my account is not empty, but in the skydrive.live.com address I have nothing

Hmm. Can you still see your contacts and items in the MyPhone website? If you can, are you able to export your contacts to a file or something?
Also, I believe the service is no longer active, so your contacts should still be on the phone if you sync'd it. If they still show up in your contact list, then you should be able to sync it with your PC and Outlook, or use Windows Live or even another Exchange server to sync your contacts.
Otherwise, it's been a long time since I've used the MyPhone website, so I have no idea what features it has now. You may have to e-mail support and see if they can assist you.

Hello,
Yes, I am able to see them on my side (all messages and contacts), but since the service is down, the MyPhone application cannot create a connection to the server, and I am afraid that I will lose my items soon
I will try to contact with Support.
Thank you

I don't believe you can remove them. All you can do is delete the contacts so they don't show up on the phone (if you only use the Gmail or Outlook contacts). Removing them from your Live contacts will also remove them from you messenger contacts, so keep that in mind.
I believe Ms has copied this from google . so the only option is I guess you delete them in your live account or delete the live account under setting which of course will affect your market accessibility.
or better still make a new live account with no contacts
um how did
you even get your windows live contacts on the phone? i synced my contacts to windows live from myphone winmo 6.5.x then got my hd7 signed in with my windows live no contacts appeared, then signed in with my gmail account and it pulled my contacts from my gmail.

Whatever Windows Live ID you enter as the first/primary one will automatically sync with your Contacts (store in your Hotmail/Contacts account) and Calendar (stored in your Windows Live Calendar) account. There is no choice, as this is how it works. The phone assumes the first Windows Live ID you enter is your primary means of communication, therefore will automatically sync all that information to your phone.
To remove those contacts from your phone, you would delete them from your Contacts and/or Hotmail account and it will reflect the changes across all of Windows Live. This includes Windows Live Messenger.

The Microsoft MyPhone contacts are not part of Windows Live and therefore will not sync with your Windows Phone 7 device since MyPhone is not available for the platform and incompatible.
If you log in with your windows live account, WP7 will automatically use those contacts. This is by default and not changable.
Yeah you can probably delete them...or create a bogus account that has no contacts, etc., but the premise is still the same....first WL account gets the calendar and contacts sync'd automatically
Here it is what you have to do when you want to receive your hotmail e-mails but not sync hotmail contacts, in otherword to Exclude windows live contacts....
SETTINGS > ADD AN ACCOUNT > OTHER ACCOUNT > Then just type your hotmail adress and the password.
That`s it, the HD7 is only syncing E-mail !!!! all hotmail (windows live) contacts are NOT synched !!!!!
DO NOT USE "WINDOWS LIVE" option !!!!! when adding a new e-mail !!!

how to sync via outlook hotmail connector???

H!
I have some questions, I tried doing it again and again but can't do it the right way..
I installed outlook hotmail connector, then logged in my live.com account, then dragged the contact form my outlook to live.com contacts, I logged in to my account via IE and didn't see any contacts, it says 0. After sometime, the "people" tile was full of my contacts, which I believe I dragged from outlook. Upon logging on, contact list of live.com still empty. I also tried adding a new contact on my phone, but that certain contact didn't appear on my outlook.
I am quite confused on how this connector works.
By the way , I am using 2 different live.com accounts. 1 for the signing in of marketplace, and 2nd for people tile.

A bit confusing how you say it but let me explain this way.
I know there is a way to do a direct sync via out look from comp to phone, no clue how I personally dont use that way.
Via Live.com:
Export all of your contact in Outlook a .csv file.
Save it on your desk top.
Log in to Live account on your computer, go to contact, there is an import option. When the browser opens up to find the file, locate it and import them.
THen on your phone, go to settings, then emails & accounts.
Select add new account
Select Windows Live
Log in using the SAME ACCOUNT as what you used to log into live.com on your computer.
It will auto set up and then ask you to set what to sync:
Emails, Contact, calendar, pictures
Select what you need, make sure you select Contacts.
Then sync the account and ur contacts will import from Live.com to your phone.
In your account setting on phone, select how often you want it to sync, remember the more often the more battery it uses.
So if you add a new contact, on next sync that contact will appear on your account when you log into live.com
Most important , use the same account.
I think Outlook Hotmail connector must sync with my live.com account without doing any importation of .csv files, in CSV files, how will picture be synced?
By the way I understand the Hotmail connector works, it must :
1.) automatically sync my contacts under live.com account on outlook without doing any importation process.
2.) since phone's contact list syncs sith live.com so it must update it self when I add new contacts.

I am sure there is a way to use Outlook hotmail sync but I cant get out look to work even with my HD2, always tells me its not there even though it is.
So I moved uploaded my contacts from HD2 ( would not upload to live.com) to google then moved them from google to hotmail then to new phone.
Pictures are part of what you select on hotmail sync but i dont have any here het to sync, so have not transfered pix from HD2 yet cause i cant get Zune to install on my box, not sure why, clean copy of Windows 7, only installed two months ago. gives me some error.
for pictures you take on teh HD7, its auto set to auto upload them to cloud sky drive, you can disable that and do it manually, its default to do it once ever so often or u can do it as soon as you take the pic.
Hope that helps

I had a similar problem. You need to delete the browsing history of Internet Explorer, then close Internet Explorer, then sign-in again to your Windows Live account and then you will see your contacts. I noticed on some occassions that there are sync issues within Internet Explorer and Outlook open at the same time. But closing and deleting the browsing history of Internet Explorer seemed to work for me.
I followed method 2 from this article and worked like a charm....

I've had and still have the same problem. The contacts are there in Live, if I try to edit or delete the whole lot it tells me how many are there, but if I click on contacts, it tells me I have zero contacts and asks if I want to import them from somewhere.
I have contacted microsoft support but have not gotten an answer yet.
And I imported mine from gmail (3 times) because I didn't know they had come across.
I believe that this set-up is the worst piece of garbage microsoft idiots could setup. PLEASE idiots of microsoft go back to activesync ....
To sync your live (imported from outlook) contacts and live calendar with outlook 2010, you just need to create your live account with connector in outlook and then set under settings as default datafile and if you want as your default e-mail.

[REQUEST] moving contacts/SMS and other stuff between android & WP7

well...since we now have WP7 added to the game, I think a software or a method to transfer contacts, messages, email accounts etc...between android and WP7 (and WM 6.5x if possible too) is necessary, so we can freely move between all these OSes or using more than one at the same time (personally, I'll go with WP7 on NAND and android on SD best of both worlds)
I'm not a software dev so I can't do it, but I'm ready to donate for a software/service like that and I think many of you will agree with me
If you want to keep your contacts synchronized between two OSes then i would recommend that you use your gmail you are able to sync contacts fro mgmail with both android and wp7
On another note: you are not able to run WP7 of NAND AND android from the SD card at the same time, as the way android ran from SD before was through a emulator for windows mobile.

yup I know gmail can sync contacts, I can even copy them to the SIM card. the main concern here is SMS messages
lol I didn't mean AT the same time of course but now we can boot android from SD card right from MAGLDR so I can choose to boot either this or that
I'm afraid that Syncing SMS messages between the 2 different OS may not be possible.
I agree with Hojlind about GMail though. This is how I synced my contacts/calendar to and from WM and Android. Instantly updates the calendar and contacts on both OS's.

yea I know, what i meant is using a 3rd party app (a version for android and another for WP7 to backup/restore SMS back and forth) or a dedicated online service or something like that
I'm afraid there is none at the moment. I would love to see an app restore/backup sms to the gmail as this is what I am having on the android. If that can be achieved then I can switch freely between the 2 OS without worries
hi all
is there any program in wp7 that can import vcf (outlook contacts) into cell phone?
I mean direct import without any internet service.
No Direct Import.
You can email the vcf file to yourself. Other than that, you can copy the vcf to your pictures folder, gain access by following the steps here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915664
Then install Touch Xplorer and move the file from pictures to the documents folder. from there go to Office ..... open the file, Any way something like that.
Your best bet,
Connect your phone using wifi, email the file to yourself as an attachment.

For Contact, calendar and E-mail i use Gmail
For SMS:
In Android install "sms-backup" app, this will back-up all your SMS to your Gmail account under a SMS label in your mail. This label can be accessed within the mail application of WP7.
Hope this helps
It seems that SMSSyncUp <forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625378> has done the first half of the job by sync WM 6.5 SMS to gmail.
Could anyone programme the second half? I tried some Android programmes (e.g. SMS Backup +) which sync Android SMS with gmail, but the data aren't compatible...

How I can move to my contacts Windows Mobile 7?

[Q] Contacts, memos and calendar compatibility?

I am considering buying Galaxy Note, but there is one issue I haven't been able to clear so far:
How compatible are the GN calendar (s-planner), memo (s-memo) and contacts with Outlook and Google calendar? Can I synchronize between GN and Outlook calendar and contacts? Are the s-memo notes transferred to PC and if so, can they be exported to any other format (Outlook memo? MS Onenote? Evernote? ASCII text? Graphics?)
I have already had Palm PDAs (with the Palm Desktop on PC), then WinMobile devices (with Outlook) and got quite used to the comfort of being able to view and edit contacts, schedules and memos on both PC and the mobile device. If GN doesn't allow this, this would be a serious downside for me.
Everything is synced with Google. If your Outlook syncs with google then it shouldnt be a problem with the calander and contacts. You can add s-memos to calander events, but if you dont do that, then you have to manually sync s-memo things to Google Docs. But other than that its completely autonomous. There are also a lot of apps that do what you want. I would recommend buying a Note.
syncs fine with hotmail, exchange, google and facebook.
I initially had an odd scenario where hotmail gained some facebook calendar events (birthdays) but that seems to have resolved itself.
Thank you for the answer.
It has been written somewhere that the latest version of S-Memo can also synchronize with Evernote. Can anyone confirm that? And if so, does it just send the content as an image or does it retain some more formatting (text? www links? etc.)

sync works with evernote but it send the notes as images.
I am a sync-o-phile (oo-er, sounds a bit rude), always have been.
I now have my calendar and contacts synced with Google & Outlook using and App called Sync2 from www.sync2.com. It seems to work fine, although can fail when outlook is closed and it is still alive (I close Outlook to sleep my PC or Outlook can crash). I sync it and several other web calendars at the same time.
I also have my Outlook to do list sync to ToodleDo, and then to Due Today both on my PC and my phone. It uses Outlook categories as Project names, which is neat. I have not tried linking with the Notes To Do list as this seems peculiar to the Note, and I want a more general solution.
I like that Google/Samsung now seems to carry over Outlook categories for contacts in the Note. That means I can use them properly.
I use Evernote to sync all my notes as it is far more powerful than the Google notes thing, and more generic. I also love the ability to open a file, edit it, and save again, and it updates the note.
I use Basecamp on my PC, phone, and the web for managing projects and collaborating with customers.
For files I use SugarSync, and it syncs with up to 3 devices, up to 2GB for free, and I typically just ignore it an expect my files to be wherever I am.
Odd thing is that I have noticed several contacts getting images from other sources I never asked to look up. I presume Facebook. This is bloody annoying. Does anyone know how to stop it?

This is quite possible. I have also noticed the same behaviour on my WinMobile phone (HTC Touch Pro2), so it is not directly an Android related issue. And yes, the images for my contacts that appeared suddenly without my consent, are the same as their Facebook profile images.
Got a Note!
You've managed to give me the information I needed and finally I bought a Note!
So far I have been able to confirm:
Synchronizing Smemo with Google Docs - works great, text remains text, while images are embeded in the document
Exporting contacts from Outlook to KIES worked "sort of", while exporting to Gmail and back to Note worked great. I have managed to retain all the information and even code page (I used ASCII, not Unicode) worked as expected.
Exporting calendar from Outlook to Gmail and back to Note worked almost perfectly (apart from some inconsistencies which were due to duplicate entries in Outlook)
As for contact photos, it seems that only those which originate from Facebook are added to contact data.

I got all my contact photos from way back, and those must have come through from Outlook -> Google -> Note as Outlook is the only constant source since I was first able to do this (with my Sony Clie)
Perhaps in my case Outlook photos would also have been added through Google, but I exported/imported them via a .csv file, which didn't retain photos, only text data.
My outlook contact photos sync perfectly.

[Q] How to import contacts, sms with no cloud

Im desperate, i already spent two days to find a way how to import contacts to my lumia 520 with WP8 without using any cloud service like live, hotmail, google, etc. I had a diamond 2 with WM 6.5. If you have WM 6.5 you can save/export contacts to vCard (*.vcf format) and copy to SD card. Next, you have to install Transfer my data and via this app you can import contacts from SD card.
With this aplication you can too transfer your contacts via bluetooth from your old phone.

Export your contacts from Outlook as a CSV. Then you can use Yahoo or Hotmail to import the CSV file. If it has the option to select CSV from Outlook make sure to use that option. It makes a difference if they specify. Whichever account you use you may want to clean your contact list because they will all be mixed in together. What I did was created a second Hotmail account and used that as my WP8 ID and for all of my MS Live account access. Imported my CSV file to that Hotmail account, then setup that Hotmail account on the phone contact list and everything imported in a few minutes. Hope it works for you as well as for me. I really prefer to use ATT address book but it wont work on my unlocked unbraded 520. If you can get ATT address book to work then that is by far an easier way. Login to https://addressbook.att.net/ and setup your account. I'm making the assumption that you have ATT as your provider. Once logged in and setup, import the CSV file there. Then open ATT address book app on your phone. Also set it up as your contact list in settings.
One other possible option: WP can import contacts from the SIM. SIM cards tend to only be able to store a really small number of contacts at once, so it may take several rounds of storing and importing, but it's a think you could try. If your old phone isn't currently usable for this, you could try having it done at a carrier store; they usually have the tools.
By the way, if you're so paranoid about privacy that you don't want MS to even know who is in your contacts list and/or you don't trust their privacy policies, I'm not sure that any modern smartphone is really going to work for you. A completely rooted Android phone with a modified, custom-built ROM, perhaps? All the major smartphone OS vendors use "cloud" synching for things like contacts.
Thanks for help
all of you guys. At the end i spent yesterday 3 hours to manually do that. I export all the contacts and sent them as vcf. Then i received e-mail to my Lumia 520, and one after one - it takes 4 clicks for one contact - added to my contact list. I had like 580 contacts - at least, after few years i delete some of them
Once again - BIG THANKS for your effort!!
Now the second part of the question - as im going to order new digitizer for my loved diamond 2 - how to export/import sms from WM6.5 to WP8 with no cloud?
