You may have to configure and pair the two phones.
I found an app on google play store and apparently its the only app on play store which utilizes the wifi direct capabilities.
The app name is "Wifi Shoot (beta)" You can checkout the demo video in the app page for how to use this app.
The app still in beta. I was able to send a file using this app over with wifi direct from my HTC One X to my friend's Galaxy Note. However i was unable to do vice versa. that is, i was unable to receive files from other device to my HTC One X. I used this app on my HTC One X and my friend's HTC One X and tried for hours to send and receive files but without any success. Only success was, i was able to send file to my friends' Galaxy Note. I believe on HTC devices, the implantation of wifi direct itself is not stable.
I searched for many apps in play store but found this app to be the one which actually uses the wifi direct technology. Looking forward for the stable version.

Hi there.
Question: Custom ROMs not from Canada do not show Canadian only apps such as TD Mobile app (bank app). How does one set the local country so that the Market can detect the proper country?
I recently downloaded Rodrigaz MIUI ROM, and it's really great, except now I can't find my TD Mobile app. I called the bank and said that my phone or phone software is has to be set for Canada. Somehow if I flash my stock ROM it will show Canadian only apps, but some of these ROMs don't.
You're help is appreciated.

I have no problem finding the app using Cyanogen. The Market finds the app based on the fact that I use a Canadian Sim. However the TD app is also protected, which means you won't find it if the fingerprint in your build.prop isn't on Google's white list.
That being said, while you're figuring this out, you can access TD's mobile banking at this URL:
tinyurl.com/tdtouch
Bookmark it

Use Market Access.
Well if I use Cyanogen or the Desire HD port, it not only shows the canadian TD app but also shows the prices in canadian funds with a CA symbol. But any MIUI roms don't. I figured it might be a setting in the build.prop that I could change, but I lack the knowledge of locating such property.

Market Access won't let you see protected apps. TD is a protected app.

Try searching for some of the following protected apps:
Fruit Ninja
A Online Radio
Paperdroid Pro
(not sure if they are still protected but they were the last time I checked)
Do you see any of them? If not, your problem is with protected apps, not with location.
In any case, one simple solution to test: Next time you're trying out Cyanogen, make a backup of the build.prop. Rename your MIUI build.prop to build.bak and paste in the one from CM6. Fix the permissions to what they were before. Then reboot and see what you get in the Market.
Thanks for the reply, I searched for these apps and they're there. About the build.prop, wouldn't mixing from another rom have compatibility issues?

It could be a problem, don't know. There's only one way to find out... I say take a nandroid backup of your status quo before making the changes. If it fails to boot you can do a nandroid restore.
Strange that you see protected apps but not TD. The standard method of identifying your country for the Market is usually based on the SIM. Maybe MIUI overrides this.
I tried using Cyanogen's build.prop file today and it still doesn't show the TD mobile app
I'm at a loss.
Okay well at least there's a workaround: install it from Cyanogen, Titanium Backup, and restore that app to MIUI
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Oh, you mean adb pull it from there? I can try that.
I thought I'd mention that a lot of Google search results seem to point to a "fingerprint" or "footprint" feature of the software to indicate what region/country, which is what them protected apps seem to look for. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
You may not be able to adb pull the TD app from your CM6 or stock installation as it's a protected app. But when you back up a protected app with Titanium, it transforms it into an unprotected .apk file... if you reinstall it using Titanium from MIUI it will go back into protected space; or you can browse to the folder and manually install the apk, which will install it as an unprotected app.
I don't know if this is a problem related to the recent patch for ROM Manager, but I upgraded that app and it didn't fix it, so...
Anyway, I have two apps giving me fits right now:
Amazon's new MP3 Cloud player for Android, and "Good (for Enterprise)", which is a corporate email reader.
Both apps complain that my cell network isn't enabled. Both apps should work find over WiFi, and they are communicating with their servers in some capacity, because they are able to tell the difference between a valid login and an invalid one. But once I enter a valid login, they both complain that I need to enable my cell network.
Any suggestions?

I'm not sure what you mean. I'm on WiFi, and I can connect to Amazon's web page fine. But when I login to the app using my amazon account, it complains about not being connected to a cell network. Why would it care if I'm on wifi?
Do you have the phone.apk telephony.apk and mms.apk renamed or removed by chance? The app could just be looking for those.
Ahhhhh, I see...

I haven't done anything like this on purpose. I'm running the stock ROM with eclair and rooted via autonooter. Can I check for them using a file manager or ADB?
Ran into the same problem when I tried running the Yelp app on my Nook Color. Kept crashing on the install. After passing emails and logs back and forth with Yelp it turns out it crashing when it's looking for a phone, even though I'm on wifi.
He said they'd fix it in the next major release.

Hey, I don't know if any of you use airdroid to sync files via wifi, but I downloaded it because wifi file transfer quit working for me. However, this doesnt work either. My browser will say can't to server (have tried multiple browsers). I emailed support, but was wondering if any of you had some insight?
Adfree or adaway wouldn't effect this would they?
Thanks
AirDroid worked fine for me using the default port (and Chrome) . It's possible (and, I think, likely) that your router settings are blocking it in some way. Check those settings or change the port AirDroid uses.
Silly Question: Phone is connected to same wifi network and not using data connection, right?
I've also used File Expert's FTP share to transfer files a good bit. It works well and has an FTP client built-in so you can share between phones too.

I've been using samba filesharing without any issues from stock through revolt and now ginger 1.3. Definitely give it a shot.

Could someone please upload the tv .apk?
Wanna see if it'll work on my s4... as the standard one on that is craaaaaaap compared to the one on htc!
Thanks!
Exactly the thing I was looking for. The S4 has a decent TV remote app, but it's lacking a few features. Even though it has a huge list of supposedly compatible TVs, the stored IR codes don't work with my listed TV (Sanyo). The HTC One on the other hand has a feature where u point the remote at the phone's IR sensor, and it finds the code for you. E.G it should work on every IR device.
I've looked everywhere for this, can't seem to find it. Also tried to backup the up on the HTC One, so I could just send the APK to my S4, but for some reason I can't backup (or even find) any system apps on the HTC One. I've tried ES File Explorer App manager, Helium, and a couple other generic ones off the market. On the S4, it lists all of the system apps, and I can backup pretty much anything, but the HTC One only lists downloaded apps.
Anyone have an idea how we'd be able to get the HTC One TV app APK?
EDIT: Found this in another post "d b.tt/FJ8mmSH1" [Delete the space inbetween d and b] (All the HTC One system apps apparently), but I have no idea what the TV app is called. And I can't figure it out because the TV app doesn't appear in any task managers/backup apps on the HTC One.
EDIT 2: Found it; d b.tt/GyNejZy0 [delete the space again] But it won't let me install it on the S4, just says "App not installed", and that's it. Anyone know how to force it to install?
I have just had a look through my system apps and cant seem to find TV. Maybe it is part of sense?

Ignore my last post
Maybe try this one?

Same issue. We'll probably just have to wait for either Samsung to update their TV app, or for 3rd party ones to start popping up on the Play Store.
it wont be as simple as copying the apk over i think because of it needing some sense framework files
You need 3 apks for the TV app. 1 for the IR, 1 for the User interface and the other one for the channels. I have uploaded them here.
By the way just wanna ask does the S4 TV app require you to connect to the internet before you'll be able to use it?
I'm looking for an offline TV app.
It won't let u open it the first time without an internet connection, but after the first time you open the app and choose your region, area etc. it will let you open the app without internet (and use the remote function at least), but it keeps giving you the "you need the internet....." warning.
Just tried that .zip file, same thing as before, won't let me install any of the APKs. Probably just a compatibility thing.
I was told the HTC TV app is made by Peel. Search on Play Store for Peel Remote. It MAY have the exact same features. Actually some people are using it on the One instead of the stock app
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Xparent Skyblue Tapatalk 2
Looks like it is, and so is the GS4 app (Samsung WatchON). The thing is though, the actual Peel app itself is only made for Galaxy Tabs, and I can't download it from the play store, also can't find an APK anywhere.

It's pretty stupid how both the GS4 and HTC1 apps are made by Peel, but the GS4 one is lacking some important features

So does this mean you do not have to have a ROM running Sence to get the IR working with this App?
I tried the 3 apk files with the GE ROM on my HTC One, didn't work. None of them will install.
The Peel app in Google Play only does TV listings, it does not do the IR blaster part like the TV app on the HTC One.
I'd really like to have the TV app working with the GE ROM. I know Google is working on an IR blaster, but I don't know whether it will be as nice as the HTC TV app.
You can push the apps in System/App with the appropriate write accesses to force the install but after reboot the app fails to start correctly
HTC 1- TV apk
First, i want to thnk u for providing the APk's for the HTC 1. i recently installed stock jelly bean on my HTC 1 and lost all of the sense apps
Secondly, when i try to install the apk, it keeps saying app not installed. Am i doing something wrong? Should i try installing through the recovery screen?

The APKs won't work unless you have HTC Sense. (And obviously if you had HTC Sense 5 you would not need the APKs because you could use one of many ROMs with HTC TV already baked in.)
For anyone without Sense, the only options are whatever came with your ROM or an IR Blaster app off Google Play.
