Premango backup disappeared? how? and what to do now? - HD7 General

I made a backup back when I switched to Mango just like I was suppose to do. I took the file and moved it to my external HD. I went to restore it yesterday and moved the file back to the 'WIndows phone update' folder. I started zune and it earesed the file. I now have no backup, what happened and what should I do now?

you need to open zune and connect your phone, then move the file back.

Why would you want to go back to NODO now since you have MANGO?
I have moved on to Mango RTM and boy it works just dandy! not going back to ****ty NODO ever

You should always "copy", not "move", when doing delicate operations like this. Then once it copies successfully and you don't run into issues, you can safely delete the old files.
If you don't have a backup, you'll just have to download a ROM for your phone/carrier and start from scratch.

I suggest running an undelete utility on the external drive. It may not be too late to recover the folder.

Well I am 7712 and my phone is locked. I want to be able to get my phone to a state where it will receive official updates from zune. Where should I go from here?
If I update to Mango RTM will I be able to receive official zune updates?

Microsoft had stated that you would need nodo to go to mango, yet the Devs managed to get the Mango RTM installed without any problems.
Regardless of whether you will be able to update official or not the Devs will come out if something or the other.
Also Mango RTM runs flawlessly and I just love it. since its just released to the manufactures will have to wait and see if we can update or not via zune although I feel we should be able to.
MANGO ROCKS!!!

I am going to take your advice. But I would like yo be unlocked. Currently I am at 7712 and locked. How would I get to 7720 RTM and be unlocked? I saw that in the link you posted if you are currently unlocked you can stay unlocked when going to 7720 but you have to be previously unlocked. So what ROM should I flash to in order to unlock my phone? And then move along to 7720?

Never used the setting but I know HTC phones have a unique reset phone in settings?

May sound noobish?
Try doing a hard rest on phone. Hold down both vol rockers along with power buttom. once you get to grey screen with blue text select option to return phone back to stock... not sure if this will help or not, just trying to help

I have heard about the tool that Microsoft has just pulled out to fix the Walshed Device. You can search it on Bing on Google. Good Luck.
PS: I don't use Walsh's menthod to update so i am not worry about it. If you don't want to use the Microsoft Tools, just simply Re-flash your HD7 with Ansar 7004 ROM, Unlock and then get the Official Update through Zune.
Microsoft said that the Walshed Device will not get the future updates, and i think they are kinda serious about it.

ROM downgrade

Is there any possibility for downgrading OS 7392 to 7004 or 7008 so i can chevron unlock it and then update it on 7392 again? I found many topic's about that but not exact answer on it.

if you update your device maybe you have your back up on your computer.
by using last back up you can downgrade your device.if there isnt any back up on your competer, you should change your device rom!!
Yes it can be done i did it on mine about 2 months back
Here's what I did:
> Downloaded and Flashed RUU_Schubert_O2_UK_1.57.728.02_Radio_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50.10U_Signed_by_ansar
I think I got an error at the end of Flashing (which was supposed to happen)
> Then Downloaded and Flashed RUU_Schubert_HTC_Europe_1.16.401.01_Radio_5.51.09.06a_22.30.50.09_Signed_SCHUBERT_RELEASE
This effectively put me back to a Pre-Nodo ROM (can't remember if it was 7004 or 7008). I then Chevron Unlocked it, and installed the ProvXML that prevents it from Re-locking. This allowed me to update to Nodo via Zune and my device remains unlocked allowing me to use Windows Phone Device Manager and such. I must confess though my phone seems to crash and bomb out considerably more than it used to before doing the above (it amlost never crashed out previously.) This might just be me being Paranoid though....
Audio i manage to downgrade to 7004 by ansar but i am not getting any nodo form zune was there any trick to getting zune updates

No nothing in between that's pretty much all i did and Zune notified me of the update straight away. Mine was in UK so don't know if that has anything to do with it? :S
well i tried the force update method as well and no luck seems like i am stuck with 7004
I done everything perfectly, but when i come to the part for editing registry i stuck on 4. spot in this manual http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=907169
Can someone explane me better this part what i really need to do?
i have a problem i cant install the rom even if i first installed the one signed by ansar and then the Schubert Release on after that, i get an errorcode 294 which means its the wrong rom, what am i doing wrong?

[Q] Downgrade Nodo

i have htc HD7 nodo and it got locked. I would like to go back to pre nodo so that i can unlock my phone again. Can anyone help me with this?
See my Post in THIS THREAD (post number 3)
That is exactly what i did and it worked fine for me
Thanks, i have successfully gone back to 7004 firmware. But now when i try to use chevron unlock i am getting an error " Sorry, I'm having trouble communicating with the phone. Please make sure it is connected . and zune is started. What might be the problem? Im using zune 4.7
I've had that issue a few times myself. IIRC, i had to piss about with the Hosts file. If you google the error you should find some fixes.
I think my phone had to be linked to Zune too (i.e. not a guest device)

[Tutorial] Upgrade to 7720 HD7 Mango RTM Chevron Unlocked

Hi Everyone,
First of all, I do not endorse the paternity of the files published here.
I just want to publish a guide to ease up your upgrade to Mango RTM and keep your HD7 chevron unlocked.
Prerequisites:
- Windows 7 32 or 64 bits
- Zune version 4.7
- Windows Phone Device Manager/TouchXperience (1.3): http://www.touchxperience.com/en/applications/viewcategory/22.html
- Cotulla RSPL/HSPL: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195647
- 7720 package: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1215501
- Ansar's custom rom for HD7: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201169
- a custclear provxml file (see attachment)
- mango update package (see attachment)
Install procedure:
- Install RSPL/HSPL on your phone (rspl was enough for me)
- Back in bootscreen, install Ansar's custom rom (this one is unlocked + prevent relock)
- Once restarted, install thru marketplace (very important, do no sideload it) config connection from HTC and run it once
- Fire up windows phone device manager and let him install touchXperience on your phone.
- Once started and connected thru WPDC/touchXperience, copy in your phone windows folder the file custclear provxml
- After that, with zune not running , run with admin privileges the file "update" found in mango update package and let it do his stuff
- When finished, Zune should open and warn you an update is available (7403), do it
- After this one, zune should prompt you to update to 7712 (if not, just do an update search thru zune settings
- If all goes well, you should after this be in Mango beta 7712
- Disconnect your phone and uninstall zune completely
- From the package 7720, install the new zune version and the update wp file
- Reconnect your phone but be sure you don't have zune running
- Copy from the package 7720 the folder RCToRTM to the root of your c drive (c:\RCToRTM)
- From this folder, run the file ISVTo7720.bat with admin privileges
- If all goes well, your phone should begin its update to 7720
- If your phone updates with no trouble, once in 7720, run once again the htc config connection app to install the custclear provxml you copied earlier in your phone windows folder.
- That's it after, you should have a Mango rtm phone unlocked!

My phone keeps relocking after I update to 7403, any solutions?
Is there any difference between HD7 RTM Mango and non-specific RTM mango?
I have a non-specific RTM Mango in my HD7.

Im having the same issues. Cant update to 7712 after 7403. =/
I'm having 2 questions.....
- Where in this procedure can we add the "language string"?
- Will there be a backup made from the phone, so you won't lose settings etc....
good job worked fine here and direct
Issue
The only issue that i have with this is that it doesnt upgrade my Firmware or Radio in zune. I have upgraded my Radio with HSPL and have my phone unlocked but I never got the choice to upgrade it. I would like to know how if i can get the firmware upgrade w/o zune. I am using Tmous HD7 and I think it might be because the base rom to start all this off is EU.
Never Mind HTC took it down.

Not happening here, you sure you're using Ansar's custom HD7 rom?
For those having trouble with relocking, you need to install WPDM and touchxperience before updating to 7403 and leave zune closed. Than copy the provxml file via WPDM to the windows folder of your phone. Than update but do not use config connexion until you're in 7720. Hope this helps!

Hi, I can't update from 7403 to 7720..
Zune isn't giving me options to update, it says that my phone is up to date.
I've done everything in the sequence, but still a problem..
What you said (with ISV_Provisioning_Live.exe), isn't getting to help as is see..
Stuck on a white screen from the Provision like an hour..
Someone has a solution for me ?

HD7s Official Mango...How I did it...

Ok,
So all of us HD7s owners know that the Mango update for our device has not been released via Zune yet. Or so we thought. I discovered something yesterday completely by accident.
I had my device on the RTM 7720 up until last weekend. I have other phones and decided to restore my HD7s to stock (i.e. NoDo) and wait for the update. Well, I was missing my WP7 Mango so I tried to reinstall the RTM using the procedure found here on XDA. So, I start doing the following steps:
1) I uninstalled my current version of Zune.
2) I installed the version of Zune that comes with the download for the RTM method.
3) I install the updatewp tool from the Zune version in the last step.
4) I have a dev account and I unlocked my HD7s with the appropriate tool.
5) I perform the first step of the RTM method, which is to run the provision tool included in the download.
6) Start Zune and check for an update. This is where it gets good.
So, everything is moving along at this stage. I see Zune giving me the 7403 update. Zune then proceeds to start updating my phone. After the first update, Zune updates itself. It then begins installing the beta cleanup update. I think to myself, that is strange. The next thing I see is Zune installing 7720 Final version. It never even updated the device to 7712. It went from 7390 to 7403 to beta cleanup to 7720 Final. From what I can tell, I have the final release for the HD7s. I do not have a stock device to compare version numbers though.
I should also point out that I was now able to install the Connected Media app. I was not able to do this with the RTM 7720 version. I am getting an error when trying to use it though, saying "Sorry, your phone is not supported by this application." All other Mango apps I have tried are working though.
Just thought I would share this little tid bit for those of us that are impatient.

And everything worked fine? No issues with it being an HD7s vs. an HD7? So close to the actual update now... I did try flashing to the Mango beta, but it got messed up along the way and I just re-flashed to my stock backup after a Sunday morning of messing around with the thing.

I think when you say "unlock" in this sense, you mean carrier unlock. From my understanding, the carrier can unlock the hd7s so you can use it on other carriers using sim cards (ex t-mobile in the us, 3 or china mobile in asia). I dont think that will dev-unlock, though. Let me know if that's not the case, because I will definitely be all over it!
Well, we'll see if Mango comes out today for the HD7s, as WPCentral is reporting here: http://www.wpcentral.com/ATT-hd7s-mango-update-starting-today-rumor
