Hi,
I got the Galaxy Note N7000 and installed ICS (StuNNeR 1.4.19)
Now I noticed a weird thing! The screen's color changes (kind of flashing) from normal to a more red-ish then back to normal, it goes on and on and on for few minutes... (about 1 second normal then 1 second red-ish.. etc)
This doesn't happen all the time. It happens more often when the brightness is low (I have brightness set to auto)
Is anyone experiencing the same issue?
Ya I have similar thing think its just the auto brightness kicking in nothing to worry about

Yes. Go to settings display and turn off auto adjust to save power
Thanks guys.
I turned off the auto brightness and kept the screen brightness at a low level, but the problem didn't go. I think the problem has nothing to do with the auto settings, but more to a low brightness.
I'll continue observation.
The thing is I just bout the phone 3 days ago. Should I return the phone and get a new one, or this problem exists in all galaxy notes 7000.

Mohammed

Had the issue on my gt-i9100. I found it to be linked to the browser colour/brightness settings. In browser go to menu> brightness/color>press default and then ok. Worked for me anyway. Some bug makes the browser setting apply to the whole system. On my gt-i9100 anyway.
My phone keeps turning brightness way down by itself with this message. All temperature readings are fine. Any ideas?

I too am having the same issue, however i believe that my issues is slightly different from yours. I noticed maybe about 2 days after i purchased the phone that mostly anytime I am using the browser, whether it be Chrome or the stock browser my screen automatically adjusts itself. I went into settings and made sure that the brightness was not set at "Auto" and turned all the way up. I also made sure that reading mode, auto adjust screen tone, and color adjustment were all turned off. I also changed the screen mode to dynamic and I seem to still have this same issue. I read on another forum for T-Mobile users that there are a lot of consumers experiencing this same issue, not sure if carriers are doing swap outs for the phones as this may not be related to a HW issue but rather a SW issue.
That sounds exactly like what I'm experiencing. Except I work outside, so when it does this it's impossible to see my phone. If you get a chance the next time this happens can you go into settings and open the brightness slider to see if you also can get this error message to appear? That seems to be the only place I find the message, it doesn't just pop up or anything. I too have checked like 10 times to make sure all the other display settings are correct, like automatically adjust tone and such. It sucks that auto brightness cannot be fine tune with the slider like it could on the note 2. I'm finding it very strange that instead of adding to features of the Note 2 to make this phone better in every area they chose to remove some great features leaving me wishing I did not upgrade.

This is a problem affecting a bunch of people. There are a couple threads - For example:

It sounds like thermal throttling. LG phones have this, in particular the Optimus G and G Pro. I haven't had the problem on my G2 yet. It's designed to lower the brightness and lower the cpu speed in order to keep the phone from overheating.

True my LG Optimus G pro does this but there is a way to turn it off in the system menu accessible from the dialer. I have turned mine off and the phone no longer does this and has not gotten hot or anything. Wish there was a way to do this on the samsung as my S4 exhibits this same behavior.
I'm thinking about getting a Note 3 today so I'm hoping can be shut off too. I shut it off on my G Pro and the G2 doesn't do it, which I'm very thankful for since I work outside as well.

Since we're on this subject, how often does it happen on the Samsungs? I would figure less often due to amoled not being as bright as LCD.

You may be better served to leave the auto brightness checked when your working outside. When on auto, it gets much brighter when needed than with the brightness slider cranked all the way up.

Note 3 automatic brightness settings problems
I have a Samsung Note 3 phone bought in Germany. I have the some strange problems with brightness settings too. Typically from time to time the phone screen just get too dark. Particular in economic mode the phone can get from time to time very dark and even setting auto brightness to +5 does not help.
I was using before both Iphone 5 and the first Samsung Note and some other phones and automatic brightness control was always working fine. In my new Note 3 the brightness is jumping sometimes suddenly.
JVogle: You can adjust the automatic brightness by pulling slider up or down. It can by set from -5 to +5. But in my case this thing do not help so much. Particularly this is a bigger problem again in economic mode.
This is rather a software issue, because when I switch to manual brightness it stays constant all the time.
Anybody knows how to cure it?
This is so annoying. Gotta wonder if it's a bug in one of Samsungs ****ty features causing it to happen so much. Even without brightness all the way up it happens

You have a different phone than me apparently. Also a different issue, as I'm referring ONLY to manual screen brightness setting. I would expect fluctuations with auto brightness. I've never had a device fluctuate when manually set to a desired % though. I also can't believe they removed the ability to adjust slider with auto brightness. Sadly the only thing better about this phone than my Note2 is the specs. The software and user experience has been sub Note2 for me in every aspect. I will most likely be switching back to the Note2.

brightness issue
I have tmobile and I've had my phone for about a month and now I notice when it's in standby and I hit the power button to wake the phone the screen is really dim for about 10 seconds or so and then it brightens up. My brightness is on max and the auto brightness is disab
Hey guys, now that I'm all caught up and on MM, I've found an issue that's really kind of annoying.
Not sure how many people use Lux Auto Brightness over the default, but I've personally become very used to having it. Now with MM, Lux's notification overlay (which would normally replace the standard brightness slider) shows up as it's own notification rather than as a replacement. Kind of annoying to see 2 brightness sliders especially when the default brightness doesn't work while Lux is enabled.
Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix? I'm assuming this is an MM issue and I do plan on rooting once I get more than a couple minutes to do so, I'm assuming Xposed could fix it although I'm not too experienced with this alternative.
Thanks for the help!
+1
I tried a lot with and without root, unfortunately to no avail. There is a Russian patch for S7 but I do not dare to try on S6.
Has anyone noticed an issue with the auto brightness of the note 8 ? It seems it doesn't get adjusted efficiently! Sometimes it's too dim and sometimes too bright, that's so disturbing
It's really funny, it worked after I installed an application called lux lite, that's unbelievable.. I need to install a third party application on a 1000$ cellphone to get such a basic function working. Thanks Samsung !

I believe you are wrong about this. The auto brightness is adaptable, in the sense that you can set it manually wherever you want in different comditions and it will learn your preferences and interpolate. I actually find it very flexible.

I find that is not doing such a hot job at learning my preferences. I keep having to manually adjust because my phone thinks it knows what I want. It's annoying.

do you mean that it has a new functionality that has not been in old phones? I have the Note 4 and it works like a charm, but the note 8 auto brightness works strangely, when I'm in a room with low brightness the screen light goes so dim that I can barely see anything!
Ive experienced the same thing, I have to do a screen lock for its auto brightness to work correctly
Hi,
(sorry for my English)
Your message was one month ago but I reply just in case some people have the same issue.
You have to call samsung about your issue. I have done that there are 2 months ago and Samsung are going to change the settings only if they have lot of complaint about this weird behaviour of the note 8, S8 and S8+.
The new settings of the auto brightness is "smart" but often it's more like "lost" than "smart"... :/
I adked to Samsung to give 3 choices for the settings of the auto brightness for the user instead of 2:
1) manually
2) auto "smart"
3) auto "not smart" => so the phone adjust the brightness depending only of the light sensor.
They told me that my proposition can be integrate only if they received lot of complaint.
Seems to come with last update
I can confirm am having the exact issue..
Brightness doesn't seem to auto adjust. Even after a reboot. The issue seems to come during the last update - the update where now we can have video lockscreen and animated AODs.
Hope this is resolved soon.

I don't recall having issues on the last update, but I am on the latest CRG1 now and it's working fine on my N950F.

I ran the sensor tests, and it seems that more than the lux sensor is not responding ...
My heart rate sensor seems to work on a hit-or-miss basis..
SpO2 working fine though.

Try and reset your usage pattern and give it time to learn your usage. You will have to adjust the slider for your preference while its learning. I'm on the latest oreo and have no issues with it.
Reset phone to factory settings..
Issue persists!!

That's strange. My auto brightness worked fine up until the latest update. It is the August update that caused the problem for me.
Actually, providinf an update on the matter.
Some days later, situation came back to square one!
Not working:
Light sensor
Heart Rate sensor
Proximity sensor
Gyro sensor
Magnet sensor
Accelerometer
Just fingerprint sensor seems to be working fine.
I was on a trip in Malaysia and was at a Samsung store. They told me this is a very common issue and easily solved by 'software update' but when I went on to the service centre, they denied me since my phone was bought in different country. Phff
If the next OS update doesn't resolve this then I would recommend that you take your device to a Samsung Service Center
Anyone got their unresponsive device working back again ?
Hi,
I never had an amoled screen but I heard that you can get burn-in on those screen.
So I avoided phone with amoled but I really like the note 9.
I would like to know if it easy to get burn-in when you use app like google maps, with your notifications bar (battery, ..), or onscreen nav button, ect...
Thanks for yous reply.
I've never gotten burn in on any AMOLED phone I've owned (Galaxy S3, Note 4, Note 5, S7 Edge, Note 8, S9 (three of them) and the Note 9). I use the phone a lot.
Is it possible? Sure. LCD is possible, too. Just don't keep static images onscreen for hours on end
I've had an AMOLED phone since the Galaxy S2, and have kept each phone for at least 1-3 years. By my count that is the S2, S3, S4, S5, S7 Edge, and now the Note 9. I have been using Google Maps and Navigation on all of these devices, and I have never experienced any screen burn in. Not once. In fact, I have never heard of it being an issue. Yes, I knew it could happen, but I have never heard of it happening outside of isolated cases. The Note 9 has one of the best displays of any phone out there, don't let this non-issue stop you.
When I first get my AMOLED Smartphone/Tablets I never use brightness over 20 to 30% I run it like that for about 3+ months. I blend the displays in, well that’s my theory!
I have a Tab S 8.4 LTE my daily driver! It’s over 4 + years old! Not a mark of screen burn in see it all depends how you use your display! I’ve seen people complaining there AMOLED display have burn in 2 months in! But when you ask them where the brightness set to 80% was even 100% it’s too bright it hurts your eyes!
You don’t need 80% TO 100% unless your real blind ? Seriously use your phone sensibly you will be fine pp.’s I’ve done many 8+ hour round trip Google maps on my TAB S 8.4 there’s no sign of burn in on my AMLOED display!! AMOLED IS KING!!
Just leave the brightness on auto. In full sunlight in my car, the screen is maximally bright. On long trips, that may be for 8 hours at a time or more. That's not a routine thing for me, but still never any issues.
that was one thing i was worried about too, this is my first samsung/amoled phone. I have read here and there, some people get burn ins as early as one week of usage and some never, cant say every screen is perfect and everyone uses their phones differently.
a small tip, what i have done is using the app "routine" to set my brightness to 35% and auto rotate on when connected to bluetooth of my car. It locks it at that brightness, and of course you can manually turn it up if you wish. this saves me the trouble when the phone auto adjust it to max most of the time.
if youre worried just for that one app ie. google maps, you can set it so that only when you launch that app and connected to that specific bluetooth to lock in the brightness at 35%.
I have also set my google maps night mode always on.
