When is the last time that you updated your PRL? You might want to nandroid and go back to a Sense Rom and update the PRL, PRI and then restore your nandroid of WildHeroc.
There is a thread about PRL's as well in the Heroc section too.

Drunkp-you beat me to it just did it for my cousin.
This is Q&A so you better damn well be sorry I mean really "c'mon man" haha
I'd also browse thru the ROM's main thread to see if others encountered that same issue.

in need of a new Hero ROM for G1 that is fast and still being worked on?

The one I use is no longer being updated and my bluetooth not working so I am in need of a good popular HERO ROM for G1.
This is not the right section.
If you have a look through the posts here with the prefix [ROM] title... etc
then you will find something that you like im sure.
You might like the look of this one.

Oh and do a little research first of all, people will probably ask you to post these type of questions in the Dream Q&A section first of all and do a little home work.
indeed.. Q&A friend...
But to answer the question. Jacs hero is still being worked on and its lightning fast.

that sentence does not make any sense.
what is the avarge inital loading time that you get after the t-mobile g1 screen? Mine taking forever and re-applyied the install.
Edit/Delete Message
wow, people really dont understand the concept of a search button or posting in the correct place... MAYBE all the devs and people with dev-esque questions should move to the Q&A forums and post there but keep this labeled development to throw there r-tards off?
Sorry but this is in the wrong section and a horrible question. First of all, EVERY hero rom is still being worked on and second, every rom seems to respond differently to different g1's. It's all about trial and error. Flash one see what you think......and for the love of god SEARCH!!!
1. There is a Q&A thread. Ask your questions there.
2. There are MANY Hero ROMs. All are currently being worked on.
3. Search next time.
This is your first warning.

Confused about FRF72

I'm confused with FRF72, why is it only 2MB?! That is very small. Is this meant to patch the earlier FRF50 which I have running right now?
Even if it is/or isn't a patch, has anyone tried to run the ROM ZIP WITHOUT WIPING so to save from having to restore Titanium backup? I can't be bothered with the whole process until the weekend is over, unless I can upgrade without wiping. Please let me knwo if any of you have attempted to do that and have you succeeded? Thanks.
When I upgraded 2.1 to 2.2 and was curious, I didn't wipe and the 2.2 successfully booted, and everything all the settings and apps were intact, but it was force closing every single time I tried to run any app, so after that, I wiped, and then it was fine.
I don't want to go through that whole process again though, this time being its 2.2 older beta to newer beta, so it might work without a wipe right?
You are confused because you never searched before posting. Wrong section. This is not android development.

You didn't understand the answer.
1) You posted it in the wrong section - in Development. This is not development, this is Q&A. So the thread was moved by mods.
2) You've been (not so gently) pointed to search before you go asking questions. Especially those that have been answered and written all about. Go to General section, read thread "FRF72" from page 15 or so and up.

Look people the guy was only asking a simple question, no need to get all up yourselfs because he didnt look before hand.
Anyways, you should be able to just flash the zip from recovery no problems.
Simply put, FRF72 is a small patch to FRF50.

I hate to say it, but I learned a lot just by reading these forums. Yes, there are threads with 150+ pages of posts, but you will save yourself alot of trouble by learning from others mistakes. Read, read and read. Then you will know what you have, what you need, and what you want to ask....

But definitely READ this section..... all the good mods, kernels and reviews are in here.
techmik67 speaks the truth... I got my first Android phone (THIS ONE) on July 18th and started lurking these forums less than a week later.
Right now I'm installing VMWare and installing Linux as a virtual machine so that I can deox ROMs, all-the-while combing over the Captivate source code in hopes that I might find some clue as to why our kernel is locked to the AT&T modem files. I'm not even kidding =P

I am assuming you are talking about a stock Captivate. If you haven't done anything to it, I believe you would see this in SETTINGS>ABOUT PHONE
Baseband version: I897UCJF6
Kernel: I can't remember
Build number: Eclair
The 1st thing I did next was a 1 click root.
Next, and this is a personal choice, download and install from the thread SREv1.2.1a. If you read that 150+ page thread (most importantly, the OP) it will tell you that it includes some important things, like sideloading enabled and others.
Then see if you want a lagfix
At that point, your settings should now read:
Baseband version: I897UCJF6
Kernel: Same I think
Build number: SREv1.2.1a
I would install ROM MANAGER and QUICKBOOT from the market asap. Then consider upgrading firmware (baseband version) from UCJF6 to UCJH2 or JH3. Read the threads. And check my signature to see my setup, which I like alot.

How did you side load? did you actually "install" it, or did you "push" it to your phone? If it is installed, it will be in your app drawer. If you pushed it, you'll need to use the my files program to find the app, and just open it and hit install.
I would suggest reading the SRE thread, because that is probably one of the best way to really get your phone faster.
You can also check out the Unleash the Beast thread. Then check out any lag fix by Tayutama (that is what I use, and I'm not sure on the spelling) because that will make your phone quicker!

i have tried the i9000 rom, which was awesome, but i got tired of that little video call button mocking me so i switched back to stock UCJF6 and did the SRE1.21a.
how would i go about upgrading my firmware without reflashing everything and losing what i have already done? i have read the threads regarding the JH3 rom, but didnt see anything about how to do it without losing my current setup

If I am not mistaken, this is what Titanium Backup is good for.
Rom Manager will help you restore like system restore in windows to EXACTLY as you are, apps, data and all, when you create the backup (which you should ALWAYS do before trying to flash a new firmware or update). Do that now.
Then, get Titanium. Under backup and restore, backup all your apps and app data (will show up white text). Also backup SOME of the stuff in green and red. You can see what to back up. when in doubt, back it up and think twice before restoring it.
If at any time you brick or have problems, boot into recovery, choose reinstall packages which will run update.zip created by rom manager so you can access the clockwork restore menu. Then restore to your backup you made and start over.
Lastly, check out QUICKBOOT in the market. EZ reboot into recovery mode.
oh. i already use those and know how to do backups and recovery. i recovered all my stuff from my i9000 jump to jf6+sre .. guess i will go through the process again.

The $4 for Titanium donate version is well worth it. I did a restore on free, and it took 45 mins of installing apps and pushing buttons. took less than 10 with the donate version with no interaction.
Well I will re-iterate what others have already said. Read.
But here is what I did:
Flash JH3 via Odin
Root via Bugless Pete's Unleash the Beast v0.2
download Terminal Emulator from the market
Type: su
Type: sideloading
By now you are rooted and sideloading is activated and a bunch of bloat ware is gone.
Now install a lag fix (search for Zilch's condensed version of lag fixes)
You can choose between RyanZA's APK in the market or his script or tayatumas update.zip. I also reccomend Chainfires lag fix in the i9000 forums.
Now everything is done: JH3 - Root- Sideloading- lagfix.
Now patiently wait for Supercurios lagfix port for the captivate.
And find a mentor you can secretely stalk and try what they try. There are some people out there who really know what they are doing. Here is aquick list.
Chainfire
Zilch
RyanZA
Tayatuma
Unhelpful
Supercurio
And many more.
Then Read Read Read.

[Q] Andromeda 2.0 issue

i have no clue where to post this and have searched, so....... Q & A seems like to place to start. i just flashed this rom from dead stock. seems like most apps i try to use on my captivate now get a FC. not with a notification but a series of buzzes. on Super one click root it says im rooted. i did have to enter SU and tell it to allow setcpu but now things like titanium backup i get a blank screen and then a series of buzzes and it exits that app.
please help me or slap me in the right direction.
Bill
You can post questions in the the Andromeda thread in the developers section. It sounds like you got a bad flash. I'd suggest using ondin to go back to stock, do a master clear, then reinstall 2.0. I've yet to see anyone have this many problems with Andromeda so it's bound to be a bad flash.

where to begin?
sounds like the first problem is you tried to root this rom...its already rooted. secondly, setcpu is a bad idea on a kernel that doesnt support overclocking or undervolting. sounds like you need to reflash and DONT restore ALL data from Tibu. just restore missing apps+data
Ok. I will reflash. As far as the rooting thing. I noticed that SU was already there but something came up that said I wasn't rooted. I tried SICR. And after a bit of fighting it, it said I was already rooted. ...........

[Q] Cyanogen Mod 7.1

Hi this is my first post. Im really sorry if Im posting this again and if I am just tell me to delete it and point me to the correct one.
So i want to install the Cyanogen mod 7.1 that was released yesterday onto my HTC incredible s. however since i have only just had it around a month i know very little about android rooting and how to do it.
My question is what guide should i use? is this the cyanogen mod good. i cna tpost it here it wouldnt let me.
if so i know doing so will void my warrenty and so is it like jailbreaking where all you have to do is restore to stock firmware?
Update: installed using this http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Incredible_S:_Full_Update_Guide
worked like a charm
thank you very much.

welcome to the forum. just remember, this forum is chock full of great info. when you have a question, more often then not your question has already been asked. always use the search button first to reduce clutter
this phone is one of the easiest phones to root. just head here. voila. that's it.
yes, cm7 is THAT good. definitely worth it. fast and prob the best battery life out of all the roms.
you can always get the phone back to it's original state for warranty purposes. always a good idea to do a backup immediately after you root.
have fun.
ok thank you very much. Does the guide on the CyanogenMod website include how to restore to stock if you have to send your phone in?

i don't think so. that info is, however, readily available in this forum. just do a search
come to think of it, i think all you have to do is revert to the stock rom that you just backed up after rooting. someone please correct me if i'm wrong.
Does anyone also know if the root method for the HTC incredible S is temp? Does that mean you cant turn off your device? I'm confused.

no, it's not temporary. it will stay rooted until you unroot and return the device to stock/original state. why don't you try it out? it will be a good way to familiarize yourself with rooting, backing up, and restoring.
Hearing of the release of CM7 got me finally around of rooting my phone. This forum offers great tutorials and I managed to root is fairly easily. After rooting I was also asked wheter I wanted to flash CWM and I answered yes. Everything went OK and I was able to try CM7 after 30 minutes or so. The most time consuming operation was creating backup with CWM recovery.
But my opinion about CM7 isn't good. While I like the the effects and other neat customisation possibilities 3 thing turn me off.
First, I really love HTC's phone or dialler application which helps me find contacts by entering their number or trying to type their names. This is the single most useful thing invented on a telephone. As CM7 doesn't support that (only enterning numbers as far as I know) I will not use it.
Second, I wasn't able to connect to Exchange server for some reason
Third, Android Market shut itself down after 10 seconds and repeatedly kept doing that.
---
PS. I would have liked to post this info to developers forums, but as I don't have rights, I couldn't.

The markets fixed by going in to language settings and selecting English again.
Exchange worked fine for me...
Download another dialer application..
I'd choose double the speed, battery life and ram any day over sense
lets not start cm7 vs sense. this thread will never end really, it comes down to individual preference and that's not something we can argue.
cm7 isn't prefect but it's close, imo.
