[Q] URGENT - How to remount - LG Revolution

What is the command to remount the phone? I might have something everyone might like. :3

Adb shell mount is "mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock12 /system" no quotes of course

Well thank you! We might have a new root method. PM me and you can test it.

Well considering this post is a day or so old now I would love to know if you found a new rooting method? And is this for post patch or before it?

Nope-- we don't use yaffs2 on this phone, change that to "ext3".
Also, a shorter version is just "adb shell mount -o remount,rw /system". No need to specify the filesystem type if it's in fstab.

Help! Syntax please

mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
I have typed that in 5 times and it says it's a syntax error. I'm guessing it's a space issue or something. My phone is down.
What is the exact syntax?
Thanks

That syntax is correct. Are you invoking busybox's mount?
I finally got it, thanks.
The way it shows in the root guide is:
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
The way I had to type it.
mount -o rw, remount -t yaffs2/dev/block/mtdblock3/system
It turned out to be a spaces issue.
I got that part done and then is said "Can't cd sdcard"
My sd card is formatted fat 32 and loaded the rc29 fine but won't cd to sd card. Does it need partitions or something?
Honestly, this is one of the most frustrating things I have ever done in trying to root this phone. Now I can't even use mount -o rw, remount -t yaffs2/dev/block/mtdblock3/system.
Please help me out I am still getting usage errors. It must be something to do with spaces in the syntax of mount -o rw, remount -t yaffs2/dev/block/mtdblock3/system

The syntax of those lines is all messed up. You need spaces between "yaffs2" and "/dev/block/mtdblock3" and "/system". If your phone is already rooted, just hook it up to adb and type adb remount.
Thanks jashsu, that did it. For a total noob like me, I just didn't understand.

mounting the data partition

I know this works for mounting the system
mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
but whats the string for mounting the /data ?
either in adb or terminal emulator
Yes I have/am searched/ing.....
Thank to whom ever can answer
type remount and look for the data in adb it should list off strings
more clarity please. Trying a bunch of options still getting acces denided and operation not permitted
If it helps I cant even adb shell then su.
Yes I am rooted
Yes my phone is in pc mode

[Q] adb remount vs. mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 ...

So in several "how to remove apk" threads, I've seen 2 different ways to go about removing apks.
1)
Code:
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/app/blah.apk
2)
Code:
adb shell
$ su
# mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
# rm /system/app/blah.apk
My questions is, is there a difference between adb remount and mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2blahblah?
The long command can be run on a terminal emulator on the phone so you can do other things without a computer.

Installing service.jar

How do you do it? Just same as adb push? Or any special way? Don't wanna get stuck to bootloader again.....
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I just do this
Code:
adb push services.jar /sdcard/
adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/userdata /data
cp /sdcard/services.jar /system/framework/services.jar
mount -o ro,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/userdata /data
reboot

I want to deodex stock rom myself, so...

try: adb shell mount -o remount,rw system
Code:
adb remount
It should do the trick too

lol, that's shorter indeed
adb remount will only remount an existing mount, it won't create one.
It's not clear what the OP wants.
You don't need rw to deodex a ROM because you certainly don't want to write to system whilst you're doing it.
Also, I thought the stock ROM was deodexed?
To mount system in recovery, which will give you rw access and allow you to pull the files you need you just type:
Code:
mount /system
or
Code:
adb shell mount /system
Because system is included in /proc/mtd
to all: the answer is:
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 /system

Hi, this seems to work for me:
Open a terminal (Command Prompt).
type adb shell
type su
You should see a # in your prompt.
type mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
and Bingo! Your /system is now mounted as r/w. [NOTE: There will be no confirmation message. Your command will simply be printed again, and that means its a success)
The possible error might be that you forgot the su part. I'm making a wild guess that it stands for superuser. The first time I tried this, I didn't know about the 'su' and I wasted a little time because of that.
Hope this helped.
