Hi,
I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing the same problem but ever since I installed Launcher Go Ex (2.38), my battery life has slashed in half. I used to get over one day with my phone but now it barely reaches 20 hours.
One thing I have noticed is random applications running in the background automatically. I kill all the application via the Ram Status option when you hold the home button (Darky's Rom). But after few minutes without touching the phone and select clear memory, it kills another couple applications oddly.
Also in the 'running' section of the app tray, I select close all programs but when I come back to that section a few minutes later, I see a load running again.
I think the background application is the cause for the battery drain but I'm not sure. Any help would be great
Thanks
Same issue with Draky 10.2
I have the same problem with launcher Go and Draky Rom 10.2.
As the TW launcher stops frequently on Darky 10.2 I use Launcher Go.
Have you solved the issue meanwhile?
Nope. May change launchers as well which is a shame because I really like Launcher Go

So I am now making Launcher Pro my new Home application. The only issue with this is every so often my icons and widgets on my screen will disappear and re appear. Also maybe like twice a day I get a force close while using the phone. My question to all that use Launcher Pro on the Hero, does any of this happen to you? Also is there a way to fix this?
Rom - NfiniteX45 deoxed.
OC - HoneyBunV3
Did other mods like 270 Degree rotation.
Just putting what I have done on my phone because I do not know if this is the reason why this is happening. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Hit menu > preferences > advanced settings > memory usage settings
there are a lot of settings here to tweak for you problem. first, try the bottom setting "prevent force-closes".
Read these 2 posts to understand what the settings mean:
http://www.launcherpro.com/?p=74
http://www.launcherpro.com/?p=93
Also make sure you save launcher pro as your default home. If you're not sure how, download home switcher from the market.

Thank you both on your advice. I already had prevent force closing on. As for setting it as my default home, I made sure that was the first thing that I did. I will try to tweak the settings to a lower memory usage. After reading the 2 links it seems like it may help on a lower setting. This whole time I thought leaving it at a moderate setting would make it perform better. I will let you know my results after a day or so on my new settings. If you guys don't mind, can you give me your memory settings since we all have the same device? I know each device can vary but just to give myself a heads up on the scenarios.
While we all have the same device, I doubt we share the same number of homescreens, active widgets, large sized widgets, and shortcuts on the homescreen, if we use the scrollable dock, and if we choose a dock background... all of these affect how much memory LauncherPro takes up, and the more memory it takes up the more likely it is to force-closing / having to reload all icons.
I have 3 homescreens and the following widgets: calendar, music control, digi clock, weather channel (small), some dazzle control widgets, some Apps Organizer widgets, and a few shortcuts to apps. About 50-55% of my availalbe home screen area is full.
I also don't have a scrollable dock or dock background, and I don't use scrollable widgets.
Memory usage preset: medium
Checked: Use homescreen caches and Build caches as needed
Homescreen cache type: normal
I'm running a pretty minimal setup with 3 screens and only 4 widgets, with 1 dock, and sometimes I do get the thing with the screen refresh. I don't see force closes but occasionally do have to tell it to wait for launcherpro. Probably only happens a couple times a week though. I'm currently on the latest nightly 2.2 build, and previously on dd 2.8, and saw this on each. The refresh does seem to occur after closing out of memory intensive things, but comes back quick enough that it doesn't bother me.

Thanks for the reply trying all diffrent settings now. I am thinking about making the jump to 2.2 now that I have launcher pro as my home. I was just waiting for it to have everything working before going to 2.2.
Ever since installing 2.2 I don't get any of the issues I was explaining.
I'm on 2.2, have all the memory settings on launcher pro at maximum performance, with 5 home screens, lots of widgets, etc., with autokiller at strict, and I always have 40-50mb of ram free and no slowdowns/force closes. Just so ya can compare.
I just updated to Gingerbread. I used ADW and LauncherPro without issues on FRG83, however, in GRI40. It gets knocked out of memory (I think) everytime I open an app. So when I click home and choose one or the other, it has to always redraw the screen and the app drawer, taking atleast 2 to 5 seconds. I have used the same settings I did on FRG83 (system persistant, prevent FCs) and it has not helped.
Can anyone provide some suggestions?
Try to reset adw...
Or do you have the adw's keep in memory setting on?
I'm using adw too, and updated to gingerbread also without any problems.

I'm using Launcher Pro and haven't had any issues with it on GRI40 so far.
Yes I have the keep in memory setting for both those apps checked.
So its starting to annoy me. Does anyone else have an issue with whatever launcher they use it kind if restarts when hitting the home bbutton from an app? I've noticed it with GB launcher adw, xperia launcher. Its annoying because I hit the home button it freezes for a second and I have to wait for my app drawer to load. Does anyone else have this issue? I've come across it in all roms froyo and gingerbread alike.

Not an issue for me with LP+
Yup... happens to me on any launcher but not after every app-it seems random. I am assuming that Android is killing it to manage memory and then I restarts when home is pressed or I back out of an application to the home screen. Btw, I am running GR-11.

Thats what I'm thinking. Yeah its not after every app close. Is there anyway we can change it so the os doesn't kill it off?
I have the "prevent force-closes" options checked in launcherpro and it usually doesnt close off the homescreen. In the off chance it does close, the launcher needs to rebuild the app drawer etc etc.
Did some more research.
It fixed it for me completely just go into the terminal app (if you don't have one get it from the market), Continnum 5.4.1 came with it.
use this command.
su {hit enter}
echo ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 >> /data/local.prop {hit enter}
reboot {hit enter}
I found what you taught is quite useful. I am not sure whether the script affect all the launcher or default one with OS?
I just got this phone a couple of days ago. So far, I've got TWRP, Chroma (12 Apr version since any of the later updates don't work for me), and SuperSU up and running. I've also got Nova Launcher and Greenify as well. Once in a while, I'll get a pop up that says "[APP NAME] has been granted superuser permissions for an interactive shell". It's usually Nova Launcher or Greenify that does this, and right after that, I'll notice that my notification drawer won't come down anymore. Technically, I can force the drawer to come down by changing the gesture in Nova Launcher (both this and Greenify still work fine), but it's basically the entire top part of the screen that becomes nonfunctional. I can't click anything that happens to be there, be it the Google search bar or the menu buttons within any given app. When I turn it horizontal, the nonfunctional part of the screen turns with it as well.
I'm not sure what the problem is, but it does go away after I reboot my phone. Half the times it will work, half the times it won't.

I would venture a guess and say this could be an issue with Nova. I don't recall Nova needing superuser privileges though from when I used it on my rooted G3, but that, perhaps, has changed. I would restore a backup, if you have one, or try a different launcher and see if the problem persists before going further. Start with the simple fixes first. :good:
Hi,
I'm running the latest Android 10 on T-mobile, stock ROM, no mod or root
I think the crashing problem is after the Android 10 update (from 9). After that, everyday I got app crashing very often. This include Nova Launcher. I've disabled launcher from power optimization but it does not happen. Each time I tap home, I can see all the icons and widgets being redrawn.
There is not much of apps running on the phone.
How could I troubleshoot it?
Thanks

Uninstall Nova and see what happens.
