PhoneGap Is The Present and Future on iOS, but on Android... - Off-topic

I've been developing applications for computers since 2005, 3 years ago I've started developing mobile applications for Windows Mobile. I felt in love with mobile development since then. When iOS came out I couldn't go for it because of two things, first: Objective-C, I have a big problem with C languages, I hate C and I can't develop on it, also Objective-C is a lot worst than standard C. Second: I had to have a Mac and on those days I hated Macs and I was one of those Linux fanboys.

It has an opinion, if you read the entire article you might see that I've wrote it and this ain't be just an article about holywars, but for the developers to express themselves.

JQTouch is just a UI tool, like jQuery Mobile, Wench's Touch and others. What I mean on the article is the incompactibilities that the Android platform has.

[Q]Linux vs Windows 7 vs Mac

I have an HP Pavilion dv4. And I was wondering if I could update to another software. Either Linux or Mac. I was wondering which was better as in perfomance and compatibility. I was also wondering if it was possible to do such.
Thanks in advance. I don't care if this question results in an opinion. That is my intention. To see what the thoughts are of the operating system.
Also, It'd be best if you do not trash an Operating system if you don't have it. It wouldn't make sense.
This will result in being your opinion. It depends on what you are planning to do with the PC. If you are planning to go into rom development, then Linux would be your best choice. If you just want a PC for gaming, everyday tasks, etc., then Windows would be your best option. Mac - I really don't see what that's good for . But once again, it's your opinion.
Putting OSX in "non-apple" hardware is technically illegal.
For general users, a lot of apps may not be compatible with Linux so it depends what you'll be using it for.
So unless you have a specific purpose or function to run Linux, stick with Windows..
Theonew is once again correct, Linux for developers and geeks etc.. Windows for Gamers and normal people. Mac is really for people that do video/photo editing and design and stuff like that. That's where you missed the point Theonew
Final Cut Pro is cutting edge in video editing and as a result it's only available for Mac OS X...
Well.. I want a pc with Geek super abilities since I do have an Android. So that crosses Mac off the list. Mac is of more use for people with iDevices
At the same time I want to play games like Minecraft.
Will Linux run .exe programs or is it like mac.. I highly doubt it will run .exe programs.. but better safe then sorry

Linux will not run executable files. It uses archives instead (e.g. tgz).
Moved to Off-Topic.
Why dont you try dual boot? You will have the best of both OS's.
Sent from my MZ601 using XDA Premium HD app
If you're interested in trying out different operating systems why don't you look into virtualization such as VMware.
You can use wine to run exe files on linux. However if you're just a casual user then it's really just a waste for you to try a Linux OS.
$1 gets you a reply

Is it illegal or simply a violation of TOS/User agreement?
There is a difference. One is criminal and the other is civil.
If you deem it "illegal" then how so? Just curious.

For ubuntu, just download wubi (available here: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/windows-installer)
It will beautifully setup a dualboot with windows and get your Linux environment setup in minutes. But one disclaimer, you will have to figure out how to get WiFi working. HP laptops and wireless don't get along well, be prepared to take some time to find the drivers. But if your using ethernet, you will probably be ready to go right out of the box

Did a quick search and found an issue with wifi on an HP Pavilion DV4 laptop. The fix was said to install "b43-fwcutter" & "bcmwl-kernel-source" (Source - Linuxquestions.org). You may want to take a look at this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=8848735&postcount=5.

Oh I know grouper developing will continue. Sorry I'm not good at expressing myself in forums and threads as I tend to trail off. Its a fact that there are some ROMs and kernels that have been, well -abandoned- for lack of a better word. I'm just trying to thank those devs that have moved on for whatever reason. I had the first kindle fire and was actually surprised to see people dev.ing for Otter. Guess I need to brush up on my online communication skills. I've miscommunicated my point on more than one occasion lately. Think I'll stick to just downloading and let everyone else do the talking.

Want to Learn Programming? Why not from MIT?

XDA Has always been a fantastic community for developers, and non developers alike. Recently, as many of you may have noticed, the gap between our esteemed developers, and our massive user base has been widening. XDA-University helps immensely to bridge that gap by allowing our users to start on the path to being developers themselves. Many of our tutorials focus on the basic aspects of theming and modifying the software on our devices. It seems, however, that there are not so many tutorials on the actual basics of programming. Why don't I just send you all to MIT to learn... For Free.
MIT has opened up the content of their courses for free on the web. Check it out here: CLICK ME!
When I look for something related to programming I often bump on MIT videos.
The last one was on skip lists

Sorry...
Also I was looking for like a side by side comparison type thing...and how they compare to stock.
Thanks
It happens. A major difference between some of them is the Base it's created from. Every dev brings his/her own flavor. Most of them are debloated, which is what mostly separates them from Stock. Some are themed more than others. The only way I can think of to view the Feature sets side-by-side is to view them on a pc in separate windows. Just see what appeals to you, read up, look at screenshots and try a couple out. It's really the best way.

Right. Everyone has their own opinion of what a ROM should be. That's why I just recommend fishing around until you find a ROM or developer that's more in line with your personal tastes. I've found that I'm a KNOXRAID guy. Some people prefer XNote. To each, his own.
