Hi guys. I'm new here and i need your help. Last night i upgrated my samsung galaxy i9000 from 2.2 froyo to gingerbread 2.3. I also rooted my phone with CF-ROOT By ChainFire and after that, trying to instal voodoo control but when i enter in the application i see nothing just this :
So, actual kernel version of my phone is : I9000XJVK
And build number : GINGERBREAD.XWJVB
I don't know what to do, i'm not so familiar with android formalities. What to do to not broken my phone ?

does that kernel support voodoo sound? by the look of it it doesnt, if that is the case you need to flash a kernel that does support it(most)...and then all will be good...go to the thread for that kernel and in #1 or 2 it should state the kernel spec

If u want kernel with voodoo, you must flash a JVQ or JVR, because all kernel's are on new source's and for 2.3.4 no for 2.3.3.
For JVQ/R are a lot of kernel's with voodoo sound support
I just installed voodoo control plus and now it works but i have one last question. Now i have 2 voodoo controls apps. One of them have to delete ?
P.s : for voodoo lagfix where i can find it ?

For voodoo lagfix, you need a kernel with voodoo lagfix build in it

Turn on the Voodoo Control App, then you see at down Lagfix Control, or something like this, and Lagfix status: if enable ext4, if disable rfs only.

Go to the Captivate Development section and the go to stickies and then read captivate directory. In there should be a link to a guide to rooting the rogers captivate.

That one would probably be decent. undo ext2 and uninstall oclf. Get neldar's sgs kernel flasher app from market and back up your current kernel, then install the new kernel. if any problems arise, simply restore your previous kernel with sgs kernel flasher. good luck!

it dont look right for my i896.
sorry for my stupid questions.
The one you mentioned earlier, or one of these should work for you.
Speedmod - Based on JPX Android 2.2.1 kernel source:

Firebird 2 v0.4 - Based on Giorgio Armani Android 2.2 kernel source
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912684
Both of these are fast as well.
Hey guys, I'm also interested in upgrading from OCLF to the voodoo lagfix; how will flashing the kernel give me a performance improvement? Will voodoo work without the kernel flash?
*EDIT*- Also, does voodoo lagfix for the i-897 work for the i-896? I'm on Rogers.

thanks again.
i flashed to the firebird. works well score around 1450~1589
but every time i reboot i896(also when it got fully charger-ed), when i got into contact, it take about 5~10sec to load up the contact. is it normal?
I flashed this rom yesterday (after 8.0 wipe) for 2 reasons. Firstly as a path to get to v9, but also to take advantage of the voodoo sound improvements. This is where im lost.. i thought it came as part of the rom, but cant find any trace of it...
how do i find / enable it???
Cheers in advance
Simon
ASK Darky i dont know what he puts in his rom one would expect Darky to be able to tell you .
Or SEARCH VOODOO SOUND

Thanks for your patience.
Download Voodoo control app from market.
Its part of the kernel not the rom ;p Darky just uses a kernel that implimented it. Any froyo rom can have voodoo sound as long as you flash a kernel that implimented it.

CF-Root kernel.
Don't use cf-root kernel. JVH uses changed RFS filesystem. For now best method is using voodoo kernel for JVH

The free version requires a custom kernel. The paid version does not. Read the description of the apps in the market for more information. Be sure to rate the apps 5* as well because they work great.

Yes it converts data to ext4
CF-Root 3.2 I think is more stable and faster
Cf-3.2 is very fast and very stable. Not s single fc since installed! cwm +tweaks + ext 4. Quadrant 2100+

Can I install voodoo kernel (XXJVP) after my phone (SGS) was CF-rooted (v3.7)? Can I solve this without factory reset? I had backed up and restored all of my data before, but I'd like to try out voodoo kernel with ext4 filesystem convert, without dataloss.
It would be important, so somebody please help me!

I think you should flash the stock JVH first.
Using JVP (2.3.4) I had bluetooth issue with CF-Root, none so far with SpeedMod.
GPS was also not so goot with CF-Root, I'm gonna see tonight with SpeedMod
Has anyone done a quantitative comparison of battery life with different kernels?
I think every kernel has his own good and bad parameters so the difference between kernels depends of what apps do u use and what do u want from kernel...
So for someone it is Voodoo! For another one it's CF-Root and so on !!!
