[Q] Reset battery stats, now battery won't charge

This is my first post, so please excuse my naivety.
I recently flashed my Thrill to the most recent CM7 nightly (44 I believe) and since then my then fully charged battery will not report any charge. It constantly stays at 00% regardless of how many battery stat resets I do, or how long it stays on the charger.
I've tried reflashing CM7, as well as other firmwares in an attempt to right this wrong, but am coming up with nothing.
Is there a magic step I'm missing? I know my battery has a charge, but because it is reporting 00% the phone just shuts down.

Actually if you flash CyanogenMod, your phone will not charge while off.
You could very well have a dead battery.
If you do then every time you boot to the OS the battery will die before it can charge fast enough.
What I suggest you try though is to charge it while turning it on and the minute it gets to the homescreen, turn off the screen.

That was my strategy yesterday at work. I kept it plugged in with the screen off for 4 hours, and still have a 00% charge. I suppose I could see if a new battery would help...but I usually use this as an opportunity to just buy a new phone.
I'll stop by the ATT store later today and see if they'll let me try and put a new battery in to see if that is the case.

I've since reflashed to a different firmware and still have the same issue.

when you flash any kdz or bin rom,you are having the same problem?

Yup, I went to the 10k rom, and since all of the non-gb roms seem to be on multi-upload that is the only rom I seem to be able to access at the moment.

Are you wiping the Battery Stats from recovery?

Try leaving the battery out for 10 - 30 minutes.

I bought the phone on craigslist...so I'm not sure that is an option that would be open to me.

1) Flashed CM7
2) Wiped battery stats (without restart)
3) Restarted (Got caught in a boot loop)
4) Realized I forgot to clear the cache, so I cleared it then reflashed CM7
5) Started up right away, but battery would no longer charge.

Hmm. I'll try it as soon as possible.

I was able to leave my phone on in ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.1.5 for 2 hours last night. (I fell asleep before my phone powered down so it may have been longer).

My only thought is that somehow my battery got stuck in a state where it can only report 00%, regardless of the actual charge. The system sees a 00% battery and shuts down, because that is what the programming tells it to do.
I assume CWM doesn't look at the battery level while running, so it will continue to run regardless of what the perceived charge is...it'll just run until the battery actually dies.

[Q] my note not turning on

i am on stock ics 4.0.3 lpa rooted don't know what happend i am playing zynga poker and suddenly my phone switched off now it is not turning on tried everything removing battery, everything it was 27% charged please help guys even i can't get into recovery mode or downloading mode.. there is no evidence of life

try replacing the battery. I have seen a lot of that happen on rooted devices where when the battery hits 0% it will not respond to a charger or anything. I am having the same problem but have not replaced the battery yet

Did you try the hard reset (holding the power button for 10 seconds)? Does the battery picture show up on the screen if you connect the charger?

no dude nothing is shown it's just completely black on the screen whatever i try it doesn't mater

Hey. I just had this issue today. I thought my phone got bricked without doing anything. I was using it then 10 mins later it won't respond when i took it out of my pocket..
I had about 80% battery when it died this morning. I tried to boot it to recovery or download mode but nothing....
I finally tried using my bro-inlaw's battery but still nothing...
I blew my battery contacts and pins... Removed the sim and sdcard then placed battery back.
Tried turning it on normally... It did! My battery was at 59% when it finally turned on..
I'm on PA v0.4 with white gnote unit.
I think it may have been the unit acting up, not the rom.
Any thoughts?

Hey mate thats a sympton of battery going completely dead, try another battery or try to charge your battery with a external battery charger. Dont worry your note is fine just the battery gone dead.

First of all manage for charged battery, then only picture gets clear.
If it solve your problem then you may need not to do anything.

today i visited sams service centre after checking my fone they said that my note get oveheated and my motherboard blown up.. they said that it will be replaced in 3 days till then i have to wait

recieved my note today from sams sc it is working pretty as it is supposed to now there is no problem with hardware.. just get some new scratches on my camera lense now they are approx 8-10... a bit dissapointed but i noticed a new thing that my serial no. is 0000000 in status under about phone under settings any one can check out that they have the same no. or any other no. there?

Here's one for the record books....

Ok so i "had" a fully functional Droid bionic. It was running on eclipse 3.0 everything was fine. So i decided to change roms to Cm9 just to try it for fun. i must have done it wrong because now it is bricked... All it will do is show the boot logo of go into fastboot so i know there is still something there but my battery must be dead because it says battery low cannot program so i can't flash anything to it... So my question is how do i get it charged enough to flash ????? Please help

You either need another battery, an external battery charger, or a factory cable. Maybe you have a friend with a Bionic who can either lend you their battery for a while or can charge yours. Otherwise, you probably have to buy something. A new battery at the nearest Verizon store would probably be the quickest solution, but getting something online would be the most cost effective.

I do have a factory cable what good does that do me ? And i have no friends with bionics

A factory cable isn't the one that came with your phone, it's a cable like they use at the factory to fix and program phones. Basically it has one of the power wires in the USB spliced to a wire that goes to a normally unused pin in the usb connector which allows charging while the phone cannot start.

There are tutorials online about how to make a factory cable from a standard one, but they can be risky.

Hi, I am a user of velicty 4g from HK. (My English is really rubbish, sorry)
As shown in the title, my phone is dead suddenly when i was listening to music.
The following conditions are given.
Phone: Velocity 4g
Rom: Borken Rom Sense 4.1 ver.3.6 (Android 4.0.4)
The phone usually go out suddenly(about one-two time per day), it could be restarted by resetting the battery, but this time cannot.
Phone won't charge neither no orange light shown and the button won't vibrate when pressing it.
The monitor is on and give a black screen if I take out sim card and sd card.
The monitor is also on with a black screen if I charge the phone without battery.
Won't get into recovery nor bootloader.
Won't detected by computer when linked with the USB cable
I prefer not to have warrenty because i had it just 2 weeks ago due to the broken monitor glass....(HKD1300! I don't want to pay anymore!)

You need to ditch CWM... it doesn't support charging while off... for the vivid

May need a new battery to get the phone back on so you can boot up and change recovery.

The phone cannot turn on even a new battery is installed...
Do you think it is the problem with motherboard?

Should have read the forum and used twrp cwm causes problems on this phone. Not sure what you can do but if you get it fixed install twrp

Have you tried a different USB cable or charger? If the phone is not charging and you have tried a different battery (do you have an external charger for the battery) you might be at the end of your luck. Basic logical troubleshooting, start with power (battery, charger, outlet) and expand from there. If you have tried changing the battery but the battery was dead or your charger is faulty you could still have no power. Do you have a friend with the same phone, maybe have them loan you their battery.

Tried everything....
And finally HTC said the warrenty fee is HKD2060 (I bought this phone with HKD3000). I think i would buy a new one. (i won't buy htc again because it is very hard to buy accessories and the warrenty fee is too harsh for me.)

[Q] Strange charging

After I flashed the new IC 3.0.5 i got a huge charging problem.
At first my phone charged very slowly. First I thought that it is a consequence of the hboot update. But it isn't.
Then over night and today there was no charging at all. I nearly cried.
Now that I reflashed IC 3.0.3 my phone charges again.
Now my question: is my phone bricked? With GSAM battery monitor and other programs or the #xxx# method with the dialer
everything says that my battery is ok. When I connect my phone to my PC there is no problem with the connection but the slow charging still is a thing.

Do you even know what "bricked" means? You can use the phone, and it charges. What's with the brick question? I'm not trying to thrash you, but you could at least find out what bricked means before you asked such stupid question. To answer your question - no, it's not bricked

I know what bricked means. Just after the last flash it doesn't charge like it did before. I just want to know why and (if) how I can fix it.

How long does it charge? My phone charges about 2.5 hours from 0% to 100% on my current ROM. On some other ROMs I tried it charged almost 5 hours. Anyway, slow charge is even better than fast one if you ask me. Your battery doesn't heat as much and thus getting charged better and lower amp values give more complete charge than high values from faster charge

What??? Did you try with another charger? Dou you have fastcharge option enabled? For me fastcharge slowed down normal charging. Anyway, 10 hours is waaay to long. You can backup your ROM anf flash another just to se how it charges on other ROM. If it's the same, then you have a hardware problem

I didn't have fastcharge enabled. I have no kernel for it installed. I have a 2amh charger and when i play games on the charger it discharges. I don't know if that has something to do with the firmware update on 6.xx or is it because my rom isn't on the 6.xx base?

Firmware shouldn't cause it. I'm on old firmware, bit my phone charges fine. As I said, try some other ROM and see if it charges fine to rule out hardware fault. If you want to deal with backing up and reflashing that is. I remembered one more thing just now. What recovery do you have?

Mine phone also discharged when playing games connected on charger. Without touching it, it took about 5h to charge, stock unrooted phone. Turned out that problem was in USB extention cord i used between charger and phone.. Now it charges in 2,5h.

I did a Factory rest last night and now it seems to charge faster about 10% in 3/4h. I use the twrp 2.6.3.3

That's good. Maybe some files were left behind in battery stats that caused strange behaviour. TWRP 2.6.3.3 is fine. Some later releases had charging issues, that's why I asked

I don't know how and why, but my phone charges perfectly normal. I didn't do anything.

my phone running stock firmware and sometimes it experiences slow charging as well...
i wonder if it is because of the background apps that are running or smth?

Funny thing. I've experienced this mythical slow charge exactly twice now, and so I decided to search around today. I am running ARHD 71.1 with ElementalX 14.2.
Both times it was not fully charged when I woke in the morning, and when I checked the battery history it charged at about the same rate as it had drained the previous day, which is obviously weird.
I'm wondering if it has to do with the way I plug it in or something. Or maybe there was a kernel anomaly (the next day I tried the old turning it off and on again, and it hung on bootsplash for a looooonng time, but then managed to boot. weird). :silly:

That's the same thing that I experience. I've not solved my problem for 100%. From time to time the "strange-charging-ghost" comes around but I don't know how and why. I just plug and unplug a few times and then its pretty normal. I hope that I don't have to get a repair because A: I am out of warranty and B: I don't know if it could get fixed. Anyway I just did a factory reset and flashed a RUU and everything was pretty normal.
Ps: my Diagnostic centre *#*#4636#*#* says that my battery is OK
