2.1 / 2.2 / old bootloaders.
I need them AND in an odin flashable tar.
not because i screwed my phone!
I need them for my Rogers stock rom thread!
now with odin 1.82 we can flash the boot loaders seprately (link in thread if needed)
so if i had them, i could ADD them to my stock rom thread . I would be able to have them flash the bootloaders then the rom.
as far as i can tell they are not in my stock roms already
thank you guys!
Check the thread for odin with the three button fix I'm pretty sure everything is broken up into individual pieces for flashing with odin and maybe what you want is in there.

Don't think the 3 button odin had all the bootloaders.
Let me look around,i may be able to find s link. But it may take swhile, busy most of the day.

they have all the odin files
@ mr - 3 button doesnt, thats why ginger people must flash ODIN one click FIRST, then see if 3 button works, THEN flash 3button fix if needed. Only odin one click has bootloaders.... At the moment....
@ pirate - thank you for that but i wouldnt know what to look for inside the firmware. Im still learning, if i knew what i was looking for exactly, i would have it already.... LOL.
kinda why i was asking for help....

just redownloaded jh2, jh3, jh7 tar files. no boot loaders, but seems like every froyo i9000 rom has bootloaders in the tar files.
the files you are looking for are:
boot.bin
sbl.bin
nearly every one of designgears' roms has sbl.bin so you can pull that from the 3button fix or one of his roms.
according to another post by mccord, reposted from the i9000 forums, it looks like you need to flash a 2.2 froyo rom with bootloaders in order to recovery.
odin one click worked for mine, i just tested, but its also a model 1007, its never failed me
according to the continuum how-to (for one reference)
the 3button fix doenst have boot loaders and must flash one-click to snag it's bootloaders first.
and we all know we cant get them from one click
Ill keep looking myself but i would appreciate help as well
either way, once i have those 2 files, do i just tar them? or is there a proper way to package them to flash in odin "bootloader" box? (new feature in 1.81 and up). just like cwm zips need instruction meta data? or no? ive never done odin files.... or just tar them up and flash with pda box? or?
screw it lets find them first.....

this is false. it contains the SECONDARY bootloader, but not the primary
you can also get the sbl.bin (the secondary bootloader) from AIO captivate toolbox
i am hunting down the boot.bin (primary) right now.
ahh... right... i was half wrong... i was tired last night.
but thanks man!
So I was on a froyo rom and flashed to a gb. All was working well for a week. I ran into an issue and flashed (Odin3 one click 1.7) back to my previous froyo set=up. The gb rom I was using has been fixed and I want to go back to it again. Is it ok just to cwm the gb rom or do I need to go through the whole process of flashing bootloaders etc...
odin one click flashes eclair/froyo bootloaders. yes you will have to flash gingerbread bootloaders again. don't be afraid, how many times have you used odin one click? that has the exact same risk involved when flashing to gingerbread. repeat flashing gingerbread bootloaders is the exact same risk as odin one click.

Hmmm interesting, I thought you couldn't do it ONLY if you used full Odin.
For future reference, you can go back to froyo/eclair roms and still use the gb bootloaders. They are backward compatible. If you want to flash jf6 just to start from stock, cezar has a safer method for Odin. It flashes JF6 rom, but not the bootloaders. You can find it in Development, it has its own thread and he's also put it in the op for Continuum v5.
There is one draw back. You can't flash Cognition or you'll brick your phone. Cog uses a secondary bootloader.
Hello all,
I have a few general questions that I would really like some help with:
1.) I understand some bootloaders are not compatible with some ROMs. How do you know which bootloader you are running? How do you change your bootloader, must you use ODIN?
2.) How does the kernel come into all this, are some kernels not compatible with certain ROMs and bootloaders? When you flash a new ROM, does it sometimes come with a new kernel?
The main reason I am curious about this, is because I wish to flash the new Cyanogenmod 7.1 and want to be sure I am successful and do not brick my captivate. I am currently running Serendipity VII Build 2 and want to be as safe as possible when flashing Cyanogenmod 7.1.
Would the safest way be to flash to stock first using the following Odin one click method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989
Then from there, follow the instructions normally?
All help is greatly appreciated.
There are basically 2 types of bootloaders, Eclair/froyo and Gingerbread bootloaders. GB bootloaders are compatible with preatty much everything (not counting cm7 or MIUI).
Kernels are specific with a type of rom, example Boogs KH3 kernel worked with any rom that was based on KH3 (2.3.4). Some are tweaked specifically for a rom.
On CM7 and MIUI from what I can make out you can run it on either eclair/froyo bootloaders or GB bootloaders but some kernels are specific for bootloaders.
If you are on Serendipity then I am sure you used ODIN to flash i9000 boatloader (BL).
As the above person said there are eclair/froyo BL and GB BL....in GB BL we have captivate BLs and i9000 BLs. earlier GB roms used i9000 BL...then Samsung leaked captivate specific roms...so we have captivate BLs now..
All the one click Odins are used to flash captivate specific BL...
To go to CM7, many people flash it over GB bootloader and have no problem....but the safest way is to odin back to eclair/froyo stock...then go from there.....

Thank you for the help guys, I really appreciate it.
I will be flashing back to stock using the following method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989
Then I will simply flash CM&.1 on top of that.
I will report back to let everyone know how it goes.
did your phone come with froyo on it/what is the build number of your phone? its a 4 digit number on a sticker under the battery, for example mine is 1010, meaning oct. 2010. many phones built later than this, and/or came from the factory tend to bootloop from jf6 (the firmware containedin that one click) and have also been known to lose button combos for recovery/download mode which would need both if you were bootlooping and for cm7.
if you have a later build phone it would be better to flash a leaked gingerbread firmware with bootloaders included and then flash a custom kernel with cwm included so that you can then flash cm7 from there.

I purchased my phone at the end of August in 2010. The only 4 digit number I can see reads " 0168", it is the largest number located behind where the battery is held. And yes, I have lost my three button combo for recovery/download mode. It stopped working, and I bet it was because I used that one click method you mentioned.
Do you recommend I flash this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129821
It says Cyanogen Mod users stay away, why is that?
or one from the official list, and if so, which one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300843
Also, I am a bit unclear. After I flash one of the stock ROMs with the bootloaders, how can I then flash a kernel with CWM. Can I do it through ODIN?
And just out of curiosity, why can you not use these stock ROMs for everyday use? It seems we always flash other ROMs on top of these?
I know I asked a lot, I would appreciate the help!

You can use the bootloaders in the first link. At the time of that thread's opening, cm7 didn't support GB bootloaders. But, if your not sure how your phone will work with a1 click, I would recommend using the ones linked in my sig.
As for how to flash those roms, there are directions in the first post of their respective for flashing.
You can use a stock ROM everyday, most just prefer not to.

No one said you cannot use stock leaked rom as dialy driver, i actually used KH3 for some times and it was very good.
You should flash the kernel according to the rom you have flashed. For example, For KH3, there is a Boog's KH3 kernel with CWM. For all leaked stock rom, there is one click Odins and compatible kernels with CWM injected.
To go to CM7.1, u shud be on stock (Eclair/Froyo or GB) and should have CWM....

I need help too please. I have a Cappy that was originally on eclair 2.1 rooted. froyo 2.2 Kies mini update and rooted but didn't like it's battery use and slow action. I reflashed an Odin 1 click stock 2.1 back, rooted and then did a Gingerbread 2.3.5 I897UCKJ3_withBL_ Odin 1 click flash and am liking that quite a bit more. The only trouble I am having is rooting 2.3.5. I want to do the fugu kernal swap method with Odin3 zimage-root.tar then flash boog_KJ3_kernel3.tar. I can get into DL mode and hit the start button ok.
Here is the question I have. Where in Odin3 v1.83 do you load the kernal path? PIT,BOOTLOADER, PDA, PHONE or CSC. I can't seem to find a comprehensive Odin3 tutorial on my own and I don't want to flash the kernels to the wrong place. I don't think the first 3 options are right based on their names or info I have found. Can't use CWM till I get rooted so Odin or possibly Hiemdall are my only choices. I have Odin3.
HELP and TYIA
Bud
Kernels go in pda
When flashing a single file, unless its a modem or csc file, it will usually go into the pda slot. Modems go into the phone slot. Csc file is a no brainer. I've never saw anything that uses the bootloader slot on a captivate. Pit slot must have a pit file AND repartition must be checked. If you are flashing a kernel to get cwm just to flash a custom ROM, kernel goes into pda slot. If you want to user Odin to flash a modem, it goes into the phone slot. All files flashed in Odin must be a tar or tar.md5 file. Don't change the name of a tar.md5, it can cause a md5 check sum error.
There you go, cliff notes for Odin.
Edit
If I missed something or messed up something, please correct me.
Found Odin3 Answers. Yeah!!!

When ur phone boots up and u see the i9000 bootsplash, then u have i9000 Gingerbread bootloaders (we didn't have eclair/froyo i9000 Bls). Also, button combo to get into recovery or download mode is different with the i9000 gb bootloaders.
And if u try and flash an i897 gingerbread rom (and don't see the i9000) but u have a "pixelated" screen, then u have i897 eclair/froyo bootloaders. If ur flash to a gingerbread rom is successful and u see the i897 (att world phone) bootsplash, then u have i897 Gingerbread bootloaders.

Hey guys,
So I recently just got my USB Jig to get my phone out of softbrick (after realizing newer build models cannot use Odin One-click..)
I have a 1107 build, so what can I do to revert it back to stock? Odin won't work for me, and I just want to ultimately flash a custom ROM on it. Should I flash GB bootloaders first or what?
Thank you.
you can use anything except one click for Jf6 by design gears...u can flash GB bootloader...no problems...
Which stock are attempting to return to?
Anything really. I was on ECLAIR before. (On a Rogers phone)
I just want to get out of the soft brick (cellphone--!--computer) to flash MIUI or CM7.
I bricked it by trying to flash the AT&T bootloaders.
Then look through development and pick a stock package. Flash that, then try to apply whatever custom ROM you want. But, if you want GB bootloaders, flash those before flashing MIUI/cm7.
Is there anything I can use to flash stock packages without using Odin? I have a new build number and Oneclick will only brick it again.
How do you feel about Heimdall?
Thank you for your quick responses, I really appreciate it.
I will use this guide to try Heimdall: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113195
Would you have a suggestion on what particular stock ROM I should revert back to? I don't really care for any particular bootloaders at this point in time.

depends what kind of custom rom u want to flash later...
If u want to flash CM7/MIUI, then flash to any stock eclair/froyo or Att GB bootloader...
if u want to flash ATT GB roms, then pick any stock GB bootloader from the sticky thread in development section..I personally used Adam outler's one click heimdell stock to KH3
if u want to flash i9000 based GB roms, then flash i9000 GB bootloaders....
Can I use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1266172 to revert back to stock FROYO?
Actually I should try using Heimdall's One-Click Unbrick first..
edit: Heimdall's One-Click does not recognize my phone in Download mode (after plugging in Jig and then plugging it into computer) or in soft-brick screen.
Will proceed to use Heimdall's One-Click Total Stock
edit: seems like Heimdall's One-Click Total Stock doesn't work either. Computer cannot recognize phone. Help please?
edit: Did Total Stock again on a Windows computer, successful flashing!
Heimdall uses different drivers did you install those?

TiBu is my personal fav.
UPDATE... Again, thanks BWolf56!
AT&T Captivate on FROYO 2.2. OneClickRoot, CWM Recovery V2.5.1.2
Did ROM backup, TiBu backup, EFS, APN, Contacts etc
Installed/Flashed:
ROM X-Bean1.1 base.zip
gapps-jb-2012101-signed.zip
Semaphore_jb_2.0.3c.zip
landscape_fix.zip
Phone booted up fine initially, would always revert to landscape view, back button was now the home button.
Could not find any of my backups. "UI" kept crapping out; "Unfortunately UI is not responding" Think that's what it said!
Had to click OK and it was back until i touched anything and kept happening...
Did Advanced Restore -> CWM Recovery of: System, Data, Cache, ext/sd
Phone rebooted.... Stuck on AT&T logo screen, charging pinwheel shows but doesn't move.
Cannot get into recovery.. managed to get into "dowload mode"
tried i897UCJF6-final-OCD-REVO.zip loaded on computer, phone connected in download mode,
loaded PIT file only as the zip had no PAD file....... NO SUCCESS
If I proceeded in a NOOB fashion, it's because I am so I'll take my licks Lol
Any help would be appreciated!
Figured it best to just get back to stock 2.2, maybe even earlier since I wouldn't have the 3e recovery
problem not being able to install from OTHER sources. Then TRY again after brushing up!!!!!!!!

Did you flash a I9000 ROM? If so, you need the I9000 bootloaders.
Also to downgrade android version, you have to use Odin (i suggest kk4 without bootloaders if you already have the gb ones, which can be found in the stickies).
Make sure you follow the full instructions next time to avoid issues like that.

Ahhh, fello Canadian i see!
You may be correct thinking i have I9000 "JB"? bootloaders!, in the original
thread : Aceofspades replied to a member question stating: "Port means that this
rom is originally made for i9000 and made it to work for captivate."
Should I assume I've flashed an I9000 Rom? and now have JB bootloader?
Thinking back, I did not wipe before going back and using recovery! Not sure that was the problem
but it was on reboot after restoring CWM/system. data. cache etc that the phone rebooted and ended up
in a continual cycling of the ATT logo screen!
Big question now is how do I do to remedy my situation!!
NOTE...I have made a JIG and can get into "download Mode" now
From this point on I'll document my every move in order to be able to provide
the exact procedure I went through... might be more helpful !!

First thing: don't use kies at all!
There are no JB bootloaders for the cappy, just eclair, froyo and GB. If the ROM is a port, you'll most likely have to flash the I9000 gb bootloaders but I'd suggest finding another ROM to start with (like CM). Playing with bootloaders is the only thing that will make your phone a paper weight if something goes wrong.
Also, bootloaders aren't included in roms for safety measures. That being said, you can run ICS and JB roms just fine with the GB bootloaders.
As for what comes next. Perhaps use Odin to flash stock kk4 without bootloaders, from there flash corn kernel (once again with Odin) and give CM a whirl following their full flashing instructions. (Which can be found both in their thread and website)

During your flashing, did you ever flash the GB bootloaders? If not, get the version with bootloaders and make the the flashing isnt't interrupted.
And yeah, from there you got it right, corn kernel; and follow their full flashing instructions.

Here's KK4: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18370912&postcount=3
During your flashing, did you ever flash the GB bootloaders? If not, get the version with bootloaders and make the the flashing isnt't interrupted.
And yeah, from there you got it right, corn kernel; and follow their full flashing instructions.

* I haven't knowingly flashed GB bootloaders.
* I've been all over the link you provided... no working downloads.
Hmmm, I did try "Odin" a couple of times to get the GingerBread update...After doing that my phone now
boots to the AT&T logo, goes black for a sec and a screen like a bad tv signal comes up! Also, the phone
is now charging and showing the big battery icon! I seem to recall reading somewhere that if that happens
it may be wrong bootloaders? Can't remember exactly what it said but am I correct thinking it was one of
your own replies to another member?
Anyway, done for the night Grrrr
Thanks so much!
Here is a post with a pic about the screen u r seeing. Pixelated screen means u don't have the GB bootloaders... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33227557&postcount=2
And i am currently in the process of uploading my Odin and Heimdall Stock KK4 One Clicks. Gonna be using MediaFire. Will post when all uploads are done and new links attached to my post #3 in the Stock Rom stickied thread in the Development forum...

Appreciate you taking the time to reply! The images you displayed are exactly what I am seeing..
Links aren't good forever, i realize that just hard to believe I hadn't found them ANYWHERE yet! Lol
PS ************
* Have since got GB Bootloaders and added thru Odin3 v1.70.. PDA.tar.md5
* Now able to get into recovery mode by 3-button, shows 3e recovery, have ability to install from sdcard,
wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition.
* I have an "update.zip" on there but can't remember what it's for so I didn't do it...
but still no UI coming up, just the AT&T logo which cycles ON/OFF
Am I still in the same boat... needing KK4 Odin flash, after doing that will i be able to copy
a KK4 ROM zip to my phone thru PC and flash from the phone?

KK4 is a one click Odin.
From there, you'll have to use Odin 1.85 or 1.87 to flash Corn kernel to be able to flash your way up to CM.

Hey there!
* 4-2ndtwin chimed in and said he would post when he uploaded them.
Been looking in the meantime.
* I have both Odin versions, now understand that I can use Odin to flash any file I choose, such as the Corn kernal, not just files it may come with.
* I downloaded a "Stocki897uckk4-zImage.tar, unzipping shows "zImage" file but I
haven't touched it.
Just hanging in for a working link for the Odin KK4 One-Click I guess...
Question!!!
For clarification..Odin KK4 One-Click is just bootloaders, kernal and maybe modem, right? It's not going to give me a working ROM...OR, is it ALSO an alternative way to flash a ROM when I can't add a ROM zip to my phone thru my PC to flash?
Lol... I'll get a handle on this, more of a visual type
As usual, appreciate the help!

Still browsing ROMS...
Should I be bothered rooting yet? Not sure if I'll just have to do it again after a ROM switch?
Any suggestions for a root utility?

I suggest you start with CM.
As for rooting, you can get it directly on the store now (was recently made legal). I believe it's by chainfire. But do you need it atm?
Also, all custom roms come pre-rooted.
