for me i find that gdx v19 is the fastest and most stable
whilst gx has better gaming and 3d
but overall i think gdx v019 is the best but you need to find the best one for you as many people will tell you many roms that they think is the best but we all use our x8 for different things.
for gaming the best is GingerXperia, but GingerDX is smooth and fast for everyday usage (not so good for gaming).
Try new release of GC8.0 its fast, smooth and good in games

Hello,
I just used a friend's galaxy s with the go launcher ex (samsung 2.3.3 stock rom) and I noticed that the transitions are extremely smooth ( I would say 60fps always) instead the transitions on my 2x with cyanogemond lastest nightly is definitely not that smooth.
How's this possible? is this because of the bad drivers or tegra 2 is just worse?
Hello!
Did you use GO Launcher Ex on your O2x? If not your are comparing to different launchers.
GO Launcher Ex is a little faster than the ADW Launcher that comes with CM7.
BTW: If you in need for more speed you could try ironkrnL.
HI! Of course I'm talking about the same launcher

But not the Same build type of rom. I'm on Paul's gr5, I use launcher pro plus which is SUPER smooth. I also tried go launcher ex on gr5 and its really smooth. So I would guess its cm7 that's stopping it from being really smooth and snappy.

I sold my Galaxy S for the O2X, and I don't regret it. The samsung galaxy S is definately not faster than the O2X, I had it for a week and i got irritated with how slow it was. So must be Go Launcher Ex running smooth, but the phone isn't
If your friend's SGS had an AOSP firmware or was using stock Samsung firmware with a lag fix, then it's very possible to get butter smooth transitions on the homescreen (regardless of whatever launcher is used). I haven't seen how smooth the O2X is, but the SGS can get pretty close to the smoothness of iOS with the proper tweaks and firmware.
makes sense..
the better smoothness also happens with the samsung galaxy player 4.0 I just got. I hope when nvidia releases the source code things will be better because these devices with single core cpus are just snappier than the 2x :S
My gf has a sgs I have oc'd it and I am using my o2x we both use go launcher and even her running 1.25ghz and me running stock 1ghz there is no contest my phone running weapon g2x dominates her stock rom running speed, and smoothness. Maybe its cm running bad or your phone running poorly....
Making bad decision's one at a time.
Samsung added H/W acceleration into some things, including the web browser
I tried the SGS with cm7 -> go launcher animations silky smooth
O2x with stock GB -> go launcher not that smooth like cm7, when you pinch out with two finger to see all the windows of the launcher it skips frames, on the SGS it look 60fps even when you open the app drawer with zoom animation the SGS wins hands down with both ROMs, the O2X is not smooth.
I also noticed that the O2X creates some odd artifacts in animations (pixelation and aliasing in lines), I noticed this too when I tried ICS sandwich alpha build when you try to scroll unscrollable windows to the wrong direction of the launcher and you get that skew effect.
All this is not to diminish the o2x but to understand whose fault it is.
#1 bad drivers from NVIDIA/LG/whoever is involved?
#2 lack of source code? (but even the stock roms show the problem)
#3 some lack of GPU instructions of the tegra 2 like NEON maybe?
#4 go launcher doesn't use tegra 2 to its potential (due to reason #3?)
It would be great to test, say the galaxy R with tegra 2 to see how it performs
Maybe someone can port those settings to 2X , It's really smoth !
There is such videos on youtube and the reviewer says the Galaxy R is choppy in menus, but the browser looks smooth.
but i saw my friend using i9100 with go Ex is very laggy...
oh yes.. he is using stock rom
My friend have a SE Xperia Arc with CM7.2 RC1 (the FXP114 KANG) and I have CM7.2 RC1 Temasek's KANG on my Optimus 2x.
On Xperia Arc Go Launcher is silky smooth even with 3D transition like sphere or cylinder. I also verified the transition speed in Go Launcher settings and they are the same (Default at 60)
It's not like my LG Optimus 2x is laggy, it's now 150% better than stock froyo with stock launcher. But there is smoother...
Oh yeah, I tested supercharger V6 and it changed nothing (I don't say it's not a good script, it just not helped my phone).
Yeah, its a combination of things that make our o2x slow
Lack of NEON, Improper NVIDIA support, no HW acceleration
one solution is make a opengl rendered launcher, but it will eat some battery...
The o2x is not choppy, with stock lg launcher yes but not with anything else is very quick.
with adw launcher ex is best for me
Uber smooth with tw launcher for me.

are you a w8 user ,,? what rom?
Kabayan san ka sa Guada?
X8 ofcourse...because it has a lot of development
x8 all the way since finding places like this saved me having to upgrade handset
both x8 and w8 are same i have both!!! x8 with cypress and w8 with synaptics!!! no difference except walkman branding on w8 body...
zoertab mrs
Both are the same except that the W8 has a Walkman twist added to it. I would pick the W8 if I were you simply because the X8 was released in June 2010 and the W8 in April 2011.
Buy the W8 because it has Walkman stickers on it ^^
W8 ofcoz!

W8 has a better speaker and headphones but it matters only if u are a music fan.... both have same config... go for the one who's bootloader can be unlocked
both same.i think different is just the music player
both same~but w8 sound better~^^
ok, lets get a hold of the specs etc,
I myself own an X8,
The xperia X8 was released on 2010 on June.
whilst the W8 was released on 2011 on April, so that means the W8 is a, could i say, a newer model of the X8.
the X8 and W8 both have TFT capacitive touchscreens. S w that is the same.
Both can also have upto 16gb on a SD card.
Both also have the same amount of RAM (unfortunately nothing is higher ther ) and they both have same internal storage.
When the X8 was released, it came with donut, but when W8 was released it came with eclair.
Thats nothing really important but I guess it should be noticeable that the X8 is older than the W8.
The W8's loudspeaker test got these specs: Voice 66dB / Noise 62dB / Ring 69dB
And the X8's loudspeaker test got this: Voice 66dB / Noise 66dB / Ring 69dB
There is only the noise that has a difference of 4, but its different i guess.
OK, so another test i did of the Audio quality.
Heres the X8's results: Noise -75.6dB / Crosstalk -70.7dB
Heres the W8's results: Noise -86.8dB / Crosstalk -84.1dB
As you can see there is a slight difference between them.
I'm not really making much sense (?), but what i'm trying to say is, comparing specs (mostly all the same) the tiny differences between them make W8 look more new (?), but in most people's opionion's they would say X8 is better. I agree, i think the X8 is better, but thats because there was more development for it. I have only just seen ROM's that say W8 people can use it too.
But, from what I know, the W8 would be for people who like their music more that anything else, and X8 would be for people who want more development for their phone's.......(?)
If i am making any sense to people, then, do you agree or disagree?
hope this helps,

instead wasting so much money i suggest you to buy xperia mini which has 1 ghz armv7 processor buy paying some more
hope this helps

W8 can run ALL of x8's roms without any problem... S x8 has no advantage... W8 comes with better earphones, 4gb bundled card and 2 back covers, thats the only difference...
e15i is the best
The best is...
I think the best is X8 because it have a development really good.
I have Xperia X8 with MiniCM9 (Android 4.0.4) and it runs very smoother.
When I buy this phone I was also turned to W8 but the problem was that many threads say "that is compatible with X8, X10, X10 mini, X10 mini pro, etc. Possible to work on W8".
So it means that W8 isn't tested for that stuff that you probably want in the future. Of course that most of them work for W8 but it is always a threat because no one tried on W8, always on other devices.

lcd: X8's lcd is a little smaller (around 0.2 inches) but it has higher resolution and ppi so pictures are sharp and clear .... about lcd viewing angel just hold the devices and youll understand young is terrible at lcd tests( you can see pic clear only from the front),but x8 is absolutly brilliant at lcd quality. (& viewing angels )
Cpu : x8 comes with a 600mhz armv6vfp processor but young offers 200mhz more clock speed : 800 mhz ,both have the armv6 architecure and are dispointing for gaming and browsing , video playback
Gpu : x8 comes with Adreo 200 gpu but as i remember young doesnt have any graphic proccessing unit
Ram: x8 does have 180 mb of RAM but i think young has 280 mb , so its easier to run heavy games and apps on it (much depends to kernel and rom)
X8 : better lcd , gpu , non-stopable Developers!
Y : better cpu ,bigger lcd ,280 mb of ram
Overall : x8 would be a great phone if it had at least 260 mb of RAM but it doesnt so to be honest all the owners of these two should think about a new device and put these devices in the musium
