Hi,
I accidently deleted the touchwiz launcher apk from /system/app using root explorer.......
Could anyone provide me with the apk? as I'm quite fond ot touchwiz........
I'm on a GB, XXJVK 2.3.3
So it would ve helpful if the apk came from an identical one, as apparently gingerbread has a slightly different tw launcher to froyo and eclair.
Thanks

Maybe try to unzip your rom on pc and copy the apk to your sd and move it with rootexplorer.
Hmm never thought of that! I will try it......thanks for the idea!

Have you tried just reflashing the PDA file from your jvk in Odin? Partition off That should restore all the default apps

I don't want to do that because I've done a lot with my sgs since I flashed 2.3.3, and
1- I'll lose all the apps/setting
2- I'll lose all the modifications I've made to it, like ROMs and themes
BUT
thankfully someone pm'd me and supplied me with theirs...

I want to know if anyone out there knows how to port a rom from the Samsung vibrant. The rom is called simply galaxy v2.7.2, it is a very fast rom. Here is the link:http://www.multiupload.com/PJIZ8D3PT6
Please reply back ASAP and thank you in advance

not sure if its the same rom or not but there already is a simply galaxy for the captivate, you would have to see who makes each rom
Its not to difficult to get one to work but it breaks a few features between the two phones i think
Thank you but I don't think the rom your talking about is completely stable. Plus the rom that I posted was constantly updated. Please if you can port, then let me know. Or can you find someone who can.

'porting' it would require you to download the rom zip
open rom zip with 7zip (do not extract)
open up a kernel zip that you want to use (must match 2.1, 2.2, or 2.3 to corresponding rom version)
drag n drop zImage from the kernel zip into the updates folder in the rom zip
do the same thing with modem.bin file from a modem zip
if you want the phone to be recognized as an sgh-i897 you need to open up /system/build.prop with notepad (i use notepad++ for everything on windows boxes) and make all references to T959 say i897

How can I create a CWM .zip file to install all the apps i have downloaded and use on my Galaxy S?
Thanks.
There used to be one on the insanity thread, with walkthrough on how to use, not sure if you can still download it though, if its not there I will ask nitr8 to upload it, or try surface rom, there may be one there

If you do not want to install a new ROM, you can also manually delete the su files from your phone
i guys, today i am using ICS 4.0.3(Claro BR) on my Note, the official firmware, rooted but never flashed any ROM(Don't wanna wipe) and this morning i was trying to install some modded SMS apps(I was really angry with automatic conversion to MMS on long texts). I used CWM and flashed an app without backing up the old one, the app doesn't work and i can't get the original back. Can someone please help me? (I am travelling and without acess to my computer at the moment)
I would be very grateful if someone with the stock ROM post their MMS.apk so i can try to i install it.

Unfortunately I don't have that saved...
You have a few options while on the road.
1. Download a third party MMS app from play store.
2. Reflash your ROM using mobile Odin
3. Download the 4.0.3 ROM. Extract the necessary file using root explorer. Place it in /system/app and set proper permissions.
Other things you can do too...but sounds like those would be easiest for you

Thanks bro, at the moment i am using an thirdy part app from PlayStore.
I will get home next week and try to download the 4.0.3 firmware and extract with ES File Explorer, i only need to download the .zip(?) to my External SD and search for the apk on my Note, right?
Sorry guys, brought my first Android one month ago, still a noob getting used to the SO.

Maybe you want to heed the following advice: Always make a Nand backup before you alter system apps/ files. If you have a Nand backup you can always restore your rom like it was before you did the modifications.

Yeah in es, you can locate the /system/app folder in the tar file.
Locate the appropriate file.
Copy it to your /system/app.
Next step is crucial- set proper permissions. Just do it the same as all other other files.
If you have problems you can always dirty flash the ROM
NOTE TO YOU AS A NEW USER. KNOW THAT STOCK ICS 4.0 KERNELS ARE UNSAFE AND IF YOU DO A FACTORY RESET YOU MAY KILL YOUR NEW PHONE. Please read the stickies on brick bug and you can install philz kernel to avoid issues.
And like other guy said...do nandroid backups...
Please hit thanks to me and other guy if we helped.

Thanks guys, i have a friend that downloaded the firmware and uploaded the file to Dropbox for me, e everything is working perfectly for me.
And i am not thinking about changing my kernel at the moment, and the only ROM i think i will install is the official JB release.(Not the leaks)
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Then don't do any factory resets...
Hit thanks button... we spend a lot of time to try to help...
Take care
