Today my phone randomly rebooted when idle and didn't get past the talon loading screen when running Dlev 4.2 rom. it was working fine for 1.5 weeks or so on that rom and had made no changes other than activating voodoo lagfix yesterday. No matter what I did (Factory reset, clear cache...etc) it still wouldn't get past the talon loading screen so I reinstalled Dlev 4.2. Same problem, won't get past the kernel loading screen. So I flashed stock JL1 (rogers) with odin and my phone booted, but then had tonnes of fc's and eventually just reboot into 3e recovery and had a bunch of red errors (can't mount a bunch of stuff). It gave me the option to format sd card, so I chose that but it told me sd card was not found. I then thought to 1 click JF6, but after the at&t screen the phone just goes to black screen with lights on. I can get into 2e recovery mode still but no download mode with key combo's. I believe the sd card needs to be reformatted. I have a jig coming someday soon, ordered it 2 weeks ago, but I was wondering if there is anything I can try till it arrives to revive my phone. I tried adb commands from recovery but it doesn't detect my phone. My computer says installing drivers (CDC Abstract control Model (ACM)) but nevers finishes installing them. Thanks for you help.
I was able to get into download mode by typing adb reboot download when phone was booting. I flashed one of the speedmod kernels I had on my computer and I can boot into CWM Recovery now. I formatted sdcard and reflashed JL1 but still no boot. What else can I try???
Edit: I think my internal memory is damaged or something. When I boot into 3E recovery I get the following errors.
update media, please wait
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
(I/O error)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount SDCARD:
Your storage not prepared yet, please use UI menu for format and reboot action.

Formatting SDCARD:...

E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount SDCARD:

Edit 2:
I have been doing research and have found out that I need to fix my partitions at /dev/block/mmcblk0p1. I pushed parted to my phone and used adb shell to run it following directions of a website, but when I try to make a new filesystem by typing parted /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 mlfs ext2 I get an error Error: /dev/block/mmcblk0p1: unrecognized disk lable. I don't know linux at all. Can anyone help please.

Hi everybody
I was on the newest DarkyRom version on my SGS GT-I9000.
But last week I got the SGSII. So i wanted to flash the SGS back to stock to sell it.
A tutorial told me to flash JPU first and then update later to newer versions.
I did this and the phone was back to the original firmware (everything worked fine).
But when I tried to boot it this morning it got stuck in a bootloop.
So I tried to flash JPU again. But this didn't help.
I got error messages on first startup like:
Code:
update media. please wait
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
(No such file or directory)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount SDCARD:
your storage is not prepared yet. please use UI menu for format and reboot actions.
copy default media content failed
Since then I have tried to flash many other firmwares. Stuff between 2.1 and 2.3.6.
But nothing helped. The same error on first startup after flash and then bootloop.
Someone told me to flash CWM via ODIN an see if the SDCard was mounted.
Turned out it's not. When I try mounting the SDCard in the CWM recovery mode I get the following:
Code:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(I/O error)
Error mounting SDCARD:!
Is there any way to get the phone back to life or is the internal SD card just broken and do I have to send the phone in?
Greets
no one got an idea?
I guess not... :S
I have the exact same problem. But I didn't even tinker with my phone. I started crashing daily and now it doesn't even boot anymore.
I've been on CM7.1RC for a while, recently apps kept crashing for no reason. I have a lot of apps tried disabling some things with autostarts but there were too many apps and too many triggers and all to hard.
So tried wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache, phone took a long time to reboot, was OK for a while but then same thing reoccurred.
So I decided to reinstall CM to the latest daily following wiki instructions, but I did something in the wrong order and got stuck in a bootloop before I had put the zips on the internal SDCard.
So I though, I'll go back to XXJPK using ODIN and restart from there. Again, bootloop. I have download mode and recovery 3e working, recovery 3e brings up error message:
update media please wait
E: can't mount /dev/block/stl10
(Invalid argument)
E: copy_dbdata_media: can't mount DBDATA:
your storage not prepared yet.
pease use UI menu for format and reboot actions.
copy default media content failed
I tried to reformat the internal SDCARD using the recovery 3e options and re-ODIN XXJPK but no joy.
Suggestions?
I am getting the same bootloop described in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1466838
but flashing with the stock XXJPK I originally used did not get it out of the bootloop. Any other pointers?
I have a Samsung I987 Captivate. It was running SlimRom 4.2.2 and running fine. It started acting up by showing that the battery was dead. I plugged it into the charger and it immediately said it was half charged. I rebooted it and that s when it all went to hell. I got into clockworkmod and cleared dalvak and cache. At this point I rebooted but it still wasn't acting right. At this point I don't know what happened so I couldn't get into clockworkmod but I could get into download mode with a jig. I used Adam's I897UCKK4 Stock, Wipe, with options to install Bootloaders, Param, and Re-partition-One-Click.jar file which did it's thing and upon a reboot showed this on the screen and that is where it's at. The phone boots to the boot screen and then reboots. I have tryed searching on XDA and Google and haven't come up with a fix other than maybe a jtag at which point the phone isn't worth fixing.

I know that you aren't on ICS and I know that you didn't get the encryption unsuccessful issue that ICS had, but it sounds like your internal SD has died which is similar to what happens with the EU bug. So have a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1447303 and see if what others experienced after the EU bug isn't the same as what you're experiencing now.
Thank you m1batt1- That is similar to what I have and yes, your right about the ics. The thing that they are doing over on the thread going into cwm is something I can't do. The idea of swapping to the ext sdcard would be fine if I could figure out how to do it. I'll keep looking and trying.

No, actually I turned it in to AT&T for the rebate credit card. I haven't heard anything from them at this point. I got it to a point where it would boot up to the ATT screen. As stock as I could get it.
I am trying to get my Son's Captivate back up and running.. while it has no phone service, he uses it all day long. It was running Cyanogen Mod 10 .. he sat it down to eat.. when he came back the screen was black with the buttons lit up and no response.
He did a battery pull to restart it and it came back looping Error to mount /SDcard and a count down.
I got it into recovery and am not able to mount /data or /emmc. And it is failing to install a ROM from zip.
I tried using "I897UCKK4 Stock, Wipe, with options to install Bootloaders, Param, and Re-partition-One-Click" and it runs through the process.. flashing Kernal, Modem, FactoryFS, DBDataFS and CACHE successfully.. then the device reboots and goes through a few things on screen, and fails on Formatting /data ( E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 ) but everything else says success. Hitting "reboot system now" says that it cant copy the log because of failure to mount /emmc.. then reboots to the same recovery and does the copy of Media and Appling Multi-CSC (their spelling mistake not mine) over again.
Flashing back to a CWM 6 recovery and still no mounting of /data or /emmc. And it just boots right into the recovery.
I tried --repartition with Heimdall and it said it uploaded the S1JE4.pit fine. Same things..
So is there anything I can to to test the internal storage to KNOW if it is faulty or is there anything else I can do?
I would really like to get this thing working again for my little dude.. he is so sad as all heck to not have his Android Buddy. :crying:
Seems likely internal sd may be dead, particularly if someone ran ICS on it at some point. If you have an external sd card, at least 8GB, this thread may help-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21439417
you could use cm10.1 instead of the ICS rom mentioned in the thread.

I tried installing one of the 10 stable versions. I was on stock jw4 with cf+cwm karnel. It started installing and then went into boot in middle for no reason. But it didn't boot. It just kept booting into recovery (not the cwm version i had) with the cm logo.
I tried installing again but it aborted installation every time. (didn't check the log)
I then tried to go back to stock but never boots,in recovery i get a bunch of:
E:failed to mount /sdcard (File exists)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount /sdcard
your storage not prepared yet. please use UI menu
for format and reboot actions.
Meida files copy failed.
system unable to Format /data...Internal SD card cannot be mounted
rfs format failed on dev block etc etc etc
I tried all the ways i found here but none helped, worked on it for hours. I also flashed a bunch of stock versions with no luck. All just went to recovery with all these erros. Only thing that actually booted was a very old version stock jp something, got same message on recovery but then booted into...cm10 . I just got the boot and then black screen with buttons looking like they are on.
I then gave up and decided i would install cm and hopefully that would be compatible with what ever was changed since it happened because of it.
I now tried installing all the 10 stable versions and then all the 11snapshots. I either get error 7 or 0 and installation aborted or the same thing that happened the first time-it starts installation and then boots, gets stuck in (cm logo) bootloop and ends up in recovery.
ATM my phone is kind of bricked i guess. How do i fix this?
