Gingerbread Screen ON and OFF animations - HTC Incredible S

Does anyone know if these screen animations are available for the Inc S?? I think it's pretty cool and I'd love to know if this works for the Incredible S.

Yep. Those are on CyanogenMod 7. You can simply enable them in the Cyanogen-menu. But it's also available for AndroidRevolution HD (CRT-Screen Animation). Works very nice

Do you have a preference for CM7 over RevHD?? I'm kinda new to this and so far RevHD is the only one I tried. Do you have any feedback on CM7 vs RevHD??

Do you have a link to AndroidRevolution HD (CRT-Screen Animation) for Incredible S?? I can find it for ARHD 5.1.1. but I'm using the Incredible S version 1.1.3... Are they the same??

Sure. I had ARHD since i rooted my phone (as alpharevx launched public). It's a very nice rom - the best if you want Sense. But i'll never regret my switch to CM7 (about a month ago). It's totally smooth & faster than any rom i had before. Also the configuration possibilities are amazing.
In ArHD you have to flash that animation seperately. In CM7, it's included.
Yeah, you should be able to install that animation, cause it's linked in the IncS-thread. The files for sense 3.0 are the same for the IncS and the DHD version.
P.s. if you still have questions, feel free to contact me

Awesome thanks so much man, I may just have to try out CM7, I've been thinking about it but I didn't really know how they compare. Thanks again for the feedback!!

No problem. Yeah, you should really try out CM7, it's definetely worth it. I just updated to Nightly #46, and all nightlies were stable for me without any force closes. Daily use
And as i told u before, just ask me if there are some other questions

Hey, Im having an issue with the crt animation, after I flash the crt animation for desire hd on my IS, the 4 buttons doesn't light up, and the worst part is I didn't do nanddroid backup before I flash the crt animation.
Are there any way i can get all 4 buttons back?

Hey man, I tried out CM7 last night and I must say it seems really really god and fast so far. I love how everything is darker and easily themed. Thanks for the push

@wpra3: try to reflash ArHD without wiping.
@johnblundon: yep, that's pretty cool in CM, that makes it kinda 'clean'. I think the first setup needs a little time, because some settings are on a different place, but then, it's just perfect & fast. No problem

Seems great so far man, super fast. Thanks again for the advice before I tried it, being kinda new I'm always a little nervous trying something new, nice to have someone else with he same phone to look to before jumping into it

why do button backlights fail with CRT animation on Sense ROMs in the first place ?

Because the DRHD (the mod is taken from that version) doesn't have the rotating backlight.
Sent with Incredible S | xda Premium

Is it availablefor virtuous unity ROM? If so, please send me link to download and instructions ....thanks

why do sense roms not have crt animations in the first place? Or the network icons that change colours...

Because sense is sense. And i hope that makes sense for you
No..i mean, that's cause it's modified by htc and they deleted that feature

Can't i port the crt animations on my official rom.

there is CRT screen off animation with rotating buttons and backlighting in VirtiousROM.

Probably because of the missing dependencies.. You can't simply copy/paste the apk.. I wish it were that simple...

I really like this thinking. I only have limited experience with Honeycomb, but there's some question in my mind whether 7" is too small for Honeycomb and Gingerbread will be a nicer experience. Honeycomb clearly rocks on 10".

Looks awesome. I assume you went crazy with the framework to do a lot of this. Any suggestions for someone just starting out with framework editing? Ive looked a bit at the code, and its a bit intimidating, probably because im not sure where to start. have any advice or resources for us mortals? Thanks for what you do!
Read The code is explicit and commented. You can use a search tool to find string instances, depending on what you wish to change..

How did you get the bar on the bottom? Can't wait for your rom
Nook Color via Xda App
There's an app called Plug In Launcher that I find might be useful to combine with your nookcolorUmS app for those having problems mounting sd card. it launches an app when you plug in a usb or head phone Jack. If you devs can find a way to activate a microphone in the head phone Jack it might activate a telephony program also. And yes, waiting for your rom anxiously

very exciting, I am enjoying CM7 right now but if I could get the 'back' button on the bottom that would be awesome. Love your work sam and I can't wait to see more of this.
am i reading this right?
When cm7 hits stable your going to make a heavily styled cm rom with hc features? Or you're going to work on the hc rom?
I guess what im asking is should i look more forward to cm7 stable or hc asop?
I think sam is saying that he'll build a more tablet friendly rom using CM7 once they get it stable..
I know I'll switch to HC when they release an AOSP rom for the Nook Color..

you should just check out HC on the nook if possible. i really do not think 7" is too small for HC, especially since the nook has such a high resolution display.
I'm not sure there's a point in making a flashable zip of this right now. This would require an update every time a new version of cm is released.
If there's such an need for it, I could release a RC1 version. But nightlies I doubt it. Sorry.
Moreover, the notification panel is everything but slick. It needs some coding still.
And this thread is only CM related. Nothing to do with HC.

Can this possibly work on Froyo?
Well its always doable. But the framework has changed since 2.3. So the changes will have to be done differently. Haven't looked into it. To be honest, I don't see much interest in working on froyo when a stable version of GB is one the way..

Crt screen off animation?

I am wondering, seeing as the IS is running gingerbread. Is it possible to get the crt screen off animation on top of sense?
At least for now without root

Its not available fully working even for root users
BUT: it looks like seo from the DHD crew is going to give it a shot ... We will most probably have the addon in mike1986's ARHD ROM ... Idon think there is a chance of getting it without a custom rom ...

Tested it, it's working on the Incredible S, but animation is a bit lagged (i'd say something between 15-18fps). besides that, it's working properly, touch responsive and all.

HTC Battery widget

I had the HTC Battery widget on my phone but had to reset and reinstall ICS. It seems you can't get to the HTC widgets from HTC Hub on ICS like I could on Gingerbread. Does anyone know how I can get that widget back?
Couldn't bring it back, but I installed elixir2 widgets and have it there.

Unlike some others. I don't redirect your question and offer you something you didn't ask for. I give you what you ask for or don't comment. Here it is - works fine on my Vivid with ICS aside from animations not working and the background of the details screen slightly off. I'll get around to fixing that.

So how do you get it? I had it before when I upgraded OTA to ICS but lost it when I had to reset the phone and do a clean install of ICS. My wife's phone is still on gingerbread and I can get it on her phone, if I knew where and what to look for I could try moving it over to mine.
It hapened the same with my Desire S. I would like to restore the HTC battery widget, I liked it in GB and I want to keep it in ICS.
Can anyone help?
Battery widget from the play store looks exactly like the screen shots and its free if that helps.

Yeah, I would like to know where to get one too. In the taskbar, there's a percentage in the actual battery.
I belive the ICS update also replaced Sense 3.0 with v3.6, which doesn't have the clock widget. You can try Battery Guru on Google Play.

[Q] New member seeking opinion

Hi everyone, I'm a HTC Incredible S user (stock) from Australia that has been increasingly frustrated with HTC support (lack of stock update to ICS due to carrier, Virgin Mobile), so I decided to take the matter to my own hand.
Question been: I have been browsing around the forum for various ROM to flash (read the important notices and all such), but one question come to mind... since I am using Go Launcher (free version, got sick with stock HTC sense) what are the con for said launcher? Is it recommended to replace stock/ROM launchers with it?
Thanks everyone for helping out.
It's up to you, I don't like Sense <=3.6 either.
I think the more popular launchers here on XDA are Nova and Apex.
The cons are that the Sense launcher will continue to use up memory as a system service but that can now be stopped using this.
Launchers are mostly for customization. Go launcher is among the best available to replace stock launcher. If you're going to root your device then you'll have the liberty to choose whether you want a sense based rom or just plain vanilla rom (rom without sense framework and interface).
As of my experience, I'm liking apex launcher for its simplicity and ease of use, but if you are willing to spend some bucks, i would recommend tsf launcher, nice eye candy yet still not a burden to system resources.
Sent from my Incredible S using xda app-developers app
+1 for Apex - I like how you can change the name and icon for the app in the home screen among other customisations all for free.
Some apps in Google Play are great but their icons are sh1te
Thanks for suggestions guys! Much appreciated!
Just one more question to ask: which ROM is the best recommended to go for right now? I was thinking Nik's JB ROMs, but half afread the phone might not be able to run it smoothly (store mobile Incredible S with stock ICS update lag like hell...)
Thanks very much.
EDIT: opps forgot to mention, without HTC sense...
Smoothest experience and best battery/performance close to stock:
ARHD or The Second Sun rom
Nonverbose's kernel
ultrasmooth rosie
v6 supercharger
Andrev daemon
Project butter hacks
I agree with markj on his suggested rom and tweaks. If you're looking for non sense rom, give nik's jb rom a try.
EDIT : you tried that, my bad the rom still new, nik will further polish it in the future for sure
Personally, for plain-non sense-ics rom, i prefer icecoldsandwich together with those tweaks (minus kernel) mentioned.

I had the same experience as you when I updated with the OTA stock ICS update... almost hurled my phone at the wall with the lags and rubbish battery life.
IceColdSandwich worked well for me but I'm now using CodeName JB (I like to roll with the cool kids) and both have been very smooth, the latter much more so IMO.
A thing to note if you are snap happy - the camera quality in AOKP/AOSP ROMs will not be as good as Sense ones. Just something I noticed as well as others in XDA.
